With Strange Aeons Even Death May Die

Game Master Synxol

We each dwell upon an island forged by our ignorance amidst the black seas of infinity. Should your feeble mind correlate the seemingly disassociated contents of your skull, thus affording you an opportunity to leave your island behind, terrifying vistas of reality will entomb you and you will never know peace.

It was only a matter of time...every species can smell its own extinction. The last ones left won't have a pretty time of it.

Ssilax is almost done, just need to go over spells.

Argon has no spells to worry about, but he's still not done :-)

I think the weekend is tough for some, so I'd really really like to have everyone's sheets ready for action by Sunday night. Let me know if any of you think you won't be able to make that deadline.

I think the Jays prefer to lose the first few games before winning with a Calvinball inning.

Cthulhu-Spawn DM/crazy person

lol, love the almighty awesomeness of Calvin and Hobbes. More games could benefit from infusions of Calvinball.

Right on, I've got Daxniss completed last night, still have 50 GP left. As for her 50 Gp gift, I went with a reverse able cloak, the bright and shiny things at the moment are not to interesting to her.

Unless the Blue jay's forget to say Olly Woogy and bounce everyone where until they find the hidden bonus zone

The Jays will certainly not forget to say that tonight. (fingers crossed)

Here's a MAP, so you get a clear picture of how screwed you all are. I'll include it in my link tonight.

Ditzie is a useful mapping tool, but on a phone or tablet you can't move things around. On a PC you can move things that have not been locked by the author.

What's with all the nudists in this group?

I did a "Knowledge (?)" check using my lowest monster_identification_knowledge_skill, but it could be a bunch higher (12 for Arcana/Nature, 8 for Religion, 13 for Planes), though I'm unsure what sort of skill I need to roll.

So, funny coincidence. Just got back from a concert, in which the pianist played "Piano Concerto for the Left Hand (Ravel)". Then he played an encore, also only with his left hand.

I had no prior knowledge of this, nor did Dainoth.

Was the nat 20 sufficient for Wrathe to be able to use the staff?

Was the 32 sufficient to say what specific denizen of the lower planes snagged Dainoth?

Silver Crusade

I guess staves are like wands - you can use them if the spells are on your class spell list.

To identify item properties, you need a Spellcraft check. Go ahead and make the rolls.

No, it is something you don't recognize, and you're not sure. But very powerful, of that you are certain.

Ssilax: time for sheet review...

- Why do you have a familiar? Is there some archetype or ability that I'm not aware of?
- Which spells have you prepared? The x on your 0-level spells means you have them prepared, right? What about 1st level ones?
- Why is acid splash a bonus spell?
- Under Spell Saves, the spells you have listed look confusing because your class is just like that. To clarify, you get 1 arcane mana + 1 for INT, and 1 divine mana + 1 for Wis, right?
- Holy water vial should have a weight.

I need to review bonus feats and traits, because i've lost track of who got what and why. But I think you got another bonus feat. Stand by and I'll figure that out.

Silver Crusade

Regarding the messenger amulets:

Chatted with Russ about this. I think we agreed that one vocal message and one response equals one use of the device on the part of the initiator. There needs to be a limit on how long someone can drone one, so I'm thinking 1 minute total for both the initial message and the response. What do you think? Too long?

Xthian Shadowcaster Conjurer / Gestalt Druid

I'm game for whatever, even if you want to call it a "short" message.

Is it telepathy (might not work with Dainoth wearing his ring)? Whispered (and can be overheard possibly)?

Sovereign Court

Male Human Unchained Rogue 1

That's sound fine. Who really wants to be on the phone that long anyway. Can't we just text?...haha

For those that post at least once per day for the rest of September I'm offering the following, which comes into being on October 1, your character will get the +1 bonus for Favoured Class bonus to BOTH hit points and skills for all levels, and is fully retroactive should we CLANG to level 1 by then.

Game on!

For those that are posted every day since I posted that ....

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!

Dorian: Sheet review.
- You seriously only came with your clothes, a necklace and a walking stick?
- Is your gold in gold, or gems? How are you carrying them? Lots of little pockets?
- You need to put -2 under Misc Mod in all skills for which you have no ranks (meticulous trait).
- You need a character portrait on your sheet.
- Hit points should be 13, and current hit points too. (Assuming you were awarded the +1/+1 skill pt / hp. Am I right?)
- Your knowledge bonuses (planes, history) should also be reflected in the skills section.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Unchained Rogue 1

Done, and done.

Silver Crusade

Cool, I'll check it soonish.

Could you elaborate on your actions? You just moved. It's just that the game moves slowly, being a play by post, so if you can put a bit more action in your post, and also your intentions, it makes things go faster.

Not a criticism, because I like the Dorian character so far. Just something to speed things up.

Silver Crusade

..^]

Dorian. You were given "250 gp in gems" by Baba Yaga, and the rest was cash in gp or pp or sp. Let's just go with that.... I'm wiliing to let people use the gems as cash, but if they're exchanging them back and forth there may be some "processing fee".

Also, one of your skill bonuses is --2 and it doesn't add that up properly. And at two of your skills with no ranks still don't have the -2 (Disguise, handle animal).

Why thank you for noticing.

<blush>

Done

Aside: Wrathe is accepting a -1 to all attack rolls with his sling and the lower-sized damage value, as he's just using found chunks of rock for his attacks, rather than carrying about bullets. I'm assuming they weigh less than 0.5 pounds each since they are less dense.

1. The Familiar feat came from my bonus feat from DMing. That should be the missing bonus feat you where looking for. I marked it as a bonus feat, as well as my other bonuses. Iron Will was the other bonus feat.

2. I'll get that marked correctly for you.

3. Acid Splash comes from the Dragonkin race, casters get a bonus elemental bonus. "..,all dragonkin arcanists and divine casters gain the ability to cast one extra cantrip with an elemental type (air, earth, fire, or water)."

4. Lol, yeah, the Theurge class is a little tricky when it comes to figuring out the spells.
"1" indicates that the theurge may prepare either an arcane or divine spell of that level per day
"1+1" indicates that the theurge may prepare 1 arcane and 1 divine spell of that level per day
"2+1" indicates that the theurge has the choice of preparing either 2 arcane spells and 1 divine spell or 2 divine spells and 1 arcane spell of that level per day
"2+2" indicates that the theurge may prepare 2 arcane and 2 divine spell of that level per day.
Not including bonuses for high Int and Wis.

5. Fixed.

Silver Crusade

Ssilax: Okay, that's all good.

No point in taking x2 of a given spell since we use mana. You can use your mana on any spell you've prepared that day, so may as well spread them out as you could still cast 2 CLW spells.

One more sheet to go.

Michael New wrote:

Are you meaning that he would have access to all of his cleric mana to cast his wizard spells and vice versa?

Would that not provide a full mana pool of a wizard, with the versatility of two classes in one character? (e.g. an unmodified level 5 theurge and wizard both have 10 mana, but the wizard only can cast wizard spells/cantrips).

Cthulhu-Spawn DM/crazy person

Not until 4th level, than Theurges can use arcane to cast divine and vice verse. It just would cost more mana (or use a higer spell slot). This cost decreases as the character levels up. By 20th, they can freely cast from both types of magic without a penalty.

Otherwise the two mana pools are separate.

3rd party theurge be creeping into my territory, yo. I might have to pull my 9 and put a cap in its collective gluteous maximus.

Michael New wrote:
Loki, how did you roll initiatives in the past?

I had started out, in days of yore, with requesting that the players roll, which turned out to add days to every encounter. I pushed for speed to make up for it, then became the foremost cheerleader for daily posting expectations (as each of you know after playing with me for so long), but it was still agonizingly slow.

After trying a few other methods I just threw a D20 into my backpack, a digital die roller as a bookmark (https://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm), or now that we're on these boards you could roll it straight up in the thread, and have a note of everyone's bonus, so I can roll for initiatives for the group.

I used to post initiative order, but that is also fraught with peril since Russ might be able to post early in the day, but he could easily have the entire group before him, so he hasn't been "tagged" in yet. Instead of seeing Russ' actions, he logs off for the day and we miss a whole day of him posting as a result (this is further compounded with multiple foes that have actions in between group member actions).

Solution was group initiative. I roll for both sides, then figure out who has the top roll on each side, and the side with the highest roll goes first. I tag one group, then the other group after everyone has posted. Everyone has 24 hours to post from the point of my post, and those that snooze miss out on their actions. I also like that it rewards the keen; if you have a great action that has to be done early in the combat, then camp out and wait for the DM's post.

Thus far I haven't found anything faster that is flexible enough to let everyone post when they're free. Worst case scenario you're waiting on the DM, but you're doing that in every system, so hopefully the DM is the most frenetic poster in the group.

p.s. I am oft a secretive bastard, which is why you don't see any initiative rolls on the Paizo site, since I am lazy (that's a lot of formatting), am often posting from my EyeFon (I would probably punch a nun after all that formatting on such a little screen), and I like to hide the bad guy's bonuses if I can (don't convey that information!) and sometimes their name if it's yet to be revealed (that's not a large salamander, it's a tiny dragon!), which is why often I call the bad guys "evil" when I tag the group.

I fixed that, added Bless, instead of x2 Cure Lights. The Eberron game I was playing didn't use the Mana Pool system we use. Little bit of confusion on my part, lol.

Only a 9? Come now, that's barely a flesh wound, hardly noticeable. At least use an incendiary round to make it a little exciting for me.

Definitely group initiative is what we'll be doing. I was just wondering if you did some kind of root-mean-square average of the group's bonuses and rolled once; but it looks like you roll for each character and take the best?

Questions:
Was that a surprise round?
If so, wouldn't Dorian be able to act, since he knew something was there?
If so, wouldn't he roll initiative to see if he acts before the skeleton play story freak?
If a surprise round, wouldn't we only get a move or a standard?
Also, was he prone (-4)?

I only ask, because Dorian can't be healed conventionally...lol!

Silver Crusade

..^]

Good questions. No there was no surprise round because you both knew of each others' presence. I rolled initiatives, and skelly actually got a 25 (and won).

He was not prone.
