Let's quickly wrap up the game so we are done for Outpost III

I missed anything that happened after my last post (and I'm not sure how many/if any of you saw that so we'll have to continue from after the emergence of the Demon from the portal.

You guys position yourselves how you want on the map and we'll pick it up from there.

Scarab Sages

The maw shudders. It ripples outward, and a hand seems to press against the fabric of reality within it. A rip echoes as the jaws unhinge and break apart. Darkness swirls outward, slowly taking the shape of a humanoid. A red haze marks the outline of the darkness and gives the creature form. The featureless creature floats where the maw once was, taking in its new surroundings.

Someone identified this as a lesser Concavion demon (An medium evil outsider. Which has a few immunities and resistances like most demons do. You don't know which types but you do remember - since specifically asked - that is has an area attack. In this case a 30ft line in case it matters for your positioning)

Keyrock's 's last post included a Mysticism check to try and identify the demon and determine if it had any area affect attacks. I don't recall what the result of the die roll was.

If die roll was lost, the use this:
Mysticism: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

If he knows the demon has an area affect attack:

Keyrock flees, looking for cover.
Double move, 40 ft., following yellow line

If he does not know whether the demon has an area affect attack:

Keyrock repositions behind his ysoki ally, "Form up and let's face this menace like dwarves!"

During the round before the demon emerged, Chikasa had cast Supercharge Weapon on Marbles, then repositioned near the bridge.

Burn glances at Keyrock beside him and nods. Then he focuses on the forming creature. He hefts the sword in his hand.

"When should I hit it?"

Burn's location is perfect. I'm assuming Pam's +1 to AC is still active. Chikasa's also behind the pillar, might be blocked from line of sight. FYI, if that wasn't your intent.

@Burn; as far as I know the boost to AC from Pamatea is her mod in rounds which (unless she happens to have a ability of 20) has ran out by now

Keyrock remembering these type of demons have an line attack decides to take cover while Rinko and Pamatea go for a more strategical position

Captain Marbles is ready with a supercharged weapon courtesy of Chikasa.

Burn waits for the imminent arrival right in front of the strange energy swirls as the demon steps out, slightly disoriented but ready to wreck some carnage.
The demon's body is formed from dark matter and seems to absorb light around it, as though it were a humanoid black hole.
Seeing Burn in front of him it grins before mentioning in a disturbing tone of voice delivered directly into Burns mind through telepathy

Burn swings his sword at the creature's neck, then carefully retreats.

Keyrock draws his puslecaster pistol and attempts to lay down some harrying fire.

Ranged (pulsecaster) v AC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Harrying Fire: You can use your standard action to make a ranged attack that distracts a foe in your line of effect. Make an attack roll against AC 15. If you hit, you deal no damage, but the next ally to attack that foe gains a +2 circumstance bonus to her next attack roll, as long as that attack occurs before your next turn.

Chikasa, still having some trouble getting a clear view of the demon around the pillar, moves to another stalagmite nearby. He presses against the stone and tries to recall anything he knows about concavion demons...

Mysticism: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

If Chikasa can identify any more information about the concavion, he wants to know which resistances it has.

If Concavion does not have resistance to acid:
Chikasa summons a small cloud of nanites that shimmer into existence around his hand before he cocks his arm back and hurls them at the demon. Cast Caustic Conversion
Caustic Conversion vs EAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage (A), harmful spells: 4d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 1) + 2 = 12
Concavion also takes 5 acid damage at the end of its turn for the next 2 rounds

If Concavion has resistance to acid:
Chikasa calls up his mystical UI and summons a pair of bolts of magical energy to hurl at the demon.
Magic Missile, harmful spells: 2d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 + 2 = 10

Caster Level check for either spell in case demon has SR
Caster level: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Scarab Sages

Burn swings his sword at the creature's neck his blade biting deeply into the demon, then Burn carefully retreats but then finds out that the demon is exerting some sort of gravitational pull almost as if it is made of from the same stuff a black hole.
It has an aura which if you end your move within 20ft of the demon it tries to pull you 5ft closer to it. DC 11 fort save to resist.

Pamatea moves up and shoots Burn with a fresh biohack bolstering his defenses.

Rinko once again pulls in a cloud of razor-sharp needles around the being which seems to leak some of it's insides

Keyrock draws his puslecaster pistol and attempts to lay down some harrying fire but fails to properly distract the demon

Chikasa, still having some trouble getting a clear view of the demon around the pillar, moves to another stalagmite nearby. He presses against the stone and tries to recall anything he knows about concavion demons and comes up a story from long ago told by an ancient family member that these sort of demons are Immune tp electricity, poison, radiation and Resistanced to acid 10, cold 10, fire 10

The demon shakes his head as if trying to get rid of some sort of disorientation before it turns its head to Burn as it hovers in the air (and a few drops of it's essence leak out of it) and grins it's creepy smile once more as he telepathically tells Burn
"Don't worry little man, this won't hurt.....long"
as it raises one of it's arms up high and brings it down forcefully trying to slam Burn on the top of his head
To hit KAC Burn: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Rinko feels his connection to the needleverse slipping as he calls forth one last shower of tearing silver around the creature. "This reality is not yours. Depart from it!"

I've had those games. It sucks. This game though, Burn was mostly on fire. He's got a tendency to choke in the big finale though.

As Keyrock successfully manages to distract the demon Pamatea continues to boost the party - one injection at a time.

Burn tries to beat back the creature but he's having some troubles with deciding which of the 2...maybe 3? demons in front of him he's supposed to be hitting. The blows to his head he's been suffering seems to be causing an issue with his brain functions at last.

Then the combined magical forces of Rinko and Chikasa tear it apart and Captain Marbles his shot only hits empty air as a wave of cold energy blazes outwards through the area. You are almost knocked of your feet but manage to stay standing - victorious in the end!.

As you make your way back out of the cave system you reach a point close enough to the surface that your comms can reach the Society Ships flying above the planet once more and when you report in to Venture-Captain Arvin over the comms to inform him on how it went he says:
"I don't know what you did, but all the Cult of the Destroyer ships are leaving the planet and making a run for it. It seems they are leaving the Quolor's alone."

"What did you encounter at the ritual site? And how did you manage to disrupt the ritual?"

In the cave

Chikasa lets out a long whistle as the demon dissolves into magical detritus. "And that there's why ya don't mess with death cults, kiddies."

The elderly ysoki reestablishes the glammer around his rifle, so it once again looks like a wizened staff, and hobbles toward the fallen cultists. He pokes through their things and picks up anything interesting. He then turns his attention to any remnants of the summoning circle or the reagents used for the ritual and makes sure that it is fully destroyed before joining the crew to leave.

Outside

"Well, ya see, Arvin, seems these here cultists were closer to summoning their extraplanar friend than we had imagined. We managed to dissuade a quorlu youngun' from stickin' with 'em, then handled the cultists and a concavion demon they summoned. Got it all cleaned up now. Anythin' else you need us to study around these parts?"

"A Concavion demon you say? I'll have to congratulate you on taking out the threat to the planet and on defeating a formidable opponent then. Well done."

"No, you're done for now. You've all earned a small break"

As you hang up your call with Venture-Captain a bunch of the villagers approach your location and explain that the Quolrlo you convinced to abandon the Cultists made it back home and told them what you've done and they are impressed by your actions and invite you to come back to this planet when ever you want...who knows, maybe one or two of them will join you off-planet at some point

This concludes this series of Quests. Thanks for sticking it out with me and making to the end

That's one of those mistakes I was talking about ;). Copy&paste error I suspect. I do have you reported as Exo so it's just a chronicle error. It should be fixed now.
