Pinky |
Meredian and pinky are (apparently) left in the room with the quasit corpse. Mer looks in derision at the back of the captain. Then to Pinky raiseing an eyerow in a look of annoyance at the captain.
"Well, as we have nothing better to do I wonder if the corpse is worth anything."
Mer wraps the corpse in the bedsheet and puts it in a bag of holding. He then heads out fo browse the marketplace.
Pinky takes his customary spot on Mer's shoulder and enjoys the bright clear day.

After a little while longer they finally make it to Besmara's House,a large converted werehouse. Looking around an unusually great number of pirates seem to be in the area. More then a few entering or leaving the temple of the pirate queen. Beside the front door is a board with a number of post, mostly pirate ships and their location for hire. Adin keeps on his toes and signals the other two to do the same.
Let me know if I should keep going or you can take it from here.
Voice of Awesomeness |
Adin, I'm cool with you continuing for now, this is your deal, so your good for now
As Mer and Pinky wander the marketplace, Pinky is able to find plenty of delicious fruits of a wide variety. The prices are pretty decent, and a few vendors even offer a free snack. After about ten minutes of browsing, the two of you find a magickal alchemy shop that seems like a perfect place to sell the quasit corpse.
Meredian Adriatnaic |
Mer enters the shop and proceeds to speak to the shopkeep.
"Good (evening/afternoon). I have an interesting taxidermy or direction subject for sale. Would this be the right place for such a thing?"
Mer looks around the room to get a better feel of the place and as always looking for trouble.

Adin makes his way inside the so called church, pirates were not known for their religion after all. He notices the priest captains of the temple eyeing those who dont give a good offering or are just looking the temple over. He knew those people would be worked on in one way or another, he spied those had the way of it. A quick prayer and heavy hand with the coin granted you a nod and nothing more. He turns to the two that came with him, whispering to them quickly.
"Mind lighting a stick of incense, you dont need to pray but best leave at least ten gold. Don't flash any plat though."
He takes a stick of incense and lights it, placing it on one of the holders. He nods towards the alter then drops a big handful of gold into the offering bowl. He kept a few choice thoughts in check, wasn't going to tempt the goddess in her own house and all that.
Adin offered 60 gp

Once the ritual is done, he makes his way outside and back towards the direction of the inn. Adin takes out twenty gold giving it over to the two men.
"I dont like being indebted. Well while we're out and about got anything to do or just back to the inn?"
Adin wondered if luck had held out after all.
Meredian Adriatnaic |
A man comes from the back, covered in tattoos, and with a full silver beard. He definitely gives off the apperance of being the right person to speak to. "Afternoon lads, what kin I do ya for??" He says dusting off some powder on his apron.
Didn't realize it was for me or I would have responded earlier. lol.
"I have a rare carcase to sell. An outsider known as a quasit. The creature made the mistake of attacking me earlier today and I had to put it down. I though it would dissipate into the ether like such creatures normally do, but it did not. Understanding what a rare find this was I thought perhaps someone would be interested in it. Are you familiar with what I'm talking about and are you interested in such a thing?"

The shopkeep laughs at your bravado "Impressive as that is, yer in the wrong shop for that kind o yappin to be effective. See that head over there? Killed me that one back bout three months ago. Little sucker got let loose up in the mountains where I was diggin around in some forgotten ruin, and I had to put it down. Same thing happened to me too, thought it woulda disappeared like they usually do, but this time it left behind a corpse." He points to the head of a massive toadlike creature that you recognize as a Hezrou mounted on the wall, that oddly you didn't notice before. "Now, i'm always lookin for new oddities, or bodies to use for spellwork, so ya come to the right place. I don't pay with money however, instead allowing you to choose one item from my shop as payment. If that's fair with you, than we can do business. Otherwise, you might as well throw that corpse into the ocean, as no other shop on the island will buy it from ya."
Voice of Awesomeness |
"Ye kin pick any item o catches yer fancy." He says in response to your first question.
In answer to your second "Yea, I did, terrible trouble that. I have a feeling you two know more about it than I do though"
You wander around the shop, picking up this or that object and investigating each in turn. Many have magical auras, of all schools and strengths.(no artifacts though of course). Finally, after much perusal, you find a statue of a wizard that seems to draw your attention to it. You check out several other pieces, but you keep going back to that statue.
The statue does radiate magic, though strangely, no school is apparent.
Meredian Adriatnaic |
"It's theoretically possible we were present at the time, but I was more curious as to what 'the word on the street' is, so to speak." Mer say's as he absently browses the merchants wares
Mer inspects the statue closely to determine it's abilities

The shopkeeper, once a deal is settled upon, ducks into the back room again, though he continues to talk to you. "Listen, kid, you seem ok to me, but that pompous attitude won't get you far. The 'word on the street' is you and your pesduodragon along with your buddies, brought some of the most serious trouble this island has seen in several centuries." He pokes his head out to check on your progress, and notices you checking out the statue. "Ah, I've seen you've found 'the ex wife' statue. I call it that cuz the damn thing has given more trouble than some of me ex wives. I kin not for the life of me figure out what it does. Seems to be one o the stronger items i've ever run across, which is sayin sumthin, cuz I've seen some pretty powerful stuff in my day. Almost like the damnable thing purposefully avoids my attempts to learn what it does. If you take that off my hands, I'll break my rule, and I'll toss ya five thousand gold, plus a writ that allow your tiny friend access to an all you can eat fruit buffet"
Your not sure exactly what the statue does, as when you get close to figuring it out, the answers slip away from you. Yet, you get the strange sense that if you were being more honest in your attempt, you could figure it out.
Meredian Adriatnaic |
Mer raises an eyebrow at the man's words. "These surface dwellers are odd."
still concentrating on the statue, "I am Drow" Mer say's in such a way as if it explains everything about his manner. "You'll have to forgive my mannerisms. In my homeland...' Mer pauses trying to think of the right word then eventually settles on "...humility isn't rewarded. Admittedly, I am confused by your willingness to not only part with such an item, but pay me to take it. Regardless though, I do like a challenge and you drive a hard bargain. I'll take your gold and the statue and even the fruit if your offer stands."
After leaving the shop mer still turns the statue over in his hand trying to figure out what it does.
To Pinky,"It's hardly a pompous attitude if it's true. *mental shrug* I almost had figured this out but something eludes me. I'll memorize Identify in the morning and give it a go again. So what would you like to do now?"
To self "How does one be more honest in an attempt to divine the uses of an item? I thought I was very honest about wanting to know what this does."

Meredian, your keen arcane insight leads you to believe that the illusion you normally wear to hide your Dark Elven heritage is somehow interfering with your ability to discover the full and true extent of what power lies within the statue.
Can I get Perception checks from my 'devout' trio?

I though that the illusion didn't work on the island?
Having a minor revelation Meredian finds a private place and drops his illusion revealing his true nature. He then concentrates and tries to determine the nature of the statue again (or the next day if needed).

That protection has been temporarily suspended to help track down any more attackers. I meant to mention that before, sorry
Mer, you suddenly become aware of a presence within the statue once you reveal your true form. You realize the smartest thing to do would be to study it in much more detail in your 'room'. You make your away back to the inn, and once inside your rented room, enter your Magnificent Mansion. From there, you sit down at a table, and begin to study the statue more in depth. Your able to figure out that by saying several activation phrases in Undercommon, you can unlock the power within the figure. Doing so, a ghostly image of the wizard, now obviously a Drow, appears before you.
In Undercommon "Thank you freeing me. I have been trapped inside that infernal statue for several dozen centuries. Unfortunately few of our kind come to the surface and even fewer manage find me. None have had the intelligence to figure out how to release me. For doing that, I will use some of my formidable power to bend reality to my will and grant you your heart's desire. However, I am not omnipotent and thus have some limitations."

Not my strong suite.
"I never have been good at reading the meaning behind the words of others. However, I find when dealing with other drow to simply assume they don't have my best interests at heart. That being said I'd rather you not cast anything on me directly. However if you want to bend reality to your will and help figure out information about my current dilimea than I wouldn't object. Treerazers minions are after my compaions and I. Find out what his game is and consider your debt for freeing you paid. Sound fair?"
