Lastly, can we keep track of how many days of downtime we have? I'll be utilizing those days to stock up charges on wands and staves. I can burn 1 MP per day to recharge 1d10+3 charges per day.

DireMerc |

Well right now you get about a week or so.
The troops are cleaning up Drezen and collecting all kinds of gear and valuable documents of information.
You also get into contact with the main force of the Mendevian crusade. The queen orders you to Secure Drezen and hold your position she would like to try and hold the keep and reclaim it. She is sending you troops as reinforcements and additional supplies. The first group of which arrives soon later by a magical gateway and with them is none other than Horgus Gwerm.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

1 week isn't much time to craft. Okay, we will need to come to a consensus which item Varn can craft for the group.
Also...
Wand/Staff Refill: 7d10 + 21 ⇒ (5, 2, 8, 7, 8, 7, 3) + 21 = 61
Going to use 39 of that to completely fill my Wand of Dimension Door. Anyone else have some wands that need filling? Otherwise I'll toss them onto my Mage Armor.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

Thank you for reminding me, Aeron. Varn would definitely be spending another portion of his time examining and studying that forge!

Also medals! You get medals.
For your actions in the field you are each awarded the medal of righteous clarity (awarded to crusaders who discover important intel for the crusade) This medal grants a +2 sacred bonus on saves vs insanity and confusion effects and as a swift action can give you +2 intelligence for 1 minute.
You are also all granted the righteous medal of command awarded to all who aid those who have fallen to the dark return to the light and redeem themselves. This medal grants a +2 sacred bonus on saves againts mind controlling and emotion based effects (any form of charm mind control or fear effect) and can also as a swift action grant +2 charisma for 1 minute.
Aeron alone will receive the righteous medal of Agility granted to any crusader that deliver a death blow to the a demon in a single blow before that demon acted in combat. It grants a +1 bonus to initiative and as a swift action can grant +2 dexterity for 1 minute.
Nobody earns the medal of spirit which is granted to someone who becomes possessed and breaks free of the control by re-rolling a will save.
Aeron will also receive the righteous medal of Valor granted to any who strikes down a particularly powerful demon (cr of the demon must be at least 2 higher than the level of the person that strikes it down) it grants a +2 bonus to CMB and CMD and can as a swift action grant +2 strength for 1 minute.
The righteous medal of vigor I don't think anyone earned it. It's given to someone who was reduced to negative hit-points in combat and then was healed (or revived) and then rejoined the battle.

DireMerc |

As for the forge the process to turn it into a good forge is to cast dispel evil followed by dispel chaos within an hour of each other and then you need to cast hallow on the forge once a day for at least 3 days in a row. After casting Hallow each day you must then make a dc 35 knowledge religion or spellcraft check or the hallow for that day doesn't work and you need to do it an additional day until you succeeded 3 times. Having Johan to assist you grants a +10 bonus on the knowledge roll at the end of the day but he can no longer cast spells since he lost his faith in his god.
Once that is done then yes soulshear could be turned (the person reforging it it would need to cast dispel evil on the weapon and then cast planar binding) this will replace the soul in the weapon from a babau demon to a hound archon. (actually what you need is someone with craft magical arms and armour and someone able to cast the spells need not be the same person)
it would then be a +2 transformative glaive that can summon 1d3 hound archons once per day and cast detect evil and discern lies at will.
This is unknown to you but the weapon can currently summon 1d3 babau demons once per day. The weapon actually does so every night and sends them out to attack people in camp hoping to cause as many deaths as possible. If it learns of your plans to reforge it then it tries to escape by having a babau carry it away which will likely fail as the banner will prevent it from teleporting away.

Thad went negative and then his contingent channel brought him back up. Does that qualify?

With mythic points Tzad can cast all three of those spells. If he is the caster of Hallow does he need to be the one who makes the knowledge Religion or spellcraft check? Or can someone else make those rolls.
He can get +1 to his roll from the medal of righteous clarity. And another +1 from guidance. Any other ways to get bonuses? With those two buffs his Knowledge Religion will be +14. So that is exactly 50/50. Are there bard spells that could help?

Aeron Stillwaters |

Wooo medals!!
@DireMerc: Medals are 1/day, I presume?
RE: Forge: Meh, I'm not sure it is worth it at the moment. Seem like a lot of work for a +2 weapon. I can't envision a time where's I'll ever summon the archons.

Tzad has a down week. Let's let him try. Pretty thematic to fix the forge even if we do not reforge your weapon. Also the archons can buff us and protect stuff. They can teleport too. Could be cool to have around for messengers. Let's see if we can fix it.

![]() |

Feeling compelled to cleanse the forge Tzadkiel spends his week casting the appropriate spells.
Day 1 Hallow: 1d20 + 10 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 14 = 27
Day 1 Hallow: 1d20 + 10 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 14 = 30
Day 1 Hallow: 1d20 + 10 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 14 = 30
Day 1 Hallow: 1d20 + 10 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 14 = 28
Day 1 Hallow: 1d20 + 10 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 14 = 37
Day 1 Hallow: 1d20 + 10 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 10 + 14 = 36
Day 1 Hallow: 1d20 + 10 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 14 = 41
So it takes him all 7 days to cleanse the forge and it cost him 7000.00 gp in spell components to do so. But in the end taint is removed from this artifact.

We need to recalculate loot with our new found 60% sell price. Not a bad bump. :)
So it looks like we will be here trying to hold the keep for a while? Do we need to plan its defenses? I can not cast every cleric spell of 5th level or lower so I am sure I can manage sone long term defenses.

Aeron Stillwaters |

Can people take a look at the loot list and decide if there is anything else on there that they are interested in. I would like to start the sell off.
@DireMerc: Can we just pay the upgrade cast for items or do we have to sell the old and buy a new one?

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

The only things that Varn would like to keep are the books that provide the bonus to Knowledge: Planes checks. I think those just stay in the library area that Varn plans on taking over and his new abode.
I already have a Headband of Vast Intellect, so we can sell off the one on there unless someone else would like it. I wouldn't mind boosting my own headband a little if the funds are available.

Tessai Saradesh |

There's nothing on the list Tess needs. She could use a Str/Con belt, depending on how much we can liquidate our loot into.
The Deathless armor enchantment could be useful for the melee PCs, too- basically Negative Energy DR 10 and 25% chance to ignore negative levels.

![]() |

Tzad spends 7K of that on his castings of Hallow to cleanse the forge.
He will spend some of the rest to upgrade his cloak of Protection from +1 to +3. Saves are important. That leaves him 10K. Any ideas? What does he need to do his job better? Hmm. Could take a ring that grands another revelation. Would like Energy Body (Elemental advantages means no sneak attack and immune to crits!) and Safe Curing means no AOO while casting a cure spell, but I already can cast touch heals with reach. Ohhh, look at Spirit Boost. If my healing gets up above your max you keep these extra points as temps for my level in rounds. Any of these worth a 10K Ring?

Tessai Saradesh |

I'm thinking of getting Air Walk enchanted on Tess's armor. Assuming we have a friendly 7th level cleric or druid who isn't spending the week cleansing the forge, I think the cheapest I can get away with is 21,000 gp to make it a 50 charge item that can get recharged as necessary (7th lvl caster x 4th level spell x 750 gp).
Winged Boots would be cheaper (16k) but then she'd have to start investing in the Fly skill. Then again, she's not really using her skills for much right now.
Any other thoughts on getting a cheap way to get Tess to flying or otherwise un-melee-able bad guys?

![]() |

I'd go with the boots. You get some fly skill from the spell. Its a standard to activate either I guess.
You should also up your shield to at least +1. +2 is only 4k. Perhaps there is a shield enchant you would like?

![]() |

Sweet. So get in there and fix that weapon! :)

DireMerc |

The weapon screams in terror when it realises what you are trying to do and it fights back summoning babau demons to defend it but ultimately you manage to transform it into a powerful weapon for good.
You turn soulshear into a new weapon. (you can rename it if you want)
+2 transformative glaive that can summon 1d3 hound archons once per day it can also communicate via telepathy (range 100 feet) and can detect evil at will.

Tessai Saradesh |

1d3 hound archons is a nice feature.
I keep forgetting Radiance is a longsword, so Tess is sword and board. She can get a Winged Shield for just a little more than Boots of Flying. That'll give her the mobility I want and a shield boost.

![]() |

Right. Of course you can two hand a long sword...

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

Okay, I'm trying to decide what to spend Varn's cash on. I'd like to upgrade my Headband and I'm toying with either picking up a staff or a wand of some sort. Any of you fine folks have any good suggestions?
I'd thought about grabbing a Staff of Fire, that would provide Varn with some decent offensive capabilities and I can focus my daily spells on things more keen toward dealing with demons. Also, this would be a good time for me to start learning any new spells that we discussed. Would you like any spellcraft rolls for Varn to research new spells?

Aeron Stillwaters |

Just remember that we don't have to spend all the cash just for the sake of spending it.
As for Aeron, a +1 adaptive longbow for sure (3.45k), gloves of dueling perhaps (15k) and after that, I'm not sure. Upgrade armor? Maybe a pearl of power (lvl2) for Cal so he can cast darkvision on Aeron. Maybe a swarmbane clasp. Thoughts?
@Cal: Piecing metamagic rod?

![]() |

Tzadkiel is going to purchase the Ring of (lesser) Revelation for 10K and pick up Energy Body. Even if I end up choosing this revelation later the ring will let me use the form more times per day so its a nice thing to have.
With the rest of his funds he will up his AC a little. I know that is a diminishing effort but he can still add to his AC a little. 3K to increase his shield from +1 to +2 and 2K for an amulet of natural Armor +1. This leaves him 2K to spend.
With those purchases Tzadkiel is ready to proceed.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

I think I'll do a piercing metamagic rod and upgrade his headband, just need to verify that everything matches up price-wise.

![]() |

Not sure what it says about me but I know those prices by heart. Upgrading a +2 headband to +4 costs 12K. Lesser Piercing rod (up to 3rd level spells) costs 3k. Regular (Up to 6th level) costs 11k.

So tomorrow I leave for a week + of skiing. Its quite a bit of traveling and my days will be pretty filled. I hope to have internet but am not sure about quality or time availability. I'll post as time allows but please do not wait on me. I'll be back home on Sunday the 19th.

Orlando Nedraid |

Orlando will purchase a Mithril chain shirt +2 for 5100, A Belt of Incredible Dexterity for 4000. And a Dagger +1, Adamantine Defending for 11,002.

Orlando Nedraid |

Afraid of mental assaults, he also trades in his Cloak of Resistance +2 (4000gp) to buy a Cape of Free Will +2/+3 (6000gp) [Myth Adv.]
And buys a Wand of Shield (750gp) and Expeditious Retreat (750gp).

Tessai Saradesh |

We do spend some time in the keep before we go out. Tzad spent a week fixing the cursed forge. Should be more than enough time to attune a Ring of Sustenance.
That doesn't do anything to help any mounts we might have, though.

![]() |

OK. That was a long enough break. Can we get the game rolling again?

DireMerc |

I wasn't sure how to proceed here so I will simply show you the map.
The Letter A on the map is Drezen. B, C, D and E are crusader outpost that are your line of supply.
Everything else is a location you will need to explore to finish this part of the adventure.
I also It seems the volcano is not in the way I thought at first the town was M on the map but it is actually to the west.
Your destination were the bell is located is the Letter N on the map.
Makes it a bit simpler much less danger along that road.
Travelling directly east I will have you stop at J were there is a small deserted village there.

![]() |

So is part of our goal to complete this map, or at least fill in the information for the other letters? I am personally curious about H. We we actually have this map? Do we know the scale and travel times?

Aeron Stillwaters |

J is closest to our goal, (or is that the town we are in right now?), so maybe that would be a good first step?
I don't really want to get too metagamy here. Could we send out scouts to sweep the area to identify points of interest? We have some pretty solid NPCs floating around in Drezen.

![]() |

I am headed to a small con in Memphis and will be off line from noon tomorrow until Monday. Please bot me as needed.
