Tessai Saradesh |

Let's see.
+3 Spiked Full Plate- 10700/5350
Headband +2- 4000/2000
Pearl of Power (2nd)- 4000/2000
Javelins of Lightning- 3000/1500
Amulet +1- 2000/1000
Cloak +1- 1000/500
Radiance- it's an artifact, isn't it? I don't know how to value it. DM, I'd actually love to see some numbers about this sword. Right now all I have is the fluff.
So not counting Radiance and consumables Tess is at 24700 retail/12350 sale value.

DireMerc |

Radiance doesn't have a listed price just a - were it says price.
However a fully awakened radiance would be worth around 130 000 gold.
Fully awakened it is a +5 holy cold iron longsword that does a bunch of stuff on top of that.
Right now I believe it is a +2 cold Iron Longsword it will improve over time when you accomplish feats that make the sword like you more.
If you give the sword to anyone else it would revert to a +1 cold iron longsword.

First, I will be happy no matter how we divide loot. The group has been very generous with Tzadkiel, especially considering him joining late. And his build is not so equipment intensive anyway.
But that said I want to spend a moment to again explain my idea behind valuing a PC's wealth. This is not to convince anyone but to make sure you at least understand my reasoning, because to me it makes so much sense that no other system compares.
Regardless of what formula we might use to divvy out gold the way to value a PC's value is to count anything that they start with or purchase at full price but value anything they keep from fount loot at half price, because that is the value of found items to the party. As I said before its easy to pretend that instead of claiming a found item, all items are sold for half price, but the PC's get first dibs at buying them.
So for Tzadkiel the phylactery of Positive Channeling he started with is valued at 11000 gold, which is its list price. But the belt of Might Con +4, which we recently recovered, is valued at 8000 gold, which is its sale price. And as items are crafted they should also be valued at their crafting cost as this is the actual cost to the party.
Obviously there is an incentive to keep found items. This is as it should me imho as this has the effect of increasing actual party wealth.
This helps Tessai with the artifact as well as its a found item. My thoughts on it is that we value it based on its current powers and then count it as half like any other found item.
OK. Now I will shut up about this. But I do hope everyone at least follows my logic, even if they do not agree. :)

Leveling up: Tzadkiel takes another level or Oracle, surprising no one.
He gains no BAB but his Fort and Reflex saves increase. And he picks up another second, third, and fourth level spell known. He gains a feat and take Improved Familiar who I will introduce shortly.
He gains 4 skill points and allocates them in Diplomacy, Perception, Knowledge Religion and Sense Motive.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

Merc, would Varn be able to use this feat gained at 9th level as the one we talked about for switching the primary stat from Cha to Int for his Riftwarden abilities?
Also, good to know about the items, Aeron! Once we clear out the basement, Varn will have that library tower to use for his workshop and can finally start making some items. I will also pick up Mythic Wondrous Item crafting.

Othello Bonmarlo |

I got on me:
composite longbow +1 (str+1) 2200gp
flaming composite longbow +1 (str+2) 4300gp
scale armor +1 1050gp
MW cold-iron longsword 315gp
Mw cold-iron dagger 302gp
cloak of resistance +1 1000gp
Efficient Quiver 1800gp
19 +2 magical beast bane arrows 3800gp
20 cold iron arrows(if I restock) 2gp
20 arrows(again if I restock) 1gp
Since we are going to fight the demon instead of humans AND demons, I'm go to take 40 cold iron arrows over 20 of each.
BTW, I take penalties from that new longbow since I don't have +2 strength yet. Can we buy a strength boosting item for me when we do our shopping?
As for leveling, along with increase reflex and spells, I get new teamwork feat, Enfilading Fire and replace Duck and Cover with Feint Partner. I also take Deadly Aim as my new normal feat and learn Daybreak Arrow.
And I forgot to roll my HP.
HD: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Reroll
HD: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Yay :|

![]() |

Othello ,
you have some math errors above.
Your composite longbow +1 (str+1) lists at 2500. 100 for the bow, 100 for the +1 strength, 300 for masterwork, and 2000 for the +1 enchantment.
Your flaming composite longbow +1 (str+2) has a list price of 8600. 100 for the bow, @00 for the +2 strength, 300 for masterwork, 2000 for the +1 enchantment, and 6000 more for flaming. 4300 would be the sale price though.
Your +1 scale armor lists at 1200. I think you forgot the cost of masterwork. Note that you could trade that in for Tzadkeil's +1 breastplate if you like.
And your cold iron weapons cost double to start with so a masterwork cold iron longsword would be 330. The dagger would be 304 I believe.
And finally consider the enchantment Adaptive for your bow. Its a flat 1000 gp and adapts to the strength of the wielder. Nice considering you can still use your bow if you get some strength damage.

Orlando Nedraid |

Add a level of Swashbuckler
Add 1d10 ⇒ 2 hp (the second '2' in a row...)
Add +1/+1 BAB
Add +1 Ref save
Add bonus feat: Weapon Specialization-Rapier
Add general feat: Equipment Trick-Cloak
Add 6 skill points

Othello Bonmarlo |

I thought the masterwork were already added to the magic cost at the time. Don't know what happen to the longbow though :(. Thanks for catching that.
When we have time though, I will add the Adaptive thing like you said. Didn't know that was a thing.

Aeron Stillwaters |

1 level of fighter:
HP: 1d10 ⇒ 8
+1 BAB
+1 Perception
+1 Survival
Add weapon training (polearms)
Weapon training (heavy blades) improves to +2/+2
Bonus feat: Eldritch heritage (orc)
Hero lab tells me Aeron has ~19k worth of gear.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

Huh... It always seemed like Varn was way behind everyone on WBL, but after seeing things put out there he may be ahead of a lot of you... Now I feel like an ass for asking for more lol. I will post Varn's level up in a bit!

![]() |

And I feel like a thief for ending up with so much stuff. :) What we need is mythic crafting from Varn to catch everyone up.
Any items Tzadkiel will want will be only to heal or buff more efficiently. I can likely think of a few for crafting targets but I'll get at the back of the line.

Aeron Stillwaters |

If we have time for some crafting, that would help us catch up those that are behind. All I really want for Aeron right now is a STR booting belt.
If we can get the forge redeeming evil things, we might really come out ahead after this adventure.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

1 Level of Riftwarden
HP: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
+1 BaB
+1 Fort/Will
+1 level of spellcasting class
+1 3rd/4th level spell per day
+2 spells known: Greater Invisibility, Phantasmal Killer
+11 Skills
- Craft (Alchemy)
- Knowledge: Arcana
- Knowledge: Planes
- Knowledge: Dungeoneering
- Knowledge: History
- Knowledge: Nature
- Perception
- Spellcraft
- Sense Motive
- Fly
- Linguistics (Giant)
Eradication +1

Tessai Saradesh |

For crafting, Quick Runner's Shirts are cheap and everybody could use one. Same with Boots of Speed or Winged Boots, but they cost a little more. Handy Haversacks could be useful for everybody, too.
Also movement related and useful for pretty much everybody- Rings of Freedom of Movement, but they're on the expensive side.
It seems like we could use a couple of Everburning Lanterns for this next big fight. If Othello is going to be using a bow, Ghost Salt blanch is key for hitting incorporeal enemies with arrows.
For just her, specifically, Tess would love a Silver Smite Bracelet and a Scabbard of Keen Edges.

Tessai Saradesh |

Oh, and for some reason I never got that Tess is a sword and board-er. I don't even have her shield figured into her AC. So enchanting her shield up to +2 would be good.
Sadly, Varn doesn't have Create Magic Weapons and Armor. Any chance we can get weapon and armor enchantments from our friendly dwarf blacksmith at cost?

Tessai Saradesh |

Did everyone finish leveling?
Tessai is ready, but I was wondering if anyone has thought about the Leadership feat. We've got an army following us around, so it would seem appropriate. And Joran seems like he would make a good crafter cohort.

![]() |

Leadership is a good idea IF our DM is ok with it. Tzadkiel has 3 feats invested in his improved familiar if you count his racial feat for Skill focus so I'd rather not delay that for two more levels. But he could take the feat at 11.

Tessai Saradesh |

Right, that's why I'm asking. I took Greater Mercy for Tess's 9th level feat but if Leadership is on the table I might take that instead. Her Leadership level is pretty good, as one would expect of a paladin, and I'd assume the team would get bonuses due to mythic-ness and story awards.

DireMerc |

As a note you wont be having any real say in the design of the cohort you get if you chose you leadership (apart from maybe some feat choices and spell choices). You can chose from a list of existing characters and I will keep them at the appropriate level and the lower level cohorts will just be crusaders from the army.

Tessai Saradesh |

I think I'll drop Greater Mercy for Leadership and we can discuss cohort and followers. I'll send you a PM with questions, DM.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

Anyone have some good suggestions on spells for this fight? Obviously Mage Armor would be a good choice for everyone from his wand. Daylight is of course a must... Anything else you folks can think of off the top of your heads? Magic Missile will be very useful.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

While it wouldn't stack with your regular armor, Mage Armor would still apply to the incorporeal attacks as it is a Force effect. Granted it's only +4 bonus, but that's at least something.

![]() |

Hmm. Of course we will encounter more than just that shadow demon. And I suspect he will be quite a bit tougher than your run of the mill variety. But in general we know that Shadow Demons fly and are incorporeal. And like other demons they can teleport at will. So locking them down with a dimensional anchor might be in order. Plus they have a pretty good chance of gating in another of their kind for help. But their main threat is that magic jar ability. And while they can only cast it once a day it lasts for hours. So maybe Dispel Magic to end it and Protection from evil to protect us from it.
Another thought is that when we meet this demon it may already be in possession of some other body.

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

Varn always has Magic Circle Against Evil prepared each day and I can use Wild Arcana to attempt Dispels. He also has the Counter-Summons ability.
A Riftwarden can ready an action to use a summon monster spell or spelllike ability as a counterspell, even though the casting time for a summon monster spell is 1 full round. When used this way, the summon monster spell is treated as though quickened to a swift action via the Quicken Spell metamagic feat, though its spell level is not increased, and it can be used only to counterspell. When used to counterspell, a summon monster spell can counter any conjuration (summoning) spell or spell-like ability of its level or lower, including an outsider’s summon ability.
At 5th level, this ability can be used as an immediate action, without the need to ready an action beforehand.

Tessai Saradesh |

Everybody should get a Protection from Evil, since it can possess people.
And yeah, if it's incorporeal its attacks will ignore our armor.
Probably any sun or light spells- Daylight, obviously, but also Blinding Ray and Searing Light. Tess has 2 Ghostbane Dirge spells memorized, but her DC isn't great and SR applies.
She has a new Aura that's a DC 20 Will save or Evil Outsiders within 20 feet are affected by Dimensional Anchor. If this thing is the BBEG of this mod and is mythic it can probably make the Will save once or twice but if she can stay in range of it eventually it will botch a roll and get locked down.
Speaking of botched rolls, if our casters could spam Dismissal maybe we could get lucky and send it back to the Abyss.
Joran mentions that the corruption forge is guarded by a group of salamanders other than that he doesn't know much about the defences in the lower levels.
Can he draw us a map? Or at least give directions like 'turn right at the bottom of the stairs, take your second left.' I know we're going to clear out the whole place, but he should be able to tell us where the forge is if he's been there before.

![]() |

Salamanders means fire - Tzad will supply resistance 20 against fire for all.
I like the idea of dismissal, and can cast it with mythic points and with the bump from using a mythic point the DC is 23 and he is +2 vs SR. But with the world wound so close I would worry that the demon could simply walk back through the gate and then teleport back to the fight, perhaps even with allies.

Tessai Saradesh |

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Do Tzad/Varn/anybody know whether Dismissal would work or if what Tzad is worried about would happen?

Caladire "Varn" Sophas |

I imagine Varn could easily find out that information with his ridiculously high Knowledge: Planes bonus and that library that grants bonuses.

![]() |

This is getting way out there and likely beyond what even the AP covers but if we "dismiss" a shadow demon he goes home to one of the infinite (or 666, depending on whose version you are using) layers of the abyss. Once there said demon may be delayed due to getting from his home layer to whatever layer(s) connect to the world wound. Abyssal portals between layers are rumored to not always be stable and are said to open, close, and even move about. Some are guarded and even highly contested by the chaotic local demon warlords. So it could be anywhere from hard, taking weeks, months or years, or very easy, taking rounds to get to the abyssal side of the world wound. But once the demon steps through to our side he can be beside us that next round.

![]() |

Completely agree. But maybe we can dismiss the Salamanders. :)

Tessai Saradesh |

As I said, if Tess can get and stay in range of it her new Anchoring Aura can lock it down. DC 20, so it can probably make the save the first couple of times, but eventually it will botch its roll and get locked down.

I am headed to a local con this afternoon and will be gone through Sunday. I am unsure how much time I will have to post or if there will be good internet. Please bot me if needed.

Othello Bonmarlo |

Just a heads up, I'm going to be by the lake this week. I will be back by Sunday, but until then I might be not be able to post for while. Bot me if you need to.

Tessai Saradesh |

Hi, guys.
I've just been asked to cover for someone who's scheduled to teach a seminar next week, so I'm going to be out until Monday the 8th. Sorry for the short notice.
Thanks.
