"One thing though, how do we know he won't turn and walk along the gully bottom? It would be frustrating to get atop the other side just to have him head back in." "Should we at least untie his legs down there an see what happens?"

![]() |

Carini doffs her armor, giving Vulf the opportunity for all the leers that he might like. She draws the rope up to the top and with Mentys and Vulf's help, ties and then lowers Kalkamedes to the bottom.
When the rope shakes, indicating that Kranzer has taken Kalkamedes off the rope, she draws the rope back up once more to tie her armor off, then lowers it into the gulch. She waits for Mentys to climb to the bottom before climbing down herself. Hudor follows, leaving Farlen at the top by himself.
While the mage unhooks the grappling hook and uses his mage hand to carry it across the canyon and tie it off on the other side, the party at the bottom removes the binding from Kalkamedes legs to confirm that he intends to go up the other side.
Assuming that proves to be the case...
When Kalkamedes starts bumping into the wall like one of those gnomish wind-up toys, they retie his legs. They call to Farlen to come down; he lets himself fall as he casts a feather fall spell off a scroll to catch himself before he hits the bottom. Krazer, Mentys, and Carini all climb to the top at the other side. Carini draws her armor up to the top, untying it and setting it aside to put back on later. She lowers the rope again, and Kranzer, Hudor, and Farlen retie Kalkamedes to the rope. The three at the top draw Kalkamedes up to the top, then drop the rope one one more time for each person at the bottom. They all tie themselves to the rope and allow them to be drawn up to the top.
When everyone is up, Carini dons her armor yet again, and the group is ready to untie Kalkamedes and let him proceed.

Carini doffs her armor, giving Vulf the opportunity for all the leers that he might like.
Vulf seizes the opportunity.
"Torag be praised for the beauty of all of His Creations!" the Ulfen cleric declares. "Majesty is found amidst the cleft of canyon walls. Exquisiteness among the forms surrounding chasms deep!"
When the rope shakes, indicating that Kranzer has taken Kalkamedes off the rope, she draws the rope back up once more to tie her armor off, then lowers it into the gulch. She waits for Mentys to climb to the bottom before climbing down herself.
"Beauty, strength, and wit." utters Vulf admiringly as Carini deftly executes her plan with the aid of the other Pathfinders. "Er jeg ikke mer enn en stein blant dyrebare edelstener?"

You get up the cliffs safely if not with some difficultly. You take Kalkamedes a safe distance away from the edge before setting him free once again. Indeed he does move forward and not back towards the gorge. Soon the trail starts to narrow and your forced to move single file through an abundance of shrubs and bushes. Several times Kranzer guesses the wrong trail Kalkamedes will take as the narrow game trails leading through these 6 -8ft tall shrubs continually branch off. Kranzer therefore decides to shorten the distance between himself and Kalkamedes, tired of constantly back tracking, in order to keep in front. Great bands of stars sweep across the cloudless night sky, illuminating a series of game trails that chase through the mountain shrubs and berry bushes.
ok your forced to go single file in this area so I’ll need a new marching order. There is a fork in the road up ahead anyone out in front must decide if they go right or left or wait for Kalkamedes to the pass them. Give kalkamedes position in the marching order and everyone’s position and distance relative to Kalkamedes please

![]() |

"Lets let one person go ahead of Kalkamedes. So if he goes one way in a fork, we can hold him up long enough for that one person to make a correction."
Hudor will walk directly behind Kalkamedes. Making him 3rd in marching order if everyone goes with his suggestion.

![]() |

Mentys grins at a crisis well averted when he reaches the other side. "Not a bad idea. Strongly implemented, too; I haven't checked my weight in some time but I could be around 250 pounds."
Given that I'm tied to Kalkamedes, how about I'll be right in front of him? Likely closer to the fore, so he's protected in the middle and I have the ability to melee. As to the fork, I say we let Kalkamedes go forward a bit, then cut back ahead of him once he makes a choice.

![]() |

Carini will remain taking up the rear, holding the end of the rope should Kalkamedes get away.
"Kranzer, when you hit a fork in the path, there's probably no sense scouting ahead too much on either one. Wait at the junction and let Kalkamedes show us where he's intending to go."

![]() |

Vulf settles in behind Kalkamedes, prepared to grab the sleepwalker or heal his wounds, whatever the circumstances may be.
Vulf walks 5 ft. behind Kalkamedes.

lucklesshero |

Ok So I'll need either Vulf or Hudor to walk behind Kalkamedes not both...path too narrow in most spots here. Also, what is Kranzer doing still ranging out front? in back somewhere? Inquiring minds want to know. Farlen I'll assume your next to last right in front of Carini? you cool with that?

![]() |

Vulf follows behind Hudor.

![]() |

Farlen settles in just in front of Carini. "The rope will show us where to go." "We can pull back long enough to slow Kalk down and Mentys can get back in front."

![]() |

Kranzer ranges ahead still, but keeping to about 10 feet ahead most times within the winding paths. In the tight confines, he stows his bow and keeps a short sword out to chop at any overgrowth.

![]() |

Marching order is Kranzer 10' ahead, Mentys tied to Kalkamedes, then Hudor, Vulf, Farlen holding rope, carini holdind rope.
"In Sargava, as a kid playing in the jungles, I would see a mommy monkey lead her younglings around while they clung to her trail. Without much light here, I feel like a monkey and I look like one too. Do you?" He whispers his comment to Carini singing the last part to the tune of 'Happy Birthday'.

![]() |

"I just hope we only have natural hazards to worry about like so far. If we get some enemies to attack us, especially on this narrow passage. We will have problems."

![]() |

"Perhaps, but I would feel more of use in such a situation," Mentys rumbles. "Even though I'm pulling my weight, mainly by pulling his. And it would be some job to keep him from harm's way."

lucklesshero |

OK so I did some rolls previously that, just got ghosted away in the Saturday and late Friday server problems. So just roll with what's going on here.
Kranzer and Mentys range out a little ahead of Kalakamedes managing to stay ahead of him at nearly every turn. You end up in a berry patch walking at a steady gate. Kranzer is constantly looking over his shoulder back at Kalkamedes, to make sure he doesn't loose him in the maze of bushes. He so busy paying attention to Kalkamedes, he's startled when Mentys says,"hold-up.' and points at a bear feasting on berries only 20ft ahead of Kranzer's current position.

“Hold that rope tight and keep a close eye on our dreamer.” Vulf instructs Carini. ”That is, if you can bear to take your eyes off of me.” he adds as he races ahead to the sounds of conflict.
Upon rounding the corner of the trail, Vulf gets a view of the wounded beast. “Poor thing.” the cleric says regretfully as he spies the mixture of fresh blood and frost matting the bear’s fur. “But we can’t risk you mauling Kalkamedes and turning our ally into an appetizer, our sleeper into supper, our meaderer into a meal, our traveler into a treat….” the Ulfen stops and shakes his head. ”No matter, you don’t understand me anyways. ”
