Swans and geese have serrated beaks and bone spurs on the sides of their tongues. They're birds with TEETH.

Sorry for taking so long to post! I've been busy with work, it's been a completely insane couple of weeks news-wise, and I was locked out of the Paizo site for a couple of days before I received the cookie deletion fix from tech support.

No worries, Amandine. I think we all had to deal with the log-in issue, and the RL issues are completely understandable and relatable, too.

I'm enjoying the conversation between Amandine and Meraki.
Once we're ready to move on, I believe the next step is returning to Lotheedar to deliver Festo and your report to the Archbanker, as well as to collect your reward. There may be other developments once you're in Lotheedar, too.
With the farm and market improvements wrapping up in Stachys, before you depart, did you want to leave instructions for the next set of improvements to be built?
Amandine Santon |
Off the top of my head we have rebuilding the mill and the bridge to go yet. Maybe the bridge next if we'd still have money left for the mill afterward? We were just there so we know the bridge is cleared of extra complications in getting the work done now.
Meraki Hannan |
I had a lot of fun with the conversation as well! Thank you to Amandine for initiating it, and to everyone else for letting the new girl have a bit of the spotlight. :)
RE: Improvements: I agree on rebuilding the mill and then the bridge. I'll prepare a slightly different spell loadout for tomorrow's travels.

I had fun with it too Meraki. I hope the slow induction into the group hasn't been frustrating for you. It seemed like the way things ought to go instead of an instant acceptance and gut spilling about what's really going on.
Amandine hasn't exactly lied to Meraki, she's editing and coloring and withholding in a way that lets her slowly divulge more as trust builds without exactly having to directly contradict what she told Meraki earlier.
Of course you may find out the whole story earlier from a different character if one of them spills the beans. But even hyper-cautious Amandine isn't going to drag things out much longer.
Meraki Hannan |
Nah, hasn't bothered me at all. Your group's had a fair bit of turnover since you arrived in Stachys, and you are on a secret mission, so it makes sense. The adventure with the Abadarans helped forge some (in character) trust, I hope, and I'm sure Meraki will have more chances to prove herself!

I’m 4 days without power now due to the big ice storm. No idea when it will be back on. I’ll return when possible. Bot me as needed.
Dro'gan 'Manyfaces' |
Be safe. I just went 26 hrs herein Texas without power. Luckily my ex didn't lose power and could take my little one in. My older son and I stuck it out by burning wood in our fireplace and grilling our food. Can't do another round of that without resupply however. For those like us who are not freezing weather types: Remember! Keep a stock of candles, batteries/ flashlights, and plenty of dry/canned food. I also recommend some battery backup/solar powered chargers for cell phones.
Meraki Hannan |
Sorry you're both going through this right now. Hopefully with the warming weather things will be sorted out for you soon. :(
Amandine Santon |
Sorry it's taken so long to get back in the game. I ended up being SIX days before we got power restored. I can't complain too much, it wasn't bitterly cold here like in Texas, and there weren't other problems like water. But six days is a long time. It did leave me having to completely clear out and clean the fridge and freezer, so also a weekend after spent trying to get back to normal.
Anyway, a few things...
Amandine isn't going to be able to use the wand for a good long time. Her UMD is currently at +1. There is a Talent Amandine could take that lets her use Inspiration on UMD rolls, but it would still be a while before she could activate a wand.
I've also been having some trouble figuring out how to use some of the Persona Development options. Several of them seem very situational. For example Arrange Secret Meeting would be a really good one to pick for Amandine but it requires circumstances that haven't come up yet as far as I can see. Like Meraki I've been thinking about the possibility of a group effort on one. I've had Organize Party in mind as one we could do as a group at Betony Manor. Maybe a few options besides Charm could be worked in if others are looking to build points in other areas.
I've actually been planting some seeds for this for a while now, inviting people we've befriended to come for a visit at some unspecified future time and so forth. I've been thinking it could work as a way to gather everyone who we can count on for support down the road and begin to solidify a faction.
Does this sound appealing to the rest of y'all?
Dro'gan 'Manyfaces' |
Works for me. We could use it as an excuse to show people the benefit of investing in infrastructure to improve the whole country and the economy.
Greenly Baerdóttir |
God Greenly would love that she has a higher UMD than Amandine (+3), no one tell her.
imo, the Persona system is fun but also entirely flawed. I quite like this guide for potential changes.
I hope we get the chance continue working on influencing all the gala NPCs in addition to the many many sidequests in Meratt.
I think we should investigate the Swan both as Lucretzia (whom Greenly gave the bouquet to, which IIRC raises your standing by one full attitude, but Chana and I also both influenced her some, so if Marthane is the Swan, and she started out as hostile, she should at least be unfriendly if not indifferent, which, hey, huge improvement), and as the spirit of the Lauchlein Lake.
Meraki Hannan |
Glad to see you're back with us!
I don't have a strong opinion on the Persona system, but I like your idea of a big group effort on one. I also think it makes sense to attack the Swan mystery from both angles. If she is not the spirit of Lauchlein Lake, we should be able to rule it out fairly quickly.

Hey all, posting will be slow for a while; I work in the tourism and hospitality industry in a city where St. Pat's is 1000% everything, apologies as we go into this next week
Meraki Hannan |
Stay safe, and I hope everyone tips well!

Greenly: Savannah? NOLA?
I think we've hit one of those points where everyone is waiting for someone else to do something? :)
I'll go back and read the last few posts and see if I can kickstart things.

Savvy
Twice in the last ten years, we've had the largest celebration in the world, despite only having 110,000 citizens in the city limits
Amandine Santon |
Been run ragged lately. I'll get my head back in this now.
@Greenly: I knew you were somewhere in the Southeast. I'm originally from Tennessee so I know Savanna does it up big for St. Patrick's day. I figured if not Savanna then NOLA because anything and everything is a reason for a party there. I had no idea St. Patrick's was that big a deal though!

I'm a terrible note-taker. Ask any of my teachers throughout the entirety of my schooling.
And I run games
And it's chaos
And now I'm a paladin

Just an FYI: My dad went into the hospital tonight with heart problems. I'm not allowed to go help since my mom is the only one allowed to be with him right now with Covid restrictions. But things may get weird for me over the next week or two unless he gets better. Regardless, all I'm saying is be patient on my responses here for the game. I want to post when I can, but I may be erratic at best unless things change/get better.
DM Vayelan |
@Dro'gan: I'm very sorry to hear about your family's troubles. I can empathize all too well, unfortunately.
My mother was hospitalized last weekend with severe COVID pnuemonia, and she passed away today.
I've tried to keep my own posting rate regular (I certainly enjoy the fun diversion my games provide), but dealing with such a family crisis makes everything quite erratic.
We'll give you the patience and understanding that I hope you can give me, as well.
Dro'gan 'Manyfaces' |
Absolutely. I'm truly sorry for your loss DM Vayelan...please stay in touch. Take all the time you need.
Some Semi-Good news: My dad is feeling better, but has blood clot in his lung. So things are not over yet, but the prognosis is not all bad.
Meraki Hannan |
I am so sorry that the two of you are going through such an awful time right now. Take all the time you may need.
Greenly Baerdóttir |
Howdy, y'all, hell week is over, but today another of my grandparents died which makes three in six months. Will be catching up in these next few days. Thank you for your patience
Meraki Hannan |
Jesus, Greenly. I'm so sorry.
Greenly Baerdóttir |
Good news, y'all! I am still here
The bad news, is that I lost my cell phone on the airplane on the way to my grandfather's funeral, and have been unable to log into any of my accounts until now. But I am back! I am very sorry to all that I missed the ENTIRE month of March. I am still ready and willing to return if you will still have me; thank you AGAIN for your patience and understanding.
Amandine Santon |
Of course your still in the game! Don't be silly! I'm sorry it's been such a terrible month for you. I'm glad it's over, more or less.
Dro'gan 'Manyfaces' |
'Adventure' she calls it. I nearly got the Swan to admit to her secret identity! Welcome back too by the way.
Meraki Hannan |
Welcome back!

I'd like to let you all know that starting tomorrow, I'm going on a mini vacation. I'm going to travel to a little prairie village of no more than 100 people, where my grandmother used to live. I won't have internet during my stay, so there won't be any updates. I'll be away at least until Sunday, but maybe Monday. I'm going to disconnect from the internet world, and try to move my legs a little and read.

"Oh!" is Festo's initial, muted response as he listens to the Betony party describe themselves. Though they may not understand the truths underlying Amandine's words, Meraki and Olivia recognize that Festo is caught off guard by the array of faiths and backgrounds present.
"Well, although some might scoff and call it a vulnerability, I'd say that Taldor's diversity is one of its strengths," he muses, although sounding unsure of himself. "After all, it is not as though the First Vault contains naught but identical gold coins. There are gems of every color, cut, and size with a worth all their own."
Well done, GM. I like that metaphor. Though Olivia is probably thinking "So what you're saying is, you think some people are worth more than others."

Thank you.
Also, Olivia's interpretation is not wrong. I imagine some Abadarans would use a similar parable to justify socioeconomic class divisions or even caste systems.Amandine Santon |
Wow, those posts stacked up fast! I've been sucked into a home renovation project for a few days now that has turned out to be much slower going than I expected. It always seems to happen that way, so I don't know why I don't expect it anymore.
Anyway, it's (mostly) done now.
Amandine Santon |
And again, sorry. I got my 1st covid-19 shot and was under the weather for a couple of days afterward.
