To Change the Way of the World: A Better Valcia Begins Today (Inactive)

Game Master Darksmokepuncher

You are members of the Army of the Freeland of Amerys, a newly reformed country and the first to bring Democracy to Valcia. Your missions will involve the safety and protection of Amerys, the expansion of your lands through the conquest of or alliance with new territories, and the abolishment of slavery.

I mean that what enemies of our country is there

Shadow Lodge

Enchanted weapons are merely a descriptor of the level of craftsmanship. Your weapons and armor are only considered "magical" when they have an effect on them. These are fantastical pieces and are very rare. A +1 Longsword is simply a very finely made sword.

Enemies are common enough. No one really views Amerys as a friend but other from Amerys. They are disrupting the order of things. No one really likes that, but some are more accommodating than others.

Male Dwarf Fighter 4/ Ranger 3

I actually prefer the first option when concerning what dwarves are in this world enter a are only slightly shorter and have different abilities

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

Do the other countries all get along?

Shadow Lodge

There is no open war involving any country at this time. Amerys is known for disrupting the slave trade and is often met with hostility when they are met in any solid number.

That said, Thelkon has a population crisis. They are looking for more land...

Well I think im ready to start

Shadow Lodge

That makes two.

Harkwyn? Erasmus? Anything else you'd like to know?

Oh, I will give you this too:

Actions have consequences. This a world populated by real people. If you speak too boldly to the king, he may cut out your tongue. If you save a farmer's daughter from bandits, you might get to marry her. etc. Be mindful of the potential outcomes of your actions.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Oh do we already know each other? Or are we going to RP that? And has the party been informed that I'm a wizard?

Shadow Lodge

You all decide if you've met before.

Word of a wizard will travel VERY fast if there is evidence of one. Likely, most people will know what you are Mortimer: at the very least they may expect.

Male Elf Wizard 20

IMHO, I would like to RP the meeting of our characters. But it's up to the group

So anybody who doesn't live under a rock will know there's a wizard in the area, and between my looks and reputation a good number of them will recognize me on sight. This'll be fun lol

Shadow Lodge

They will at least suspect you on sight, yes.

Oh there will be blood alright!..FUN! I meant fun...

Shadow Lodge

I am posting to the game thread now. I will allow character knowledge questions through the end of the day. After that, knowledge will be gained "on table" as it were.

In the mean time, please role play for a bit and make your way to the ship within two hours or risk being late. You can speak to anyone and everyone you see. I cannot promise they will speak back though :)

Ingvar, standard procedure for in-character posts is to Bold dialogue, italicize internal monologue or telepathy, and leave narration plain. It makes it easier to read, just FYI.

Shadow Lodge

That is correct. Thanks for explaining.

Sorry I am on my phone its hard to get the Bolding all the time

Male Elf Wizard 20

Hey guys, I thought this game would be going a little faster. Are some of you busy right now?

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

I don't really know what to do right now, I'm waiting for you guys to get to the boat.

Shadow Lodge

I am really waiting for the Stonecasts and Mortimer to get to the boat. However, a roleplay bit popped up and introductions are happening. I've been waiting for Harkwyn to answer.

This is DEFINITELY a player driven campaign.

I have no less than 5 options available at all times. I try to make them known, but some are based on player initiative. You guys decide what's going on and I'll reveal the consequences.

Right now, there are two options: Go to the boat on time, or don't.

:)

Male Elf Wizard 20

Not to point fingers, but I think the Stonecast brothers need to check the forums more often. It seems like we're waiting on you guys to keep the campaign moving

Sorry guys my brother just started college back up and he says its been really hectic if you really want please just send us to the boat is more than fine

Male Elf Wizard 20

Oh I understand, I'm actually leaving for college tomorrow morning. Everybody on the board understands when real life things come up, just a heads up is nice. For now, is it ok if you speak for your brother as well (in game)?

Shadow Lodge

If you guys can just roleplay until the boat, there will be plenty to do :)

Male Goblin

super sorry about my absence guys, this first wek of being back at college really hit me with a curve ball. My classes are all over the place for timings. One day of the week I have to wake up at 6, be there by 8 till 11 go to work till 3 come back and then stay at college till 9 at night. It'll be fun to see how the rest of the semester goes. Posting now

Male Elf Wizard 20

So who is the person at the west end of the boat? Somebody very in charge looking I assume?

Shadow Lodge

Quite so!

Sorry, an appointment that was supposed to take an hour today ended up taking all day. Bureaucracy!

Male Dwarf Fighter 4/ Ranger 3

Why do I get the feeling the DM's next post heralds our imminent death?

Male Elf Wizard 20

Well if you guys can not die for just this next turn, I can drop some serious damage to a group of enemies that grouped up

Well I'll try my best not to die then :P Although if you don't drop them all, I can definitely cleave one or two of them.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Well I probably wont be able to hit every single one of them, the spell I have in mind is a 20ft cone

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

I suppose then that this is an inconvenient time to UNVEIL MY MASTER PLAN TO DOOM YOU ALL
Muahahahahahahahahaha.

Shadow Lodge

Erasmus, based on map positions, I had you attacking a different target. Both hits on you are still negated as offensive defense is not target specific. Good call!

However, please do add your ac, saves, and health to your paizo profile, please. If you could, add ac with and without offensive defense so I can adjudicate more easily. Thanks!

Mortimer, some barbarians can rage after becoming fatigued, and others have been known to ignore the effects of fatigue and exhaustion while raging. :)

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

I put my max HP, base saves, and base AC in the stat block. Thing about Offensive defense is that it varies, since it's the number of sneak attack dice rolled that round. This round it was +8, next round it will probably be +4. I'll toss it into the stat block at the end of all my combat posts. It'll looks osmething like this:

Vitals:
HP:30
AC:29 (+1 shield, +5 dex, +5 armor, +8 dodge (7 offensive defense, 1 dodge).
.

Does that work for you? In total offensive defense at this level is going to be either +4 or +8, so I could put them both, but that seems like it could get rather confusing and cluttered.

Eras I think offense defense only applies for total amount of sneak attack damage based on your character level not just on the dice thrown else it would be way overpowered I think the max you can receive is 4 since your sneak attack says 4d6 at your current level.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Ahhh barbarian. I forget those abilities of theirs. Hmm, well perhaps I'll just help mop up the little sailors for now, I'm running out of high damage spells and have no 'save or lose' will target spells

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

It says "die thrown", though there may be some errata on it that I am not aware of.

Shadow Lodge

I've always run it as the number of dice you roll as a sneak attack. I.E. if you get 4d6, your ac increases by +4.

However, I will research it and give a ruling asap.

Male Dwarf Fighter 4/ Ranger 3

Something I just realized I haven't been doing.

I have Favored Enemy human, so from now on i will ahve +2 to attack and damage versus these sailors. DM? thanks for the suggestion!

This also makes it clear to me I need to play more rangers....^^"

Shadow Lodge

Indeed!

Erasmus, It does appear to be rolled. Meaning if you hit twice, and both are sneak that would be +8 AC.

However, I want to look through errata when I get home, because that is an EXTREMELY powerful ability.

For now, play as written. I will keep you posted.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Some clarification

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

If you follow the links all the way down the rabbit hole in that discussion, basically it looks like the publishers are still arguing. I don't think it's totally broken, since it's limited by the rogue's ability to hit, but your call.

Male Elf Wizard 20

Well it's still some intelligent discussion, and somebody brings up a point that if you have a multiattacking rogue at higher levels you can easily get your AC into the 60's or 70's

Male Dwarf Fighter 4/ Ranger 3

In my own game i have a rogue who makes the same case. He says it means number if dice rolled but i tell him every time its only the max die of sneak attack available at that level. Its a really useful ability for sure even then but noo ther class has ab ability that levels or stacks like that. Id leave it to the dm call but every other ability in the game defends on level rather than just how many dice are rolled. A good example is power attack which only receives a certain bonus to damage based on levels. I usually stick between fighters cavalier rangers paladins and barbarians so i can't speak for all the other classes ib terms of abilities like Offensive Defensive. Other than monk. I fricking hate monks

Shadow Lodge

***** Official Ruling *****

Because Offensive Defense provides a dodge bonus, it will stack with all dodge bonuses from other sources.

It cannot stack with itself.

Sorry Erasmus, it is still a very good feat. If you'd like to discuss this further, please PM me.

Will post next round in a bit.

Male Human Rogue (swashbuckler) 7, HP 47/63, Fort/Ref/Will 6/11/3, AC 22 (+1 per sneak attack die)

So, tomorrow (Monday) I'm moving from California to Japan so I'm unsure of how much I'll be able to post for the next couple of days to a week. I know this is really s&%~ty timing what with the upcoming mission and all, feel free to move me as you see fit, my vitals are all on my character page or the myth weavers sheet I linked. Sorry to just mention it now.

Shadow Lodge

Wow! Grats man, that sounds like a great story is in there somewhere. No worries. I will play Erasmus as needed until you are back.

Shadow Lodge

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it already or not, but here goes:

1. I will roll perception checks for you when necessary, but I will never roll an active perception. If you want one, roll it.
2. I will never prompt a Knowledge check. Roll them at will.
3. I will almost never prompt a sense motive roll. If you don't believe someone, or want to know what they are like as a person, roll it.

***If you roll these and I do not respond, you can assume you failed or there is nothing to see/know/feel.

That is all :)
