Nefertiti Abdul |

Well, at least we have closure. What would you all like to do?

Zemwaar |

I've been wanting to flex my GM muscles for some time now, but the open ended nature of the game we are planning here may be too much to get me started back on that track.
I am currently on other games that deserve my attention - some are being led by great GMs, and others still add on to that a very good group of players. I want to make sure they get the attention they deserve.
That being said, things can come to a point where I could consider tackling this one one step at a time, with localized plots, but right now I cannot guarantee it, so I will not commit to something I am not sure I will be able to follow through.
It pains me to see what we were building here all come to naught, but that is about as honest as I can be.

Nefertiti Abdul |

At least one of the plot adventures that came with bundle involved exploring the island's interior. (At least, according to the book's blurb.) On the surface, that would appear to be a perfect mission for our merry little band. I haven't read anything else to see if it's more detailed than that.
If it is well-fleshed out, does one of us want to try running it?
I can see that I am going to have to get that file open and look at it more thoroughly. It won't open on my iPad 2 -- My guess is that I didn't have the storage / free space to accomodate the book's size.
I also am nervous about the idea of GMing a pbp. I have GMed but not in this format. I don't know if I have the skills to do this by myself.
On the other hand, I do know that I would love to play with you guys. You have all been simply awesome so far, and I was really looking forward to getting to know you and your characters.
Nef

Oren Mitabu |

If one of you brave souls would be willing to DM, I'd certainly enjoy playing. Everything Frog God Games does is amazing with Razor Coast being no exception!

![]() |

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you want to improvise Razor Coast, and if you are willing to play second fiddle, we can fly by the seat of our pants until we die a proper flaming glorious death.
There may be a volcano or two involved. It won't be from the book, and I offer zero guarantees for quality on that one.
Barakus might be able to take you. But I gotta poll my gang first for any submissions.
Another option which might be fun - I have been planning to run a Jade Regent Campaign for a while. 15 point buy, but your characters would be welcome.
Or we wait. Waiting is easy. Sometimes I rather like waiting.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Was that an offer to come in as GM for this campaign, Trux?
If so... I'll take it.
I was also looking at Barakus, but it sounds like you now have a former player that wants to come back.
I know nothing about Jade Regent. Is its setting asian? (Yeah, I'm a librarian. I can look it up.) Nef would not work on 15 point buy, at least not as a channeler, but I could come in with something else.
I just don't want to spread myself too thin with campaigns.
Hmm

Oren Mitabu |

I agree with Nef that if trux wants to run this sucker, I'm all in!
Jade Regent has a bit of a Asian flair to it. That is as far as I recall the only AP that I haven't played at least some of it. I'd be up for that, if that is what trux would prefer.
Basically, if someone is nice enough to run a game for me, I'll play whatever they prefer to run!

Nefertiti Abdul |

I'm also willing to take a stab at cooperative GMing -- trading off the GM hat -- so no one of us has to sign up for the whole burden.

![]() |

With the rich amount of classes and character in Razor, we could probably run adventurers several different directions. I could GM a quick high adventure gig.
I'm thinking indiana jones crossed with our popular native themes.
The more the merrier, is what I believe. Since pbp tends to go for years at a time, fresh blood is always nice.
I'm on my phone or I'd link in info on jade regent. You know sandpoint, right?
Jade Regent is a Paizo AP where you go on a grand journey over the roof of golarion.
But like many things, it all starts with blood, fireworks, and govlins in the swamp.
You could call it the sequel to We Be Goblins

Oren Mitabu |

If there are open spots in Jade Regent, I'd be happy to take one, trux. Link the thread and I'd love to get in.
Now, in the kickstarter at least, there were several adventures provided for Razor Coast. I think the standalone volume called Heart of the Razor had four separate adventures, at least two of them were 5th level as I recall. Did any of you get a copy of this in your bundle? If so, maybe we could pick and choose from them, until someone decides if they have the time for the full immersion in Razor Coast proper.

Nefertiti Abdul |

No thread yet Oren, but soon. Let me reach out to the monk friend and make sure where Hmm wants to be.
If we end up sharing the Razor, then I won't have time to run it properly.
1st choice:
Razor -- we've built the characters and their relationships. I'd love to get a chance to play them.2nd choice:
Jade Regent could be quite fun with this team of players. I really like the idea of playing with you guys... It's saying something that the GM has disappeared on us, and we're all still here trying to make this work. I think it's clear that I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I'm willing to switch over if that is what the team wants. It would have to be a different character. It could still be a cleric (if that's what people would like me to have), but I can't afford the stats of a hangover cleric on 15 point buy.
I did not purchase the bundle, only Freebooter Guide
Oh, but I bought the whole bundle. And I would happily send you a link, or find some other way to gift my GM with an electronic copy.

Zemwaar |

Another option which might be fun - I have been planning to run a Jade Regent Campaign for a while. 15 point buy, but your characters would be welcome.
I usually have a hard time refusing a game when I know the GM is a good one, so I am most definitely up for a Jade Regent game - I'll admit up front I don't like 15 point builds but I've never played Jade Regent so it would be a good opportunity to do it with good people.
As far as the Razor goes, I am obviously in, but as I said I cannot commit to GMing right now. I will probably be able to in the future, but cannot guarantee it. So those are my two cents. The thing is, what we should really do is find a good GM willing to run it for us, since what we have got going here seems to be a good team of players who have put some thought into their characters, and would be a shame to break that up ;)

Rata Fenn |

I an interested in the jade regent, but 15 point buy has me hesitant. I prefer to play builds a tad outside the norm, and they usually require above average stats and/or an abundance of feats. I'd probably switch to an archer build since that is a playstyle I enjoy and I feel is feasible at all levels of play.

Nefertiti Abdul |

I don't know of any player that is fond of 15 point buy!
I've got a character with it in my pbp We Be Goblins game, and it's worked okay so far because everyone is on it. And because part of the humor of the game lies in how pathetic we all are.
I admit that I prefer higher point buys, but there are some options that still work on low point buy.
Zemwaar, do you have an idea of where to find such a GM? Is there a way to advertise for five players (six, if Camris comes back in) seeking a GM? It seems like recruitment is mostly for players rather than the other way around.
I'd want it to be someone who is as committed to the story and setting as we are. I'm guessing that many of the experienced PbP GMs are already committed.
But if we could find one, yes, I would love it.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Trux,
I am putting the Razor Coast books in a folder on Google drive if you'd like to see them. I'll pm you my email.
Hmm

Nefertiti Abdul |

Then imagine all you want!
I'll enjoy whatever you improvise.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Wot I've got so far.
"The council meeting came to a close, but only after the hatred in the room had spilled over. More of these strange foreigners and their petty squabbles. More of their rape and division and clawing one another for plunder. The sacred places hidden away in jungle, the small waters, everything that had once been sacred was now a thing to be had. How their gods had poured so much bile into them, he would never understand.
The event left Elder Nakuakaua at ill-ease. For the man from the cartographer's guild let slip mention of the Aio Kan'ake, the shadow thorn. Troubling indeed, that word of the dark totem was spoken of among the invaders. Moreso, that this was the first he had heard it spoken of since he was a child.
The Elder had hoped his sources to be more thorough. If he hoped to get any older, he would need to avoid such surprises in the tomorrows to come. If the society went after the tale, they would find the black thing at the heart of it.
Fools.
Dangerous,
incorrigible,
and hopefully soon to be dead."
If there is demand for Heart.of.the.Razor-actual, I'll need to pull it and give it a week of study.

Nefertiti Abdul |

This sounds like serious fun. Of course I'm up for it. Will Aikane be able to travel with us?

Oren Mitabu |

Sounds groovy!

Zemwaar |

I like it already ;)
But the question imposes itself - are you enjoying the prospect trux? And feeling up to this? I'd rather have no GM, than one that felt his/her hand was 'forced' somehow. What say you? :D

Nefertiti Abdul |

Agreed. I don't want to burn you out, either.

![]() |

Gang I'm going to slide this onto the back burner for potential future campaigns.
I'm not reading as much interest in this as other corners.
Re: Rata and Camris. On top of that, Hmm & Albion/ Zemwaar are already in an autro game which demands my attention.
Life willing, I hope to spin up Brinewall Legacy some time in March.
Oren, you and my monk friend will be at the top of the recruiting list. I'll send you a PM when I know more.

Nefertiti Abdul |

I have a HUGE interest in this one, Trux. Of all the campaigns I'm in, this is the one that most interests me for the combination of characters and story.
But I understand if it needs to wait on the backburner until one of us is ready to GM it.
Hugs,
Hmm

Oren Mitabu |

I'm up for anything, DM. Just let me know.
If anyone else thinks they want to get a Razor Coast campaign fired up, please let me know. I'd love to give that a run.

Zemwaar |

A perfectly understandable decision trux. Thanks for having considered the possibility. If anyone else wants to step up to the GM plate, I am game (and am sure trux would also be), but as I said before, I cannot GM this one myself for the time being.
Hmm, you are extremely articulate - perhaps coming up with a catchy recruitment post looking for a GM? We turn the table around, and actually recruit them instead of them recruiting the players? :D

Nefertiti Abdul |

Zemwaar --
I've spent some time thinking about this, and yes... I want to do this. However, if we're going to be serious about this, that means that we all have to dress up for the interview first.
Zem and I were working on some joint back story before Nohwear disappeared. We should each write up our own side of it so that it is on our character sheets, along with goals and motivations.
Everyone else should check to see if they have good strong backstories, too. This goes double for Camris... Camris, if you want to be in, we'll need to see that character writeup and backstory.
If we're going to market the team, we need to look good.
By the way... Roll call.
Everyone, let me know that you're still here and that you want to do this. I don't want to craft my enticing, "Be our GM!" pitch unless we're all agreed that this is the plan.
Yours,
Nef

Oren Mitabu |

Nef, thank you so much. I've been secretly hoping you might consider this. An enthusiastic GM is key to a strong campaign. I'd love to be considered for a spot.
Tell us what you want from is. More detailed back stories? A different starting level or point buy? I'm game for anything that makes it work for you!

Nefertiti Abdul |

Hmm, you are extremely articulate - perhaps coming up with a catchy recruitment post looking for a GM? We turn the table around, and actually recruit them instead of them recruiting the players? :D
Oren, to be clear... I'm volunteering to lead the marketing to recruit a new GM.
I am not *yet* volunteering to be a GM, though I have to admit that if anyone in the party would make a good GM npc, it would be Nef!
I actually want to play with this team of characters. All of you. I think we're an interesting enough team that we could attract a GM.

Oren Mitabu |

Lol, that's what I get for checking the thread from work...I completely missed the point! While I still feel you'd be a great DM, Nef, I think you'd be a kickass recruiter, too. If you make a thread and link it here, I'm sure the rest of us would be happy to help with it.

Nefertiti Abdul |

So all we need now is Aikane and Camris in his spanking new identity for the check in to be complete.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Okay, that's all of us. I'll finish dressing up Nef by filling in the detailed backstory that Zem and I concocted together.
Then I'll start putting together my pitch. Thank you, gentlemen!
Hmm

Wedjat |

"Screeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
All of us? What am I, chopped rabbit? Mmmm.... Chopped rabbit.
Wedjat pokes his head in Zemwaar's bag, looking for the rabbit he'd been promised earlier.

Zemwaar |

I actually had the opportunity to have an eagle perching on my arm, during a visit to a Christmas town in the last holidays season - they are impressive and cool as can be.
Zemwaar allows Wedjat to peek inside his bag - "We had agreed that tearing apart a rabbit on the ship's deck might be too much, did we not?" - he asks, with a slight jest to his tone.

Zemwaar |

Added some starting notes to Zemwaar's profile - to give a look and feel of how I see the character. More to come as I find time for it ;)

Nefertiti Abdul |

Wow. That's a gorgeous start. I still need to write up Nef's full story. The beginning is there, but not the part after she met you.
Edited to add: What is it with me and dead gods?
_________________________________________
Tomorrow I should have the other part of Nef's story done, and then start working on the marketing pitch. I'll run it past you guys here before starting the recruitment thread.

Rata Fenn |

I'm considering rebuilding Rata as an archer. I've pitched the slayer/rogue build in another game and it might get picked up. It shouldn't change much and honestly I think the group would benefit from him not clogging up the front lines.
I'll work on it tomorrow as we are abysmally slow at the office.

Nefertiti Abdul |

An archer could be useful! I started building the backstory in google docs today, but it is abysmally long and detailed. I need to cut it to make it more pithy.
I also started working on an outline of the pitch, but did not finish it yet.
So what has been happening with all of you? Anything good?

Zemwaar |

Been there Nefertiti ;)
Long day at work today, and even longer week. Fortunately the red wine and fireplace are kicking in, and the youngest seems to have finally fallen asleep.
Had planned to add some to Zemwaar's background, but haven't managed yet - maybe later on, if I don't crash completely.

Oren Mitabu |

Nothing new. Tonight is Bloody Mary night. I've only got to work a half day tomorrow, so I'm going to hang out a bit this evening.
