Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

Malden whispers a quick prayer to Sarenrae, thanking the goddess for granting him the power of flame and guiding his aim.

Bribes always welcome

OK. I'm not seeing an action by Esme, so lets say she's shocked and hold over her action. It is now you guy's attack again, feel free to post

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

Has the flying creature stayed within melee reach or are we only going to reach it with ranged attacks this round?

Male Human (Ulfen) Urban Barbarian 2 [HP 36/36; AC 17]

Dodging the blast of cold air, Gaelin quickly retaliates with another swing of his sword.

Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Cold iron damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 5) + 9 = 20

Wow. Almost max damage. That should be pretty devastating.

Human ranger 2; Init +5; Per +6; AC 17/t 13/ff 14; Fort +5, Ref +8, Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 18; HP 32/32

The Twang Twins try again:

Alikai atk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 plus favored enemy bonus if fae
Alikai dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 plus favored enemy bonus if fae

Sahsara shortbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
shortbow dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Bribes always welcome

That does it

The creature plummets to the ground, dead. It is a blue far female, about a half-meter tall with ice-blue skin

Good job

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

“All, well done,” says Malden. He peers down at the dead creature. “Do any of you know what it was?”

Human ranger 2; Init +5; Per +6; AC 17/t 13/ff 14; Fort +5, Ref +8, Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 18; HP 32/32

Knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 +2 if fae

"Blue?" Alikai ventures, scratching her head as she kneels to examine the little dead thing.

Alikai:

Spoiler:
Alikai can tell it is not a fae. It has a much too solid build for that. However, it is not a creature of field or forest. It (her??) body is a rich blue color and her hair is stark white. Her leathery wings are batlike, and her features are almost goblinish. Alikai thinks she has heard of minor elemental creatures known as mephits that have this body style and a breath weapon. Perhaps this is one?

Male Oread Arctic Druid 2

Sorry for the long silence. Things are settling down for me finally.

Jeydavu comes up beside Alikai. "Can you tell what it was Alikai?"

Human ranger 2; Init +5; Per +6; AC 17/t 13/ff 14; Fort +5, Ref +8, Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 18; HP 32/32

"I think it's another one of those things that knocked me off that bridge," Alikai responds, hoping that her companions will start remembering the event that way instead of the clumsy slip that it was, "I don't think they are very smart. They probably just moved in when the woods turned cold like they like. Other kinds live in the heat, like in volcanos or hot springs, but this kind likes the cold."

She digs a quick trench in the snow, places the thing inside, and covers it over. "Not the masterminds of the situation that we're looking for. I mean, really, if you were that size, would you out and out attack this group, alone?" She shrugs.

"Anybody injured? Should we proceed?"

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

How do you fare Gaelin?” Malden asks. “If you require healing, please but ask.

Male Human (Ulfen) Urban Barbarian 2 [HP 36/36; AC 17]

"I've sustained worse injuries in childhood games of 'capture the flag'," Gaelin says with a boyish grin. "We should move on."

HP 31 out of 36. We can save the healing, I think.

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

"Let us proceed then."

The group heads out into the early morning snow. They have reached the valley floor, a heavily wooded section, but there is a wide path leading into the heart of the valley. As they advance, they see a clearing emerging ahead. There seem to be some sort of rounded buildings scattered within in. A small hill flanks the western edge of the clearing, also heavily forested. The trail leads right to it. The cold is getting very intense now

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

Malden brushes damp, limp hair from his brow and pulls his scarf up around his chin. “This is miserable,” he mutters, although despite his words and tone, the cold doesn’t actually seem to be impacting him as badly as it is some of his companions. He seems to forget his discomfort momentarily upon looking down into the clearing.

Are those huts of some type? Could someone be living here? I suggest we proceed with caution.

Male Human (Ulfen) Urban Barbarian 2 [HP 36/36; AC 17]

"Perhaps we ought to send a scout to investigate whether anyone has been sheltering in those huts. If so we need to be careful about announcing ourselves," Gaelin suggests.

As the group mulls over their options there comes a strange flittting, buzzing noise from above. As if a giant hummingbird was flying about in the snow swirls above them

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

"Another of the blue elemental kin perhaps?" Malden wonders out loud, peering upwards through the snow.

Human ranger 2; Init +5; Per +6; AC 17/t 13/ff 14; Fort +5, Ref +8, Will +4; CMB +3; CMD 18; HP 32/32

"Maybe this was... I mean is... a logging camp or something. We may be able to gain shelter here." Alikai trails off at the buzzing sound overhead.

"I'm hoping it's just a really noisy snowflake," she replies to Malden's conjecture, nocking an arrow and half-drawing her bow as she squints up into the snow.

Per: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

The buzzing dies away, but ..

Any perceptions, please post

Male Oread Arctic Druid 2

"Let's try to get closer before we send out a scout. I think we can make it through the forest to that hill overlooking the clearing without being seen," suggests Jeydavu. He peers intently at the clearing and forest trying to see if anything is amiss.

perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Jeydavu sees activity amongst the domed structures. Hard to tell from this distance and in the blowing snow, but there seems to be figures moving there

Lets head over to the hill if we can as suggested.

Bribes always welcome

You can walk straight into the clearing with the domed igloo looking buildings. It's on the same plane as you. However, someone is doing something now

As you watch a large figure comes striding through the snow at a quick pace as if skipping through a grassy field. Blue warty skin covers this tall thin figure, and a massive spear is clutched in its warty hands

Init please!

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

Malden's modifier is +1, so 17 for me.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human (Ulfen) Urban Barbarian 2 [HP 36/36; AC 17]

Gaelin's initiative is +2

So much for a stealthy approach, Gaelin muses to himself. His sword at the ready, he calls out to the charging spear-carrier, "Halt! Lower your weapon and identify yourself!" He is quickly beginning to wonder whether hailing these strange creatures will ever be fruitful.

"Oh dear, big guy." Sahsara nocks an arrow, then calls to the warty blue figure in Sylvan, "Hail, friend. We come in peace!"

Readying an action to fire if it makes a hostile move against a party member.

Male Oread Arctic Druid 2

Jeydavu watches the figure approach. He prepares to cast entangle if the figure takes hostile action.

The large creature laughs and brandishes its spear

"YOU HAVE COME TO THE WRONG PLACE TO COME IN PEACE, WARMLANDERS!"

It's actions are pretty hostile. I'm going to have to beg off as I am unable to access the module ATM, but your characters are certain this creature means you no good

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

Waiting to determine the result of the entangle spell.

Bribes always welcome

Sorry. I've been very distracted

Jeydavu, reading the Entangle spell, you need vegetation unless it's the mythic version. Although there is vegetation here, it is buried under two meters of snow, and stone dead. Would you like to retcon another action?

"Oh dear. Why is he so angry?" Sahsara fires at the approaching, club-waving, yelling dude.

"So... so, just go away!" she yells at the aggressor as her arrow zips past his ear, "Last warning shot!"

"I hope there's not a whole group of these blue men," she murmurs to her companions.

I'm not even gonna roll damage anymore unless I can hit a 90yo commoner.

lol

Male Oread Arctic Druid 2

Jeydavu begins to cast entangle but then realizes that the vegetation will not survive this unseasonably cold weather. Instead, he casts shillelagh'on his quarterstaff. He stands ready for the creature to approach. He tells Chonthoth to stand ready to move into a flank if the creature allows it.

Male Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae 2; hp 22/22; AC 18, t 11, ff 17; F +4, R +1, W +6; active effects: Nil

Malden offers a prayer to Sarenrae and the blade of his scimitar begins to glow red hot, steam rising from it in the cold air

Casts Sun Metal.

"Then you leave me no choice!" Gaelin exclaims, with a flair for the melodramatic. He charges at the creature.

Anyone wanna do Esme?

Male Human (Ulfen) Urban Barbarian 2 [HP 36/36; AC 17]

The 15 will hit since I charged.

Esme

Esme closes in on the combat and conjures a long vine from her arm, which tries to ensnare the troll.

Male Human (Ulfen) Urban Barbarian 2 [HP 36/36; AC 17]
