Don't you know that you're Mom? You're not allowed to be sick.
In all seriousness, don't neglect yourself.
And don't give it to me. :(

Don't you know that you're Mom? You're not allowed to be sick.
Ha! That's truth, right there. I never get the time to rest. Too much to do, and too many others to care for.
Hope you are doing better Ashlyn!
My kids still have a bit of a cough, and I'm exhausted and overly emotional, but we're fine now. Thanks!

I'm gonna blame this one on the fact that I recently just got promoted to f/t and clearly lost track of a task I meant to do...
So, fervor now climbs to 2d6, which means I'd have had to spend 4d6 in healing, but should now be at full health.

Sidenote about this hag. Presuming we win, we should keep her head around or w/e to ask her questions with Speak with Dead later on. Our characters are decently close to being of a sufficient level for that and she probably knows things we need to know. I'm not interested in a live hag captive, though.

Has anyone in here played or run much of War for the Crown? I'm getting ready to run Tomb of the Iron Medusa for some friends in a face-to-face game and was thinking about resetting that module to a time during the Taldan civil war. I think I understand what the implications for that would be, but I'd like to poke the brain of someone that's more familiar with the AP.
Aurelian Fache |
Wait, you guys are in Brainiac's Part 1 of that? I can't believe how far you've gotten.
I'm in the GM's second table of that game and am loving it (we're I think about to finish up the second module). I can't wait to read the modules but don't want to spoil myself anymore than I sort of already have.

I've been following your progress and can't believe how slow you've been :P And you haven't even done everything in the second module :P :P but yes, you are about to finish. It's fun reading yours and seeing how you deal with problems differently to us - luring Guisarne out is a good plan.
I think we pulled ahead of you under the senate and since our pace has been somewhat break-neck at places we just keep on rolling. Tettia and I are married and everything! :D
re. Iron Medusa: I wouldn't change the timing too much. Without spoilers there's a moment at the end of book 4 in WotC that relies directly on what happens in Tomb of the Iron Medusa and the knowledge found there being suppressed for quite a while. So set it during Stavian's reign sure, but earlier. If you want to make it intrigue-y perhaps directly after Prince Carrius dies? That way the noble sponsor could still be eyeing up the throne but more in a 'what happens when the emperor dies?' way, than a 'I want the throne NOW' kinda way.
Feel free to PM me if you want specifics - I've played and run both so I'm reasonably up to date on the implications :D
Will post today, just not sure when - its busy right now!

I'm actually very pleased at our pace (or was initially), though I think even I've slowed down some since I switched to days. We had a couple players who really disappeared, to the point I finally said something about it (I was actually going to refer to your game, but the other two active players said I shouldn't, because you guys are setting a crazy pace).

FYI, I'll be gone for much of the next two weeks. I'm in Miami from Wednesday through Monday, after which I'll try to check back into all my games. I'll then be gone to PaizoCon from Thursday through late Monday. I don't expect to check in at all during that time except Monday-Wednesday when I'm back home.
Obviously feel free to bot me; I hope you know how Aurelian plays by now. For the current fight, my plan is to circle around and up the stairs and handle the hag (famous last words).

I was poking around today and getting ahead of myself a bit, but I guess I'll ask anyway for clarification. Before, you mentioned that we had other locations we could've gone instead of straight up the tower into the hag's territory at low level. I went back to look at what locations we'd seen so far and this is what I came up with (top of page 35 in Gameplay):
Red Trees - we avoided this before, but assuming we don't find any prisoners to rescue on a finishing exploration of the tower/island, it wouldn't be a bad idea to investigate the nasty trees and possibly clear this area out.
Unexplored Cave - Jenner saw this and I don't imagine he doesn't need much of an excuse to explore a cave.
Building Crumbling into the sea - Tettia saw this and took an interest, although apparently not enough to distract us from charging into our possibly botched rescue mission.
Separately, just by looking at the map I noticed that there's another landmass to the southwest of Talmandor's Bounty. Should we assume that we can see that? (lol getting us into Book 4 trouble or something with that question probably)
---
There were also the Pathfinder Caver missions (see page 29 for the original):
Abandoned Ulfen Settlement
Waterfall Cave
Sunken Laboratory
Crystal Monument
Ancient Observatory - the notes Carver has mention an orrery, so I think we're already inside this location
---
Also, because it came up when I was looking at old posts, I'll note that the island we're on is called Ancorato.
Sarine Dulciare |
We're doing OK at -1 level. Why would -7 be a problem? lol
It does raise more of a question, though. When we first started, I'd assumed that we were landing on a main continent of Azlant. What do we know about our current location from prior knowledge and/or observation? Is there a main continent for Azlant at all? Is it nearby? Is Ancorato part of an island chain? Just some context for the location of Talmandor's Bounty would be nice.
"Go find out (at an appropriate level)," is a fine answer if our characters wouldn't know.
GM Nikolaus 'the Grimm' |
The vast majority of Azlant is gone - completely submerged. The various islands such as Ancorato are what remains above the ocean. Go deep enough you could find everything, as it is the only bits in reach are the isolated highland type areas. So as far as you're concerned/is possible you are in Azlant.

Peeking in while on vacation, I think Aurelian parried that disfiguring touch, and potentially critted on the riposte.

Just a heads up to everyone. I'll be at Kublacon this coming weekend (Thursday through Monday). I'll have internet access, but I'm not sure how much free time I'll have to post. If I know me, I'll still try to get out at least a post a day if it's warranted, but ... *shrugs*.

Ku-blah KHAN! Ku-blah KHAN!
(Miss that con, maybe next year)
Been going for over ten years. This year events were conspiring to keep us from it, but it's been resolved. Woo-hoo!
Although, we've got a smaller number of us going this year. :(

OK, I've had my chat about the Iron Medusa thing I mentioned earlier with our helpful GM. If I'm going to make it work, however, I need a team of enemy NPC dungeon explorers!
We're looking to challenge a set of four L14 PCs that have a Warpriest and a Bard, enough to give them a warm-up. The region is Taldor, but feel free to throw in an outside mercenary or two to give the group some flavor. I could even see them including a Whispering Way cultist or something like that.
The enemy team isn't looking to fight the PCs and they should be largely kitted out for dungeon exploring.
Any ideas that people want to toss in?
Aurelian Fache |
I'm a big fan of using swashbucklers to challenge foes. I think too often players can mow through enemies, and that parry/riposte really throws 'em for a loop. Feel free to steal Aurelian for that purpose (I think he could certainly make a fun antagonist)!
Getting ready to leave again, for PaizoCon. I'll be back Tuesday.
Sarine Dulciare |
I finished up that party I had in mind. Vs a set of four L14 PCs I have:
L13 unchained summoner
L13 archery slayer
L11 cleric of Asmodeus (fire & trickery)
two L11 fighters
L11 Whispering Way necromancer
Swashbuckler wasn't a bad idea, but I didn't go with it.
Depending on how well/quickly the party approaches them, I have a list of pre-buffing for the enemies to do. Probably about 44 spell levels worth.
Sarine Dulciare |
I ran the encounter that I mentioned above. Somewhat like I expected: two of my players are good at min-maxing and it didn't matter what I brought to the table...the PC numbers were just too big. A swashbuckler wouldn't have made a difference.
Incidentally, though, I decided that the fire/trickery domains of the Asmodean cleric were a pretty cool combination. On a character with real stats & gear, they'd be a lot more compelling. Maybe for a Hell's Vengeance campaign or something like that.

Random side note: I just realized we have a cloak of the manta ray on our loot list. No one claimed that?
Tettia Tuditanus |
Tettia would be interested in the cloak - magic items thrill her to no end. :) However, the extra attack it provides would be completely wasted with her. So Aurelian should get first dibs on it. If he chooses to defer to a lady (and someone tells her about it), she'll take it.
