all your plans are valid. One point though: Cala's tree standing up kinda ruins your stealthy ambush.
As trunky the tree creaks and rises nearby in the forest, the pretty girl with the lute startles and is quick to respond:
"they've seen us! disperse!"
...they do so.
Both parties are now aware of each other - that probably means... initiative.
Aerent: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Caladwhen: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Morvius: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Oret: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Sindran: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
party: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Sindran Eithe |

You forgot to remove Aerent from the party initiative! But I suppose I'll go first.
Sindran huffs and moves to intercept the adventurers before they spread out. He raises a hand and utters a chant, releasing his consciousness from the material plane. It easily connects to the Abyss where it calls upon a demon to do the half-orc's bidding.
Casting Summon Monster III to summon a Dretch for 7 rounds. Putting it about 50 ft. from the adventurers.
A black fire issuing dark smoke materializes in the forest some distance away from the adventurers. Despite its apparent heat, the fire burns nothing and the smoke stays in place, gathering until it eventually corporealizes as a Dretch. The obsidian fire remains, moving across the demon's skin like tar.
Took some liberty with the appearance. It doesn't get the template, but I like the idea of anything Sindran summoning getting a makeover.
Satisfied, Sindran orders the demon to relay everything it sees to him before issuing a telepathic command.
Dretch casts Stinking Cloud [CL 2] (Fort Negates, DC 13) in a 20 ft. radius for 2 rounds, trying to include all the adventurers.

Oret Stonechild |

Assuming Oret can see/run to/attack the cleric...
Using his incredible speed, Oret swiftly approaches the priest and lashes out with his fist.
Attack (Unarmed Strike, Power Attack, Fighting Defensively, Haste): 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 = 24
Damage (Unarmed Strike, Power Attack, Non-lethal): 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 4 = 17
EDIT: Haste attack bonus

Talon Dalkar |

Assuming I can reach their leader.
Talon descends on their tough leader with a furious auran war cry. "You shall not pass!" Talon and the four images of him come down in a furious storm of feathers and lightning.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 2 + 1 + 20 + 2 = 47
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 + 7d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 + (3, 5, 5, 5, 2, 5, 5) = 40 + empowered = 55
Don't forget you're hasted Oret.
Attack = +5 Bab, +4 STR, +2 Magic (Bladebound), +1 haste, +20 true strike, +2 charging
Damage = 1d6 weapon, +4 STR, +2 Magic (Bladebound), +7d6*1.5 Empowered Shocking Grasp
AC = 10, +1 dex, +9 armor, +1 haste, +4 shield, -2 charging, = 23
Mirror Images: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Morvius Zaan |

Morvius grinds his multiple rows of teeth as he hears the cry and watches the targets scatter: That elf and her minions - as subtle as a Pesh junkie
He sees Oret approach the priest and he suspects that Talon will take out the leader - he will therefore throw his stink bomb at any target more than 10 ft. away from either the priest or the leader, so as not to choke his allies.
Target selection in order of preference:
- Half-elf bard
- Dwarf smith
- Human brawler

![]() |

Yeah, my bad guys... should have left the pets at home.
Actually, don't feel bad. You made this encounter interesting. They probably wouldn't have had a chance otherwise.
Right! lot's of stuff happening at once - that's a sign of an effective ambush.
The party breaks into a well-rehearsed trio; the Brawler and the Nun break right, while Hallack and the Bard break left.
The noisy dwarf just moves straight on - surprisingly quickly, as well.
Not that this helps much, because the terrible artillery you release upon the fleeing intruders causes great damage.
Stinking cloud
fort save DC13, Sister Martha: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
fort save DC13, James O'Toole: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
The released stench causes Sister Martha to buckle and vomit - and then, through the smoke, Oret charges in and smacks the serene woman in the chest.
Oret vs Stinking Cloud, Fort DC13: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
The Nun bends double and wheezes as Oret deftly knocks the air out of her. 17 non lethal
Oret vs Sanctuary, will DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25great save!
Only after he hits her, he notices that the woman emanates an aura that at his resolve - but not enough to pose a problem.
Oret is within the stinking cloud - roll another save on your next turn. Blame the Dretch - it hates nuns.

![]() |

On the other side of the battlefield, Morvius' bottle of pain hits the pretty singer right between the eyes. As Halthus' entrails' odors fill her surrounding area with disgusting smoke, both she and Hallack are affected by the nasty acidic bite of Halthus' semi-digested last meal.
Critical damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 1) = 19
No - 1d6+7 as Oret pointed out. 14 normal + 13 crit is not bad, though.
fort save vs smoke bomb DC18, Bianca: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
From behind, four Talons come down from the sky and strike Hallack in the back with a massive swing of his burning blade. The victim instantly relaxes, slides off the sword and collapses in a heap beside his vomiting lover.
They don't look so cute together anymore.
As a grand finale, Cala's red-hot fireball hits the running dwarf and
causes disturbing blue flames where it mingles with the existing green smoke. Screams / coughs of pain can be heard from friend and foe alike.
reflex save, Yorgun: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 evaded
reflex save, James: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 evaded
reflex save, Martha: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 25
reflex save, Bianca: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 12
I love how the fireball was shot into melee...! I'll make use of that, thank you.
reflex save, Talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 25
reflex save, Oret: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 12
Bianca:39, nauseated.
Hallack:9+55
Nun:25 fire, 17 Nun-lethal (heh)
Talon 25
Oret 12
Sister Martha collapses into an unconscious heap; she has suffered more nun-lethal damage than she has hitpoints remaining.

![]() |

Bianca moves out of the fog, provoking Talon.
James tries to drag sister Martha out of the fog, provoking Oret.
Yorgun looks behind him, seeing Hallack and sister Martha down. He runs, hasted, double move = 100ft.
spot traps: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
spot traps: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
spot traps: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
spot traps: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
And he deftly dodges the traps Talon has put in place.

Talon Dalkar |

Talon seethes as he feels his feathers burn off, the joy of battle turning into rage. He cuts at Bianca when she leaves an opening, but narrows his eyes at the fleeing Yorgun. He takes off, flapping his wings hard twice and feeling the fire burn out as chases down the little bastard. He easily catches up, bringing his blade down and lighting it aflame.
AoO: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 1 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + (1) = 6
Assuming being hasted and having a 60ft fly speed would allow me to catch up to him. Hopefully next turn I can augment my attack with a spell...two 1's. I just cut their fighter in half and now I can hardly prick this guy's hide.

Sindran Eithe |

The dretch sees the dwarf attempt to escape and reports it back to Sindran. It waits a moment, receiving a confirmation from the half-orc and a new order, before heckling madly and scurrying off to help Oret.
It'll go help Oret secure the nun. Is it able to reach? Not sure what the outcome of the AoO will be so I'll wait until I see the results.
Sindran, watching from far away, contemplates the information before raising his hand next to him. He chants again, spreading his consciousness to another plane and establishes it into Hell, reaching for a creature to do his bidding.
Casting Summon Monster III again to summon a Cheetah which can sprint i.e. it charges, able to move 500 feet (!) so I am assuming that it can reach Yorgun. Fiendish template, of course, and lasts for 7 rounds.
Appearing like the dretch before it, dark fire forms itself next to the half-orc and a large feline materializes from its smoke. The fire sticks to the cat most noticeably at its tail and a closer look reveals that the spots of the animal seem to be formed of fire as well. The cheetah growls lowly and Sindran turns his head to look at it before saying a single word.
"Go."
The beast sprints forward at the half-orc's command, chasing down Yorgun in the distance. The distance between it and the retreating dwarf is quickly diminished and its maw fills with dark fire to bring down its prey.
Smite Good!
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 3 = 10 1d6 + strength + smite good
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Critical Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 3 = 8
Trip (included in Bite): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Talon Dalkar |

Not to rain on your parade Sindran, but I've been playing summoning type casters for years and I have had one thing drilled into my head: Summon Monster is a full round action. Creature will appear at the beginning of your next turn. However I do enjoy the backup, trip is fantastic right now!

![]() |

Yorgun's 100ft walk will easily bring him into the forest.
Talon is quick enough to reach the forest edge flying, but the jungle is difficult terrain, to say the least. Talon would know with one look that flying at high speed through there is currently impossible.
Remember how Talon's last date ended near Balentyne? B!tch-onna-stick..? Now try flying through an even denser jungle than that, and you will have a lot more to worry about that just the lowest branches :)

Oret Stonechild |

AoO vs. James (Unarmed Strike, Power Attack, Fighting Defensively, Haste): 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 = 23
Damage (Unarmed Strike, Power Attack): 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 4 = 12
FWIW, Oret would move at 140 at a double move, and can do a full run at 280, if Talon wants to take over with the two here...

![]() |

Not our most organized fight, eh?"
That is **exactly** the point of this fight. good thinking.
Perhaps when this is over, you can figure out a way to improve ;) but first, clean up.And no metagaming until it's over, please, oret and especially morvius... :(
If oret wants to chase the dwarf, he should. Talon already is.
Even if hold person was cala's very next idea, she'll have to think of something new to do - I really really do not like ooc discussions about other player's actions.
Asmodeus frowns on that sort if thing...

Morvius Zaan |

Not our most organized fight, eh?"
No, but we are (I hope!) learning - this is, what, our 2nd fight as a group? And the first without Aerent....
Morvius surveys the results of the ambush with satisfaction: the priestess is down, the fighter has been skewered by Talon and the bard is incapacitated. That leaves the human brawler and the fleeing dwarf. "Oret, by all means please pursue that smith - I think we can take it from here."
Stink bomb, ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Targeting the human still standing
Damage: 4d6 + 5 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 2) + 5 = 23 Fortitude save DC 18 or be Nauseated

Oret Stonechild |

What's the status on James? If he's still standing, Oret will continue to pummel him for another round. If not, Oret will take off after the dwarf with all due haste.

Morvius Zaan |

*looks sheepish* *hangs head* *stares at feet* mutters: "sorry, DM - won't happen again..."
Morvius will hold back on the bomb (delayed action) until Oret is clear of the blast radius.
He appears to be hesitant about following my suggestion - why did I never bother to learn people skills? Oh that's right: most of the 'people' I encountered were in chains... heh. Good times.
In the event that Oret decides not to pursue but to play pat-a-cake with James, Morvius will not throw the bomb.
Presumably this will waste his action for the turn

![]() |

Wether it is because Talon still hasn't got the hang of dealing with women or because Bianca retches again after the effects of the stink bomb - we shall never know why it happened. But after basking in the glorious kill of the band's leader, Rygat screams in frustration as Talon barely breaks Bianca's skin.
"NNNGGNGGGGAAGH!! THE HAND MUST LEARN TO HIT WOMEN!"

Talon Dalkar |

Talon opens his eyes in surprise, then recovers and tries to reason with Rygat. "I have no problem with killing her, but the dwarf is escaping and Oret can handle them!" In the heat of the moment Talon forgets to communicate mentally, not realizing that the others can probably hear him.
But he knows he's lying, he still has a small problem slaughtering women. He grits his teeth, trying to keep the magical blade under his control.

![]() |

At the last moment, Rygat steers Talon's hand sideways, pointing its point at Bianca's left pointy ear. A subtle crunch and a thud later, only Talon is left standing on that side of the battle.
James however is still standing. in other words, oret gets to hit him first.
After dragging sister Martha out of the cloud, James o'Toole quietly takes one casual step towards Oret and unexpectedly explodes in movement:
flurry - attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
flurry - attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
flurry - trip: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
using a seemingly well-rehearsed method, James smacks Oret in the face twice,
dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
which causes a slight imperfection in Oret's balance, used by James to shift Oret's weight and make him fall over! no tricks, just using improved trip as the third attack in the flurry
Behind James, the dretch grabs the unconscious Sister Martha by the leg, ready to start dragging her towards the Horn's cave mouth in a quite undignified manner.
Meanwhile, Talon flies into the jungle,
branches attack Talon's Fly check: 1d20 + 3d6 ⇒ (4) + (6, 5, 3) = 18
but he flies into a tree, losing a move action to get up/around the tree. The dwarf gains a lead.[/dice]
Bianca:39 + 13, nauseated, dead
Hallack:9+55
Nun:25 fire, 17 Nun-lethal (heh)
Talon 25
Oret 29
Summary: Sindran is summoning a creature, Morvius has a ready action to bomb James as soon as Oret is out of reach, Cala is free to act, Talon is chasing after the dwarf - but the dwarf is currently escaping.

Caladwhen |

As the fire she summoned explodes consuming Oret and Talon mistakenly along with the others, Caladwhen curses herself quietly "Fool! Watch what you're doing."
For her second action, I'll try to help and seal the fate of James with a Magic Missile... it's all I've got presently. Well, not true, can the Treant finish of James if that didn't do it? It hasn't actually done anything yet, and I'd hate to have blown the surprise for nothing.
Magic Missile: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 4) + 4 = 12
Ninja Edit: Actually, screw that... I just remembered I have Dimension Door. Can I leave James to the Treant and Oret, and port ahead of Yorgun and cast Slow on him next round IB? Caladwhen can move up to 680' in any direction. We need to catch that bugger.

Talon Dalkar |

Talon roars in fury as he loses ground, swerving around the tree. His mood isn't helped by Rygat's rebellion, but he knows there's a time and a place to handle such things. Instead of trying to fly through all the thick branches he tries to break through the canopy, intent on following the dwarf in the clear skies until there is an open bit of land.
Fly: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Oret Stonechild |

Oret lashes out from the ground with a powerful kick, then stands.
Standard action: Attack James, Punishing Kick
Attack (Unarmed Strike, Power Attack, Fighting Defensively, Haste, Prone): 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 - 4 = 22
Damage (Unarmed Strike, Power Attack): 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 4 = 15 and DC 17 Fort save or go prone himself
Swift action: Spend 1 ki for +4 Dodge AC. His AC is now 10 + 1 (Dex) + 4 (Wis) + 1 (Monk) + 1 (Natural) + 1 (Dodge) + 4 (Dodge from Fighting Defensively) + 4 (Dodge from Ki) +2 (Shield from Bastion Stance) = 28.
Move action: Stand (Provokes)

With Cala post, we're now in round 3. Sindran's kitty appears out of nowhere and I'll process the previous post now. Morvius, I'll assume you're still anxiously waving that bomb around, waiting for an opportunity unless you post. Oret and Talon have just posted their actions for round 3. Cala hasn't yet, but that's fine.
James was ready for Oret's counterattack, and takes it like a man. fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
attack of opportunity vs Oret: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Grinding his teeth, he uses the time Oret needs to get up, to half-heartedly get a punch in, and then get out.
"I regret leaving my companions behind - but not as much as I'd regret being dead."
withdrawing, double move, hasted, in the opposite direction of Yorgun. He also easily makes it past the forest edge.

![]() |

perception of escaping dwarf vs. Cala appearing out of nowhere, somewhere up and ahead: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
oooooh yeah... I think Yorgun has seen a little flash of light up ahead of him; he's clever enough to try and do something to avoid attention.
don't underestimate...
the cover provided by the canopy of an...
uncharted, wild jungle...
He has a serious bonus to his already decent stealth.
Talon - if you go easy, you can fly straight up without taking damage. You'll see Cala popping out of her dimension door somewhere ahead of you. How are you two going to find a sneaky dwarf hiding about 12 feet below within a few hundred feet radius? Also - Cala still has an action in round 3; Talon's next action will be round 4.

Morvius Zaan |

Morvius sighs
If you want something done properly, do it yourself...
Perception (Base, Core Skill): 1d20 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 3 = 16
Morvius grins as he sees that the human is running straight into the arms of the treant - one less thing for him to worry about. "Oret, he's all yours." A bit of misdirection never hurt anyone (enemies don't count as people).
Morvius is in search of his prey. The dwarf. The one whom he believes can work mithral. The one who will - somehow - be compelled to assist in restoring the golem. His golem. Let others seek out and charm minions using honeyed words; or raise them through dark magic (not that he has anything against the dark). Morvius prefers to construct his minions (or to get others to construct them for him, same difference).
Using his prehensile tail as a swift action, he retrieves an extract (Acute Senses) from his person and consumes it. His yellow eyes suddenly flare with an unholy light, before narrowing.
Morvius is hasted, too; he can also fly.
Searching... searching... (move action)
Perception (Base, Core Skill, Spell Bonus): 1d20 + 7 + 3 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 3 + 10 = 34 I'm assuming that's enough to spot the dwarf
Morvius considers. The dwarf is still out of reach and it will take time to catch up, by which time he may have hidden. Tanglefoot bag? No, risks becoming a cliche; bomb? No, need him alive; what then? ... Ah...
Morvius grins - again - as he retrieves a vial of marker dye and hurls it at the dwarf (standard action):
Thrown splash weapon (BAB, Dex Bonus, Throw Anything Bonus): 1d20 + 5 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 4 + 1 = 30 Damn! Another 20 when it doesn't crit! I am the Anti-Talon! - no offence
The dwarf is now covered in marker dye - a fluorescent, glowing pink.
I can't find a rule as to the exact penalty this would confer - IB, I leave it to your sense of narrative and evil creativity... I note that the Glitterdust spell gives a minus 40
Try hiding now, shr't'zz...
"My Lady Cala; Talon; I believe you will find it somewhat easier to apprehend yon escapee - please, bring it in alive. You will find that there are oh, so many ways in which you can meet that requirement yet still ... enjoy yourselves."
"Good hunting, my children!"
Morvius - still - has Charisma 6...

![]() |

The Cheetah looks up towards its master, bares its fangs, and bounces off into the forest, after the dwarf. Mere seconds later, Talon can hear the rustle below, and he spots the yellow monster sniffing for a second, then running ever forward, towards a point slightly east of Caladwhen.
Meanwhile...
Only Caladwhen is close enough to hear.
A female voice speaks gently. The beautiful voice suggests lush lands, calm meadows and beautiful bodies sharing careless frivolity.
"There. Now run, child. Do not look back. We will deal with your problem."
if you manage a spellcraft DC18 check I'll let you know what is happening.
Seconds later, Caladwhen hears a threatening, snarling sound which indicates that the cheetah has found its foe.
The leaves rustle. The cheetah pounces - someone screams. Then... nothing.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

![]() |

Morivus - I'm going to take away your natural 20. You're 100ft away, no way of knowing where the heck the dwarf went; there is just no way you can hit the dwarf, there's too much jungle to shoot at anything farther than 50 ft away.
The good news is - I'll give you your turn back. I guess you'd want to use it to move and then dump your payload on whatever is causing the ruckus up there in the trees, suddenly it all makes sense - but, you're free to do something else entirely.
summary of this round:
Sindran finished summoning the cheetah, (I believe you can do something yourself as well)?
Oret is fighting James;
Talon + Cala + Cheetah are doing their best to locate the fleeing dwarf;
Morvius still has a turn.
Let's move on to the next round!
edit: Talon is already in the next round :) good stuff.

Morvius Zaan |

OK DM, but you owe me a natural 20 ;)
Morvius will move (flying, hasted) toward the scream and delay his action to see what is going on.
Perception, base, core skill, spell bonus: 1d20 + 7 + 3 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 3 + 10 = 37

![]() |

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
A frikkin' barrage of arrows?! Ouch - one of them (the last) even hits!
While Talon recovers from the nasty surprise, he realizes he's not alone. All around him, in an expanding circle around him, trees rustle and shake slightly.
You catch a glimpse of a fey creature carrying a small bow, who is very efficiently using the surrounding vines and branches of the jungle to move away quickly. The creature's small stature and its perfectly camouflaged clothing promise another difficult chase...
Then, the trees ahead part, and this creature appears...
"Stop!"
The snake-like druid raises a hand, and swiftly envelopes Talon in a purple cloud.
Please roll a Will save, DC16

Talon Dalkar |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Fly DC 10 to maintain altitude: 1d20 + 11 - 3 ⇒ (2) + 11 - 3 = 10
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Talon swears, breaking off the shaft in his shoulder. "Normally you say stop before you attack. I have no quarrel with you, lower your weapons and I won't kill you all."
HP 27/52, this is getting dangerous.
Edit: I still have my buffs on. Shield and mirror image last 7 minutes, haste lasts 7 rounds. I'm losing track on the exact rounds so haste may or may not still be active, but I'm sure my AC is currently 24 and I have mirror images.

Sindran Eithe |

Information sharing is a butt here. I can't really do much at my distance so I'm depending on my summons to relay anything that's going on and act accordingly. For my last round, I'll start summoning Small Air Elementals since I assume we're still looking for the dwarf. They'll spread out to cover ground.
Sindran repeats the process again from his nice, safe position near the base of the Horn.
Summons 1d3 ⇒ 2 small air elementals at the start of my next turn. Not sure what's happening with James, who's running from Oret and whether or not I can even see what's going on there.

Oret Stonechild |

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Oret runs after James, in case Woody is unable to bring him down.
I'm hoping that Oret's 140' double move is enough to keep up, at least.

![]() |

Morvius, you can see what Talon can see.
The creature has the body of a seductive, winged elven woman from the waist up and that of a snake from the waist down.
Sindran, the elementals snarl at your for snatching them away from their home plane, but they quickly realize they need to obey your command, and they storm off to search for the escapee.
Oret, you can easily keep up and herd the fist fighter right into the Treant's long arms. It reaches down, and casually grabs him.
grapple James: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (8) + 24 = 32
James is held down on ground level.

![]() |

"I have no quarrel with you, lower your weapons and I won't kill you all."
In a dozen or so places around you, small voices giggle at your audacity.
Even the snake-thing smiles. She speaks sincerely, not threatening."That was cute, Strix. But, please don't do that again. The forest has had its eyes on you since you arrived; I must warn you, your arrogance is somewhat misplaced. Instead, since we both know we can cause eachother considerable discomfort, perhaps we should discuss our options? Would you be willing to consider an agreement? a ...pact of sorts?"
Oh - and did I mention she has a large spotted cat following her around, purring like a kitten? Sindran, this will probably sting your pride a bit - but your cheetah was charmed. Yeah. Normally I'd say sorry, but that would be lying.

Oret Stonechild |

Once James is stopped by Woody, Oret finishes the job.
Attack (Unarmed Strike, Power Attack, Fighting Defensively, Haste): 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 10 - 2 - 1 + 1 = 20
