Background - Avid Researcher:
After being discovered one too many times in the restricted section of the Kitharodian Academy library, you were encouraged very firmly to take a leave of absence from the Academy. After several encounters with mysterious igures near your residence in Oppara, you decided to leave town with Silas Gribb's caravan. While on this forced sabbatical, you haven't abandoned your research into eldritch subject matter. Choose two ability boosts. One must be to Constitution or Intelligence, and the other is a free ability boost. You're trained in the Occultism skill, and the Library Lore skill. You gain the Schooled in Secrets skill feat. ~~~~~
Class - Wizard:
You are an eternal student of the arcane secrets of the universe, using your mastery of magic to cast powerful and devastating spells. You treat magic like a science, cross-referencing the latest texts on practical spellcraft with ancient esoteric tomes to discover and understand how magic works. Yet magical theory is vast, and there’s no way you can study it all. You either specialize in one of the eight schools of magic, gaining deeper understanding of the nuances of those spells above all others, or favor a broader approach that emphasizes the way all magic comes together at the expense of depth. Intro/Background:
As her sister walked into the library, Tettia shoved the book she'd been looking at back onto the shelf. "There you are, Teddy. Mother's looking for you," Tettia's sister, Taldera exclaimed as she shut the door to the hall behind her. Taldera was the mirror image of her twin sister. Tall, but not tall enough to raise eyebrows, slender and shapely enough to attract admirers. Although where Tettia's curly blond locks always hung loose and wild, Taldera's hair was held back neatly and styled in the latest fashion. Also, her dress was a pale blue while Tettia's was darker. "Please don't tell me she's right behind you?" Tettia said with apprehension while watching the door. "Please. She sent me to find you while she yells at the cook. Why are you so nervous? They're not announcing the engagement until tomorrow. It's just dinner tonight." Tettia wrung her hands together. "I don't know if I can go through with it, Toddy." "Dinner?" "The engagement." "Is this because they didn't announce our engagements at the same time?" Taldera said, waving her hand dismissively. "You know they couldn't do that - it would be gauche. They had to announce mine first, after all, I'm the oldest." "By seven minutes," Tettia snarked with a roll of her eyes. This was obviously a practiced banter. "That's still older." Tettia stuck her tongue out at her older sibling. Taldara responded with crossed eyes. "No. It's not that. I just ... I don't want to get married," Tattia said after the smiles faded. "I'm happy for you. I really am, but that's not what I want." "Teddy, you can't just be a student for the rest of your life. I know you've excelled at almost every subject you've tackled," Taldara began. "You're just not going to let it go that I can't cook, are you?" Tettia said with a frown. "But now it's time to become an adult," Taldara continued, ignoring Tettia's interruption. "You've spent six years at university and you still have no marketable skills to speak of, you need to get married." Tettia eyed the door nervously. "I'm ... uh ... I'm not a student at university any more," she whispered quietly. "You quit!? Why would you ...?" Taldara exclaimed in voice that most likely carried. "Hush!" Tettia replied, waving her sister to lower her voice. Still looking nervously at the door, she walked back to the bookshelf and removed the book she was examining. From within its pages, she pulled a folded letter. Without a word she returned to her sister and presented the parchment. The woman took the parchment suspiciously, unfolded it and began to read. "'Dear Miss Tuditanius ... regret to inform you ... due to ... unauthorized entrance ... Kitharodian Academy ... repeated violations?'." The looked up accusingly to which Tettia simply shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. Toddy returned her attention to the letter. [b]"... only option remaining ... expulsion ... leave the city within forty-eight hours ...'." Taldara looked up at her sister. "This letter is dated yesterday, Teddy!" she said in disbelief. "What are we going to do?" "Shhhh!" Tettia hissed, snatching the letter back. "I know that. And I ... There's a caravan that I've contacted and they're heading out tomorrow morning." "You're ... you're leaving? You're leaving me ... us?" "Oh Toddy!" Tettia said, wrapping her arms around her twin. "I have to go. This is my chance. I'll finally be able to see all those things I've read about. And when I'm done, I'll come back and settle down and ... and fit into whatever role Mother wants me to play." Taldara sniffs as tears begin filling her eyes. "But Mother will never let you go." Tettia leans back to look her sister in the eye. "Only if she knows about it. And you and I are the only ones who do." "But if the caravan leaves tomorrow morning, don't you need to pack or ... get things for the trip ... Mother won't give you any money for that sort of thing and you won't have time to ... Teddy you can't go." The library door opened with a squeak of hinges and Tettia grabbed the letter from her sister and shoved it under a nearby cushion. "Tettia? Taldara?" the stern woman questioned as she stepped in. "There you are, girls. Come along now. Dinner is beginning and there's no time for dawdling. Taldara? What's going on with your face? Fix it." Taldara reached up to wipe the brimming tears from her eyes and looked at her sister. Tettia returned her gaze with pleading eyes. "Teddy was teasing me because my engagement was before hers," she says with another sniff. She looked at her sister with meaning. "In fact I'm very angry with her and I don't want her at dinner. I think she can find something more productive to do then to tease me." The Lady Tuditanus rolled her eyes in annoyance at her daughters behavior. "We don't have time for such juvenile histrionics. Tettia, why don't you go over the seating plans for tomorrow's engagement dinner," she said . "I've sent them to your room. Finish them up and show you can accomplish something worthwhile for a change." "Yes, Mother," Tettia said, looking at her sister. "Taldara, come along. We don't want to keep the guests waiting." "Yes, Mother. I'll be along in a moment." The Lady gave a very unladylike harummph and left, shutting the door behind her. "Now you have tonight to prepare," Teldara said as tears filled her eyes again. "But I don't have any ... " Taldara reached out and put her finger on her sister's lips. She then reached up and removed the necklace with pale green stones from from around her neck. "Richard gave this to me. He said it complimented my eyes," she said as she placed the necklace in her sister's hands. "But ... but your eyes are blue." "Thank you for that oh-so-clever observation," Taldara responded, a hint of an edge entering her voice. "But it might do you some good. It should be worth a bit of coin. Perhaps enough to make sure you're outfitted appropriately." "Toddy, I can't take ... " "Shhh... " Taldara said as she leans forward and places a kiss on her sister's forehead. "Just stay safe and come back to me." She then turned and, without a glance back, exited the library.
Appearance:
Teddy stands a slender 5' 8" tall. She leaves her curly blond hair loose, so is constantly pushing it out of her face to reveal her pale blue eyes. She's dressed in dark blue skirt pants and a similarly colored loose blouse. She carries a well-made backpack and an expensive quarterstaff that she just manages not to bang into things as she walks.
