Game Master Keddah

Map of the Realms

Dramatis Personae
Gavin - Kleth - Kyli - Menrozzar - Oryx

Welcome everyone, thank you very much for joining in this adventure.

First I'd like everyone to tell me what they expect from the game (either through here or a private message) so I can try to meet your hopes.

And now, to the meat:

If you don't mind I'd like your posts both on the OOC thread and the IC thread to be made with your Alias to avoid making things confusing.

About the DM rolls:

I do most dice rolls in the open. I just keep for myself those for NPC's bluff checks and for those characters I don't want you to know their stats (main NPCs mostly) I also prefer to do your Sense Motive rolls if you don't mind, you just call for a roll and I make it and tell you if you find something out. I think this helps the mistery and makes for a more enjoyable experience but I'm open to suggestions.

On the IC thread sometimes I'll post things like :

Perception DC 15:
Hah! Made you look.

I do this to speed things up, so you don't have to wait for me to answer after your rolls, I trust you won't have a look if you didn't pass the check, and if you do yo will be able to keep Player Knowledge and Character Knowledge separate.

About the writing IC:

I personally favour present tense, the usual Bold for talk, Italics for thoughts, Bigger for shouting, Smaller for whispering, and spoilers with the language name for things said in a language other than common.
And I hate @anybodys... I don't think "writing says X to Y" is so much effort

Heya.

Thanks for including me :)

Not sure what to expects other than I'm excited to dive back into the realm again after over a decade. Gonna re-read my fav books. When I think of the Realms I think of the high adventure of the RA Salvatore books and other novels by Mel Odom.
I feel the best heroes are defined by memorable and great villains as well as exciting locales.

Hope that helps :)

I post on average once or twice a day. Also I'm on the other side of the world so my first post it probably when everyone is asleep.

I'm here. Thanks for including me.

I'm looking forward to a fast paced game with the typical flare of the Realms.

PC-wise, as I accidentally on the southbound forum, I want to see her in a knightly order or paladin/prestige class down the line.

Male Halfling Cleric 1 | HP: | AC: () | CMD: | Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ | Init:+ | Perception:+

I am very excited to be invited into this nostalgic journey into the Realms. My early days of gaming began back in the 2nd edition era. We spent endless hours exploring the dungeon beneath Shadowdale, facing off against the Red Wizards of Thay, and getting caught up in countless escapades in the City of Splendors.

The Forgotten Realms shaped my early experiences so definitively that, when I took over as the DM for my group at the dawn of 3rd edition, it was in Faerun that the next decade of gaming would take place. While I enjoy both playing and GMing in Golarion, there will always be something special about the world that Ed Greenwood created. So...!

What am I looking for? Heroic adventures, challenging scenarios that require both might and wit, memorable and unique villains, and stalwart companions to share the story with!

To Arms!

Male Aasimar Paladin 2

Hello there. Thank you very much for including me in the campaign. I, too, am excited to revisit playing in the Realms for the first time since AD&D 2nd Ed!

As you know, Keddah, I have unique circumstances which make me quite the available player. What I most hope for is as lengthy a journey across Faerun as we can manage, even into years. I'm ready and happy to devote myself for the long haul.

Otherwise, Malachi was written to be a wanderer and there are all manner of interesting sites in the north for him to visit. His primary interest is in learning more about his divine origins, so it would be entertaining to have opportunities here and there for him to explore that and grow closer to the celestial bloodline he's embraced.

Otherwise? As a paladin of Lathandar, he's about as youthful and adventuresome as one would imagine, in addition to being generally easy to get along with and helpful. Well suited to any sort of adventure we might undertake.

Sorry everyone. I posted in the wrong alias above.

Well, I have just a couple questions:

  • Do you want to work out how your adventuring party came to be or should I do it for you?

  • Does your party have a name? It has advantages (people will know who you are) and disadvantages (people will know who you are)

  • Male Dwarf Oracle (Stone) 2, Init +1 (+3 while underground); AC 17, touch 11, flat-footed 16, HP 16/19), Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +3; +2 vs. poison, spells, and spell-like abilities, Senses darkvision 30 ft, Perception +2

If you have a cool idea for it then I don't mind you coming up with it :)

Er... can't think of a name at the moment.

    Male Halfling Cleric 1 | HP: | AC: () | CMD: | Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ | Init:+ | Perception:+

If we are going the way of nostalgia, perhaps the most classic, our characters all answered a call for heroes to deal with the aforementioned rat plague and we simply ended up paired together?

As for party name, perhaps something will come to us over time. After all, we are only 2nd level at this point.

    Shadow's Status | Wizard 1 (Abjurer)/Cleric 1 Azuth - HP = 19/19 | AC = 12 | CMD 12 | F +4 | R + 4 | W +6 | Ini +2 | Per + 7

Agreed, a DM back story can also include elements for future campaigns we are not considering.

As far as group names I'd have to give it a bit more thought once we start to engage in actual RP!

    Male Halfling Cleric 1 | HP: | AC: () | CMD: | Fort:+ Refl:+ Will:+ | Init:+ | Perception:+

A heads up to those who have not hopped in yet - the Gameplay thread is live! GAME ON!

We have a pretty potent group. Three melee bruisers, two primary casters, and a skill monkey.

Oh, and given all the in game talk of food thus far, I propose our first party name: Gavin and the Rumble-Bellies!! j/k

    Male Human Bloodrager 7/Dragon Disciple 5 | AC 24, touch 12, flat-footed 22 Uncanny Dodge | HP 109/109 (143/143 Bloodrage); 24 nonlethal | Fort +12, Ref +8, Will +9; Resist fire 10 | Perception +15; blindsense 30 ft. | Init +6 | Bloodrage 33 rounds/day | Active Effects: none

Good day! I am here, I was just very busy with the Easer holiday. Family events can be quite hectic.

I'd like to say I'm expecting grand adventures of the sort that bards shall sing about for generations! I think it's very much an exciting opportunity.

Oh, GM Keddah, I forgot to ask, is the Arcane Schooling feat okay for my regional feat as is, or does it need some modification?

    Furious Charge:

    Arcane Schooling
PRE: Deep Imaskari (Underdark [Deep Imaskar]), Drow (Underdark [Sshamath]), Human (Chessenta, the Golden Water, Halruaa, Lantan, Mulhorand, Nimbral, Unther, or the Wizards' Reach), or Planetouched (Chessentra).
In your homeland, all who show some skill at the Art may receive training as arcane spell casters. Thus, many characters know something of the ways of the bard, the sorcerer, or the wizard.
As such, choose one arcane spell casting class. You can activate spell trigger magic items as if you had 1 level in the selected class.

    Gavin's Gastronomic Guardians!

Just noticed I mislabeled my spoiler. I was originally going to take Furious Charge, but upon rereading I would need to count as an Orc to take that. As a Human, there's no dice on it.

    Male Aasimar Paladin 2

I don't mind if we come up with a name as we go along, or if you arrange something, Keddah.

Malachi already has a personal adventurer moniker, Dawnmane, for his Aasimar-related hair color. It transitions from gold to rose hue at the ends, like the dawn! I'd have an avatar, but finding something appropriate is a challenge and I sadly can't upload my own.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Can I just say I love how Oryx has a literal pet rock? It's great.

Haha thanks man! I thought it would be a nice touch to the character. I even tried looking for an avatar image of a rock to create an alias cos I thought it would be funny but didn't find a good one to use.

I'm taking control of Malachi as an NPC for the time being. He hasn't posted in more than a week and hasn't responded to a pm I sent him.

Dropping his bow, Menrozzar moves to the right, drawing his flail as he does so, and prepares to meet the coming charge of hobgoblin raiders. The pulse of battle stirs in his blood, and those who look notice that the hands gripped round the fail seem to have twisted into razor-sharp claws.

Free action drop bow, free action to enter bloodrage, drawing flail while moving to face the hobgoblin charge from the right, readied action to attack the first hobgoblin to come within reach.

I might have just lost my flail

I don't use fumbles in PbP games so you just missed, no worries.

Excitedly awaiting the hobgoblins actions so I can kill more greenskins!

Seems it's not the tanks lucky day

Edit after my rolls: It CERTAINLY is not their day.

ouch, good thing we started at level 2

By the way, to speed things up, you can act outside your turn if there's no enemies or NPCs between whoever turn it is and yours. Unless anyone interferes in another character's actions and we need to retcon this can help make combat quicker.

This would be going very differently if my first two combat rolls hadn't been nat 1's. Just saying.

Also, I think Kyli might need a little healing.

GM, don't forget my AC is 2 less because of blood rage.

Heh, that made the DM in me smile.

Since it's clear Malachi's player is not coming back I intend to retire the character soon, with two full BAB I feel the party can cope well.

I won't be adding anyone else for the time being, I think 5 players are enough for now.

There's a hobgoblin still standing. Gavin wounded him but didn't kill him, I may not have been clear about that. Sorry

Hi. I'm out of town with barely any cell phone signal. I'm sorry to have given no warning but it's been a familiar emergency. Should be back home by Wednesday at most.

    Apologies again.

FYI, my plan is to cast Bless next round, based on my Knowledge check, Kleth believed that Light was the more prudent immediate action.

    Really enjoying this group!

Taking out of the equation that 20% miss chance is a good idea in my opinion too.

Hi all, I'll be out of town from friday 28th july to friday 4th august.
I may get some chances to post but I'm not sure how many. So if I don't post much during that time don't think I've abandoned you!

    DM:
Playing in 20+ games and running 26 (soon to be 27) is time consuming. Outside of the boards I have a fairly busy work schedule and of course a life!

Often I find that if I fall behind in updates, I need to make time to simply update a Discussion Thread to inform the PCs of a particular game that I am either going to be posting later in the day or week or will be on a break form the boards for one reason or another.

To save time updating so many damn threads I am going to open this thread and link all of my DM aliases (and PC aliases) to this thread to inform people as to my status. So if I am missing for a time, just go ahead and click on the link in my Avatar and you will be able to ascertain my board status.

My sincerest apologies if this is a bit of an inconvenience where you are waiting on me for an action but posting "I will be away for the next 3 days" 47 times (or more) is just not working for me any longer. Thank you for your understanding!
