I posted a couple changes to the profile. Tweaked the attributes for 15 point build and changed the equipment load slightly. Also got rid of the section on Yvette's take on PCs that won't be appearing in this campaign.

Aurora, just a note, but half your character descriptions list Alanna, not Aurora...just sayin'. :)

Yvette if you are interested, Korihor could have been saved on the road by her and a squad of Cauldron's guards one day. Perhaps from bandits. They bonded from that, being perhaps...six months ago? I don't know, something like that?

Korihor sounds good to me. Just to change things up a little: Korihor may think the guards saved her from bandits, Yvette slashing the bandit leader with her greatsword took a lot of fight out of them. However, from Yvette's perception of how Korihor handled her side of the fight, the guards saved a bunch of bandits from Korihor's fury. A shame really because the bandits needed a good thrashing more than a year or two in the local jail.

I like it. But not fury of anger...fury caused by fear. It was a fight for her life, and she was holding nothing back. :)

Thanks,Korihor changing that now! And adding background such as it is.

Silver Crusade

I'm sorry, but where is the link to start playing the game? Has it been posted yet? I don't really know my way around the Paizo forums well.

As for Kathleen (Katie,) she is a nurse and fortune-teller who knows nothing of life outside of her homeplace, and was drafted into the Silver Crusade by a paladin who rescued her and made her his squire. He's long since disappeared, so anyone else could've picked her up, especially if they knew she was a healer instead of a warrior.

Grand Lodge

hey everyone sorry i havent posted or started this yet work has been hell. Everything will be up and ready to go tomorrow so bare with me. Thanks!

Sczarni

????????????????

So any other ideas for characters meeting or knowing each other?

Sczarni

I am sure some of you have been in the temple

sorry I have been a bit out of it lately and been of my game

I am an outsider just recently arriving to Cauldron

Since Aurora has memory loss, she could have befriended the "new girl in town" in Korihor. Assuming Soryn is staying in Cauldron for more than a three day stay, he could be "the new guy" as well, and we've all become friends because of this. If he is only here to drop something off, honestly, I don't see why he'd stay when trouble starts. No ties. Soryn, what if you had family that DM Choppy could endanger? Lol.

Korihor is not a follower of Callistra, so wouldn't have met her there. Any ideas?

I am unfamiliar with the campaign so i dont know how i would be hooked into it. my character has a mostly boring job delivering things and is interested to do something more adventurous, and he isnt opposed to being friends with anyone so he could be here on a "weekend" when trouble starts. the specifics of my character preclude any sort of family though, so that angle is out.

Silver Crusade

Maybe you're all in the same healing room and Katie's the nurse who took care of you all, and you've all just getting over the illness?

Food poisoning or a bar brawl or something. After all, everyone gets sick (except paladins). It's the great equalizer and can happen to almost anyone, in which case trained medical professionals (especially with healing spells) become your best friend.

In fact, that might give Katie a reason to quest. Nurse in some healing center, new Elvish administrator with an ax to grind. Sees this Half-Orc and fires her. Suddenly, she's out a job, and in need of money, and yet her patients know she's a capable healer.

Sczarni

why wouldn't I heal myself?

Silver Crusade

Maybe you weren't her patient at all. Maybe you were unconscious? Someone who's been knocked out can't take care of themselves. Just a suggestion. Feel free to discard it.

I got the bug. Cool with that, lol.

The bug, not the itch. Just to clarify.

And Soryn, these things have nothing to do with the campaign, Shackled city...they are just ways we are all making it so we know each other before the DM throws a skeleton at us...so we know each other, and are friends, and care enough to adventure. So you could say you have family in Cauldron, and you happen to be visiting there as you deliver whatever it is you are delivering...

Silver Crusade

It's a reason some of us know each other and a reason that we're questing. Nothing more. Except, perhaps, a little creative fun.

having the bug is fine, my character got a little carried away in the bar. my character absolutely has no family though (he was created, not born).

Sczarni

I think that it would make things easier if we just have this set up? I am not even sure how many people there were. I will go back and look and try to get a count of things..

Kyranda (Cleric)
Aurora silverbow (fighter)
Korihor (sorcerer)
Soryn (fighter?)
Yvette (Fighter)
Katie (druid)

What do you mean, set up? There were six.

And even being created, you can have adoptive family, or friends here. Or children of your own (your ex happens to live here).

Silver Crusade

If he doesn't want a family, he doesn't have to have one. So long as he knows any one or two of our other characters, that might be hook enough. At least, to connect him to the rest of the party.

that's true. i am not opposed to having known one or more of the PCs and visiting them while i am in town.

Oh, I know, I'm just throwing out suggestions, because right now, if I were his character, I'd walk. No motivations to stay and help friends, save people, or defend home.

:)

Perfect. Lol. Any takers? I think Kyranda is a local.

Sczarni

it doesn't mater to me at all. I will go along with whatever the group picks, just expect me to hit on everyone and anything that moves.

Silver Crusade

The more contacts Katie has, the better for her as far as agreeing to join the party. As I said, illness is the great equalizer.

Kyranda, Soryn is the Aegis class, a type of psionic fighter, I believe.

other than his desire to be something more than a deliveryboy. i dont know how the campaign starts (barfight, town is attacked, wanted poster, mysterious questgiver, etc) so i dont really know what angle to go towards. usually the DM decides where we all start and what the hook is (in my experience) and if you would go for the hook you do, if not, eh...

of course in my IRL games the DM discourages PCs having previous ties to other PCs because then sides get taken and it can polarize the party when infighting breaks out. which happens a lot in my IRL parties hahaa

Sczarni

great.... one of those.. this is not great they always screw up parties.

yeah Aegis is sorta like a psionic fighter. doesnt cast spells (powers) though. just basically has a suit of armor he can customize to do some fun things

Deal, Kyranda, lol. Katie, you feel outcast as well as a half-Orc, I assume. With Korihor on the run and disowned, she'd feel comfortable around your peaceful nature.

ah, you dont have to worry about me screwing up the party. Aegis is more versatile but much less powerful than a psion or psychic warrior

Silver Crusade

Indeed. She was warned that outside her home, she and her fellow academy students wouldn't be seen as the people they were, merely as Orcs.

So yes, Katie knew she was facing a life of discrimination, but she had to go on her vision quest, only to get captured and squired by a paladin knight of the Silver Crusade. He disappeared on her, and now she's alone, so she took the first job she can get. She was good at it and worked there nearly a year.

And now she's lost it because of a racist Elf administrator who took over for a kindly retiring Human. She'll welcome Korihor's friendship, gladly.

The thing is while she doesn't remember anything about how she ended up nearly dead Aurora knows she was found surrounded by dead orcs with arrows in them. There's definitely some PTSD to get over when she meets Katie, not that she'd be insantly violent or not give her a chance, just that she'll be twitchy.

I can definitely see linking with Korihor as a newcomer, since she's been part of the community foir two years but still an outsider and a mystery.

I don't know how much of this our friendly neighborhood GM will be tweaking, but this document has some information about Cauldron. It looks like a slightly Pathfinderized version of the player's guide from the original AP using Golarion gods and such. I doubt there's anything in here that would be a spoiler.

Yvette was born and raised in Cauldron, but between her upbringing and her family's reputation she often feels socially awkward. Yvette's had people she's grown up with suddenly start mouthing off about how she could be a monster often enough that she won't judge someone just because their granddaddy was an elf or an orc.

Kyranda wrote:

I've got no problem with that as a player, but we'll have to see how Yvette responds.

So DM Choppy...we launching this? :)

Sczarni

who knows.... who knows..

Sczarni

I am giving till 12pm cs t before I drop all together if there is not a post form the gm I will not be checking this board again

You know in America it's a holiday weekend. Most of my games are at a practically nil posting rate right now.

I had the same thought. I'm giving it until Tuesday at six pm.

Gone the way of the dodo, I would guess. Sad.

yep i figured id be nice and give it an extra week, yet still nothing...

As this campaign appears to be in a defacto state of abandoned, I'm popping in to see if there is interest in this same Shackled City campaign, but set in Golarion and using the PathFinder rules. I realize you have all invested some time in creating 3.5 edition characters, and while I do have a rather complete set of 3.5, I'm trying to focus my efforts on learning just a few systems. The differences between 3.5 and PF will probably trip me up every time (I'm much more familiar with the later).

In addition, while I'm a long-time GM, I'm new to PBP. I have recently started another short-scoped adventure, but my ultimate goal is to eventually run either RotRL or Shackled City. As you seem to be a group of players pretty much already organized for purposes of playing towards one of those goals, I might as well seize the opportunity.

My regrets to DM Choppy -- I sincerely hope everything is well with him and his family in real life.

I for one would much rather play using Pathfinder than 3.5.

i could be interested. the character i made here is made according to PF rules under 3rd party publisher Dreamscarred Press's psionic rules update. i could make another one if you like

Perhaps not as much interest as I thought. I may try launching a PF driven Shackled City at some future date. Best of luck to you guys.

they probably stopped checking this board for the most part.

Should story crafter stick his head back in, I would be interested.
