Jirelle investigates the workbench and cages, trying to deduce what mad experiments might have been run here.

There are no traps or hidden areas in these rooms. Other than the sacks of jewelry and goodies, notes, and gore, you find nothing but the cages. These cages are as described, and by looking at them, you have absolutely no clue as to their purpose. The notes are blood soaked and scrawled in an indecipherable script of foreign or alien origin. From the bits and pieces left over you can see the Visitant was performing experiments and dissections, but no clues remain as to why. The only goodies were if anyone searched through the jewelry.. which no one has. Within the bags and mixed with assorted odds and ends of value are a gem and some goggles that resonate magic.

If we were doing an actual campaign involving the town around Thornkeep, the cages give me an opportunity to add some flavor, but since we are not, they are unimportant. Besides... do you REALLY want to tinker with an extraplanar portal at this point?

Phew, just enough. Thanks Jirelle! Guys, I know you are mostly healed, but as we have charges to spare I strongly recommend that you heal fully. Given the difficulty of the first guy we encountered, we need to be maxed out before we fight anyone else, in my opinion.

On the advisement of the party medic, Karasuma will totally waste a charge from Yoon's wand for 1 hp to bring him back to full even though it will provide a minimum of 2hp

Also, we have no idea what they do, so activating them blindly could be exceedingly dangerous. All it would take is one Fireball let off in the middle of the party to ruin our day...

As for where next, you have four choices: one hallway on either side of the main hall, above alcoves 3 and 4; as well as the chamber on the other side of the bride room, and a small door opposite of the door leading into the main hall.

You're very welcome. The sad part is, I've been in a party where someone tried to do EXACTLY that. Thankfully they couldn't get it to work! Not on this character, though.

Rolando's servant opens the door to find... Nothing! The curved western wall of this room depicts a vast field of stars with such realism that one feels perched at the edge of an infinite gulf.

Karasuma takes out a copper coin and flings it into the darkness. Okay, so it's not a magic missile, but if there's a solid surface in the room theoretically it'd make some sort of noise hitting it. He's not risking the vastness of space, but if it is just clever painting he'll be game to poke further...
