Race and Class Abilities:

Crowd control: At 1st level, an urban barbarian gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC when adjacent to two or more enemies. In addition, her movement is not impeded by crowds, and she gains a bonus equal to 1/2 her barbarian level on Intimidate checks to influence crowds.

Controlled rage: When an urban barbarian rages, instead of making a normal rage she may apply a +4 morale bonus to her Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. This bonus increases to +6 when she gains greater rage and +8 when she gains mighty rage. She may apply the full bonus to one ability score or may split the bonus between several scores in increments of +2. When using a controlled rage, an urban barbarian gains no bonus on Will saves, takes no penalties to AC, and can still use Intelligence-, Dexterity-, and Charisma-based skills. This ability otherwise follows the normal rules for rage.
[Rage 8 rounds/day]

(A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.)

Uncanny dodge: At 2nd level, a barbarian gains the ability to react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She cannot be caught flat-footed, nor does she lose her Dex bonus to AC if the attacker is invisible. She still loses her Dexterity bonus to armor class if immobilized. A barbarian with this ability can still lose her Dexterity bonus to armor class if an opponent successfully uses the feint action against her.

Rage Powers:
Powerful blow: The barbarian gains a +1 bonus on a single damage roll. This bonus increases by +1 for every 4 levels the barbarian has attained. This power is used as a swift action before the roll to hit is made. This power can only be used once per rage.

Feats and Traits:

Power Attack
Weapon Focus (greatsword)

Northern Ancestry: +1 trait bonus to Fortitude saves and cold resistance 2.
Orphaned: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Survival checks, and Survival is always a class skill for you.

No one can rightly say how Gaelin, a strapping lad of obvious Ulfen heritage, found himself on the streets of Oppara. For many years, he survived on the streets through a combination of finesse and brute strength. Always, though, he felt like nothing more than a useful tool. By his late teens, he had already done a turn aiding a local burglar, was conscripted briefly into a mercenary band, and was kept for a time by a vain noblewoman.

At the age of 16, he once again came into contact with an aged swordswoman named Gildene. She first came to know Gaelin when the lad tried to pick her pocket on the streets of Oppara. An experienced and streetwise adventurer, she took an interest in the fair-haired urchin. When she found him years later, she offered to take him away from the city to her cottage outside Heldren. There she oversaw his training and also introduced him to the teachings of Desna. She was impressed by the young man's talents, and, in her, Gaelin found a true mentor.

Outwardly, Gaelin bears himself with the refined manners of a Taldane. He can be in turn both thoughtful and charming. Underneath the surface lies a rage which occasionally rises to the surface. Whether it is truly a result of his northern blood or a deep-seated anger over his abandonment and deprivation, no one can quite be sure, but he has learned to channel his rage into his art with the greatsword.

After so many years being used by other people, he bears a deep revulsion for conditions of oppression and forced servitude. His reverence for Desna manifests as a desire to see all people be free to achieve their true potential. He is loyal to those few people he calls his friends, and always seeks to aid the oppressed and downtrodden.
