DM Rickmeister |

The combined attack does not fail to miss its mark, as the last but one druid goes dow,.
The last druid lashes out, even as the megaliths pulsating energy is visibly shrinking.
Theor receives a smack of the staff, and everyone can clearly hear his neck break. He does not appear dead however, as you can still hear his body trying to suck in air, desperately.
D1 vs Theor: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
>> 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6, 4) + 4 = 20
PARTY UP!

DM Rickmeister |

Darius, weren't you affected? Maybe you can use the claws to double your chances of hitting, and double your chances of sneak attacking?
Also: Please declare where you are moving, since the last druid can still take an AOO against you.

![]() |

You're right - I totally forgot! But I need to do more than a 5' step to get in range, so can I make more than 1 attack? Also, I moved my token, I'll roll my Acrobatics here.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

DM Rickmeister |

No, because of the movement you cannot take two attacks, but in subsequent rounds you can :)

![]() |

Horatius growls to see another companion fall and steadfastly steps between the fallen man and the remaining druid.
I believe the cover from the spire will prevent an AOO in this case
Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2) + 4 = 8
Again the blade strikes true drawing blood.

DM Rickmeister |

Indeed, no AOO if you have at least partial cover to the assailant!
The druid struggles, but is still standing!

![]() |

I'll post my next action in case Kumari decides to heal Theor, or misses the druid. This assumes, of course, that I'm not killed! If he shrinks and I need to 5-foot step I will.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Sneak Attack dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1

DM Rickmeister |

Kumari casts a healing spell on Theor, and his wounds are closing rapidly.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

DM Rickmeister |

The last druid lashes out again, even as the megaliths pulsating energy is visibly shrinking.
Horatius is the unlucky receiver of the next blow of the staff, and everyone can clearly hear his skull fracture. He is still standing however, just as Theor is coming to.
At the same time Darius steps in and strikes the druid from behind, who starts sucking in the last breath he'll ever take.
"Zingar theros jungien!" he cries out as he goes down.
D1 vs Horatius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
>> dmg: 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) + 4 = 9
Combat over

![]() |

Apologies, I was tracking Horatius my posts instead of his stat line but neglected to add it to the last two. He was at 8 health so would be -1 right now. Oh and thank Erastil those chumps are down!

![]() |

Darius slumps to the ground as the adrenaline flows out of his body. He looks over the carnage at his three fallen allies and the four dead druids.
Light! What a mess! I can't believe we made it after all those creeps did to us!
He watches Kumari heal Theor and Horatius.
"Kumari, I was wounded, but I suspect that the threat is ended now. I'll just wait for my body to heal on its own. Thank you for your kindness in ministering to our fallen friends."

![]() |

Thanks Kumari
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Horatius's eyes snap open with the first application of Kumaris healing magics but it takes a second to knit the bones and begin to heal the worst of his internal injuries.
"My thanks Mistress Azar. The blessings of the Dawn Flower are most appreciated."
Looking about he picks up his sword as he rises and scans the area for friends and foes. "The threat is ended then. Theor...Bayani...are they?"[b] he asks before catching sight of Theor groggily getting his bearings and the elfs corpse laying motionless upon the ground. Bowing his head he says, [b]"I saw him fall but had hoped...He was a fine and honorable companion and will be missed."
Seeing no imminent threat the paladin walks over to Bayanis body and places it in as restful a position as he can before returning the maguses blade to his hands. "Kumari I do not know much of our friends faith but perhaps we might both offer him our gods blessings on his journey." He then takes a few moments to offer Erastils simple prayer for fallen defenders.
"Where is this cursed item that has cost men their humanity and our friend his life?" he asks when his prayer is complete.

DM Rickmeister |

Kumari, i also believe you have one healing pulse left, am I correct?Just a friendly reminder in case you forgot. :)
Perception if you are looking for *something* ;)

![]() |

It was all more fluff than crunch but that said...
K:Religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Rising from the somber task Horatius begins looking around the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

DM Rickmeister |

The Atavistic Splinter is still puldating with energy!
Although the megaliths are no longer throwing electrical surges across the "room".
Assuming you want to shut it "off", please tell me how you are going about it.

![]() |

Horatius's eyes are drawn to the artifact floating amongst the strings of eldritch power. Sheathing his own sword he reaches down and picks up one of the druids quarter staves before asking, "Mistress Azar do you have any knowledge of such magics? Perhaps your own talents might be of use in this Darius? If not I shall try the more direct approach."

![]() |

Darius looks at the splinter, and rub shis chin absently with one hand while gently licking his lips. He's obviously deep in though for a moment.
"Alright, stand back everyone. I'll try a bit of my "handiwork" on this object."
Darius approaches the splinter and tries to safely remove it.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

DM Rickmeister |

Reflex for Darius: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 > 2 electrical damage.
Darius succeeds in taking it out, but not without zapping his fingers a bit.
The electrical vibe in the room seems to be dissipating rather fast after this.

![]() |

"Well done my friend. Now let us begin our journey back to town."
Dropping the quaterstaff he lifts Bayanis body onto his shoulder and draws out his flail in his free hand.
Wouldn't be Horatius's first thought but if anyone wants to search the druids and the prior area it would probably make sense.

![]() |

"Thanks Horatius. It was quite a struggle. I won't soon forget our brave friend here who perished."
Darius will search the druids and the chests they came across before. When the party leaves the Henge proper he says:
"A moment, please. There is a small matter that I must attend to privately"

DM Rickmeister |

Darius, okay.
Horatius, okay.
Others want to do anything?

DM Rickmeister |

Unless anyone wants to do anything special, I'll assume you head back.

The voyage back to Absalom seems quicker than the journey North. Passing through familiar territory speeds things along but it is the quiet reflection on the recent flurry of events that truly makes the miles fly by. This was only the second mission for the Lodge that Horatius had undertaken but already he'd seen a good companion fall. He was grateful to Erastil that the rest were safe and that their mission was a success.
His first task, far in the frozen north, had tested his endurance by pitting his party against both the elements and dangerous foes but this mission had tested his very sense of self. Even as he considered the effects of the druids curse the paladin found his eyes drawn to his hands. Opening and closing them he remembered the hair and claws that so recently had sullied them.
"One last task." he thought. Down in the hold of the ship, carefully wrapped and protected by enchantments, was the body of their companion. Horatius would see him back to those of the Lantern Lodge who still remained with the Society so they might inter him properly.
Drawing a deep breath he then turned from the railing to join his new friends as they celebrated their success in one of the ships cabins. Truly Erastil must smile upon the sense of community and trust that arises when a group of individuals face strife together and end up as so much more.
