"Alright! Party train," Gallix exclaims as he rises from his seat. "And it's a costume party to commemorate the siege? Cool. I gotta go see a man about a costume. See you guys there!"

Gallix swiftly makes his exit, but doubles back inside the give Sirettis a hug. "Thanks for the invite, Sis! This was nice. Okay, see ya soon!" He runs out again with a wave to D, Peppers, and Stali, then turns his feet toward the market district, where he finds an old friend from his days making his living in the fighting pits. An hour later, the brawler shows up at the Irorium in an elaborate costume that gives him the appearance, if not the size, of Gulgamodh.

"Gulgamodh stands ready!"

As you make your way through the streets, a lean-faced man hiding behind a long cowl slips alongside.

"A moment of your time," he says and pulls you aside, into the shadows of a nearby alley.

"It seems we have two things in common, an eagerness to participate in good celebration, and this…"

He punctuates his sentence by holding out an elaborately carved wayfinder, the type only granted to Pathfinders of great importance. “I assure you, its mine,” he adds quickly, closing the device and tucking it back into the folds of his cloak with a quick, easy motion. Then he continues, “I know a good number of you are already planning to attend the festivities this evening. I need but a casual favor. An old associate of mine, Charvion Eater-of–Bones is set to make an elaborate display of some artifact he claims to have recovered. I’ve not had contact with him in a year or so, and I’ve a curious feeling about the event. More I cannot say; however, I’d appreciate you keeping an eye on whatever stunt he’s considering. He’s a natural charlatan that one. Just keep an eye out is all—nothing serious. Don’t let him know that you’re watching, and do not approach the artifact during the showing. Most importantly, tell no one of this conversation.”

With a closer look at the man, you find you recognize some of his features from back at the Hall of Drunken Heroes. It's Osprey!

Before long, he ducks into an alley, morphs into a bird of prey and flies off, allowing you to continue on your way to the Irorium.

Gallix listens intently and only gives a silent nod of understanding once Osprey has made his request. After the mysterious man changes form and flies away, Gallix noisily walks out of the alleyway, his cumbersome costume creaking and clanking loudly with every step.

Man, I don't know how Uesugi deals with wearing such heavy armor all the time, he thinks to himself, though the noise of the suit nearly drowns out his own thought.

Mr. Peppers can tell this ability is a druid's wild shape ability, and it's clear Osprey morphed into a small eagle as he cawed and fluttered off.

You enter the Irorium, a massive stadium with five public entrances. On the mezzanine level, a 20-foot-wide stone arch opens onto an equally wide marble stairwell that descends out onto the street. The stairwell corridor is 300 feet long. There are four side gates that also exit through a 20-foot-wide stone arch opening to a wide marble stairway that descends down onto the street.

At the main gate, a heavily armored worker stands at attention. "You there! Tickets please!" After showing him your scraps of paper with Subtier 8-9 written on them, he steps aside. "You will be sitting anywhere in the mezzanine or the three levels above it. Go on then, before the show starts!"

A trickle of Pathfinders and other guests fills in the bleachers inside the arena. A look around the arena reveals that more wealthy or important looking attendees sit closest to the ring, while the most ragged and sketchy looking folk only find standing room at the very top of the arena.

An usher directs you above the field seats to the mezzanine just above it, and you find your stone seats between a family of dwarves. Hey, they're carrying tankards right from Cayden Caileans' Hall! They quickly wave Gallix and the rest of you over. "Aye, if it isn't the Red Arm of Absalom! How the hell have ya been?! Kill anymore of 'em pesky demons lately?" The silver-haired dwarf knocks back his mug and belches luxuriously. "C'mon, 'ave a seat! Join us!"

Mr Peppers stops briefly to hand the man his ticket before quickly moving along into the stadium with the others. "Not the best seats in the house, I'd rather not be in the splash zone anyhow." **OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT**

”Welcome to Absalom!” The MC's voice, magically enhanced, booms throughout the arena. ”On this glorious eve we gather again in celebration of our wonderful city and its freedom from tyranny. We present to you all—the Passion of the First Siege of Absalom! A performance great and terrible, reenacting Absalom’s victorious slaughter of Warlord Voradni Voon’s troops upon the city’s rocky shores. As the highlight of this years performance, directly following the Passion, the Pathfinder Society has generously agreed to a public unveiling of its latest acquisition, a terrifying device dredged from ancient ruins in the Mwangi Expanse. And now, ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats. The performance is about to begin.”

The Passion is long, tediously so, though the rowdy crowds more than entertain themselves, booing and cheering the performers and throwing rotten cabbages. In all, it turns out to be a fine afternoon of celebration.

Following the performance, a large stage is wheeled in to the west side of the Irorium. The stage is covered with a large curtain. Beneath is a scaled set of a ruin and in the center stands a bizarre, cage-like structure of weathered metal covered with strange runes and other ornate etchings. A man who fits the description of the Pathfinder known as Charvion Eater-of-Bones stands next to the cage.

“Good evening, friends! On this auspicious night I present to you an incredible spectacle, the type of which you have never seen before. From the darkest jungles of Mwangi, I have procured an ancient device, an artifact capable of ripping through the very cloth of our reality!”

Charvion touches something on the cage, and it falls open, slowly unfolding like a blossoming flower. He steps inside, and the cage begins to close around him, crackling with swirling tendrils of mystic, silvery ether. In an ominous and unearthly voice he bellows, “I am now fused to the ethereal plane—the realm of ghosts! Ask me what you will, and the dead shall answer through me! But be wary of what you seek, for you may not like the answers.”

GMs you have one day for the crowd to ask questions of the spirits through Charvion.

Gallix laughs and gives Peppers a thumbs up at his compliment, "Hey, I try to have a good time, that's all! I'll definitely have to change when the show gets started, though. This thing is way too bulky for me to actually get around."

As he talks to his elven friend, Gallix spots Grim and Misfortune seated a few places down the row. He squeezes by and extends a faux-gauntleted hand to greet the man. "How ya doin'? Name's Gallix, though back in my 'glory days' they used to call me Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne! Hahaha! Anyway, I overheard that you're gonna be working with us on our newest assignment. Good to have you on the team. I'll be the one right up front dancing around the enemies so fast their heads spin." The Chelaxian brawler grins broadly, then calls for a round of drinks for his companions and the dwarves seated nearby.

When the Passion actually begins, Gallix excuses himself and goes to find a good spot where he can take off his Gulgamodh costume. Once he's out of it and into his usual attire, he returns to his friends and watches the show enthusiastically, cheering and booing loudly. "The performers live for this stuff! Man, do I miss being in the ring sometimes," he muses aloud.

Finally, as the Passion ends and Charvion begins his demonstration, Gallix elbows Peppers in the side and whispers to him, "Looks like we're up, buddy. Get those eyes a-glowing!" For his own part, Gallix surreptitiously draws out a wand and taps it to his forehead. He carefully watches Charvion's every movement, and also tries to recall anything he can about devices meant to bridge the gap between the Material and Ethereal planes.

Moments after the black dragon snatches Charvion away, another three black dragons dive down into the Irorium, groups of goblins carried on their backs. One dragon swoops down and spews a jet of acid, whipping the crowd into a full panic. Patrols of goblins jump and fall off the dragons' backs, indiscriminately hacking at the crowds and blocking exits.
