Athromar Karthis |
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Athromar is too distracted by the fallen Gaelin to spot the foes.
He quickly casts a spell to heal the already wounded Warrior.
Cure Light Wounds swapping out Magic Weapon 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Wow.
Ecaterina DMPC |
Ecaterina rushes to Gaelin's side.
"Gealishka!"
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW
The young witch's hands glow as she places them around Gaelin's chest wound
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36
Ecaterina yells
"The sviney are by the crooked fir, the holly tree and that big fallen trunk there!"
She points to the areas
Athromar Karthis |
That is why I DM table top games, at least the dice roller gives me a chance of making half-way decent rolls...
Athromar Karthis |
Remind me again how that works DM? Just provide my modifier or roll and you take the averages? Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Dungeon Monkey |
Initiatives (Winter is Coming)
Ecaterina: 21 [clw]
Tama 19
Athromar: 19 [clw]
Tristan: 17
Gaelin 17
Jeydavu: 17
Bandits: 14 [bows ]
The rest of the party can see the three bandits now that Ecaterina has shouted their positions. They are about thirty meters from them, within the trees at the edge of the clearing. They draw their bowstrings back for another volley
Tristan Vaughan |
Tristan concentrates briefly and a dark pallor comes over his features. He points at the center bandit, and a globe of darkness falls upon them, protecting his allies from another barrage. He'll then advance towards the treeline.
You did mean 30 meters (i.e. 90 feet), right? If they're only 30 feet away, I'll just charge instead.
Jeydavu of Hellirinn |
Tama goes before Jeydavu. If she wants to try to negotiate, Jeydavu will hold his action. Otherwise he will pull out his sling and take a shot.
Jeydavu pulls out his sling, and takes a shot at one of the bandits.

Tristan that is a darkness spell yes?
Tama, Moon's Daughter |
Tama advances, an arrow nocked to the string of her massive recurved bow. She speaks to the bandits in her soft, low voice.
"You are outnumbered. Lay down your weapons, and we can settle this peacefully."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
And my string of bad rolls continues...

[dice="Diplomacy]1d20 + 6
And my string of bad rolls continues...
Looking at the skill rules, Diplomacy wouldn't work in a combat situation. Intimidate, maybe. I'll let you have a do over if you want another action
Relevant passage:
Athromar Karthis |
So those were not really poorly rolled warning shots? :-)
Tama, Moon's Daughter |
It's what my character would probably do in that situation, the roll wasn't great to begin with, and she doesn't have ranks in Intimidate, so you can just keep going down the initiative order. Starting to see the drawbacks inherent in an extremely specialized character...
Dungeon Monkey |
Gaelin gets to his feet and heads toward the attackers, drawing his sling as he does so.
Stand and move, ideally ending my turn behind some sort of cover - a tree or shrub. No use standing out in the open against archers.
Gealin stands and darts behind a nearby ash, a stone whirling in his sling

Initiatives (Winter is Coming)
Ecaterina: 21 [clw]
Tama 19 [talk-fire?]
Athromar: 19 [clw]
Tristan: 17 [darkness]
Gaelin 17 [tacticsl retreat]
Jeydavu: 17 [charge]
Bandits: 14 [bows ]
Another volley of arrows head out. One to Tama, one to Jeydavu and one towards Ecaterina
Tama: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d6 ⇒ 5
Ecaterina: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d6 ⇒ 2
Jeydavu: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -11d6 ⇒ 1
The arrow being shot out of the darkness globe goes totally awry, finding one of the other hidden ambushers. A howl goes up from the tree line
Tama if you want to attack you can-talking to them ill adjudge a free action. If no, then we are at the top of initiative again. Your go..
Athromar Karthis |
Round 2
Taking a knee, Athromar fires his heavy crossbow at the bowman on the left.
Heavy Crossbow 1d20 ⇒ 4
Bolt Damage 1d8 ⇒ 8
Miraculously the bolt manages to not even damage the ground it lands on... Ground very far away from the intended target.
Jeydavu of Hellirinn |
Jeydavu spies the bandit hiding among the trees. He barks a command and Chtonthoth circles around to the other side of the person. The moose lowers its head and drives its antlers into the foe.
gore: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9, damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Jeydavu steps up into the flank and swings with his quarterstaff.
gore: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10, damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Dungeon Monkey |
Man the dice roller is not y'all's friend :/
Jeydavu's and Chtonthoth's attacks are thwarted by intervening tree branches. The bandit has dropped his bow and has drawn a wicked sword.
Gaelin's cast fails to find its mark, burying itself in a large oak's trunk
Just Tama's attack, then the bandits, then another round! Woohoo!
Tama, Moon's Daughter |
Tama drops to one knee, takes careful aim at the bandit who has just drawn his sword, and lets fly two more shafts.
Attack (composite longbow): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23; Confirm critical: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage (if normal hit): 1d8 ⇒ 4; Damage (if critical hit): 3d8 ⇒ (7, 5, 3) = 15
Attack (composite longbow): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Jeydavu of Hellirinn |
Tama drops to one knee, takes careful aim at the bandit who has just drawn his sword, and lets fly two more shafts.
[dice="Attack (composite longbow)]1d20 + 3; [dice="Confirm critical]1d20 + 5
[dice="Damage (if normal hit)]1d8; [dice="Damage (if critical hit)]3d8
[dice="Attack (composite longbow)]1d20 + 3
[dice="Damage]1d8
Finally you get some decent rolls. Jeydavu is very appreciative of your timing.
Athromar Karthis |
Round 3
Athromar will head towards the battle at the tree line, full movement.
Jeydavu of Hellirinn |
Jeydavu scans the tree line for the other hidden bandit. perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
He moves in the direction of the hidden bandit.
IF he can reach him (15 feet of movement) in one action he and Chonthoth will strike.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15, damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
gore: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13, damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
add +2 to jeydavu if he can get a flank either from Chonthoth of Tristan
