Game Master Deiros

Principality of Zeon has tolerated enough from the sanctions and punishments of the Earth Federation. Under the great Degwin Zabi we have rallied the oppressed spacenoids to teach the Earth Federation that the Republic of Zeon will not be oppressed.

Sieg Zeon!

Always liked gundam and this particular rule set is based on Mekton Zeta.

I have the character creation rules and will provide the Mobile Suit stats of course.

Anyone interested on a Zeon campaign?

Liberty's Edge

It sounds interresting to try something different do you have a place I can read through the rules? I could find it online ofc but I just like to know I read the same version as you.

Character Creation

Mobile Suits are already made, and just checking on interest for now before we go through the MS-06F Zaku II and customization options.

I'm quite rusty in my Gundam lore, but I'd be willing to give this a try. The character creation rules seem complex and I'm not entirely sure how they work, but if you are willing to take on a newbie I'm in!

Just don't bother with the background rolls, they are there to help you get an idea.

Mostly roll stats and pick skills.

The background rolls sound actually found and I might try it and just the result if needed. Basicly it's the following thing that seem weird:

Body chart : Am I suppose to do something here?

APPEARANCE CHART : 1 -> 10... everything seem to be on d6 but this is a d10? and there is a mention of getting lower the 1 so....

Skills: So vets get 60 points to spend in 9 skills... 9x6=54! so I have a extra 6 points that goes where??

Starting Newtype Points <- No idea what this mean.

Appearance chart is a guideline for that particular stat, and if you intend to play a female character you best have the minimum appearance allowed or higher.

Willpower: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
Movement: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Luck: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
Appearance: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
Empathy: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
Technical: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
Body: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
Intelligence: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Reflex: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Body 2 3-4 5-7 8-9 10
Head 4 5 6 7 8
Torso 8 10 12 14 16
Limbs 6 7 9 10 12

Depending on your roll for Body that is how much damage your body part can take.

Damage modifier small chart is the same. High body stat gives you a bonus to damage with melee rolls

This stats are also derived from your Body stat.
Body Stun Lift Throw Dmg EV
2 4 20 6m -2 2
3-4 5 40 12m -1 2
5-7 6 60 20m 0 4
8-9 7 90 26m +1 6
10 8 120 30m +2 8

There is a list of skills further ahead in it for you to use. Just remember as a MS pilot

I suggest you focus on MS Pilot this skills.

MS Fighting - Punch, Kick, Shoulder Charge
MS Melee - Melee weapons related
Gunnery - Projectile weapons, like machine gun or a cannon
Missile - Bazooka, or middila launcher

Most average Zeon pilots have 4 in the piloting skills, comms/sensor 2, tech 2, tactics 1, zero-g 4

This is a "timeline" and additional info for those that don't know or need to refresh their memory of the Universal Century.

Ok let me try this.

How does that look?

Didn't see the other page for the skills. Make a lot more sense now. I still don't understand the Starting Newtype Points? What are those?

New type just adds skill points to the pool.

My experience with Gundam is all over the place unfortunately. Mark it down to poor releases in the US. :)

First time I really saw Gundam was Gundam Wing (Which appears to be an alternate timeline to your setting?).

So not had a chance to watch anything in any sort of order.

Before I do skills, I want to clarify. It seems like the only real difference between rookie and civilian is that a civilian wouldn't be able to pick combat skills, although that is not stated. And between rookie and veteran being a veteran you get 2x the starting skill points, but you get 1/2 the experience points in game, since you're already very skilled. Is that correct?

Yes, but only until rookies catch up, that is why veterans get less experience.

The timeline is the Universal Timeline, when earth still using tanks, submarines, helicopters, etc... as weapons, on top of the space and mobile suits. It's the grittiest and less over the top setting.

You can move your rolls around to fit your character better if you want. I suggest High reflex for your mobile suit combat and body of 5 to 7 so you are at least "average".

Most NPC have 5 in the relevant stats and an 7 or 8 in reflex.

Additional rules

Finally found the damn file.

You will be piloting the "MS-06F" Zaku II to start.

All zaku types

Eventually you can "specialize" in another Zaku and keep upgrading them, or move to other Mobile Suits that will become available. MS-07 Gouf, MS-08 Efreet, MS-09 Dom, MS-10 Zudah, MS-14 Gelgoog, MS-15 Gyan, or MS-18 Kampfer.

There are also specialized versions of each of the other mobile suits.

Just remember to have at least a 4 on your two Mobile Suit fighting skills like Gunnery and Melee so you can be balanced, and a 3 on Fighting and Missile.

Remember were it says typical skill is what the average Zeon pilot has when using such weapons.

Liberty's Edge

I'm back sorry was a busy day yesterday and most of today but have time now to read through the files :)

I need a little more time reading through the skills and how to assign my points.

Nice! Those are some good stats.

I'm looking over the skill list. You said we need at least 4 in ms fighting skill, but the rookie can only raise them to 3.

I have a lot of reading to do...

Well assuming most are veterans, but a 3 is perfectly fine. Just the "averge" pilot will have a 4 on 2 of the Mobile suit skills. MS fighting skill is for punching, kicking, and shoulder charge only. They are only useful if you are going to do a heavy melee type character.

The only stat I had below 6 was Empathy of 3.

GM:

I was thinking, given he has decent stats and low empathy, that he might have been part of an experiment. That's actually fairly standard trope within Gundam. Picked as a kid, raised in a lab and given training day in and day out, making him stubborn (High Will) and above average stats across the board, as well as a veteran despite a young age (16 to 19), but with issues dealing with other humans.

The zaku stats all state 'typical pilot' of 5 or higher, despite 6 being our max. Is that a typo? Seems like we'll be outskilled as veterans at the start. Only the zaku tank has a skill of 4.

On a related note, I actually have most of those gundam mini's on a shelf. :) Almost all of them 'capsule' mechs imported from Japan. :)

No typical stats is just to let you know that the nameless joe will have that stat to shoot/fight with.

So basically a Zaku is already made to represent average joes.

You would substitute your skills were appropriate.

For skills only list those with points, as I can safely assume you have 0.

So far only 3
Jasper, Rannik, and mdt

I need 1 more or a GMPC of sorts to make the minimum Mobile Suit squad.

I might be willing to try this out but I know nothing about gundam other than playing one of the dynasty warriors spinoffs on one occasion and watching a few episodes of Wing. Is there a quick primer I should read before getting in?

Body: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Willpower: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9
Reflex: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
Luck: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10

Appearance: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9

Probably going with Veteran. With my high luck I don't think NT points are all that useful. I'm going to randomgen the rest of the character:

Family Social Status: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 My character came from a hardworking family of lifetime laborers. They learned early on the value of a good days labor. A strong sense of patriotism would have led them to seeking out a military recruiter

Family Situation: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Parental Fate: 1d6 ⇒ 2
A3-1: 1d6 ⇒ 2 My character wasn't the first in the family to join up. They followed in the footsteps of one of their parents who never came back. My character strives to fill their shoes - both at home and in service.

Family Standing: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Family Crisis: 1d6 ⇒ 6
C-2: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Shortly after joining the military my characters received news that their family had been caught up in a terrible accident that had killed almost all of them. Such was the risks that came with labor, but still it left my character grief stricken. To cope they pushed themselves even harder in their military service.

Family Goals: 1d6 ⇒ 5 My character knows that members of the military have access to dozens of benefits and perks for as long as they serve. They are willing to put their life on the line every day to make sure that their remaining family members are taken care of.

Siblings: 1d6 ⇒ 5 My character was an only child but still may have had a large extended family to support them.

Friends: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Gender 1: 1d6 ⇒ 5
The friend is...: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 After the tragedy my character found solace in a certain female friend of theirs. This person was able to offer my character what they needed most: stability and a shoulder to cry on.

Enemies: 1d6 ⇒ 3 My character made it through life without any real enemies.

Romantic Life: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Ah, Love...: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6 My character is romantically involved in someone, but there's always another person trying to butt-in on the relationship. While tiresome, nothing serious has come of it yet.

Personality Traits: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Trait-1: 1d6 ⇒ 1 My character is shy & secretive and has difficulty genuinely connecting with other people. Outside of the few friends they do have they don't get along well with strangers.

Thing You Value Most is: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Value-1: 1d6 ⇒ 1 It may seem shallow, but my character knows that if they just had enough money they could make all of their problems go away.

Most Valued Possession: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Possession-1: 1d6 ⇒ 4 My character cherishes a photograph of his family members in the past before life had taken its toil. they guard it carefully, clinging to the memories of happier times.

Person You Value Most in the World: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Person-2: 1d6 ⇒ 1 My character has a strong connection with a mentor of theirs. My character may see this person as a parental figure in place of the one they have lost or simply have a great deal of respect for them.

Gender: 1d6 ⇒ 3 My character is female

Can we make any sort of modifications to our mechs? I saw a model of a MS-06F with a belt-fed gatling cannon and that looked pretty sweet.

Universal_Century

This is the wiki of the Universal Century timeline.

Players will fight for the Principality of Zeon can read this for additional information.

Now that we have 4 players we could start an actual game if you can all confirm.

I just think the 120mm rifles look a little doofy. Can I start with this?

Lol no but you can start with the 90 mm machine gun.

Your Zaku's will start with:
Heat Hawk
120mm Machine Gun
+1 Additional weapon

From this list:
Cracker Grenade x2
Sturm Faust x2

Options:
90mm Machine Gun change for 120mm Machine Gun

90mm does 1 less damage, smaller magazine, but is 1 handed, while your 120mm is 2 handed and does a bit more damage and bigger magazine.

I'll probably go with the 90mm 'cause it looks cooler. I asked earlier but what are we looking at for customization possibilities after the game has started? Will we be able to modify weapons or add systems?

Weapons not so much, but there will be different weapons, as well as different mobile suits.

You can get better armor for the suit, and improve the engine late on to use beam weapons.

Customization comes in the weapons you have available as you rank up or things are developed, as many mobile suits won't exists just yet.

Will I get in trouble for things like trying to loot enemies or wield two 90mm?

That depends, most weaponry you can't use or it needs to be modified. Wielding 2 90mm is fine, if you become an ace, which is when a lot of custom things get done. Like I said, the fun is once you rank up or make a name for yourselves, otherwise you will be locked to standard gear and optional armament that will continue to grow. Eventually more mobile suits etc. Everyone starts with the Zaku.

That was my point. We'll be starting out lower than average joes, even as veterans.

Or am I missing something? Do we get to add something based on our stat, since the skills are related to stats?

We could start, I'll need to work up a profile, pics, etc.

Are there sniper spec'd Zaku?

EDIT : Yes, there is. Would it be possible to start with a MS-05L sniper rifle instead of an assault rifle?

Normally the rolls are 2d6+Stat+Skill+WA (Weapon Accuracy)

So you will be ok, considering the Standard difficulty is 15.

There are 2 Zaku's that are "snipers"

One is the Zaku I Sniper that should show up in the zaku list above. There is a Zaku II set up called "Magella" Zaku. It uses a 175mm Recoiless rifle and straps 3-tube missile launchers on each leg and a heat hawk.

Liberty's Edge

I need to write up a profile and pick the skills but should be ready very soon.
I play from Denmark so my available times will probably be a little different than some of you

Not a problem, will start getting things ready.

We can move this conversation to the discussion board.

Liberty's Edge

Ok.. I JUST saw this.. I'm a SOOOO interested in this! Can I join?

Yes you can and that meets the 5 man team.

Liberty's Edge

Sweet.. I'll start making a character immediately.. I'm QUITE familiar with the Gundam universe and MEKTON Z! Run and played a few campaigns of Mekton Z-Plus all the way back to when it was only Mekton II! :)

I'd prefer to be the team sniper if possible. I always enjoy that position in games. If that's good with the GM. The ZAKU II Magella would, I assume, be the preferred model?

When you qualify for it, you get both options.

Zaku I sniper uses beam weapons which is for now the only one that can.

Ok, starting to take shape. I switch some stats around cause with a int of 3, I don't think anyone would trust me in control of a mobile suit...

Since I like the random background generator I'll give it a try and mod what doesn't make sense.

background rolls:
A: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11noble/wealthy... ok...
A2: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

There that wasn't too bad. Now just need to write that down with words instead of rolls. Almost done my skills too, should be able to make my first post in the discussion tab soon with my character.
