Can I just say...I think it's cute how a bunch of death row villains are standing on a doorstep, looking thoughtfully at a few stacks of dead wood :p :p :p
It's a dramatic moment where the villains are reminded of their own mortality and the ponder on the fact that they too may one day be lying inside a small wooden box--or perhaps not even that!

My apologies, but I won't be able to do any maps. I have an exam tomorrow for a course I'm taking that I thought was next week... needless to say, I'm doing some major league cramming (which I'm too old to be doing)

I'd like you all to pick a maximum of 5 your character might benefit from and PM me those 5. You may assume the prerequisite of having a party member with the same feat is met.
There's no rush - two weeks from now would still be a great time.

![]() |

Also, got my internet back up! \o/ Yay for stable connection.
Cardinal Thorn intends to keep up his end of the bargain, so he sent a Contract Devil and a couple of Nightmares over to your ISP. To their credit, it took them over 2 hours before signing our appendix to your contract. Oh - and if you're wondering why your connection is suddenly so fast - there's now an imprisoned pit fiend in their switches, fixing your internetz.
Ahem. Welcome back! :D

so cool that you're peeking in on the games :) that only happens with paizo.

I've got a lot of typing and explaining to do - but not now :)
here's just a few quick things on my list;
those of you who haven't looked at the teamwork feats, please take a moment to do so. just pick your top 3 or 5.
Oret shall be joining us, to beat up the good guys. since you'll all be training together for a month, you'll all get to know eachother rather quickly.
He'll be an appendix to your existing Contract of Thorns, but more on that will follow later.
for now:good night :)

Hit Points: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Nice!
By the way IB, do Talon and Cala still have access to the Warden's spellbook? I'd like to scribe his 2nd level spells, which included the following:
bull’s strength, flaming sphere, hideous laughter, invisibility
Just gives Cala a few more spell options. I picked Blindness/Deafness, Spectral Hand and Web for my freebies.

Caladwhen |

By the way, a few teamwork feats I like:
Allied Caster (for the wizard of course)
Outflank (damn nice for sneak attackin' Arryn)
Seize the moment
Shake it off... because Cala's saving throws are craptastic.

Sindran Eithe |

Excellent posts, IB. Hehe. Seamen.
If no one can/will use the mwk Full Plate, might I recommend selling it? Along with whatever we won't use. Aerent would probably benefit the most from the Sarenrae holy symbol, but anyone else who can find a use for it should take it. I can get it if Aerent refuses; might aid me in a Diplomacy or Intimidation check.
GM, do we have enough downtime in the month for me to take 20 on a Craft (Pyrography) check? Want to alter the brand put on Sindran. Possibly into some sort of Orcish symbol representing the Flame God.
Additionally, what energy types are associated with Hell? Can't seem to find any clear answers, but devils have immunity to fire and poison with acid and cold resistance. Need it for my 3rd level Planar Oracle revelation which demands resistance to an energy type associated with my chosen outer plane. Sadly, poison isn't an energy type.
And nice to meet you, Oret! Hope we have fun. *grins*

You can cut yourself up as much as you like, but the scars will remain. And the cardinal wonders why you are actively wasting training time to heal, when you have the iron circlets to change your appearance at will. But it's a cool thought; can you find an example of the new art anywhere online? The paizo Community use package for instance? It's be so cool if your tattoo would represent a known pit fiend.
Tiadora can teach sindran how to handle Hellfire instead of normal fire.
Re: spellbooks, you have the cardinal's library to browse at your leisure. Everything you mentioned so far is available, and much more.
No more posts from me tonight, I've had a very bad day.
Talon, is dual wielding something for you?
Nn.

![]() |

I'd like Talon to have the Masterwork Longsword you won off the good Sir Balin - remember he is a Bladebound Magus :) Also, I'm proceeding as if the other items have already been divided between yourselves, and as if the Teamwork feat has been granted; wouldn't want to let the story wait for a mechanical choice - Especially since most of it is a montage :)
take a look at the map of Andoran; the journey starts at the mansion, near Veryston; down the river (Varnyn river) and on to open sea.
For most of tonight I'll be afk - the missus has surprised me with a dinner date :)
Perhaps you can make use of this narrative time, to make sure the items are divided between yourselves or sold (and replaced?) so we can leave that chapter behind?

How many spells could Cala have learned before departure IB?
By the way, finally have a name for the familiar:
T'larryo Aiwe (Teh-lar-re-oh) - which translates to "broken bird" in elven, as in Cala found him with a broken wing... Lars for short.

![]() |

How many spells could Cala have learned before departure IB?
a month's time, and then another week already spent on the ship - I'd say that's plenty of time for figuring out 4d20 ⇒ (8, 5, 17, 4) = 34 spells.
a name for the familiar:
neat! done!

![]() |

ooh! ooh! more decisions as we wait for the missus to get ready for dinner ;)
whatever happened to poor Timeon? did he get fed to the Draugr while you weren't paying attention, or did he get whipped into something more useful by Tiadora - useful enough to bring him along? He does not have an iron circlet, like you all do (Oret as well!).
And did you leave GrumbleJack behind as well? He is kinda hard to hide on a flat, open ship.
NN

Caladwhen |

Yeah, I think Timeon is more of a liability than of any use anyway. As for Grumble Jack, I would tend to agree with Talon... since ol' Jack took a liking to Sindran, he should decide the fate of the Ogre.
Is Jack an Ogre by the way? I was never clear on that.

Caladwhen wrote:How many spells could Cala have learned before departure IB?a month's time, and then another week already spent on the ship - I'd say that's plenty of time for figuring out 4d20 spells.
Alright then, got some spells to pick. I'll give you a list in addition to few I've already discussed with you

![]() |

Neither was I, so don't beat yourself up.
also - loot. We shouldn't continue until you decide who gets what.
- Cala asked for the cloak and no-one told her otherwise, so grats Cala :)
- IMHO Talon should get the sword;
- I think Aerent would look awesome in the plate + shield, after Sindran has burned some nice pentagrams all over the fugly Sarenraen icons - but does Aerent feel the same?
- the potion - Sindran?
- the dagger - Arryn?
- nothing - Oret (sorry, you weren't there yet)
right, not entirely fair, but there's more to come. Let yourself be heard if you disagree with your share, ok?

Sindran Eithe |

I'm good with the potion. *nods* Who's carrying the clay seal Cardinal Thorn gave us by the way?
Can you find an example of the new art anywhere online? The paizo Community use package for instance? It's be so cool if your tattoo would represent a known pit fiend.
Good call on the Community Use Package. Had trouble finding what I wanted.
I'll be having the Unholy Symbol of Moloch, Lord of the Sixth, General of Hell, the Ashen Bull and God of Fires. Still worshipping Asmodeus, but venerating multiple deities is just part of bein' an Oracle.
Tiadora can teach sindran how to handle Hellfire instead of normal fire.
Ooh, that sounds intriguing.
Timeon being given to Tiadora is fine with me. As for Grumblejack, while Sindran would love more muscle coming along, the idea of sharing close quarters with him for an extended period of time is less than appealing. I'm voting a no on Grumblejack coming along. Though perhaps next time in a less subtle mission in open air.
And sweet, lots of posts. =] Very awesome.
Also, level 3 Ding!
HP: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Okay, that's just seriously awful.
Favored Class Bonus: HP

Gain 1st Level Spell: Sanctuary
Skill Ranks: 7

Greetings from vacation. Unfortunately, I have little time to post from here, but I wanted to chime in. :)
Aerent would take the full plate and shield. He would not take the holy symbol.
Sorry, but have not yet had time to review teamwork feats. I'm fine if one is selected before I can look at them.
Please continue to bot him as necessary. Thanks!

Oh, look, an HP roll! How grand that I've conveniently forgotten about any roll that I may or may not have made so I suppose I'll just use that one instead.
(Thanks!)

![]() |

I still owe you a teamwork feat.
Here's what I think works:
Oret + Arryn + Aerent get the Outflank feat.
Cala + Talon + Sindran get the Allied Spellcaster feat.
These feats provide a fun bonus from actively working together, and they make sense from a being-trained-as-a-team standpoint.
These feats are free - you may need to cheat your application into allowing you one feat too many :)

Caladwhen |

Sweet...
As to the game, I think I'll try and use Charm Person on the Captain before things heat up to the point of combat. We need to kill this guy, but I'd prefer to do that after we reach our destination. Any objections?

Oret Stonechild |

None from me...it'll work or it won't, and if it doesn't, I don't know that we'll be worse off than before, with the way things are going.

Sindran Eithe |

Hope your game goes/is going well!
Also, anybody have any ideas on what to do? And is it fine if I act in charge?
My idea was to act as if we're soldiers from the Andoran army sent to deliver a shipment of weapons to the Watch Wall.
I can try to prepare documentation but I probably lack the proper kind of paper. *grumbles about having prepared to forge documents and then forgetting to get paper with which to forge with*
And great idea, Talon, to meet him in private. Except there's really, uhh, nowhere private to meet on Kargeld's ship. Perhaps I can board their ship instead. And then set it on fire.
He'll probably leave some of his crew on the ship and you can ambush them. Some of them will probably be preoccupied in putting out the fire. Though this plan involves me being stranded on his ship, I can probably hope for the best or distract them long enough for you to rescue me. Sindran is ridiculously reckless and overconfident.
We can either try to bluff our way out of it or surprise attack them. But they look tough. And we'll have to make sure that none of them can warn the Watch Wall, which means making sure everyone's dead or fully believing us so I'm up for any ideas.
Also, what material is their ship made of and what is the means of propulsion? Does it have an engine? Run on steam or just sails? Have cannons and presumably gunpowder?

![]() |

It's a Very Modern Steam-Powered Super-Fast Ship - the pride of the navy, truthfully the fastest ship in these waters if not all of Golarion, but simply put it's just wood with a far too powerful steam engine in it. Half the boat would consist of the huge metal kettle, furnace, water reservoir, and some drive belts connected to the side paddle wheels.
Something like this except with a lot less flags and ...patients, and a lot more horsepower and soldiers.
cannons, mmmh not really. Those are heavy and tend to reduce speed by quite a bit. This crew's very succesful tactic is to simply outrun anything that's trying to get away, and then arrest it and score yet another Victory for the Republic of Andoran.
Sickening, really. It should go.
Direct combat would result in a lot of blood and could kill a lot of the Frosthamar's sailors, which would require you to work on the ship for most of the rest of the trip. So, that would not be desirable.
