Male Elf Wizard 20

+1 Light Mithril Steel Shield of Bashing - 5009gp
+1 Armor (+6AC, 4 max dex, -1 ACP, Medium armor) - 1050gp
+2 Tulwar (Scimitar for in game purposes.) - 8015gp
+2 Studded Leather armor - 4025gp
+2 Falchion - 8075gp
+1 Armored Kilt - 1020gp
Masterwork Scorpion Whip - 305gp
+3 Earthbreaker - 18040gp
Ring of Protection +2 - 8000gp
Amulet of Natural Armor +2 - 8000gp
Cloak of Resistance +3 - 9000gp
Belt of Dex & Con +2 - 10000gp

Total Value = 80539gp

So, first things first, what do we want to keep and what do we want to sell? I have no interest in anything besides the Ring, Amulet, and Cloak.

I think I listed what I am interested in my OOC comment in Gameplay.

Are we sure we can simply sell what we don't want? I mean, this place is in really bad shape.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Well not here, clearly, but I'm sure we can find a buyer if we get out of this mess alive.

So far the Tulwar and the belt are the only other items wanting to be claimed, what else should I take off the sell list?

The belt of course ;)

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

well i could use:

the ring of protection
the belt.

quick question how do you handle items given to party member ? do they have to be bought from the party using gp or just given?

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

I have a belt of dexterity already, so if either of you are just looking for the extra DEX I can trade you, since it seem to be team muscle. The cloak would be nice, but I'm not desperate. Other than the studded leather I have none of the proficiencies for anything else.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Wall of text about loot:
Keep List
+2 Tulwar
Ring of Protection +2
Amulet of Natural Armor +2
Cloak of Resistance +3
Belt of Dex & Con +2

Want List:

Erianna
+2 Tulwar (uncontested)
Ring of Protection +2 (contested, upgrade)
Amulet of Natural Armor +2 (contested, upgrade)
Cloak of Resistance +3 (contested, upgrade)
Belt of Dex & Con +2 (contested)

Esther
Ring of Protection +2 (contested)
Belt of Dex & Con +2 (contested)

Erasmus
Belt of Dex & Con +2 (contested, upgrade)

Mortimer
Ring of Protection +2 (contested)
Amulet of Natural Armor +2 (contested)
Cloak of Resistance +3 (contested, upgrade)

My proposed solution
Erianna gets the Tulwar. Mortimer gets the Cloak of Resistance +3, gives his +2 cloak to Erianna, and Erianna gives her +1 cloak to Erasmus. Now Erasmus gives his +2 belt of dex to Esther and he gets the +2 belt of con/dex. Mortimer gets the Amulet of natural armor +2 and Esther gets the ring of protection +2.

Value of gear acquired

Erianna
+2 Tulwar=8025gp
Upgrade Cloak of Resistance from +1 to +2=4000-1000=3000
Total Gain=11025gp

Erasmus
Upgrade Belt from +2 dex to +2 con/dex=10000-4000=6000
Cloak of Resistance +1=1000
Total Gain=7000gp

Esther
Belt of Dex +2=4000
Ring of Protection +2=8000
Total Gain=12000gp

Mortimer
Upgrade Cloak of Resistance from +2 to +3=9000-4000=5000
Amulet of Natural Armor +2=8000
Total Gain=13000gp

Sell List
+1 Light Mithril Steel Shield of Bashing - 5009gp
+1 Armor (+6AC, 4 max dex, -1 ACP, Medium armor) - 1050gp
+2 Falchion - 8075gp
+1 Armored Kilt - 1020gp
Masterwork Scorpion Whip - 305gp
+3 Earthbreaker - 18040gp

Total Value=33500 (actual value is 33499, I rounded for simplicity)

DM, what is our selling rate?

If we assume the selling rate is 1/2 base price, then the total value of loot per person is 14943.75gp. That means if we sell all these items at half base price, Mortimer gets 1943.75gp, Erianna gets 3918.75gp, Esther gets 2943.75gp, and Erasmus gets 7943.75gp.

Thoughts?
Erasmus ended up with the short end of the stick here, but if we get to sell off the rest of the items we'll give him a bigger cut and all end up having the same amount of value for loot. Love to hear thoughts.

Belt is Dex and Con. Otherwise good break up Mortimer. I'll take a further look at it. On my phone at the moment :/

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

i don't need the amulet of natural armor as i usually have a barkskin on :)

so you can put it back in the list...

Male Elf Wizard 20

I'll take the amulet of natural armor and give you the ring of protection, pretty much the same thing, just a different kind of bonus.

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

works for me

If I'm gonna be facing the likes of Targ, I'm gonna need more AC ;)

Male Elf Wizard 20

You already have the highest AC of the entire party, plus the crane style feat tree (which is extremely powerful against melee attacks). One party member being invincible doesn't help if everybody else dies.

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

Yeah, Mortimer needs the AC boost more than anyone. I'm quite happy with this.

I seem to have a different perspective than yours regarding Wizard AC - as I see it, it is something he should never rely on, instead focusing on making sure he is not drawn into a melee or ranged combat - his full efforts being on making it as hard as possible for this to happen - for example, in our fight back with Targ, a mirror image spell would do for Mortimer what no ring of protection, or amulet of natural armor ever will. We can debate this further later on if you would like.

In any case, I was merely joking ;) I'm fine with the loot distribution. I'll see what else I can upgrade with my share of the gold.

Male Elf Wizard 20

I don't like having to rely on my AC either, but getting attacked happens if I want it to or not. With a AC 2 higher a few of those attacks would have missed me and I wouldn't have had to waste two rounds going on the defensive.

Yes I realize I didn't powergame Mortimer, I'm trying a new flavor of wizard.

Oh and just a note to all, despite my dry messages I'm rarely ever upset. I just don't believe in putting a lot of "lol"s or emoticons in my typing.

Shadow Lodge

Mortimer, are you upset? ;-)

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

do,'t worry Erianna i have the +2 Natural Armor bonus covered with barkskin spell :)

and mortimer can cast a mage armor for a huge +4 ac boost...

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

There's a difference between not depending on AC and ignoring it utterly.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Yes, and with my mage armor spell (which is a luxury to have cast) I'm still at 15, still a very poor number for level 7. Ideally I like to be a hundred feet above the fight and out of harms way, but in the last fight just a few more points to my AC would have done wonders.

*Deadpan*
Oh I am just seething.

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

or a mirror image or an improved invis for those time when you are in a closed environment and can't fly...

Male Elf Wizard 20

Well it sounds like 2 votes against me getting the amulet of natural armor. Should I re-adjust the loot breakdown I made? I'll just end up with a very large cut of the money and buy some upgrades.

Not at all Mortimer. I did not cast any vote against. As I said, I am fine with the loot distribution.

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

actually erianna and i are both in favor of you having that amulet...(and said so)

Male Elf Wizard 20

Apologies for the misunderstanding, I'm starting a new semester in school and have been busy running from one end of campus to the other getting everything organized. Ok current loot will stand, let's work on gathering some slaves and getting back to the boat.

Erianna, for consistently and without reminders, posting your augmented stats at the start of each round, you may choose to allocate 5 additional skill points (normal rank cap still applies) or the FENCER trait.

Thanks a lot GM DSP, I guess you read my mind because I am a sucker for skills in my characters :D Though gaining the Fencer trait would be really cool... Let me mull it over for a while, is that ok?

I have been pondering this one for a while now.

How many opportunities does one get to gain a trait bonus - it is really good, and it synergizes well with Crane Riposte.

However... I am an extreme sucker for skills, so I haven't made my mind completely yet :D

I'll call on my compaions for advice - what say you?

Male Elf Wizard 20

Idk, you would have to be more specific. I don't know the trait or the skills in question.

Well, the trait gives me +1 on attacks of opportunity, and the skill points can be distributed as long as they don't go above my ranks per level restriciton.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Trait bonuses are hard to compete with, stack with about everything. Unless you're in dire need of a new skill that we don't have I'd say go with the trait.

With crane riposte you certainly get a lot of AoOs too.

Not a LOT, but a few yes. It is just a matter of ponderig how valuable the +1 to attack is.

It might be the best option in the end, with all the stuff that eats at my to-hit numbers, like PA, Fighting Defensively, etc.

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

Though you could take the skills, drop some into linguistics and become a virtual omniglot, what with there only being five campaign-relevant languages and you knowing one of them as well as being party face.

Don't eve go there, I've got an obsession with skills. One can never have too many honestly.

Male Elf Wizard 20

I know every language. Every single one.

Shadow Lodge

You sure of that Mortimer? :)

Male Elf Wizard 20

Every single one you told me about. And I have leftover linguistics ranks.

Shadow Lodge

Right. You know all of the KNOWN languages, and you have the capacity to learn more. :)

Male Elf Wizard 20

Are there any I should know about? I have a few ranks in linguistics that are unused.

Shadow Lodge

Not sure which ones you already know. Your profile still shows Golarion Languages.

Then main ones are: common, Amerysi, Erenese, Isterothi, and Thelkonese.

How many more can you know?

Male Elf Wizard 20

I know: Common, Amerysi, Erenese, Isterothi, Thelkonese, Faremweni

I got those all as free bonus languages upon character creation. I have 7 ranks in linguistics that haven't gotten me any languages.

Shadow Lodge

Got it. Probably my fault, but it is FareNweni, FYI. :)

I will look at the map, think about it, and get back to you. I may end up refunding some skill points if needs be.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Man, Mortimer really is a dick. I'm getting in his head and he's approaching the situation almost inhumanely pragmatically. If like, the kraken comes to destroy our ship I'll throw some fireballs at it, but if the ship seems lost I'm going to grab as many party members as I can and just teleport the hell out of there. It's not even him being a coward, he's just a cold logic machine.

Wizards can be like that, they're just too intelligent is all :D

Male Elf Wizard 20

Well I play quite a wide array of wizards. I've played every kind of aligned wizard except LG and CE (I don't think a CN one either) but they usually all have human characteristics. Daina is passionate and protective of her friends, Tiasar is curious and talks too much for his own good, Ashtari is a nature lover and believes in the sanctity and freedom of life, but Mortimer is simply doing his job. When I run through his checklist, I have to actually include "Treat the slaves like human beings". Idk, it's just eerie to me.

Male Elf Wizard 20

A question for you DM. What would you say if I asked you about possibly converting Mortimer to one of the classes from the ACG playtest? The arcanist, to be specific.

Male Elf Wizard 20

I think Mortimer has mild symptoms of a sociopath. I really think I did well crafting this character...I'm going to have to get into his head more.

Edit: Or a psychopath

Shadow Lodge

Sorry, Mortimer, I'm not much for the advanced classes atm.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Understood, they're very experimental and still under scrutiny.

Shadow Lodge

Indeed :)
