Unfortunately I am an XP away from 11 after we finish this. I was not able to apply GM credit to Alden from PaizoCon because the tiers didn't match. :-(
Just checking, the tiers did not match or the sub-tiers did not match? GM credit subtiers are determined by the GM's character level only, so if you ran subtier 7-8 of a 7-11 scenario, you still get subtier 10-11 credit and gold.

Unfortunately my one table of 7-11 didn't make, and my other two tables were 5-9's, just out of range.
@42, I'll try to do so, but with a 9-month-old at home it's not easy to find the time anymore. That's really why I've been so much more active on PbP boards recently.

![]() |

They didn't make it as in they died or that they didn't make it to the table? because if you GMed a group that had a TPK, you still get credit.

![]() |

As in the table didn't fill up. It was a CORE 7-11 scenario, so it's not surprising. :-(

![]() |

Huzzah! As luck would have it, we just happened to finish up a 7-11 scenario in PbP where I was playing a pregen, so I can apply that credit to Alden here, getting him to the right level! :-D

Moving over to the discussion to not mess up the gameplay thread.
The whole section:
To determine whether your target has cover from your ranged attack, choose a corner of your square. If any line from this corner to any corner of the target's square passes through a square or border that blocks line of effect or provides cover, or through a square occupied by a creature, the target has cover (+4 to AC).
When making a melee attack against an adjacent target, your target has cover if any line from any corner of your square to the target's square goes through a wall (including a low wall). When making a melee attack against a target that isn't adjacent to you (such as with a reach weapon), use the rules for determining cover from ranged attacks.
Low Obstacles and Cover: A low obstacle (such as a wall no higher than half your height) provides cover, but only to creatures within 30 feet (6 squares) of it. The attacker can ignore the cover if he's closer to the obstacle than his target.
Cover and Attacks of Opportunity: You can't execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with cover relative to you.
Cover and Reflex Saves: Cover grants you a +2 bonus on Reflex saves against attacks that originate or burst out from a point on the other side of the cover from you. Note that spread effects can extend around corners and thus negate this cover bonus.
Cover and Stealth Checks: You can use cover to make a Stealth check. Without cover, you usually need concealment (see below) to make a Stealth check.
Soft Cover: Creatures, even your enemies, can provide you with cover against ranged attacks, giving you a +4 bonus to AC. However, such soft cover provides no bonus on Reflex saves, nor does soft cover allow you to make a Stealth check.
Big Creatures and Cover: Any creature with a space larger than 5 feet (1 square) determines cover against melee attacks slightly differently than smaller creatures do. Such a creature can choose any square that it occupies to determine if an opponent has cover against its melee attacks. Similarly, when making a melee attack against such a creature, you can pick any of the squares it occupies to determine if it has cover against you.
Partial Cover: If a creature has cover, but more than half the creature is visible, its cover bonus is reduced to a +2 to AC and a +1 bonus on Reflex saving throws. This partial cover is subject to the GM's discretion.
Total Cover: If you don't have line of effect to your target (that is, you cannot draw any line from your square to your target's square without crossing a solid barrier), he is considered to have total cover from you. You can't make an attack against a target that has total cover.
Improved Cover: In some cases, such as attacking a target hiding behind an arrowslit, cover may provide a greater bonus to AC and Reflex saves. In such situations, the normal cover bonuses to AC and Reflex saves can be doubled (to +8 and +4, respectively). A creature with this improved cover effectively gains improved evasion against any attack to which the Reflex save bonus applies. Furthermore, improved cover provides a +10 bonus on Stealth checks.
The bolded portion is what I was going from. But I might be reading that wrong.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Yes, but you had soft cover. Which calls out that it provides cover against ranged attacks specifically, not melee attacks. You were standing in front of an open door with only your ally between you and a creature with a 30' reach. He could strike you, you had no cover.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Okay, after reading the forums and re-reading the cover rules, it seems I am mistaken. Creatures with reach greater than 5' use ranged rules beyond that 5' increment. Therefore Lavode would not have been attacked and grappled. I'll move him back and revise the narrative.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

I apologize for the confusion. I swear every time I GM I learn a new rule I didn't know that I didn't know.

Trust me, I understand. :)

will be a busy weekend for me. I won't be able to post until Monday.

FiddlersGreen |

I'm away from 13 - 17 July and won't have internet access. Is anyone else going to be taking a leave of absence during the holiday period?

![]() |

I'll be on vacation but still have access to the web, so I shouldn't be too disrupted as far as posting.

![]() |

I will also be away from 10 to 19 July. I might have some internet access, but the wife has told me that if I try to do any PFS whilst we're on holiday, I will be in trouble, so I don't think I'll be able to post.
What I will do is open a thread and make an opening post before I go away, we can all dot in, and then when I get back you guys can go rampage in an alien world.
Can I confirm that I will be running The Frozen Stars next, and who will be playing in it?

![]() |

I'll also be 11 and able to play. Yay!

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

It is done. I'm doing a wrap up post shortly, but if you have a day job, go ahead and roll it!

Day job (Handle Animal}
handle animal: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (6) + 21 = 27

![]() |

craft alchemy: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31
craft alchemy, reroll: 1d20 + 25 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 25 + 1 = 44
Give me a couple of days to set up the new campaign thread, and we can start the initial briefing, posting and shopping.
42, Alden, Lavode, Exiel and Nienna will be playing. Will Balik be joining us?

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Balik is sadly 1 XP shy of 11th level, so he will need to bow out. Plus I just ran Frozen Stars for my home game, so I'm a little too close to it! But thanks for the offer. I will send out Nienna and Ralph's chronicles tomorrow.
