Korihor sounds good to me. Just to change things up a little: Korihor may think the guards saved her from bandits, Yvette slashing the bandit leader with her greatsword took a lot of fight out of them. However, from Yvette's perception of how Korihor handled her side of the fight, the guards saved a bunch of bandits from Korihor's fury. A shame really because the bandits needed a good thrashing more than a year or two in the local jail.

I'm sorry, but where is the link to start playing the game? Has it been posted yet? I don't really know my way around the Paizo forums well.
As for Kathleen (Katie,) she is a nurse and fortune-teller who knows nothing of life outside of her homeplace, and was drafted into the Silver Crusade by a paladin who rescued her and made her his squire. He's long since disappeared, so anyone else could've picked her up, especially if they knew she was a healer instead of a warrior.

Since Aurora has memory loss, she could have befriended the "new girl in town" in Korihor. Assuming Soryn is staying in Cauldron for more than a three day stay, he could be "the new guy" as well, and we've all become friends because of this. If he is only here to drop something off, honestly, I don't see why he'd stay when trouble starts. No ties. Soryn, what if you had family that DM Choppy could endanger? Lol.
Korihor is not a follower of Callistra, so wouldn't have met her there. Any ideas?

I am unfamiliar with the campaign so i dont know how i would be hooked into it. my character has a mostly boring job delivering things and is interested to do something more adventurous, and he isnt opposed to being friends with anyone so he could be here on a "weekend" when trouble starts. the specifics of my character preclude any sort of family though, so that angle is out.

Maybe you're all in the same healing room and Katie's the nurse who took care of you all, and you've all just getting over the illness?
Food poisoning or a bar brawl or something. After all, everyone gets sick (except paladins). It's the great equalizer and can happen to almost anyone, in which case trained medical professionals (especially with healing spells) become your best friend.
In fact, that might give Katie a reason to quest. Nurse in some healing center, new Elvish administrator with an ax to grind. Sees this Half-Orc and fires her. Suddenly, she's out a job, and in need of money, and yet her patients know she's a capable healer.

I got the bug. Cool with that, lol.
The bug, not the itch. Just to clarify.
And Soryn, these things have nothing to do with the campaign, Shackled city...they are just ways we are all making it so we know each other before the DM throws a skeleton at us...so we know each other, and are friends, and care enough to adventure. So you could say you have family in Cauldron, and you happen to be visiting there as you deliver whatever it is you are delivering...

other than his desire to be something more than a deliveryboy. i dont know how the campaign starts (barfight, town is attacked, wanted poster, mysterious questgiver, etc) so i dont really know what angle to go towards. usually the DM decides where we all start and what the hook is (in my experience) and if you would go for the hook you do, if not, eh...
of course in my IRL games the DM discourages PCs having previous ties to other PCs because then sides get taken and it can polarize the party when infighting breaks out. which happens a lot in my IRL parties hahaa

Indeed. She was warned that outside her home, she and her fellow academy students wouldn't be seen as the people they were, merely as Orcs.
So yes, Katie knew she was facing a life of discrimination, but she had to go on her vision quest, only to get captured and squired by a paladin knight of the Silver Crusade. He disappeared on her, and now she's alone, so she took the first job she can get. She was good at it and worked there nearly a year.
And now she's lost it because of a racist Elf administrator who took over for a kindly retiring Human. She'll welcome Korihor's friendship, gladly.
Aurora Silverbow |
The thing is while she doesn't remember anything about how she ended up nearly dead Aurora knows she was found surrounded by dead orcs with arrows in them. There's definitely some PTSD to get over when she meets Katie, not that she'd be insantly violent or not give her a chance, just that she'll be twitchy.
I can definitely see linking with Korihor as a newcomer, since she's been part of the community foir two years but still an outsider and a mystery.

I don't know how much of this our friendly neighborhood GM will be tweaking, but this document has some information about Cauldron. It looks like a slightly Pathfinderized version of the player's guide from the original AP using Golarion gods and such. I doubt there's anything in here that would be a spoiler.
Yvette was born and raised in Cauldron, but between her upbringing and her family's reputation she often feels socially awkward. Yvette's had people she's grown up with suddenly start mouthing off about how she could be a monster often enough that she won't judge someone just because their granddaddy was an elf or an orc.
it doesn't mater to me at all. I will go along with whatever the group picks, just expect me to hit on everyone and anything that moves.
I've got no problem with that as a player, but we'll have to see how Yvette responds.

As this campaign appears to be in a defacto state of abandoned, I'm popping in to see if there is interest in this same Shackled City campaign, but set in Golarion and using the PathFinder rules. I realize you have all invested some time in creating 3.5 edition characters, and while I do have a rather complete set of 3.5, I'm trying to focus my efforts on learning just a few systems. The differences between 3.5 and PF will probably trip me up every time (I'm much more familiar with the later).
In addition, while I'm a long-time GM, I'm new to PBP. I have recently started another short-scoped adventure, but my ultimate goal is to eventually run either RotRL or Shackled City. As you seem to be a group of players pretty much already organized for purposes of playing towards one of those goals, I might as well seize the opportunity.
My regrets to DM Choppy -- I sincerely hope everything is well with him and his family in real life.
