Special Qualities: Dragon's Flight (30' fly (Average), 3 min/day), Share Spells, Empathic Link, Speak with Master, Manifest Dream (Skilled - Perception & Stealth)
SPECIAL
Dragon's Flight - The familiar can sprout draconic wings, granting it a fly speed of 30 feet with average maneuverability for a number of minutes per day equal to 1/2 your caster level (minimum 1). These minutes need not be consecutive, but they must be spent in 1-minute increments. At 10th level, the familiar’s fly speed increases to 60 feet with good maneuverability. At 20th level, the familiar’s fly speed increases to 90 feet.
Dazzling Intellect - A sage's Intelligence score is always equal to 5 + its level, but the sage gains the additional natural armor increases of a familiar only half its level.
Sage's Knowledge (Ex): A sage stores information on every topic and is happy to lecture its master on the finer points of a subject. A sage can attempt all Knowledge checks untrained and gains a bonus on Knowledge checks equal to half its master's class level. Additionally, a sage gains 2 skill ranks each time its master gains a class level. Its maximum number of ranks in any given skill is equal to its master's class level. This replaces alertness and the familiar's ability to share its master's skill ranks.
Recurring Dream - A figment has a total number of hit points equal to 1/4 the master's total hit points. If the figment dies, it vanishes, appearing again with 1 hit point after its master awakens from a full night's sleep. If a figment ever strays more than 100' from its master, a figment enters an antimagic field, or a figment's master is rendered unconscious or asleep, the figment disappears until the next time its master prepares spells or regains spells per day. Because it is a being of its master's own mind, a figment can never serve as a witch's familiar, and it can't use any divination spells or spell-like abilities it may possess.
Manifest Dreams (su) – At 3rd level, a figment is shaped by its master's dreams. Each time the master awakens from a full night's rest, he can apply to the figment 1 evolution point's worth of eidolon evolutions that don't have a base form requirement. At 7th level, he can apply 2 points worth of eidolon evolutions; at 13th level, he can apply 3 points worth of eidolon evolutions.

Background Summary:
While still a child, Sarine Elsiria Dulciare came into contact with a mysterious artifact that tainted her, granting her strength and draconic power, but also a sense that her destiny is not her own. She also acquired a mysterious cat familiar that seems intent on driving her toward the purposes of the dragon whose power she bears (in spite of her extensive efforts to kill it). Led to believe that Azlanti ruins might grant her some clues into her condition, Sarine sought out a spot on the Peregrine.

Extended Background:
“You shall be the instrument of my revenge,” the voice thundered through her soul, stripping away all reason. Standing on the precipice of a mighty glacier, she staggered back as a mighty wind tore at her limbs and froze her flesh. Through a gaping wound in the clouds above, she saw a mighty dragon with blinding white scales stare at her insignificant form as it roared.

She screamed as she fell backward and landed on a pile of nets. The smell of brine and fish filled her senses. She was in the hold of a ship, lit dimly by the light of a candle placed on a crate nearby. Suddenly exhausted, she gasped for air as she lay back on the smelly pile of rope as her mind returned to her by degrees.

Her name was Sarine Elsiria Dulciare. She was ten years old, the daughter of the Andoren Consul Jaromus Dulciare. Her mother was Evette Sarithia Dulciare, an exiled noblewoman from Cheliax. She was not on the edge of a glacier facing death from a magnificent dragon. She was aboard the Wind Song, a privateer vessel that had business with her father. But what was that...was it a vision? Why was she down here?

The crystal ball.

Sarine pushed herself off the nets to sit upright. When she had entered the hold of the Wind Song, there had been a strange orb sitting on top of a statue of a cat. It was glowing with an inner light and she had touched it...where was it now? Still feeling weakened, Sarine struggled to her feet and pushed her hair out of her face to find herself facing a white cat sitting on the floor of the hold next to the shattered remnants of a crystal ball.

Sarine Elsiria Dulciare was in so much trouble.

Four years later...

Demon Cat licked himself. It was a mundane activity for a demon, but he did it frequently. Sarine had decided a long time ago that Demon Cat was not a very good demon. Four years had passed since their first encounter in the hold of the Wind Song, and Sarine knew a few things about Demon Cat for sure.

The first thing Sarine knew about Demon Cat was that he was evil. He hadn't admitted it when she asked him directly, of course. Who would admit to being evil just because someone asked them? That didn't make sense, and he didn't speak anyway. It was more like he felt things at her. He hadn't denied that he was evil, in any case, and he was evil. That was that. She was sure of it. Some of the things she felt him pushing her to do were definitely not proper for a young Andoren lady. Maybe for a pirate or a brigand, but she was not one of those things.

The second thing that Sarine knew about Demon Cat was that he had made her strong. Really strong. She hadn't realized it at first. No proper young Andoren lady goes pushing heavy carts around just for fun, after all. That is what house servants were for. Her first clue about what Demon Cat had done came when a boy had played a lightharted prank on her: all in good fun. A proper young Andoren lady would have, at most, slapped the boy playfully for his trespass and he would have run off to chuckle about it with his friends. Sarine had punched him instead. She broke his face. Sarine had liked that boy. Sarine was still mad at Demon Cat for that one, and had told him so.

The third thing that Sarine knew about Demon Cat, from extensive experience, was that he wouldn't die properly.

Keeping her emotions even to avoid alerting the creature, she swung a metal pipe down on the cat's body, crushing his bones with a sickening snap before following it up with a second swing aimed at the animal's head–just to be sure. Demon Cat was evil, but she didn't want him to suffer, after all. A proper young Andoren lady wouldn't do such a thing. Being strong sure came in handy, though.

Sarine looked about the small sitting garden to see if her attacks had drawn anyone's attention, but no one else was present. She moved Demon Cat's body to a basket she had brought for this purpose, adding in the murder weapon and smoothing out the divots in the lawn that her strikes had left. Then she rose and carried the corpse into a small grove of trees by the stream and unceremoniously threw Demon Cat's body into one of the holes she had dug for him before covering him with dirt using a shovel she kept in the secluded grove. Her tutors would be looking for her shortly.

The fourth thing that Sarine knew about Demon Cat is that no one would believe her if she told them the truth. She had tried before, certainly. Most people thought she was just playing make believe, even though she was far too old for that at fourteen years old. The priestess of Iomedae had taken her words quite seriously at first, until she found out that Sarine's demon was a cat. That always threw people off for some reason. Frustratingly, the woman had cast some sort of spell that she said would determine if the cat was evil and another to determine whether it was magical and had said that it wasn't either one. Demon Cat was a sneaky creature.

The remainder of Sarine's day passed uneventfully. Her tutors were still stupid.

The next morning, Sarine opened her eyes and saw Demon Cat looking down at her from his perch on her window sill. The emotion coming from him was contemplative. “Good morning, Socks,” she called out to him. The white cat did not have coloring on his paws and hated being called “Socks.” She smiled as she felt his resentment.

Five years later...

“I hope this is what you wanted,” Sarine told Demon Cat as he prowled along the railing of the Peregrine. “I spent a lot of money to get us here, and we'll be gone for a long time. If you had me get on the ship because it looked like a nice sunny spot, I'm going to be cross with you.” The sensation coming back from Demon Cat was of satisfaction, although it was difficult to determine why the creature felt that way. “Alright then. Just be aware that you are in the ship's registry as my familiar, but I told them that if you are any trouble they can throw you overboard. It would be novel to watch someone else kill you.”

Nine years had passed since Sarine touched the crystal ball in the hold of the Wind Song. Though she had tried to escape it in her own juvenile ways, it had shaped who she had become. Only in the last few years had she even attempted to understand what had happened to her on that day. Tainted with draconic power and driven toward some unknown end, it was hard to feel that she was in control of her destiny. She was an Andoren citizen and a free person under Common Rule, however. She refused to believe herself a slave to some long-dead wyrm. She would find a way to beat this thing and, if possible, take the power for herself.

Fragments of memory not her own had led her to believe that the artifact she had touched was related to some long-dead empire, and in the course of investigating the matter further she learned that she knew the Azlanti language intuitively. Slowly the pieces came together to form an imperfect picture: whatever dragon had tainted her with its power had something to do with the lost empire of ancient Azlant. It was embarassingly little to go on, but it was what she had.

News of the effort to found the colony of Talmandor's Bounty had come to Sarine well before it reached the public: her father had been opposed to the motion and ranted about it on the nights he could make it home for dinner. Sarine, however, had known that this was her chance to get close to Azlanti ruins and to discover her destiny. Her father was displeased with her decision to join the fledgling colony, but she was an adult now: under Common Rule, even the mighty Consul could do little to stop a recalcitrant daughter.

A long journey lay ahead with dangers aplenty and little chance of success. Sarine Elsiria Dulciare couldn't wait.
