Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Think someone moved my token accidentally?
That was me I think! Sorry! I musta' lost my head and grabbed the other hot chick in the room instead! =)
GM Aumakua |
ROUND 6
Merelda you try the door but it appears to be blocked from the inside. As the door hits against whatever is blocking it you hear a hiss followed by something clawing and banging on the door.
Cassandra Leigh |
Which door had what sounded like a girl screaming for help behind it? Screaming which has, sadly, stopped.
GM Aumakua |
Ahhh very right so. The door in question is the one that Merelda is trying to open
Cassandra Leigh |
Remembering the girl's voice crying for help Cassandra made her way to the doorway between the two rooms and opened it in hopes of getting through and being in place to help Merely a when she got the door opened.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Figuring another un-intelligent zombie was blocking the door inadvertently, Merelda shuts it again and hold it closed as she cries out to the others.
"Its another one behind this door. Don't know if there's more! Can we find another way in?"
Innis |
Merry: +2 ability, skill checks, attacks.
Innis grumbles "It's locked in there!? Good leave it, there is nothing for us here. We should have burned this place to the ground or not pried at all."
Cassandra Leigh |
"There's a door in here, I'm going to open it and see if it goes through." With that she moved down towards the door and hoped that there weren't more zombies behind it. She reached out and grabbed the door knob and tried to open it as she jumped back with her glaive ready to strike any zombies that came boiling out of it.

Innis |
"Ah but of course you're right and time spent licking our wounds might help remind ourselves of our mortality. As if Him'Wazir wasn't cautionary tale enough." She retorts callously.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Struggling with the bouncing door, Merelda attempts to smile sweetly at her sister-in-arms.
"Less sarcasm for now sister. Remember these others are not as fortunate as you or I.
They are not trained to look at the pure chaos in our world and find the ironic humor in it
that is our goddess."
Innis |
"Hurphm" Innis crosses her arms "So long as we find time in all this to Avenge our own grievances I suppose we can play Defenders if it suits the fancy of the hour. The Luck turn in your favor Sister." She motions to proceed.
Lililinda |
Lililinda hurries over to Cassandra's side. "You shouldn't go anywhere alone in your condition," she says to her, "Not that I'm a lot of help."
GM Aumakua |
Cassandra opens the door ready to face off against another zombie but to her relief the door opens into the room with Merelda who is struggling against the door.
Cassandra Leigh |
The bottom door, not the one I'm next to. That's where I jump back to after opening the one at the bottom of the room.
GM Aumakua |
my bad sorry
The door easily swings open barely hanging on the hinges you see a kitchen before in absolute chaos. Trails of blood and can be seen on the floor leading to a door that currently stands open exiting outside.
Cassandra Leigh |
Entering the kitchen Cass saw what she hoped for and moved back from the door into the room Merelda was trying to enter. She gestured for Lililinda to come in and open it then get back. She just hoped that the gnomish woman understood what she meant.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Hearing the tiny voice calling for help, Merelda growls and decides to try and force open the door finally, but warns her friends first.
"I'm going in!"
Strength Check(Open Door): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"Oww!"
Or not.
Cassandra Leigh |
That's fine Kirzon.
GM Aumakua |
Kirzon opens the door ready for anything that might attack them but it opens into a fairly stocked pantry of sacks, jars and a couple of barrels.
Merelda slams into the door hoping to break it down but bounces right off. As she nurses her sore shoulder a bloodied ashen hand emerges from the slight opening only to jerk back into the room when you hear the cries of a child behind the door fill the room.
Innis |
I get paranoid if my + is not specified in peoples skill checks, though you probably still failed.
Cassandra Leigh |
Cassandra looked into the storage closet in horror, this was not what she had expected. Realizing there was only one way to where the girl was she quickly moved back around to the door Merelda was trying to open and said, "This is the only way in, the other door I found was to a cupboard. If you can get the door open a little then I might be able to get my glaive in there and pry it open."
GM Aumakua |
The only likely way to get through this door is going to chop it down. Whatever is behind the door is stopping the door from opening any wider. The child's voice heightens with fear "Stayyy away! Stayyy away! Stayyy away!"
Kirzon |
Dismayed that they hadn't found another entrance, Kirzon hurries back with Cassandra.
"Time ta take down tha door!" he cries. Using his skills at woodcutting, Kirzon means to hack the door apart with his axe. He loads up and swings.
Borrowing this from last time, hope it works.
Profession (woodcutter) vs DC12: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 +2 Damage to his attacks on the door.
Axe: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21; Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Crit? Is that even possible?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12; Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
To be clear, Kirzon keeps hacking for as long as it takes. If the exact number of rounds matter, happy to have the DM roll the dice.
Cassandra Leigh |
Cassandra sighed and said as nicely as she could, "It's alright honey, we've destroyed the zombies out here. Please open the door and come out."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
GM Aumakua |
Kirzon's chops with his trusty axe are met with screams from inside the room. "My daddy and my mommy!! Stayyy away! Stayyy away!"
Rushing however has also made Kirzon go errant and he hits it into the door frame.
Door has hardness 5 and 10 hp. You don t need to roll to hit but you better start chopping faster. You can roll your damage until the door goes down.
Cassandra Leigh |
Taking her queu from Kirzon Cassandra began to deliver blows with her glaive to the door in the hopes of speeding up the process.

glaive pa: 1d10 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 3 = 17
Kirzon |
Kirzon alternates blows with Cassandra, striking each time she rears her blade back. Though Cassandra is clearly more effective. This happens assuming I'm not getting in the way. If I am, I get the heck out of dodge, as Cassandra can more than handle this herself.
Battle Axe: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Battle Axe: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Battle Axe: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
GM Aumakua |
After two rounds of coordinating blows against the door it breaks apart into several wooden fragments. The door breaking down is followed with a BOOM! as a wooden wardrobe – probably what was bracing the door – falls to the floor of the room no longer having the support of the door.
As soon as it falls you watch as a zombie tries to rush out of the room. Covered in blood with its pale white skin and red-shot eyes it struggles to climb over the wardrobe and attack you. Even covered in gore you can see that the creature wears a short sleeve jacket bearing the Taldan crest on both shoulders.
Kirzon and Cassandra you can both make an AoO.
Cassandra Leigh |
Cass heard the door give and jumped back to avoid the wardrobe, just in tome to see the zombie come rushing out. Her reflex were honed by years of practice and she took a swipe almost unconciously as the thing came charging at her.

GM Aumakua |
Moving back with the grace of a dancer Cassandra swings twice but is unable to strike the zombie.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
I'm assuming the rest of us were holding actions/staying away from flying splinters until the door was removed. Good job guys!
GM Aumakua |
That is what I figured. I'll likely just reroll ini. I needed to keep track of how many rounds went by before you got in this room.
Kirzon your axe hacks into the zombie catching it on it's shoulder as it manages it way towards you.
ROUND 1

2.Zombie
3.Innis and Lililinda
Merelda, Kirzon, Cass, Nicias, Boros. Your Turn

Innis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Kirzon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Lililinda: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
zombie: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Cassandra Leigh |
With the zombie suddenly way to close for comfort Cassandra quickly hopped back and took a swipe at the undead monstrosity with her glaive putting a great deal of force behind it. The blade came slashing in and she knew that she might miss as her target appeared to begin moving out of the path of her strike. She could only hope the thing's reactions would be too slow this time.

AoO 3: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 1 = 111d10 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 3 = 13
GM Aumakua |
With practiced precision Cassandra is able to step back and swipe the creature right along it's midsection causing it's innards to spill forth and it drops to the ground destroyed.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Taking the moment to move under the cover of Cassandra's deadly glaive, Merelda steps on the neck of the zombie to make sure its down,
and moves to the door with her rapier at the ready.
"Cover me guys! Hello? The creature is gone? Are you ok?"
GM Aumakua |
You hear a very low whisper sound repeatedly saying "mommy...mommy...mommy"
Cassandra Leigh |
Does the voice seem to be coming from the room or from the wardrobe that fell when we broke open the door?
Lililinda |
Lililinda steps toward the sound of the voice. "Where are you, dear?" she calls out softly, "It's safe, you can come out now." She waves at everyone else to stay back, then cleans up her appearance with a quick prestidigitation.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
GM Aumakua |
The voice does not answer back at first but then you hear "I..I..I..can't. My mommy isn't moving. Mommy! Mommy!"
You can hear the hysteria building in the young child's voice.
GM Aumakua |
Lililinda enters the room and has to hold her composure at the scene spread out before her. In the corner she spies the source of the voice a little boy who is tightly huddled in the corner. His are focused on the body of a woman who lies on the floor. A deep crimson pool has formed around her caused by a large wound on her neck. The child does all he can to keep his bare feet away from the pool of blood. He looks at you Lililinda and then stares back at the still form of the woman and whimpers out "Mmm..omm...myy"
Lililinda |
"HEALER!" she shouts, "We need a healer in here!" Though I'm afraid it may be too late.
She steps around the body and approaches the child. "Come here little one," she says, taking his hand and turning his face away from the awful scene. "Lets get out of the way so my friends can help."
She tries not to shake as she attempts to lead the child out of the room.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Innis |
Innis approaches at Lililinda's call mostly to humor the other woman as she already guesses that there is nothing she can accomplish. Innis notices the wretched state of Cassandra who is barely able to stand and is a mess of blood making her misgivings only deepen as she passes by.
heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 +1 from guidance
Innis |
"The rest of you secure the house if we are stopping here. Kirzon are we close to anywhere in the city we might gather supplies?"
