I'd go with spoiler tags, myself, but PMs are fine too.
One request for the party, for good order reasons:
Our characters may not necessarily like or trust another, but for the sake of good play, peace amongst players is a must.
As thus, I propose the following agreement:
No matter what kind of odd contrivances it may require, loot is a sacred thing OOC. No manipulating to cut yourself a bigger part of the deal.
If you have any problems OOC with another player, please let things be known early rather than leaving them to fester. I've seen these things go awry, and it's never pretty.
Is everyone fine with those terms?
ShallowHammer |
I am also available to arbitrate loot disputes if needed. I'd prefer to not have to, but can if someone posts an arbitrate request in the discussion forum. Just realize you may not get your way.
Azalea, I'm concerned that with the spoiler tags PC's may "peek" when they shouldn't. I'm not talking about small things like perception check results. But if I need to play an NPC encounter held in secret for a specific PC (like a patron asking for the status of a task), I want to have that option available...Unless it is too disruptive.
Robert Merrow |
I'm fine with Terms of PC Peace Azalea.
And as far as PM's that's fine with me. That's what I do on a skype game I run.
Also, I'm still waiting to hear word on any kinds of common creature types that live around Tallenfur. Still haven't settled on a favored enemy yet. Was hoping to have an option of things that Godfri would have had hostile contact with. If I don't hear word from you soon, Shallow Hammer, I'll settle on Elf and write it off as constantly sparring with his father and younger brother.
Until then. :D

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
By the way, you can edit your post if you posted it less than an hour ago. It helps avoid double posts like that.
Don't forget to pick an avatar. ^^
EDIT: UGH. Just accidentally lost a big amount of work made on my character sheet. Might be a little longer before I finish the whole thing.
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Cool thanks for that tip :D
Can I also add avatar pictures from my hard drive? I'm an artist and I plan on drawing my character. I was hoping to post the drawing as his avatar, zooming in on his face if need be.
I'm sure I'll have more questions for you at a later date.

Favored enemy....The area is pretty standard for creatures. At some point Orgre's and Goblins will be involved, as will be undead creatures. Can't say more. I will say that the characters and their backstories are a big part of how the campaign will play out so don't be too fearful of picking the "wrong" character type/feats/skills.
My goal is to start the gameplay thread Friday/Saturday. I'm letting everyone start out with equipment/weapons without restriction, but be aware that supply in this town is regulated by the guilds and those in power. You'll learn more as things move along. A signet ring is very useful, Godfri....
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Heh, I thought so. :D
Also, any thoughts as to my parent's last names? I wanted to leave that to you so you could have total control developing the towns major players. I'm assuming I've either never truly had it, or dropped it when I got kicked out. Still, it would be nice to know. If you're not looking to make that public knowledge, I'd be down with a PM :D
Azalea, how do I create the character profiles and what not on the website? I'm sure there's just a button somewhere that I'm missing, but all I've found are the Alias Name and Picture editing.

I think my question from earlier may have passed under the radar: Are we allowed to take a drawback in order to take a third trait? (Assuming that the drawback is one that actually has an impact on the character.)
Also are there any regional dialects or important languages that could be good to pick?
ShallowHammer |
Sorry I missed your questions, Azalea. I'm not real familiar with the language aspect of the rules, so let me read up on it today and post an answer this evening.
I'm ok with the drawback for a third trait, but just for one.
Initially, the adventures will focus on the forest and town. There are a couple that will be in the local area (like the Twilight Circle and Kalderdat Mine).
Third Mind, don't worry about having to work this weekend. Since you posted that it might affect your posting Friday/Saturday, I'll not apply the no-posting rule in your situation. That's a great example of how I want to handle those kind of situations.
Question for the group: Do you want more spelunking adventures or more intrigue city adventures? I plan on a mix of both, but I want to tailor things to your liking.
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Azalea you just made my day. Assuming you do end up going for item creation, consider me your official body guard haha. :D (I know, I know... metagaming...)
Anyway, I'm down for both dungeon delving, wilderness adventures, and intrigue. Change is my drug, and I think it will be fun to play a 9 Int and 6 Cha character in a tense and subtle political situation from time to time. On that note, I do plan on specializing in Intimidate down the road, since I'll be all big and beefy.
In any case, Godfri is ready to go as soon as I figure out how to put the "character sheet" online like Azalea and ShallowHammer did.
Azalea Bramson |
With only 14 dex and 10 con, I'm probably going to need you to be my official bodyguard anyway, Goddy. :P
But yeah, I do intend to pick up item crafting. I do, however, ask one thing: If someone wants me to craft an item and I can't craft it without knowing a spell that I don't know yet, I require that they pay the costs of acquiring that spell. That aside, I shall be crafting items for the party at-cost.
To put your character sheet in your profile, click your own name on one post -> Profile Tab -> Create Profile, or something like that.
Random thoughts, as far as advancement goes: I'm building Azalea with the intention of having her become a Loremaster at level 7. Also, I may or may not have her build a golem when the level and money is right.
Azalea Bramson |
I've been doing some thinking, and I've played a conjurer in another game before. For the sake of variety, I'm going to make Azalea an illusionist instead.
Question: Could I reflavor the blinding ray power as causing disorienting visual overload, as opposed to depriving a creature of sight? Seeing too much, as opposed to not seeing. I just can't justify an avid bibliophile inflicting blindness, even temporary.
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Hah!
I finally figured out how you did what you did to get all your jive up there like that.
Looking at the gaps in our physical capabilities... yeah, you might need a big beefy green guy to stand between you and danger pretty much 24/7. (It's a good thing you're smart) :D
Also, that's a clever twist on your school power.
Third Mind |
I have a quick question. Would archetypes be allowed if we can link them to you?
If so... Knife Master Also, if you allow mixing archetypes as the rules allow I'd also really like to add...Scout
Of course I understand if you'd rather not allow them. I can play plain rogue if you wish.
Azalea Bramson |
At higher levels I'll be able to cover the weakness with spells and summons and such, but right now... eesh. Especially now that you guys have all rolled and all got pretty good rolls, I have to confess I am a little annoyed with my results.
I'm almost tempted to ask for a reroll, but I'd dread getting all mid-range stats. See, this is why I normally do point-buy. If only I could just reroll that eight or that nine or whatnot. :P
And thank you. I figured I'd make Azalea somewhat of an "honest" illusionist. It's about projecting images, not about tricking the senses.
Godfri the Misbegotten |
It's ok.
Despite how much fun it is to play a tard, I always find it a little more annoying to be dumb than to be weak haha. I will have plenty of ideas that I might actually have to discard due to role playing, or intentionally make a bad choice due to such low rolls. The same goes for social situations and my low charisma.
At least you still get to be clever and creative nearly all the time haha. Hell, its possible your character is smarter than you (Azalea's IQ is nearly 200). If none of us have any idea's on how to overcome an obstacle, and if ShallowHammer allows for characters to make Intelligence rolls to figure things out, chances are it will be you pulling us out of our desperate struggle. (All my big biceps will be doing is buying your precious seconds to think it all through) :D
ShallowHammer |
I think I got my players.....Sorry, no re-rolls. Role-playing is going to be just as important as stats. I'm going to open the gameplay thread tonight and also post some info on the campaign website. Third Mind, play whatever you wish, a scout's skills will be very helpful in the forest parts. Godfri, the mines are going to be where you shine, I bet. Azalea, your backstory and smarts will truly help with the power players. Oloro will help with some very special places.......
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Actually I'm looking into that right now, trying to transition my build off of the paper and onto the website.
I didn't know for sure whether I wanted to use that for Back Story or for Game Mechanics, it looks like a little of both, yeah?
Anyway, updating that now and then I'll be PMing ShallowHammer with my full backstory (including the secret bits not for unmet players)
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Read my traits :D I got it approved, but will "pay" for it later.
[EDIT] Mwk Bastard Sword is normally out of my price range too, but not this time. It's sorta like I made a deal with the devil...
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Actually, Oloro's post brings to mind a few questions.
How do I roll? If I do the command prompt shown below (including the light blue text) does that do it?
Actually, I'm just gonna test it out.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Bastard Sword: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Ohhh, of course I would waste a good damage roll. Ok final test.
Attack and Damage: 1d20 + 61d10 + 6 ⇒ (6) + (6, 8, 6, 4, 7, 3, 3, 6, 5, 5, 9, 7, 6, 10, 2, 4, 4, 6, 8, 3, 5, 2, 9, 6, 10, 3, 3, 1, 10, 2, 8, 8, 1, 9, 2, 3, 2, 9, 3, 6, 1, 7, 8, 4, 9, 6, 4, 7, 5, 10, 1, 7, 10, 2, 2, 10, 9, 10, 10, 4, 10) + 6 = 362
Well, that happened.... seems I'll be doing things separately from now on.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
... still, this is so much easier than programing, or even rigging...
Ohhhh. I think I know how you did that Azalea (note, I'm referring to the post below this one, THIS is an edit). Multiple Dice Test: 1d4 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + (5) + 3 = 9
Azalea Bramson |
Hm. That reminds me I meant to try something. Test: 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (4) + (2) = 6
Also, advice: Editing or previewing your post doesn't change the value of your dice, so you can make a post up to a crucial dice roll, preview it to see what the dice is, and make the rest of the post in consequence. For example:
---
Bob takes a swing with his sword, grinning confidently as his blade quickly approaches the goblin's neck. (added after I already knew the dice roll.)
Sword attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
---
Since you know that the roll looks good or not, you can color the action accordingly, giving a more harmonious feel to the roleplay.
Godfri the Misbegotten |
Oh that's a good tip. And it wont change at all? So you'll know if you should be sad or happy with your "follow through"
I like this, I'm glad we had this talk.
PS I'm a fan of everyone's first posts so far. I know its really early to tell, but our character introductions do seem quite telling in how we relate to the town.

Indeed. Although the writer in me is kicking himself for saying attempting twice in one sentence. Live and learn to proofread I guess...
Godfri the Misbegotten |
haha sweet. that's way awesome
Although the writer in me is kicking himself for saying attempting twice in one sentence.
I feel you... in your very quote of mine, I said tell and then telling in the same sentence. I felt the same shame once I noticed haha.
