THIS IS A JUST A REPOST OF THE CHARECTOR CREATION RULES AND NOT A RECRUITMENT UNLESS YOU WERE TOLD TO COME HERE.
Charector creation -
Level 1 charectors -
HP:: is max at level 1, as you level its 1/2+1+con bonus or your roll whichever is higher. 2 trait unless you choose to take a drawback, then you may take 1 more.
CLasses:: Core,Base,Hybrid
Races allowed - Core and Featured races preferred if you have something more exotic ask away I wont promise a yes answer but I will think about it. :)
Stats - Stats will done this way.
Chose two main stats, two normal stats, and two sub stats.
Main and normal stats start at 10, sub stats start at 14
For your main stats roll and add 2d4.
For your Normal stats +1d6.
for your Sub stats - Subtract 1d6.
So in example Our Heroine Dharkhantia chooses as her main stats DEX and STR Her Normal stats as CON and WIS, and her Sub stats as INT and CHR
so
Str: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 1) = 14
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
Int: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10
Wis: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
Chr: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (2) = 12
Then add your racials. If for whatever reason you absolutely hate your rolls you may try a second time and keep the one you like.
Wealth Starting Wealth will be max.
When you are finished with your charector Feel free to post in the recruitment an intro post at the Silver Chalice tavern. A background story on how you met Colewin (or one of the other listed NPC's) is nice, as well as why you want to be a Silver Shield.
Posting Rate - I would like to shoot for at least once a day, but sometimes life happens.

I'm thinking an Ulfen Viking, aiming for the Furious Guardian/Ulfen Guard prestige class. He aims to make a name for himself as a great warrior and perhaps end up in the Ulfen Guard in Oppara, or find another route to returning to the Lands of the Linnorm Kings with wealth and glory.
A question, would campaign traits be acceptable? I'm thinking perhaps from "reign of winter" and the like.
Main stats: Str, Dex
Normal stats: Con, Int
Sub stats: Wis, Cha
Str: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (1) = 11
Int: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
Wis: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (6) = 8
Cha: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (3) = 11
I will take you up on the offer to reroll, as those are pretty grim.
Str: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (1, 4) = 15
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 2) = 15
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
Int: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (2) = 12
Wis: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (6) = 8
Cha: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10
Better! I hope to have the character ready for the weekend.
DM The nines |
Depending on the campaign trait I would tentively say yes. Just for ease of entering the story wise, just in your backstory have some reason as to why you might be a part of the Silver Shields Mercenary orginization working out of Macridi in Druma.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with. :)
STR: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15
DEX: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 4) = 17
CON: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (2) = 12
INT: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (5) = 15
WIS: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13
CHR: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (2) = 12
You can take your second roll or mine which ever you would prefer.
Zardu Zuul |
Since the Silver Shields is the group all the PCs are part of and fairly good lot would it be possible for him to take Defender of Society? https://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/combat-traits/defender-of-the-society-fight er-pathfinder-society/
It's a very good trait for fighters so worth asking if he's an established member.
Decimus Observet |
I'm getting there with my viking. :)
Just to confirm, are either background skills alternate rules, or feat tax house rules in effect?
Gudleifr Hervardr |
Gudleifr stood in front of the Silver Chalice. While walking around Macridi had been quite the experience, with so much wealth on display, he was running low on gold, even paying in kind as a sailing hand.
And besides, he was here to go well, not just survive.
Gudleifr stands 6' 2" and broad with blue eyes, all typical of the Ulfen. His boiled leather armour with armour trim, longspear and spiked iron shield are not uncommon among them. His black hair is an oddity for those familiar with his people. He wears this hair in thick braids, both scalp and beard. The perceptive will quickly realise that he is swifter than he appears, both in body and mind.
And he is walking into the inn. The chance meeting with the halfling Colewin on his walk around town had set him to try here. With a name like "The Silver Shields", perhaps they would suit him and his proclivity for defense. Perhaps.
DM The nines |
One of the group needs to bow out for personal reasons this is now open recruitment for an arcane type caster. Charector creation rules are posted up top.
I dont have a deadline for charector creation will liable to take the first good submission (or two im pretty flexible) so as to not keep the group waiting.
Thanks!
Zinar |
Character is almost done, just need spells and back ground story.
My back ground story is going to be weak sorry, I can not find anything about the silver shields or the halfling that I should know. So I am just going to make something up out of my butt.
And Just to see what my rolls could be:
STR: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13
DEX: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 1) = 14
CON: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
INT: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 3) = 16
WIS: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (1) = 11
CHA: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (3) = 11
I will stick with my first roll
DM The nines |
If you click under the campaign info blurb Zinar there is a list of the important NPC members. You could use one of the others if you prefer.
Im huge on good backstories, BUT I also understand in this situation it can be a bit chaotic to work up a great one. You just need a reason as to why you are here with these mercenaries. I'll send you a message on how you get to the group :)
DM The nines |
Hello everyone lost a few members in the group looking to round up at least two more. The group has most of the bases covered with a viking warrior, a drow hunter, a human warpriest and a gnome wizard so everythings pretty open up. A good skill based charector or someone skilled in traps might be helpful but totally not required. Any questions feel free to ask. Recruitment will run til oh about the 14th of December.
Charector creation -
Level 2 charectors -
HP:: is max at level 1, as you level its HP
if your Hit die is a d6 - you may reroll 1's or 2's
If your hit die is a d8 - you may reroll 1's, 2's, or 3's
If your hit die is a d10,d12 you may reroll 1,2,3,or 4's
CLasses:: Core,Base,Hybrid

Wealth Starting Wealth will be 1st level max + 250.
Posting Rate - I would like to shoot for at least once a day, but sometimes life happens.
As far as a background goes all I require is why you are a junior member of the Silver shields. Feel free to take a gander in the campaign tab for a list of major npcs. Any of those can be a link, or you could just make up how you belong to a mercenary group ran by a paladin.
Ellioti |
not sure yet. Have to read up in the gameplay thread to see, if I'm interested. But here are the rolls that I'd be working with. I have a concept for a LG blind fighter from a Vildeis academy. Probably Unarmed Fighter 2 / Oracle (clouded vision curse) rest
STR: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15
DEX: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
CON: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
INT: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10
WIS: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (6) = 8 that's a bummer
CHA: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 4) = 17
incandescant |
I'd be interested in playing a skill monkey Unchained Rogue. Thinking of a rogueish mercenary who lives by a code (LN) that puts his life at the top of his priority list, followed by profit. Friends and relations come after that. He likes to get up close and personal with his short blades and is skilled in the standard Rogueish talents.
Str: 10 - 1d6 ⇒ 10 - (5) = 5
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 4) = 16
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (2) = 12
Int: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
Wis: 10 - 1d6 ⇒ 10 - (4) = 6
Cha: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
What utter garbage... a 2nd attempt
Str: 10 - 1d6 ⇒ 10 - (3) = 7
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
Int: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 3) = 16
Wis: 10 - 1d6 ⇒ 10 - (3) = 7
Cha: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
Not awesome for a Rogue either... interesting. Maybe I'd be better with a less MAD class, perhaps a Witch? Or an Unchained Summoner?
I won't have time to create a character for a couple of days (have an in-person game to run) but once my character is created I'd be available to post regularly.

You loosely rolled wrong. :)
for the low end stats you start with 14 and subtract a 1d6 not from ten.
so your top stats would be a STR of 9 and a wisdom of 10
your body stats would be a STR of 11 and a wisdom of 11
You did seem to have a bit of badluck on those rolls, if you wanted to say switch your dex with either your INT, CON, or CHR on the second set im okay with that.
Ravboom |
Hmm, let's see :
Int: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (1, 3) = 14
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
Wis: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (2) = 12
Cha: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10
Str: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10
Int: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 4) = 18
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
Wis: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
Cha: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13
Str: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (1) = 13
Hmm, yeah, second set looks like the way to go. :P
Would you be ok with an Oversized Deep Goblin as his race? Basically a medium sized goblin (+2 Str, +2 Dex, -2 Cha, 120 ft darkvision, +5 climb) which replaces the normal stat bonuses and modifies the normal darkvision and adds the climb to the goblin base. It doesn't add much to the RP cost of Goblins, and keeps them still in line with other races costs.
Rav would be a savage technologist, basically a gunslinging barbarian goblin.
EDIT : Maybe switch WIS and CON rolls, since the 14 would do more good in CON.
incandescant |
incandescantYou loosely rolled wrong. :)
Oh, I am stupid. Thanks for this! The second set with corrected STR and WIS and a swap of CHR<->DEX would actually be a decent Rogue array.
Str: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (3) = 11
Dex: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (6) = 16
Int: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 3) = 16
Wis: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (3) = 11
Cha: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 1) = 13
As above it will take me a couple of days, but I'll work on a Human Rogue (Unchained) 2 with those stats.
natloz |
Still taking applicants? It looks like you have plenty of skill based submissions so far. In trying not to step on anyone's toes, I've decided to try for a human cleric of abadar using law and travel as the domains. Everyone likes an extra healer.
Stats: main are Wis and Cha. Normal are str and con. Sub are dex and int.
Roll 1
Wis: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (1, 2) = 13
cha: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15
str: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (2) = 12
con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (3) = 13
dex: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (2) = 12
int: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (3) = 11
Roll 2
Wis: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (2, 3) = 15
Cha: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 1) = 15
str: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (2) = 12
con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14
dex: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (5) = 9
int: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (3) = 11
DM The nines |
Still taking applicants. Probably up till the 14th.
As to the type of entrants post what you want to play really, just figured a skilled sort or trapfinder would be useful though not entirely necessary. :)
Oversized deep goblin? Im tentively okay with it as long as you have a decent reason as to why you are working with a mercenary group ran by a paladin.
Ravboom |
If I go the investigator route, I'll probably only do the Deep, rather than oversized. Oversized Deep Goblin only makes sense for a gunslinger/savage technologist type (that whole take a feat to use large firearms thing). Given the need for skill characters/rogues, I think the investigator would be better.
As to why Rav would be working with a mercenary group, that's easy, he's greedy-ish as lots of goblins are. Given he'd be either NN or NG, I'm not seeing any reason he wouldn't work for a Paladin. Paladin's make good employers, generally. They keep their word, they don't throw you under the wagon wheels, they don't lie to you. All in all, a good arrangement.
Growing up, Rav knew he was smarter than the other goblins. That was fairly easy to spot early on. In fact, he was almost certainly the smartest goblin he'd ever met. Indeed, he'd so far not met anyone who was smarter than he was, no matter what the race.
His tribe of deep goblins were led by an oversized and lard-assed idiot named 'Goro Mojo'. Goro detested anyone smarter than him, so Rav avoided him as much as possible. This gave him a healthy sense of when to duck and cover or when to run. While growing up, he spent most of his time out on scout duty, or on prisoner watch detail. It was here he first started to learn longshank languages. One particular longshank he spent a great deal of time with over a couple of years was an odd old elf with grey hair who meditated a lot and exercised in confinement. The old elf was a monk-sage, who had picked up a lot of skills, including alchemy. The old sage was not killed by the tribe because he was useful, making alchemical fire (Goblins loved alchemical fire!).
Old Elastrian was shocked to find a goblin with an intellect superior to his own, and he encouraged it, even cajoling the goblin into the forbidden and teaching him to read and write in secret. Eventually, after a couple of years, Rav decided that he was tired of avoiding Goro Mojo every time the chief got annoyed (which was all the time). The next time Goro Mojo decided to beat the uppity smart goblin, Rav shoved a couple of oversized alchemical fire bottles down the chief's pants, and then kicked him in the nads and broke open the bottles.
While the rest of the tribe was trying to put out the fire in Goro's pants (at his very loud orders to do so post haste), Rav and Elastrian left with enough of the tribe's meager treasures to get them on their way.
When they reached the surface, a truly strange experience for Rav, Elastrian took to teaching the goblin about the surface world, and introduced him to an old friend, Braendar StoneShield. Braendar was a high muckety-muck with the Silver Shields, and Elastrian convinced his old friend that the goblin was a good hire, with basically a mercenary outlook on life who was smart enough to know what side of the bread his butter was on (Rav loved bread and butter once introduced to them!).
Rav is a new recruit with the Silver Shields now, and will be assigned to a squad soon.
Let me know if the background needs to be tweaked, but I think it should work?

Finally after a few days I present for your consideration, Doran Ramiro, cleric of Abadar. He's coming in as an older gentleman but still has some vigor left in him.
HP roll(s):
1d8 ⇒ 6
Doran was once a vigorous young man making his way in Macridi as a logger. He made his way felling the trees designated by the fey and the leadership of the town. This lead to somewhat of a relationship with some of the forest creatures who liked to tease him with riddles and word games. He eventually met his love in town and they married but had no children. As he grew older his strength waned as did his suitability to chop down trees. He still went into the forest on occasion to spar with his fey friends until one trip they all seemed apologetic for reasons he couldn't understand. Upon his return home he found his wife had fallen ill. Unfortunately the wealth he had accumulated couldn't buy the healing needed to cure her and she eventually passed away.
Doran became depressed for a while before turning to the church of Abadar in town. There he talked with the priests and reflected on their teachings in order to deal with his wife's death. His talks with the priests sometimes turned to debating law and different interpretations. He found his early games with the fey had trained him for such discussions. This realization put a spring in his step he hadn't experienced since his youth. Unbeknownst to him, this was actually Abadar smiling down on him. He stayed with the lawyers and the judges listening and learning and developing his appreciation of Abadar. He eventually heard the call of Abadar to become a full fledged cleric but his gifts seemed to be influenced by his experiences early in life with the fey. He was happy enough being a lawyer but his fey influences gave his a wanderlust that was not sated in town. He was referred to the Silver Shields as a way to get out town while not having to travel alone. It helped that Colewin Binderbook was still a friend through Abadar.
