Duhwoo has purchased a Major Ring Of Inner Fortitude (42k), and upgraded his Belt of Physical Perfection from +2 to +4 (48k). He's also procuring potions of Fly, Remove Blindness/Deafness, Remove Disease, some Scrolls of Restoration, and probably a Scroll of Greater Restoration...
level'd up character sheet should up tomorrow night...

Duhwoo is updated to 17th level. Note that he now has Combat Reflexes: when he uses his "Come and Get Me" rage power, he gets to interrupt up to 4 enemy attacks with his own AoOs!
He used 2PA to have his faction get a wand of Endure Elements for him -- he cannot cast via the wand himself, however. Four additional PA was spent to obtain 2 potions of Fly.
He also procured a diamond worth 5,000gp -- and he advises the new cleric of this diamond's availability (in his Haversack), so that cleric can use the gem as a material component in the eventuality of Duhwoo needing a Raise Dead. (Hopefully it will be used as Material Component for Greater Restoration instead, before Duhwoo dies -- but the cleric should know of the stone in case Duhwoo cannot tell him...)
I put a skill point into Linguistics: Duhwoo can now speak Auran, and can order air elementals about!

Just a heads up Darvik, Greater Resto has a 5k diamond dust material comp and Resurection is 10k worth.. Didn't want you memorizing spells you couldn't cast if you don't have the dust is all..
Have you played this high level of a cleric before? If not might I humbly suggest a few spells that are good/great in certain situations?

![]() |

Yeah, with some people at 17 already, we're rather stuck. I would almost suggest those who are 17 now take 1/2 track XP so we can do more stuff, but that is up to them.

![]() |

I hadn't noticed that Greater Restoration needs 5k of diamond dust -- I thought Duhwoo's 5k diamond was a dual-use material component! So that means Darvik will of course conclude that the best way to fix Duhwoo when the hillbilly needs Greater Restoration will be to simply kill him, and use Raise Dead instead...
BTW, Duhwoo is also carrying 3 scrolls of Restoration (the 380gp kind) which only the cleric (or a high-UMD type) can actually cast...
AND let me declare now that Duhwoo is doing the 1/2 XP track (which in this case might be appropriately referred to as the slow, or "short bus", track) for this level.

Vars has a new motto:
"If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it."
From here.
Some good lines in there.

3rd-5+1
4th-5+1
5th-5+1
6th-3+1

I would consider taking Quickend Spell if I were you.. It's a must have at this level imo.. It seems you going for the melee beats 1st, healer 2nd type cleric and having a full attack with a spell is optimal.. You could for instance cast a quickend divine power and stand righteous might and be ready to go in 1 round..

Holy fuk now thats a scroll collection.. Im seriously wowed by it.. In a good way..
My only comment would be if you knew cleanse and channel vigor are self only? Both are quality i just wanted to make sure..
Also sry if all this has been overwhelming.. Stepping into a 16th level guy can be a challenge.. Sry if ive been an ass.. I dont mean too but ive heard it bf lol

I wish I'd known this was here. I could have used the suggestions before spending all night figuring out what I want to carry. I may switch to some of those on subsequent days. I don't intend to throw any damage spells since we've got more than enough spell casting in the party. I don't intend to do any front line fighting, because we've got more than enough damage output in the party. Now...giants and undead are a serious temptation to get up front and do some damage, but since it takes me 3 rounds to be up to fighting, that's not likely to ever happen since again I'll be focusing on removing conditions and removing specials from the bad guys.
My idea here is to be a person that can stand in the front row, but only as a place holder. Mostly I'm here to cure and remove conditions. To that end, I've made Darvik pretty difficult to damage/hinder. The lower level self only spells mean that if I get hit with something I can remove it with a lower level spell in order to remove it from others next. I have lots of reach ability and a ton of support spells. I use scrolls extensively (and constantly have to remind myself it takes a move action to get a scroll out of the handy haversack).
The big reason this was overwhelming is that I have a giant massive amount of stuff going on right now. Very busy job, potentially radically more busy new job, defcon this weekend, burning man at the end of the month, plus just normal life stuff. I should be up to speed at this point, trying to find a good way to make my character available to me wherever I am and have network access. Dropbox should take care of that, except at work.

sigh I failed to make sure I had the big spell components. I guess I'll just have to mine for diamonds when I need them.

![]() |
I'll see what I can do. I ran my cash down pretty tight to get what I've got. Most likely I'll just throw those expensive spells from scrolls so I don't have to worry about it.

![]() |
Ok, I'm heading to DefCon in a few hours. I'll login every morning and every evening for at least a little while. Feel free to bot me anytime the party is waiting on me.
Darvik avoids fighting except to protect the party, kill giants or kill undead. Even then his priority is protecting the party.
My resources are for the use of the party. Only use reach spells if I can't haste and get there soon enough, and then use the Rods before the metamagic spells. Those are for emergency use when someone has to have it now and I can't get there.
I appear to have accidentally removed divine favor from my spells memorized, so if a new day starts I'm planning to add one of those.
I use status and deathwatch which are both always on to keep track of the party and heal people as needed. If anybody yells for help, I try to get to them as soon as I can without endangering myself too much.

quick edit, i am not rolling all saves, but i am rolling simple ones, like a reflex against the breath of the wolves.
also in general if i am having to roll a ton of dice i am using my phone app, it is just 30 times faster, same with init as i have that set up on my phone for a single touch.
finally note that the HP numbers on the map are current.

![]() |
Got it.
And yes, Darvik never really got the whole casting defensively/worrying about AoOs thing people always complain about. He's almost never taken damage from throwing spells or walking out of combat.

![]() |
*sigh* I have got to remember to check this as often as the other messageboard. If it's still going off, I'm likely dead.

![]() |
I'm sure those hit point totals aren't correct. Should we be updating our own hit point totals or are you doing it?

MiniGM |

not sure Avoreal, it is not listed anywhere. I am pretty sure that the module is not expecting you to just be able to remove the curse, I would set it at 30 had it mattered
also I have a feeling we are going to steamroll this.
other than that geyser...that is dick...I have a feeling that there is only one or two fights that might draw a drop of sweat

![]() |

The item we are looking for is listed in the d20PRD and it required a caster level of 25, so she has to be at least that.

![]() |

Hell, I'm looking at the stats for a Great Wyrm, and that might have at least been a decent fight. CR 18. This is a level 16 module right? I guess it's about expending resources.
