Sorry, I had to fly all day yesterday thanks to US Airways, and doing Nike/Tychi's posts takes a bit. I've been buried in work today, so will try to get a post up at the hotel in an hour or two.

Tychi |

Making a posting in all games I'm running and playing in.
For those who have noticed that the last 3-4 weeks I've been spotty and somewhat irritable, I apologize. There's a lot of work things going on, and also some RL things going on. As of this morning, the surgeons confirmed my wife needs a fairly serious operation, which is now scheduled for the end of the month.
I will continue to be here, but, especially toward the end of May, I'm likely to be very very spotty and cranky. Sorry in advance. Please bear with me.
If things get to the point where I need to place things on hold, I'll let you know, but I don't think it'll get there (assuming nothing bad happens).

GM Zed |

Note that from this evening through until the end of the week, I am taking a family holiday – there is, by all accounts, internet access in the apartment that we are staying in however I am not 100% certain that I will be able to manage daily posting whilst we are away (we shall see but don’t be surprised / alarmed if I make less frequent posts).

Tychi |

Post in all games :
Wife's surgery got moved back a day (scheduling issues in OR). Surgery was completed last night, went smoothly, doctor very pleased with himself. :) Wife awake and says even with the pain from the surgery it's a night and day difference in how she felt before, so good news on that front. I'm afraid I'll be busy again today, but hopefully will be able to get all games caught up and going again by end of week.

Figwidget |

I'm going to be away at PaizoCon from tomorrow early (Thursday May 21) through next Tuesday (May 26). I will almost certainly not be able to post during that time.
(If anybody else is at PaizoCon, look me up and say "hi". I'm Rob Knop. Will be a Tier 1 GM, so I'll be in the PFS room a whole lot. I'm also running The Wardstone Patrol at 2PM on Thursday, and there are still some open seats, if anybody is going to be there a day early.)

Tychi |

While waiting for the map update, question.
Should Tychi continue sneaking past the gnolls and ratfolk to see what is beyond them? While the invis lasts?

Lector Enteap |

Ah, I see where the confusion is.
Move action into the room, then waiting until Casey and Fidwidget move further into the room (specifically within 30 ft. of Tychi) and casting fickle winds on the entire party.
When I cast the spell, Tychi/Nike were still on the eastern side of the magically conjured wall and were within 30 ft. of Lector. They were within the center of the conveyer belt just to the east of the wall, and Lector's position on the map now is the same as when he cast the spell.

GM Zed |

Okay sounds good... What about line of sight / line of effect? What's people's view on whether you can cast through a solid wall? I think it stops the effect but I am happy to go with whatever people's experience / opinions are...
...have already got a post together for the effect of the fickle winds (sneak preview, good news for Nike)

Lector Enteap |

Ohhh, I thought that was a low wall he was flying over. Yes, unfortunately Lector does not have any abilities that allow him to cast without line of sight.
You must have a clear line of effect to any target that you cast a spell on or to any space in which you wish to create an effect. You must have a clear line of effect to the point of origin of any spell you cast.
So yes, if Lector did not have line of sight than Tychi/Nike do not have the benefits of fickle winds. Sorry!

Tychi |

If the wall was only 10 ft tall, and Nike was standing on a 3 foot platform, Lector had line of sight as the two are both over 7 ft tall when mounted (Nike's basically built like a clydesdale, which is about 18 hands tall). WHich puts her back where Tychi is sitting, at 6 ft. Her head and neck then extend up another couple of feet or so.

Tychi |

Also, the spellcaster needs to get through Tychi's spell resistance to affect him, before the saves are made. Same with Nike (she benefits from the Diamond Soul as long as they are adjacent).

Tychi |

Which way did we want to go? I think the GM is waiting on us, and I didn't hear a vote so far...

GM Zed |

Work travel turned out to be horrendous - precious little internet access and stuck in France for nearly two extra days due to strikes affecting my Eurostar trip - plane back to the UK this evening... Time to catch up with family and sleep and I will get back to normal posting some time tomorrow!!! Thanks everyone for your patience...

GM Zed |

And, just because it's worth spreading the word, has anyone seen this Kickstarter, The Legendary Planet Adventure Path, I've pledged for it as it looks like a bag of fun and it has some great authors!!! I've also taken the opportunity to get the Mythic Books they produced... My poor bank account!!!

Relevant rules for holding breath and inhaled poison...
Poisons
A poison is a substance that interferes with the natural functions of a living creature's body, causing injury or death, typically requiring only a very small amount. The target of a poison may resist with a successful saving throw. Poisons can be delayed or cured with spells such as delay poison and neutralize poison. Poisons have four categories, based on how they reach the target: contact, ingested, inhaled, or injury.Contact: These poisons are delivered the moment a creature touches the poison with its bare skin. Such poisons can be used as injury poisons. Contact poisons usually have an onset time of 1 minute and a frequency of 1 minute.
Ingested: These poisons are delivered when a creature eats or drinks the poison. Ingested poisons usually have an onset time of 10 minutes and a frequency of 1 minute.
Inhaled: These poisons are delivered the moment a creature enters an area containing such poisons and do not usually have an onset time. For most inhaled poisons, 1 dose fills a volume equal to a 10-foot cube. A creature can attempt to hold its breath while inside the area to avoid inhaling the toxin. A creature holding its breath receives a 50% chance of not having to make a Fortitude save each round. See the rules for holding your breath and suffocation. If a creature is holding its breath and fails the constitution check to continue doing so, rather than suffocating it begins to breathe normally again (and is subject to the effects of the inhaled poison if still in the area).
Suffocation
A character who has no air to breathe can hold her breath for 2 rounds per point of Constitution. If a character takes a standard or full-round action, the remaining duration that the character can hold her breath is reduced by 1 round. After this period of time, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check in order to continue holding her breath. The check must be repeated each round, with the DC increasing by +1 for each previous success. When the character fails one of these Constitution checks, she begins to suffocate. In the first round, she falls unconscious (0 hit points). In the following round, she drops to –1 hit points and is dying. In the third round, she suffocates.
So, first round DC 10 to hold breath, second round DC 11, etc.
So, as I read it, it would work like this :
Round 1 : 50/50 chance to need a con check. If need one, DC 10.
Round 2 : 50/50 chance to need a con check. If need one, DC 10 + 1 per previous roll.
Etc..
Maximum number of rounds holding breath would be CON rounds (2 x Con, -1 per standard or full action).

Lector Enteap |

We were aware of the malicious gas before entering the area, correct? If it came out of nowhere and we were surprised that's one thing, but if we were aware of the threat and decided to walk into it, it's reasonable to say we can hold our breath. I didn't mention it so I'll bite the bullet this round, but for future rounds I'll do that if possible.

Nike |

Well, Nike/Tychi already made their saves for the first round, I'm asking about subsequent rounds, after they are aware of it.

GM Zed |

The Fumes only affect Breathing Creatures so holding your breath will allow you to avoid the effects – given that Tychi / Nike were aware of the fumes (having saved in the first round) I have no problem with them holding breath and no further need for FORT Saves. For Figwidget, Lector and Casey Jayne, this is the first time that they were aware of fumes so will be nauseated this turn and can then hold breath from next turn onwards (no further FORT saves needed).
Holding Breath / Fort Save requirements as described by Tychi in previous post…

GM Zed |

For info, the Kickstarter that I previously told you folks about – the Legendary Planet Adventure Path – funded last night with a full seven adventure (with prelude) romp across the multiverse. At some point soon backers will receive the Player’s Guide and the prelude Adventure (with the following adventures coming approximately bimonthly after that) – I fully intend to run the AP on these boards and so, after spending a little time reading and reviewing the prelude, I shall launch a recruitment thread. I will be sure to post here to let you know when I have set up recruitment.

Javell DeLeon |

My assumption would be that Casey blew all four of it's arms off with the first two shots, and then blew it's head off with the third shot.
Wow. Good-freaking-bye.
LOL!!! Oh man I just died on these! You people are killing me over here!

GM Zed |

Folks,
I am away on holiday for a week as of tomorrow and, right now, I have no idea as to whether there will be any internet access at the cottage we are staying at – therefore, it is quite likely that there will be no GM posts through until about the 24th August. However, if there is access, I will move us into what is effectively the final battle of the module.
Cheers,
GM Zed

GM Zed |

Shameless Advert for replacements in either of the two ongoing Emerald Spire games that I am running – both games have been running for a little over a year and we are up to 5th level Characters on the 6th (of 16) levels in the Superdungeon…
If anyone fancied proposing a character (I am recruiting over the next week and a half), the thread with all of the character creation rules plus links to the games is Here.

Tychi |

Sorry, I'm buried at work this week. Bot me as necessary. I'm fine with eavesdropping, no reason not to learn all we can.

Figwidget |

OK, one of the disadvantages of the PbP format is that you forget things that happened a long time ago, that would only have been a session or two in person.
As I remember, the clockwork spies were being sent around by... I don't remember the name of the person, or the race, but I do remember that it was a person that was a tinkerer who didn't seem very harmful, and whom we were actually reasonably friendly with. I fear I'm forgetting the other details.
