Verim Pharae |
This is quite the predicament, considering a few things. Sleep is a 1 round and you chose where it is and thats where it happens, problem is, it doesnt discriminate. We also have the issue that they Split up somewhat but not sure if We should make will saves first or not. Or if I should just take m turn assuming somehow it doesnt hit everyone in the room.
DM Nightbringer |
Laris will have to place the 10' radius burst so we can see who it hits. Everyone can act, and I don't really track initiative order at the individual player level. It keeps things simpler with schedules spread out. Verim can act now and Laris can resolve the sleep when she gets teh chance. I'll put a circle on the map that Laris can position.
Round 2
Laris, Maxwell, Mia, Luciana, Tallina, Verim
--------------------------
Women
--------------------------
Tobongo
Laris D'Vagne |
Bleagh, I forgot Sleep had a 1 round casting time thought I'd be able to get it off first. Targeting circle placed, though it's hardly an efficient use of it.
Mia Rumsfield |
That would mean both i and Laris' sleep go off this round. Same here, i had the impression it would go off in the same 1 round.
Mia Rumsfield |
I know, better luck in the future ;). Just saying i forgot it had the 1 round cast.
Go team!!!
Verim Pharae |
Sleep is a powerful spell but just like Enlarge person is limited by the casting time and placement of the spell. Considering it can take multiple things out of the fight/kill them.
Maxwell Lionheart |
Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
As the order to kill his fellow party members washes over him, Maxwell grins. It was one thing for them to have been trying to escape, but given the circumstances, he would have been willing to let that happen. His grin turns into a scoff as he moves just a bit out of the rubble and getting within distance of one of the women. Once again, verim had managed to put himself into a bad, easily flanked position.
The idea of them trying to get him to kill his current compatriots rubbed him a rather bad fashion, but Maxwell's deep-seated inner conflict had managed to supply him with a rather surprising amount of will power.
5 foot step
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
While the ability had been resisted, it still addled his mind somewhat, as it was rather unexpected. This shown rather obviously as his flail missed completely. "I know what you just tried to do, you ignorant fools! This is my last offering!" he says as he stumbles. "Leave this place, and rescind your awful ways! Be gone, and you will be spared! There is NOTHING of worth here that you should die over! Please!" he says as he readies his flail for their response.
Tallina Kapok |
Tallina moves into the room trying to duck under the glaive. While ducking she scoops some dirt into her heavy shield and flings it into the cultists eyes. Hoping to disorient the cultist as she moves to get into a flanking position for Verim.
"Verim, knock her out, I think we all have some questions for her."
Dirty Trick: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Condition: Blinded
Verim Pharae |
Verim laughs as the two women position around him and and attack; one with spell the other with Scythe! As her strike come he parries, his shield reverberating from the impact and bringing a smile to his face. When the Scythe-wielder staggers somewhat and falls to the ground unconscious he is even more ecstatic as his muscles begin to surge with power once again.
" Hora! Alright Alright, Seems you two fell for the bait but couldn't take the heat, eh? I'll give you a right and proper demonstration.. ON HOW TO SWING A WEAPON! TALLINA CATCH HER ARSE WHEN SHE MISSTEPS! "
Verim roars our as he takes advantage of the positioning and slams his shield at the center-mass of the Glaive-Wielder, followed by a duck into a spinning morningstar across the Helmet.
Raging Flanking Twin Shield Bash: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Raging Flanking Twin Morningstar Smash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 241d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
5ft, full attack; Rage round
Verim Pharae |
As Verim placed the finishing blow upon the Glaive-wielder his muscles tense up and he lets out a relieve sigh. He looks down at the two women and shrugs, but as he looks to Maxwell a sly smile begins to creep upon his visage. " I might have been riled up by the battle fervor but I think I heard a miracle! Sir. Maxwell, the Gloom Knight, begging for someone to surrender and repent their ways. If I didnt hear it myself I would think it as believable as a Demon's halo! He's finally taking his Crusader duties seriously, I'm so proud! That's Dark exterior was just a guise I see.. "
Motioning at Maxwell and slapping a knee, though his face becomes serious " Don't make light of an actual Crusader's mission, those words better now be wind Maxwell " Returning immediately to his former cheery demeanor.
" Well, they won't be doing much talking while unconscious... I guess we should disarm them and restrain them a it, take their finger-waggler materials.. and then you ladies can get ta' talkin' .... I still have this arrow in me " He says almost as an afterthought
Tallina Kapok |
With the fighting over for now Tallina moves to the scythe wielder, kicking the scythe away in case she woke up. Going through her pack she grabs the rope and ties the woman up. Thinking a bit she grabs the scythe and gives it a few test swings to test the balance.
"Something like this would be better suited for my spellcasting. I can have a free hand when I need it, and a weapon when I need one. Somebody take the unholy symbol away from the unconscious one. Her magic is useless without it."
I think either myself or Mia grabbed the rope we found earlier, if I have to I'll just use my belt or the spare cloak on her hands. Regardless, with no weapon she isn't as much of a threat.
DM Nightbringer |
The two women wear different wooden symbols about their neck. One wears a bull's head, painted gold. The other wears a symbol that appears to depict crossed insect wings dripping blood.
Each woman has the following gear, in addition to their masterwork weapon and symbol.
potion of cure light wounds, scroll of cause fear, unholy water, masterwork chain shirt, dagger, spell component pouch, 66 gp
Mia Rumsfield |
"Hmm...ah? Another potion of CLW, Max you want this?", she continues searching
"Ugh...foul water."
Oh, a spellscroll, i'm curious what this one's about.
Mia takes the scroll and studies it carefully. Then fakes not understanding it."Laris, Tallina, you want this? I'm unsure what to make of it."
Bluff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
I don't have it yet but it's on my spells list. So i've learned it now, unless i'm forgetting something.
Laris D'Vagne |
I thought you had to "burn" the scroll to add it to your familiar?
SRD
Mia Rumsfield |
Haven't learned spells from scrolls before and looking into the method now. If so she'll keep it aside and set fire to it when she's prepared "Spark"
Mia Rumsfield |
Classes who can learn cause fear: antipaladin 1, bard 1, cleric/oracle 1, inquisitor 1, sorcerer/wizard 1, witch 1;
Maxwell Lionheart |
He throws up a hand and passes on the potion. "Give it to Verim. I can heal myself on a whim." he points out as he grips the 2 unholy symbols in his hand and backs up. "Most definitely cultists... this one... Baphomet again." he points out as he looks over at the next one. "They're both clerics of sorts. Maybe even priests like myself. But this is strange." he says as he pockets the symbol.
"Cultists don't work together with other cults in most circumstances, or at least, they shouldn't. Abyssal lords are greedy with their worshipers. I can't imagine Baphomet and... whoever this is, working together willingly, or at least not their cults" he says. "This might be a little bigger than I thought..." he points out.
Taking the moment to ponder about that, Maxwell turns to look at Verim. "I'm not a crusader, Verim. I am not compassionate towards these women. They're an inconvenience and we waste resources and time in fighting them when they should simply go somewhere else and realize their blasphemy and attempt to absolve themselves. he says.
Kneeling down, he grabs the glaive, placing his flail on his hip, he checks the weapon. "Even now, unarmed and without their false gods, I would let them flee to find their salvation, and it is not out of the kindness of my heart. Were Mia not here, I would kill every single one of them on sight for being such, utter fools... he says as his hand shakes against the glaive. "People like this... I'm certain..." he says, whispering to himself before cutting off.
Snapping his head back to Verim, Maxwell scowls. "You will never be half the crusader that my.." he bites his tongue. "Forget it. What would you have me do with these 2? They'll not sleep forever."
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 ⇒ 7 For the insect symbol
Mia Rumsfield |
Sigh..life is precious, don't just dismiss it unless you are sure they are evil.
"Keep them tied up i suppose is safe. Don't you wish to question them?"
Tallina Kapok |
Looking over the two women, Tallina bends over and grabs the spell component pouch of the one with the scythe she now wields. The woman now tied up with the old cloak should be harmless. Her eyes grow narrow as she looks towards Maxwell.
"We question them. No torture, that is beneath us and it never gives proper information. We offer redemption to fight for the side of good or we throw them in the meat room, bar the door, the time it will take them to get out will be sufficient for us to get where we need to go."
Looking up at her friend who has been a dutiful guard the entire time she beckons him to come over.
"Tobongo, hold her, if she tries anything strange, funny words, if I tell you to do something bad, or if she tries to break free squeeze her. Defend us."
Hoisting the woman up, Tobongo grabs ahold of her in a bear hug. With that Tallina kicks the woman in the shins enough to wake her up.
"You all are good at getting information from people, I talk to plants so my job with her is over."
Laris D'Vagne |
"I may get some use of one of the scrolls, Mia why don't you keep hold of the other for now."
"I don't kill unless its my only option, perhaps we can send them back to the village with Lamm, let them pass judgement upon them according to their own laws?"
Verim Pharae |
Verim snatches up the two potions, drinking one to cure himself of the arrow wound from before and pocketing the other for use later. He smiles at Maxwell though a bit of bite in his voice " Conviction like that is frail and is the reason why Anti-paladins exist, I may not be the best but I don't need to compare myself to other crusader's, we all have the same goal overall.. mine happens to be to protect everyone, including you. Now then lets speak to the lady who was so attached to her scythe. Hello cultist, what does your lord of evil bring this fine afternoon? "
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
18/21
Mia Rumsfield |
At the moment people might be looking awkward at Verim....the thrush flies past everyone chirping slightly.
Like a ball of hay in the old west during a wth moment.....
Laris D'Vagne |
Laris' comment will stand, the Mongelmen are the closest thing we've found to an authority. That said she's not all that sympathetic towards them, if people want to kill them she won't object. She just won't bloody her own hands
Mia Rumsfield |
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
"You should be ashamed of yourself! Didn't your mom teach you any compassion? Life is precious, you've even been spared. Hmpf"
(turns around and sits down)
Expression
Luciana Moretti |
"I'd quit struggling if I were you," Luci said, having moved up and now standing casually beside Tobongo, "we're giving you a chance to get out of this alive. All we need is info on this place which you don't sound too fond of anyway.
So how about it? Pretty good gain for a little chatter."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
DM Nightbringer |
The bound woman calms down, glaring at Luciana. What can I tell you. We've been hiding down here with these animals for weeks now waiting for the attack. When Kenebras finally burns, do I get to have fun. No! I'm stuck here on guard duty, "Waiting for things to calm down."
You don't believe me? The exit is right up that ladder, She nods towards the aclove in the north wall, Go up and see for yourselves. There's not much left of your precious city, or anything else in Mendev for that matter.
Laris D'Vagne |
A fire is burning in Laris' eyes and her goodwill is fading fast. "These creatures display less humanity than the Mongrelfolk, I'm starting to think we should just end them."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 she's not actually trying to intimidate them particularly, they're just getting under her skin.
DM Nightbringer |
The woman licks her lips a little nervously at Laris' anger, before grinning.
That is the spirit. End the lives of all those who anger you. Soon enough you will find yourself a servant of Lord Deskari, in deed if not in name.
I can help you. Lord Deskari offers power and eternal life in His realm to all true followers.
Luciana Moretti |
"Sure, power and eternal life. Second one's not so great if you can't live with yourself over how you got it. That and I've heard that the punishment for failing them is a real b&*!$. At which point that whole 'eternal life' thing really just bites you in the ass." Luci said, calmly and sarcastically.
"Besides; killing everyone who angers you? That's just lazy. What, does Deskari like people who put zero thought into what they do? Who just do the first thing that comes into their head and damn the consequences? He must really burn through his followers; what's your recruitment method? You could probably make a fortune marketing it to militaries."
Mia Rumsfield |
If at any moment the woman escapes her bindings, a Daze is waiting for her.
"I guess you weren't loved at all were you? You are pitiful..."
Tallina Kapok |
Tallina sighs once more. These people are far more insane than she had hoped.
"Aside from telling us that the ladder is here, these people won't be of any help to us. A Shelynite might disagree but I don't think they can be redeemed. Unless the Groetan would like to convert them to his own faith I vote we lock them in the meat room."
She puts the scythe down and calls for a vote.
"All in favor say aye, all against say nay. Aye."
