Somewhat based off of Yara Greyjoy.
I was born to a human father and elven mother not too far distant from the city of Silverymoon. My parents had a passionate love, and chose the simple life of Innkeepers so they could be left alone. My father was mercenary before meeting my mother, he wielded a greataxe for coin but he did not start out that way. At first, he wanted to be part of a knightly order, to help those that could not help themselves. But even the most noble of intentions need to eat, and he was paid well for his blade. Not too long after that, he met my mother and settled down.
My days were whiled away with the teachings of my mother and the life of serving maid of an inn. I quickly learned the art of fighting and by the time I was in my mid-teens, I could hold my own. My body was lean and taught from years of hauling water from the well into the inn and I could wield a blade pretty well. My father and our guests taught me all I know about fighting.
When I reached my 20s, I realized it was time for me to make my own way. It was just something inside me that told me it was time to move on. My father understood but my mother did not. In the end, she gave her blessing and my father gave me his blade. I started with simple work close to home that came from the regulars at the inn. As my skill grew, so did my appetite for exploring and ranging further and further from home.
Of course, my formative years were not all axe practice, inn sweeping, and water hauling. I had my childhood issues, just like anyone. The Thinder girl especially. I do not know why she bothers me so much but I must bother her too because she never misses an opportunity to taunt me or call a boy to her when I may have his attention. She also often calls me “freak” because of my eye color. It is what it is but people often ask me if I have celestial blood in me. I wish. I know I shouldn't take easy offense by her childish name calling but I get flushed really easily which adds to my embarrassment. I need to get stronger and not let her bother me.
Until that time, I will laugh in the face of danger, even though it is a nervous laugh. Perhaps someday it will be a real laugh! And I will continue towards my goals, and the goal of my father. To defend those that cannot defend themselves and become an icon. I am Kyli Kanan, and I will not fail… I hope.
