I was thinking I did got everything actualized properly but apparently I failed in some things still will go over them.
Edit: CHanged them to just make a switch for another item of equal value between the target or himself. At least you can always cast a important spell if you have another thing of equal value ^^.
Deiros |
Vance I will say this you will gain a "negative trait" it is called Driven! You will do many things to achieve you vengeance, ignore protocol or other such example, you are thinking that the end justifies the means to achieve your goal. This does not mean you don't care about things but everytime there is a chance to get you close to your objective it is very hard to control yourself to do so.
You gain a +1 bonus to any rolls to resist any attempts of someone trying to dissuade you from your vengeance
You gain a -1 penalty to any rolls when you have to persuade yourself to not take advantage of a situation that will achieve your goal.
So basically you are harder to intimidate out of a way, resist mind effects and anything that might deter you from your vengeance (this includes combat), but you are also prone to be manipulated if someone notices you are driven person and use it against you, be it by a mind effect or simple manipulations.
Alaire |
Sorry, things have been hectic here. Shiftwork has been kicking my butt sleepwise.
As for leadership, yeah, it is on the feat list eventually though most are called for at least until level 5 or so. I can't recall exactly which but he has most of his feats until then spent trying to qualify for Holy Knight. TBH not even sure what sort of cohort he would take. Maybe another priest or healer to help out on that front.
Also, to be fair, I'm less worried about outfitting cohorts when we ourselves haven't even found a suit of full plate. :P If Alaire is going to tank, he's going to need it eventually, not that we have really had the chance to go shopping what with every settlement we've found being under attack heh.
Alaire |
Long ways off but I'm thinking (depending on campaign, story, etc) Alaire might aim for Holy Vindicator after Holy Knight. Fits the idea/character I imagined for him though he loses a bit of casting power for more melee presence. Even right now he is realizing his place isn't so much as someone trying to heal the fallen, but keep people from dying in the first place. The shift could be awkward at first, though if can cover our butts with a healer from the leadership feat that might work quite well.
Also a note for myself to add quicken spell to the feat list. Being able to pop off a buff or two without completely wasting a round could be invaluable.
Alaire |
Errr...which corpse is Vance lighting up? If you meant Jager, Alaire might have issues with this (seeing as we did just discuss the whole blessing of the body and the fact he used one of his few 2nd level spells on him). Wanted to confirm before I made a post on it (also because I've been busy at work and just got home to see all these).
Vance Lodune |
It was the red knight. I think that was jager (or something that looks like him).
Akela mentioned burning it, so vance burned it. Between that and your spell, he shouldn't be getting up agains short of True Res.
If you want to bring it up in game, go ahead. Should make for a fun character moment.
Lindynt Auroral |
I'm still around.
I'm a bit shocked by the scale and amount of battles we've been through since we've started but I'm not complaining about it. Just happy that I chose a martial class with a good Charisma to carry through the social RP scenes we will be working with soon enough.
I'm glad that my character doesn't need rest to recharge spells. I feel bad for the 3/5 of that party that needs to preserve all their spells for an entire day. Especially seeing as our days have all been pretty long.
I'm regaining my interest in this tread as the posts start to pour in. I know that you went through a rough patch a little while ago and I wasn't sure if I should have kept my investment or not but I'm glad I did. You've made it clear that we're coming across the last battle soon so I'm excited to have a chance to actually interact with the rest of the party out of battle and buy some new wares (assuming we get paid). Posting daily is not as easy as it seems. I find it's actually easier to post from work than it is at home with my overwhelmingly energetic 2-year old son running circles of destruction around the house while I'm typing and trying to think of convincing dialogue. I appreciate you trying to increase your time with the game; it certainly makes me, as a player, more inspired to do the same.
Me'mori |
You know I'm in.. I don't make characters for the short term. I'm just debating on which way to tune Nichelle's class. Following Alaire, she's inclined to play up the "i'm a woman" angle, to make it easier for her to be underestimated, but that may hinder somewhat in the battles. However, I'll tweak her as necessary in response to the things that go on.
Akela the Wolf |
Lyndynt is right. Being hit with both long days and social challenges is tough. But Akela was built for combat, so its not so bad. Id feel bad if we had a pure wizard in the group, but even Vance has staying power as a gun-mage.
Congratulations, Deiros. We have Caster/Martial Parity, and Martial/Social parity.
Some time to start planning instead of reacting will be nice.
Vance Lodune |
I'm here and having a great time. I'm really glad I went the gun-mage route because if I were a normal mage I'd be down to throwing rocks and harsh language.
I can see I'm going to have to start investing heavily in alchemical backup to supplement my meager spells-per-day.
Alaire |
Around off and on. Mostly due to work which has been extremely busy this week between my shifts and several meetings. Also due to the fact I have my own prepwork for my own campaign that is kicking off again in another week or two. Makes for not a ton of free time.
As for the character, the short times I've had to post in the last while I haven't been able to decide what to post. Things flew by way too fast it felt like for me. Also the issue that Vance blew up the corpse a friend and companion Alaire had been traveling with for some time and spent the time trying to bless to avoid defiling him further. I'm uncertain how he should react to that as on one hand, it's basically a desecration of the body and slapping all of Alaire's beliefs and faith right in the face (worshipper of Adest, remember). On the other, I freaking -hate- interparty conflict and really don't have the time or desire to deal with it. From what I've seen of Vance (from an IC point of view) I doubt he would react well or possibly even care either.
As said, adding onto the fact a bunch of posts flew up before he had any chance to intervene or react put a bit of a damper on my posting too. I can also say quite honestly one post a day is pretty much impossible for me right now due to real life obligations and work. Sorry. I've been wrestling with the idea of stepping out since I've not been very active and Alaire hasn't been overly helpful compared to the other characters.
It has been fun, though, and I do want to thank Deiros for letting me take part as long as I have whether I stay or leave. Thanks for listening.
Vance Lodune |
To be fair, I didn't blow him up. Black powder doesn't work that way. I just lit him on fire.
To me he wasn't anyone important. He was a guy who was siding with usurpers and diabolists, and had apparently died once before and was probably demon-possessed. Akela recommended fire, and Vance acted. I'm sorry things moved too quickly for you to respond the way you would have liked.
Vance is an angry guy, but he's not without compassion (He didn't kill the downed kobold, for example)
If you brought it up, he'd listen.
Lindynt Auroral |
I've always found inner-party conflict to be one of the strongest areas for RP so long as it's between good players and doesn't turn malicious.
The thing I've noticed in most PbP games I've played is that if you ask to retcon a conversation or event that you were unable to post on (within reason), most DM's and players won't be offended by it. So far our PC's have had one campfire together and the rest has been shouts over battle clashes and quick strategy meeting under fire. We kinda need to have these moral arguments to flesh out our personalities beyond whats been established. Just my opinion at least.
I'm looking forward to political problems and the full scale battle stuff you've mentioned for the future. Lindynt is geared towards political leadership to the very core of the character so it's exciting to have that sort of future in the cards.
Me'mori |
It depends on what strikes me.. Given the situation, it would not be too out of place to have a knight join them.. The taint in the area might allow an inquisitor come to investigate, albeit a little late..
On the other side of the spectrum we have the Beastmen. A kobold is an obvious choice.. Dragon Disciple-- too pat. As none of the others races are authorized, having a kobold rogue would be easy, but not as much appeal.
I'll have to wait and see.. There are possibilities. *grin*
Alaire |
You might want to check with Deiros, but I remember him saying these kobolds are like yappy mammal dogs, not the awesome draconic reptile sorts we all love.
Anyway, Deiros feel free to DM Alaire at your leisure. I hate to say it but I'm working 6 day work weeks (likely for awhile) and I have work in about about 10 minutes of this post even. It's been hectic suffice to say. Wanted to thank you one last time for a great campaign and the awesome write-ups you did that inspired me getting involved in the first place. Will still be using portions of it in my own campaign so it'll definitely live on!
Finally, sorry guys. Afraid I just can't be around like I was and I'll have to take my leave after all. Had fun and hope you all enjoy yourselves. Maybe see you around the boards now and then though! Best wishes to all of you.
Lindynt Auroral |
Still kicking. I apologize if it appears that I'm being that overposting spotlight diva bastard for the past week, I'm just eager to get things moving. I feel we deserve a little R&R when all this is said and done so we should get in there and kick some crimson a$$.
But if we have to fight Jager one more time I swear I'm gonna have to drive that glaive down his throat. And that's gonna be pretty tough considering I'm unmounted and he's at least 4-5 levels higher than me since you said he's taken the Dragoon prc.
Deiros |
Well I'm very happy to know you are all still here as you are about to reach a milestone to end the first part of this campaign ^^
I do not mind 2 more players preferably a divine caster of sorts if you can find one or I might just open a re-recruitment thread.
Gear up for the final fight of this chapter ^^ it's gonna be tough one for sure.
