I'm getting the impression that overall interest in this campaign is waning. How do you see this?

I think we're all afraid of being the first one who wants to leave for fear of being killed off right before things get interesting, or being accused of killing the campaign. Problem is, it's been a year and we're only at the end of the started dungeon.

Honestly, it's like this with every PbP game I've been in: everyone starts interested, then everything moves at a starfish's pace after a month or so.

I've finished a lot of PBP games, but those have all been PFS scenarios or modules. Engaging an entire AP in a PBP format is quite the undertaking, which is why those fail more often.

That said, I'm still here and checking in on a regular basis, but it's hard to stay enthusiastic when the pace starts slowing down.

Or if you can't really do anything for several weeks at a time.

Yeah, I think we've put in a good effort to keep this thing going, but at this point at think we should cut it. If you would like to replace me as the DM and keep on going, that's okay by me as well. There are some people on the forums I've seen take over a campaign before.

I just don't have as much time to check in recently. compared to when we first started this, and it's really slowing the game down. Also, Wrath of the Righteous is really combat heavy - much more so than any other campaign I've run - (I think they are trying to level the players as fast as possible) which really makes it a drag to play by post.

Yeah, it seems hard to keep up. The enthusiasm level for the group can really only be as high as the lowest enthusiasm level of the individuals in the group. It seems like it would work better if not running a campaign out of a book and just riffing on whatever the characters were into at the moment. Still, using Pathfinder rules, the speed of play is the killer.

I will say I had fun though, especially when things were flowing more quickly and there was more roleplaying. Again, I think the AP itself kind of ground us all down with the constant fighting. Even with an in-person game I don't really like more than 1 or 2 combats per session.

Fair, Thanks though its been a pleasure!

DM Le Roy Batty, thank you very much for the excellent game you've ran for us over the past year. It's certainly been enjoyable, and I agree with you that the roleplaying parts were very nice.

I get the impression that the APs are quite combat heavy - Pathfinder is more of a miniature/combat based game than second edition, after all.

Also, it's already pretty special for a PbP group to remain together for a full year. I've run quite a few of PFS scenarios (which take typically 4-6 weeks to complete), as well as a couple modules (which take several months). Even for the shorter ones, you'll already notice a drifting focus every now and then. It's straightforward to keep a group going for several weeks, but a few months is already more challenging. My hat is off to you for keeping this game going for over a year!

Everybody, thanks for making this group enjoyable, and have fun in your future endeavours.

Good to see we can part on amicable terms. You were a good team, all. :)

As for combat, I felt that sped the posting up since there were less choices to slow down the decision-making.

Are we interested in finding a DM?
