Hello everyone!
As we finish our first real encounter, I just wanted to check in with everyone and make sure that you're having a good time. I haven't run a play-by-post game before, so please let me know if this is what you expected or if need to clear up some rulings or whatever's on your mind.
Feel free to look at any "DM Dice" spoilers from this encounter if you are feeling curious about what I was rolling.

I am having fun, I haven't played a paladin since 1st edition. I hope I am not being a jerk.
Faster-paced than other PbP games I've been in, which I see as a good sign. :)

Yeah, I think we have a good mix of time zones so that if I check at night and in the morning there's always updates.

Fun fact: was I away for a long time? were the exact words I spoke to the nurse after passing out from an injection (a routine vaccination - everything fine) this morning. I don't get into method acting that much.

Didn't want to drag out the 'going to bed' scene any more. Feeling a bit unrealistic about Kloss going to sleep here, which is why I left 'retired' intentionally vague.

Another GM question: do you have the Demon Hunter's Handbook? I ask because I'm thinking "I should've taken the cold iron warden archetype" and "I hope the GM lets me switch since it won't affect any abilities at 1st level."

I will post again in gameplay in the morning (doesn't stop anyone from continuing to RP or interact with the environment). My IRL group just finished the first book of Rise of the Runelords and I'm pretty beat from that last battle. My Urban Barb/Martial Artist ended up taking at least 90 damage during the fight - but with enough heals and potions we finally beat the last enemy. :)

Cool, I'm running that AP as well, we're nearing the end of book 3. The final BBEG in book 1 nearly TPK'd the party, since they were running with one person less (the barbarian who had died in the previous session).

I was looking at Sacred Servant, minda meh. Does Hospitalier stack with oath against fiends?

He means take their turn after the maggots have taken their turn :)
My initiative modifier is 0 by the way, not +3.

Yeah, I guess that's a little confusing. Everyone may react now except for Survani and Sioned, who will react after the maggots.

Just as a half-tip half-request:
In my PbP posts I picked up a system that another GM used: describe combat as usual, but at the end give a summary of initiative order, highlight whose turn it is, and note actions taken. Currently, that would look like:

You can do your damage rolls right after attacks, unless you're positive it won't hit because of a really low roll. I will update with a AC range as people connect and miss, to move things along quickly (my groups are always keeping track of that stuff in their heads anyway).

You can also use a Heal check on someone every time they are injured, but only once per day or until they are injured again. It would be a good way to save your spells.

One time we were doing a Star Wars campaign, my first as a player, and I was playing a spoiled noble. I rolled 5 20s in a roll for a spot check for lightsaber!
