M Human Barbarian 4

"Maybe we should let it go?"

Sorry for delay folks.

Male Halfling Bard 4

"Don't be bloody daft, our Macmorr."

Male Elf Druid 4

"Troubled though this forest may be, I will not loose upon it the abominable mutation before us. That which never should have been created ought to be destroyed."

M Human Barbarian 4

"This pig'll be the death of me."

Move to P27 (avoiding the fire and slick), and then charge the bullette at N27 using Howling Strike instead of a basic attack. I then use my boots of adept charging to shift 1 to M28.

1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 1 = 30 to hit, damage 1d12 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 5 + (6) = 18

ALRIGHT! Crit means maximum weapon damage so that's 17+6 = 23 damage. My axe is High Crit and vicious, so that's plus an extra 2d12 ⇒ (3, 12) = 15. And I also get a free melee basic attack as part of my Rampage class feature.

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 to hit, damage 1d12 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Nice! A total of 52 damage. Heh heh...

Bulette Mutation: Standard - Second Wind. Move - Earth Furrow (no oas)

Ghadmyr calls forth the powers of nature to assist the heroes, whilst Healaugh uses his almighty foghorn voice to be very rude.

Macmoor shoves past Ddraig and runs pell-mell over the fallen tree, leaping from the trunk to deliver a devasting blow to the creature, which staggers from a horrible wound.

The barbarian's magical boots then allow him to leap away from the storm.

The squares covered by tree outside the northern doorway are difficult terrain.

Male Human Artificer 4

Paddling across the waterlogged floor, Ynyr squints through the door at the bulette and throws his dagger at it.

Move to S26.
Aggravating Force (AC). On hit, next ally to attack before end Ynyr's next turn gets a +2 bonus to attack rolls
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

"Better not let it run off now, had we."

Hit!

The lovestruck tinker uses his magic to throw a dagger at the departing beast.

Initiative

White Boar 7 - Macmoor on boar duty.
Ddraig 21

M Human Barbarian 4

OK, the boar will to R-S/26-27 and charge due north at the bullette at O-P/26-27.

Gore 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 + 2 = 31, damage 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 8 = 17, and if it hits pushes our friend 2 and knocks it prone.

EDIT: Suddenly the dice like me again.

Male Dragonborn Paladin, Level 4

Right!

Ddraig moves (to P27) then charges the Bulette:

Charge at Bulette: (1d20+11=30, 1d8+5=8)

"You shall not elude us!"

Hit - pushed under retchpalm. Attack 1d20+6 vs Fort = 26 CRIT. Typical. 6 damage and weakened (se). Ddraig also hits. Bullete recharges fire breath. Attacks Ddraig, Macmoor vs Ref with fire breath 20 vs Ddraig, 18 vs Macmoor, 20 vs Boar. Ddraig, Boar and Macmoor each take 7 fire damage (half of 14 - weakened)

The boar charges through the doorway, smashing the creature into a nearby tree. Horrid smelling fruit rains down on the mutated bulette. It is clearly on its last legs as it blearily gets up and belches fire over those nearest.

Save - 12

Male Halfling Bard 4

"Come on now, our Brigid-lass. Don't be letting us down."

Healaugh mutters a quick invocation to the only deity he has any truck with.

"Gurt pile of useless leavings," he bellows at the remains of the bulette.

Vicious Mockery (Will). On hit, target takes -2 penalty to attack rolls to end Healaugh's next turn
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Unfortunately, Brigid appears to have her mind on other things. Healaugh shrugs and maintains Macmorr's protective shield.

Male Elf Druid 4

Ghadmyr moves into position and calls down more primal wrath upon the bulette.

Move to P27. Storm spike. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 vs Ref. 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 lightning on a hit. If it doesn't move at least 2 squares on its next tuen, it takes 4 more lightning damage.

Healaugh and Macmoor are equally ineffective against the beast, and it ignores the stormy power and bellowed insults.

Male Human Artificer 4

Ynyr shakes his head and rolls something small across the ground towards the bulette. A short-lived but dazzling explosion follows.

Lightning Sphere (Fort). Burst 1 within 10 (enemies only). On hit, target grants CA to all to end Ynyr's next turn
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 - which may hit, so
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 lightning damage

Ynyr's lightning is not exact;y frightening to the bulette, which stands bloody but unbowed. Or a bit bowed.

Male Human Artificer 4

"This is very distressing. Maybe Macmorr can bring an end to this creature do you think? Most un-natural, do you know."

Don't you just love it when everyone misses :)

M Human Barbarian 4

Move to K28 without provoking AoO, then unleash with a Devastating Strike.

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 to hit, damage 1d12 + 5 + 1d8 ⇒ (9) + 5 + (3) = 17

"DIE, DAMMIT!"

A miss.

Macmoor's axe bounces off the scales of their foe, as the heroes find themselves running out of luck at the last hurdle.

The boar backs up and then charges, joining the ranks of those who miss in fine style.

Sigh.

M Human Barbarian 4

"I HATE THAT THING!"

Male Dragonborn Paladin, Level 4

OK, here goes nothing ...

Ddraig hacks again at the Bulette:

Enfeebling Strike on Bulette, using Divine Strength: (1d20+9=20, 1d8+4+4=13)

Sighs ...

Again ...

Sorry for delay.

The Boar and Ddraig try to finish the beast off, but it is too resilient.

Male Halfling Bard 4

"C'mon our Brigid-lass, we've had a bloody-nuff of this," mutters Healaugh under his breath before turning his voice up full throttle.

"Back to the boiling vats that birthed you, you useless pile of mutant body-parts."

Vicious Mockery (Will)
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
CRIT!
13 damage from the power
2d8 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9 - crit damage.
22 damage

Ever capricious, Brigid hears the fervent prayers of her halfling worshipper.

His voice tuned to the power of magic, the halfling curses the monster and it spasms horribly, and collapses dead, oozing horrid fluid.

Out of combat. Nice one. 300 XP each.

With the defeat of the creature, the white boar begins to glow ever brighter from within. It falls to the ground, and for a split second a glowing humanoid shape rises up from the body and dissolves towards the west. Before it finally disappears it smiles at the heroes, and then is gone.

Male Halfling Bard 4

"There's reet strange."

Healaugh tries to work out what he's just seen.

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 - Arcana, if appropriate.

Still in shock from the bulette's demise, he can make little sense of the rest of the happenings.

Male Elf Druid 4

Was anything left behind from the transformation?

Also, does the transformative magic resemble anything natural or fey? Nature 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

Male Human Artificer 4

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 - Arcana

Ynyr polishes his monocle and does little better.

The body of the boar has been left behind.

Ghadmyr has heard stories of spirits sent by the gods that can inhabit the bodies of magical beasts, such as a boar or stag. Perhaps the heroes have witnessed just such a thing.

Male Halfling Bard 4

"Can't rightly say what were happening there, but leastways we can prove boar's gone. Tidy that."

Healaugh looks thoughtfully at the body. "Happen were another god, like."

Male Elf Druid 4

Ghadmyr shares his knowledge.

What time of day is it?

Male Human Artificer 4

"Well possibly and maybe not and who is to say when things are so mysteriously arrayed and I am asking - no - I am begging you, Healaugh, not to be finding another deity to worship as we are in enough trouble often because of your Brigid as things stand."

It is now early evening.

Passive Perception 20 or more

Spoiler:
You hear the sounds of splashing to the northeast.

Male Halfling Bard 4

Healaugh ignores his friend's plea and cuts a small piece of hair from the fallen boar.

"For memory, like," he says respectfully before leaping to his feet.

"Lass. Best be sure Yarra's not harmed."

M Human Barbarian 4

I'm on 1 hp.

"Bloody hell!" Macmorr leans on his axe, exhausted as his rage ends. "Some pig!"

Male Halfling Bard 4

"Sing a song of resting,
A pocketful of pie,
Sing of song of resting,
All the bad's gone by,
With the monster fallen,
Birds begin to cheep,
Everyone is better now,
Let's have a little sleep."

Healaugh bellows the familiar incantation over his shoulder.

Restful healing. Gain an additional +4 to any surges you use during a short rest.

Male Elf Druid 4

Ghadmyr's pointy ears perk up. "Something stirs to the northeast."

M Human Barbarian 4

"Right, I've got my breath back, let's go."

Macmorr hefts his axe.

Used three healing surges.

Male Elf Druid 4

Ghadmyr carefully approaches the source of the sound.

Ghadmyr heads north east to a still, scummy pool, that has recently been churned by its inhabitants. Crocodiles.

They start moving towards him...

Male Halfling Bard 4

"Get back here tha gurt nitwit."

Male Elf Druid 4

Ghadmyr backs away steadily...

The druid backs away, but the crocodiles continue to move closer. They seem to be intent on the fresh bodies left by the recent battle.

Male Human Artificer 4

Ynyr looks a little wild-eyed.

"Perhaps we could push the bulette in their direction do you think? We should be keeping the boar corpse for evidence, do you see."

Male Elf Druid 4

"I'm inclined to agree tinkerer." Swiftly, Ghadmyr gives the bulette a shove in the direction of the crocs.

The druid gives the bulette a shove.

It doesn't move.

He may need a bit of help.

Male Human Artificer 4

"Ddraig? Macmorr? Could you be lending us some assistance do you think?"

Ynyr puts his shoulder to the bulette.

Male Dragonborn Paladin, Level 4

Ddraig lends his rather large bulk to the effort.

M Human Barbarian 4

"Wouldn't it be better if Ghadmyr just led them to the bullette. I mean, it's pretty big."
