PFS should really have critical misses! They're just fun!

The captain steers the ship to shore and Dunbar leads the group to the area he spotted. There on the beach are some sloppily buried gold nuggets and uncut garnets. The Pathfinders gather up the treasure and load it back on the boat and as the Passad and the Dwarven envoy's approach. "Ahh well done, another threat easily handled by out Pathfinder agents. It is quite clear now that the society has sent the right agents for the job." He looks to Ēoswulf, "I've been quite impressed with what I have seen so far and I think it's time we talked business. The Pathfinder Society continues to amaze me, and it seems to me increasingly prudent to enter into a business arrangement that would certainly be to our mutual benefit—particularly for those with an eye for spotting profit. Let me make my case simply: my trade network is growing and already blankets the Inner Sea like no other, and the dwarves cannot hope to compete with the prices I offer. Let us not forget that the Pathfinders have had many mutually profitable business
dealings with me in the past.”
While he is mostly speaking with Ēoswulf feel free to chime in or ask questions.

"OK, good news for us then!"
Back to the business at hand, Geoclunicus chimes in to help Ēoswulf secure a deal.
"I agree, a business arrangement could be mutually beneficial. What did you have in mind?"
I am guessing a diplomacy here is best, as Geo has no Merchant Profession skills, but Sense motive seems appropriate as well.

Mettella clears her throat to get everyone's attention. "Passad may think that he might be the only game in town sometimes, but I assure you there are other options." She says with a smile. “Yes, Temel has his bejeweled fingers in many pies and can offer cheaper wares, but consider the advantages of a business relationship with my mercantile concern: our network is many centuries old, and the quality of our goods is unrivaled." She gives a knowing nod to Dunbar. "Furthermore, an arrangement with a firm with such deep roots in the Five Kings Mountains would reinforce the military alliance the Society is already negotiating.”
You basically have a choice at this point, you may discuss this amongst yourselves or ask Passad or Mettella any questions you might have. No need for rolls, just a choice is required.

"Erm...Both of them sounded really good in their offers...." Fillia offers up, unsure of how a business deal is supposed to go.

"It seems to me that the Society would benefit from dealing with both of you. Are your trade networks somehow mutually exclusive?"

Passad and Mettella look at each other for a moment before Passad speaks. "Perhaps this is your first time making such a deal? Let me explain a bit more. With things going the way they are up at the world wound and the Pathfinders pushing for an expedition into the area we are both looking to set up a contract to supply such efforts. So yes we are separate competitors with our eyes on the same prize. While we are not looking for a signed contract right here and now, we'd like your support when we go to your superiors."

![]() |

"Perhaps you are unaware of the scope of the Society's dealings. I think we can come to an agreement that works for all of us. Metella, your value with the Five Kingdoms will be valuable to the success of the Worldwound missions. Passad, your vast connections would be a great asset to the Exchange, a powerful and wealthy faction within the Society." He smiles and spreads his hands broadly. "And of course, my own clan is looking for me merchants to do business with."
I think I need to make some kind of roll for the Exchange mission. Anyone remember what it is?

We'll take care of the roll later, I'll keep this moving along.
Metella smiles as Ēoswulf explains his proposal. Passad tugs on his beard a bit before nodding, "Not exactly what I had in mind, but I would be a fool to turn down the offer. Even if it is smaller then the one I was expecting."
The rest of the day passes as the Pathfinders and crew move about the boat. Finally near dusk the captain calls out, I think that's the place we are looking for." He points to a pleasant country inn up a hill on the north shore, a small dock offers a berth for the Abacus. The sun tanned Amauhak calls the Pathfinders over. "We will be staying the night here on the ship while you go check out the inn. Again this is not a slash and grab mission. Unless it is absolutely necessary please refrain from committing acts of violence on Razmiri soil. Good luck Pathfinders."
A stone path leads from the dock about 200 yards through some light tree cover to the inn.

As they leave the ship, Ēoswulf looks each of the other pathfinders in the eye. "As he said, avoid violence. We should not strike at anyone unless they first strike one of us." He turns back towards the path "Follow my lead. Remember that you are to be here as my entourage."

As Ēoswulf steps to the main entrance he his a strange guttural yell. Turning to the source of the noise he see's a boy jogging over from what looks to be the stables. The boy makes a few unrecognizable sounds along with a few gestures before opening the Inn's door for the Pathfinders.
Dark oaken tables, chairs and benches fill this comfortable, L-shaped common room, and the faint odors of tobacco and ale permeate the air. Narrow windows with panes of smoked glass along the north and south walls allow some light into this welcoming space. At the center most table sits a old matronly woman dressed in peasants clothing and an apron. Her Voluminous white hair is piled atop her head and secured in a conservative bun. "Greetings and welcome to the Gray Revelation Inn. My name is Addas Grymble, are you looking for a room for the night?"

Ēoswulf wrinkles his forehead, a little confused at first, but at Maximos's message understanding comes over his face. "Aye, thanks boy." He walks into the common room and offers a simple bow to the woman.
"Indeed! I am Ēoswulf, son of Gērmwyn, and I am here to extend my family's network of trade. My companions," he gestures to the party "and I may be here for at least a few days."
"Although we have been traveling and would like to rest, I'm rather anxious to begin. My father always said to never put off to the sunrise what can be done before the sunset!" He smiles.
