Titian Troll |

Well, we grab them and go and see if the boy becomes a monster and attacks, or we leave them here. I say we grab them for their own good. The job of adults is to protect children even if they protest."

Cynehelm of Orlov |

The die being cast, Cynehelm joins Jetro in his actions, trying to snatch up the little girl.

Moving up as if to talk with the children Cynehelm makes a quick grab and gets a hold of Anastasia. As he does so all hell breaks loose as Alexie screams in rage. One second you see a small anemic boy and the next blink of an eye you see a multilimbed monstrosity with claws and blade. Its abdomen and chest a glistening mass of veins, organs, and twisted flesh.
Nowhere is the interlocutor’s mastery of flesh more apparent than in their bodies, for their apotheosis from mortal into kyton involves the shedding of useless parts down to a tangle of nerves, veins, and various organs. These are then incorporated into bodies made of semi-living metal fashioned from raw shadowstuff harvested in strange reaches of the Plane of Shadow, giving the kyton a terrifying body. Periodically, an arm or other “leftover” limb is retained by the kyton, but only in the same way someone might retain ownership of a treasured piece of jewelry as a keepsake or memento. Some interlocutors retain nothing of their old bodies of flesh save the brain, nerves, and portions of their circulatory system.
As an outsider you know it resists some damage from weapons and is resistant to spells.
Init order: Duardlara, 'Alexie', Titan, Jetro, and Cynehelm

Duardlara Frostborn |

Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Do I get additional information? I'd like resistances first if so.

Duardlara Frostborn |

"Kyton! Your silvered weapons or blessed arms will hit it more successfully. And cold bothers it not in the least. It will shrug off much magic, so be prepared if that's your choice."
I don't recall what her state of readiness was or what weapon, if any, she had readied. I will review my posts and get back to you.

Duardlara Frostborn |

Duardlara steps back 5' farther from the kyton "Alexi" and whips up her bow to fire twice at close range.

DM Variel |

Duardlara launches 2 arrows and the first just manages to hit the flat-footed demon causing sneak damage. The second arrow flies off the tough skin. Even then the first arrow is reduced in its effectiveness.
The kyton then turns its full attention on Cynehelm as he is holding his 'sister'.

2 of the claws hit for a total of 41 damage and 5 bleed.
As it is fully in its form now everyone needs to make a will DC 22 save on their turns or unnerved as you think you see your own body parts floating in the morass of tissue that composes the kyton's body. Failure means you are staggered for that round.
Party up!

Jetro Clampett |

Will save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

I just realized that I failed to include the bonus from my sniper goggles to the sneak attack damage. That should have been +12.
Duardlara calls on her magic to cause her shot to be disguised by an illusion. Using impromptu sneak attack to declare her shot a sneak attack.
Impromptu Sneak Attack: 1d20 + 13 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 13 - 4 = 10
Damage and Sneak Attack: 1d8 + 1 + 6d6 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 1 + (2, 1, 1, 5, 6, 3) + 12 = 35
Seeing the abysmal result of her shot, she saves the second arrow in favor of maneuvering toward the cleric.

Duardlara stows her bow, casts a spell, and disappears from view.

"Demon!" says Cynehelm. "I am a servant of the Sacred Flame. Your disguises will not avail you. Flee now or be destroyed!"
He speaks a beautiful word of the Celestial language, one of the words spoken at the creation of the world and used to divide the nighttime from the day.

Jetro unleashes a single arrow striking the kyton and hurting it. Cynehelm tries to affect the kyton with the power of angels but it seems to have little to no effect on the creature. Titian rips into Alexie again with weapon and maw Dont forget to include the -5 for secondary attack with a bite in the future. The combined damage from Titian and Jetro cause the beast to stumble and fall. This happens before Duardlara casts her invisibility spell.
combat over

Duardlara Frostborn |

Duardlara pauses, a spell almost cast, and thinks quickly. ”Did the beast carry anything of significance, possibly a talisman to link it to the Liar?”
She will search the corpse before asking the girl if Rasputin has given her any gifts that she carries with her.
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30

Cynehelm of Orlov |

Cynehelm turns to Anastasia with a kind voice. "I'm sure that wasn't easy to see. But that wasn't your brother. Rasputin caused that evil thing to pretend to be your brother so you would do as he said. Do you understand that?"

Duardlara Frostborn |

”These are healing draughts. Titian, perhaps you should take one, that wound looks serious. This charm on the necklace is to prevent one from being found, assuming Rasputin hasn’t perverted it somehow.”
She will attempt to verify that the amulet is what it appears to be. If it is, putting it on the girl would be perfect right about now.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21

Duardlara Frostborn |

"Cynehelm, this necklace should make it hard for Rasputin to find Anastasia using magic. I think that's probably the wisest use of it right now. I don't think I will be able to convince her to wear it, however."

Titian Troll |

Thanks for the -5 reminder.
Titan cast heal on himself.

DM Variel |

Anastasia acquiesces to Cynehelm as she stays in shock. The fact that her 'brother' was a creature from nightmares causing her to relapse. The fragile shell of her memory loss and confusion is now broken. Only time will tell if she will come out of the horror of today and the last few weeks or if she will fade away into obscurity. Until then she is willing to follow you and listen to you.

Titian Troll |

"Let's get her to safety. Recover for the night and brain storm destroying the world anchors."

Duardlara Frostborn |

"We will have to do it on foot. I have used my spells that could transport us for the day."

DM Variel |

So what is the plans? you are in the middle of a fortified encampment with troops all around you. Electrical fences are between you and freedom. You have an almost catatonic follower that stares vacantly out at space as her mind is blown away. You know eventually that your presence will be found out...what to do?

Titian Troll |

The control weather snow and sleet should still be offering us some cover. I can give us a wind will from the north end of this building to way outside the camp and surround the northeast tower in an ash storm. I can turn into a dinosaur and fly the girl out of here.
