I don't know if there is anything we can figure out about the fountain. grasping at straws. I don't remember if all the relevant knowledge checks and magic detection have already been done. We started this encounter quite a while ago :)

After backreading a tad, didn't really came across much - maybe this isn't supposed to stop...?
"whoever the statue is.. I think it is safe to say that he is was a force for good... I'm no expert in these matters but I think it is worth taking the time to clean the statue and remove that abomination of a necklace. What say you? "Heck, I don't know what to do lads - I don't think I have the power to consecrate this here temple, or whatever it once was..." - the dwarf grumbles - "Lemme start by cleaning this here" - he adds, picking up the necklace with the tip of his spear and throwing it away - "That's nasty business, and definitely connected to the zombies we have met before"
Then he begins using his divine powers to create water, and a rag to start trying to scrub the statue of the benevolent-looking figure wearing white-painted robes.
