Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.

Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception
Sense Motive.

if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.

Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.

Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...

Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it! The most importat part is: You are villains. Villains are smart, resourceful and have style! Have you ever seen a memorable villain that could just swing his sword and do nothing more?

Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).

Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."

Aravashial considers the note and says "Areelu Vorlesh is the name of the demon responsible for opening the worlwound...Nahyndrian crystal are said to be the crystallized fragments of a murdered demon lord’s life force, though what use such an object could be put to is unknown. We have only heard rumors of their existence so far. I fear that they're tied to something far worse than what’s already happened to Kenabres."

Orlando bows. "I will leave this to you for further analysis." He grins. "We have a library to rescue!" He withdraws and goes to his temporary bunk.

Next morning he makes sure everyone has rested, rearmed and reprovisioned, then leads the march to the Library.

After sharing the information with the authorities, Raven hits the sack for some much-needed rest. She awakes in the morning and hands out the bags of coins from loot sale to the others.

She packs up her camp, and makes ready to join Orlando and the others for the attack on the library.

Varn spends much of his night consulting with Aravashial on the subject of the Riftwardens, trying to learn more about the group and perhaps even try to learn more about his parents.

The next morning Varn rises early to memorize his spells from his spellbook, he also conducts some research into the magical darkness many of their foes seem to a penchant for using... Would Varn be able to determine that Darkness can be countered by an Everburning Torch?

After conducting his business, he joins his comrades as they prepare for their assault upon the library. "I am prepared for our venture to the library. I promise to be of more use this day."

Varn is aware of that yes. For the time being Selka will remain behind at the defenders heart helping tend the wounded there.

There were several skirmishes with demons during the night, I have asked Selka to remain here and help tend the wounded. I will accompany you to the library myself.

I wrote this big long post yesterday and when I tried to post it told me the site was down -_-. Going to give you the short version since I'm working in 10 minutes.

You leave The defenders heart and head south towards the library. Along the way some of you (Raven , Orlando and Varn) notice your being followed a a group of cultist. Three follow from behind with more on each side of the group.

Aeron scratches at a cheek, "Anyone know this part of town well? Is there any place we could lure them into an ambush? I would hate to have them scatter at the first sign of trouble."

I've lost count on how many posts these forums have ate from me... They always seem to be lurking, waiting for exactly the one I do NOT copy, to do that ;)

Tessai raises an eyebrow at the details passed on by Raven, and nods at Aeron - "Maybe I can lead us to such a place"

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Idea is finding a corner, alley, or similar feature, that will put us out of their sight, making it so that we can quickly set up and wait for them.

You turn and head towards the closest alley with the cultist not far behind.

You enter the alley and the cultist move to the entrance to trap you.

A large orc in armor reveals himself and you hear a gasp of surprise from Irabeth. "Vagorg? But you died! Who would want to bring you back?" she says

"Foolish woman, I fell of a cliff. You just assumed I was dead! No I survived and was found by Numerians who brought me their city were I was forced to fight as a gladiator nearly everyday for two whole years before I managed to escape! Since then I have dedicated myself to getting my revenge on you and that wretched Anivia. I tought I would be forced to find a way into the hear to get to you but it seems I got lucky and managed to catch you with a small escort." He turns to the cultist gathered around him and shouts "KILL THEM ALL BUT LEAVE THE GREEN SKINNED B~~#~ FOR ME" says Vagorg.

The cultist get ready to charge while the orc leader stays back.

"Apologies friends it seems this attack is because of me. Please distract the thugs while I go for the leader." says Irabeth

Varn curses as they are suddenly trapped within the alley, he turns just as an orc and several cultists complete the trap. He immediately begins the whispering of a spell while the orc rambles on and on. Just as the cultists prepare to charge he cups his hands and blows into them. When he opens his hands, a tiny dragon made of inky sparks spreads its wings and begins to flap it wings. The dragon takes a wandering path towards the nearest cultist, exploding with a loud bang and showering the cultist with black sparks!

Fire Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

While the dragon makes its approach, Varn takes several steps backwards behind Tessai. "He's all yours, Irabeth."

Snapdragon Fireworks upon cultist #5. He/She needs to make a Ref Save DC 15 for half damage and to negate a Dazzled condition.

Are we missing anyone's actions?

Was missing Raven. Raven you can post your action whenever you come around otherwise I will bot you.

Irabeth init : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Irabeth draws her sword and moves to the side of the alley preparing herself to strike when they approach.

cultist 5 reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Cultist 1 and 2 charges Irabeth who takes a swing at number 1 as he approaches giving a severe wound.

Irabeth readied attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 181d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Cultist 5 charges Varn but being partially blinded he misses.
cultist 5 attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 252d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 = 10

Vagorg cast a spell and fires a brilliant ray of energy at Irabeth! It leaves a burn on her shoulder but could have been much worst.

ranged touch confirm crit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 244d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 4) = 13

you can all go now.

DireMerc, the description of the action looks kinda... Off, according to the dice rolls you presented :D

Examples:

The cultist swing at her trying to get past her defense, number 1 manages to stab her with his scythe but she avoids the second blow.
cultist 1 attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8
cultist 2 attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5

Irabeth avoids the 26 to hit, but eats the 14? :D

Cultist 3 and 4 charge Aeron and one manages to land a hit.
cultist 3 attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6
cultist 4 attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10

Aeron's AC is 20, right? Shouldn't these have missed?

Also, do we have an updated map? I am under the impression all of the cultists are using reach weapons, but I am not sure.

When I checked the preview the rolls showed as something totally different from what is shows now.

We will go wit this version:

Irabeth took a hit from a cultist for 8 damage.

Aeron took a hit from a cultist for 6 damage

Varn was missed.

Irabeth got hit with the scorching Ray for 8 damage.

And I forgot to mention this before bu cultist 7 will cast bane so roll will saves dc 13. If you fail you get a -1 on attack rolls for 1 minute.

Attack vs #4: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 - 1 = 23
Damage: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (5, 3) + 13 = 21

Varn nods grimly as his companions make quick work of several cultists. He then spots one of the cultists appearing to be on his last leg, he quickly conjures his last inky firework dragon and sends it flitting over the battlefield to explode in the cultist's face!

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Ref save DC 15 for half-damage...er... well, or not... but save to avoid Dazzled! lol On #6 of course.

Varn quickly follows up the dragon with a freezing ray, zipping between his companions to strike the cultist full in the chest! "To Hell with you!"

Ray of Frost: 1d20 + 4 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 4 - 4 = 12
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Holy crap, I can't believe that actually hit! So, Move action to use my last bit of Snapdragon Fireworks, and Standard Action to hit #6 with Ray of Frost.

The ray of frost finishes off Number 6 who goes down.

"Assist Irabeth, and take that cur down!" - Tessai urges her companions, then turns to one of the cultists attacking Aeron - "Now us!" - swinging Radiance in a wide arc with both hands.

Vagorg steps back and strike out with another burning ray of fire.
touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 114d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 3) = 11

Irabeth sidesteps the attack avoiding it this time.

"Your sorcery is stronger but still no match for my blade Vagorg" says Irabeth.

The remaining two cultist hesitate their moral nearly broken but they continue their attack trying to buy as much time as they can for their leader.

Number 2 attacks Tessai and misses.

Round 4________________

With his opponent dispatched, Orlando flicked the blood off of his blade and charged 30' towards the enemy leader. He cautiously stopped just at the edge of the half-orc's weapon envelope and assumed a total defensive stance (AC24).
He studied the enemy carefully, as working his way inside the enemy's reach would require a little finesse...

Aeron, I think we will be missing Selka's healing soon...

Tessai swings her weapon in an arc at the last cultist - "Stand down!" - she shouts at him - "Feel Radiance's power!" - hoping her backswing will take him down, as she steps forward.

I guess #7 was pummeled by Aeron? :D Tessai shifts one step forward, attacking #2 as she moves

Radiance Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Dang, my rolls...

Missing Varn and Raven.

One cultist and the Orc remain.

Going to bot them.

Varn uses ray of frost on the remaining cultist
Ray of frost: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (20) - 4 = 161d3 ⇒ 1

Raven nock another arrow and shoots at the cultist
Longbow, PBS, bane: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 - 1 = 151d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Irabeth moves up and takes another swing at the orc chief.
attack,smite: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 191d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

This time she slashes into his chest leaving a bloody gash.

The orc chief howls in frustration "THIS ISN'T OVER!" and casting defensibly he becomes invisible.

casting defensibly: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

The last cultist takes one last desperate swing. "Join me in oblivion!"
attack on tessai: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 272d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10
confirm critical on tessai: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
