Any chance for a folk hero type like Monkey King or Iron Monkey?

Thinking eventual Monk/Rogue. Bad for BAB, but conceptually complementary. And is the Feinting Flurry feat acceptable?

Sei, a young 14 year old boy born in the land of China during the Spring and Autumn period. A short, lean boy with cropped black hair and dark brown eyes. To all observers, Sei is just a normal, everyday boy, betraying no hint of the painful past he has nor the extraordinary mind behind that impish face.

Sei was born with a keen mind blessed by the gods. Even at an early age he proved his intelligence time and again, surpassing any of the other boys in any academic task that they were given. However this blessing was also a curse. Sei started to hear voices. They would always torment him when he was younger, and little by little he realized that they were the thoughts of those around him. When his guardians learnt of this they conspired to exploit the boy for profit.
When Sei learnt of this he fled, becoming a beggar on the streets and wandering from town to town, searching for those who would be willing to take in an orphan. During this lean time Sei’s body grew thin and weak from the malnourishment, his mind also started to become more dim, regressing during those wild and lean times.
Sei grew up hard and grew up paranoid. Being able to hear the thoughts of those around him did nothing for his sense of trust in others. Instead it fostered a strong paranoia, fearful of every conspiracy. One day, Sei sensed a group of bandits tailing a mark, intent on robbing and killing him. Warning the man, Sei saved him and so the man, a wealthy merchant named Shoubunkun took him in. While he was no longer homeless, and indeed he now lived in luxury, his lean days stayed with him. Yet because of his ever wariness, he eventually left.

However, he had gained skills during his time with Shoubunkun, leaving a young man, capable and with money in his pocket rather than the penniless and hopeless kid he once was, now ready to take on the world known as the Spring and Autumn period.

A few things about him. he is 14 years old, so that is just a bit under the normal for a human, it also made a lot of sense to drop his strenght a bit as a result, something i rarely do. He has also regressed a bit from when he was a younger kid, then he was able to read minds, he cant do that quite as strongly anymore (read minds is a 2nd lvl power) but h e can still use communicate and whatnot with his mind. as time progresses he will 'regain' that ability :)

Crunch wise, he is lvl 1, if that is where we are starting at (I didnt find a concise answer for this) but that can easily be adjusted. I need to give him another trait and spend his gold. I also intend on looking through the feats section as well to see if anything catches my eye and replace it with the generic Psionic Talent, but those are the defaults for now. Also I gave him 1 PP as his FCB. level 2 onwards i intend to take the human FCB. If the PP is a no-go then i will give him +1 hp probably.

Oh ya, I drew a fair bit of inspiration from the manga Kingdom, a very good read if you are interested :) Sei is also about the starting age of the protagonist in that series :)

Any comments on Sei?

Iron Monkey was a herbal doctor. :) So you're looking at a monk character there with ranks in Heal.

Sure, why not? Although I suggest you actually look at the martial arts chains. I still have to do a feat chain for Wudan Tai Chi Jian, which is Oriental Swashbuckling (and the swashbucklers on chinese films are much more serious than their occidental counterparts.)


With a 20 point buy, it's going to be difficult to focus on several attributes. Heck, hard to boost more than one, really.

I'll need Dex, Wis (for AC) and sacrifice Str. Which means low melee damage, which will be augmented by sneak attack damage.

Feinting just means no worries about flanking partners or making top of initiative for flat-footedness in opponents.

I can probably parley/skin Hungry Ghost Monk as understanding chakras, pressure points, etc... to manipulate the flow of energy. Works thematically with Doctor/Heal ranks.

I'd like to look at those materials. I'll build to lvl 5 and repost.

[Edit] After having looked at some youtube videos of Wudan Tai Chi Jian, that seems about right for my fighting style. I would like it if I can count the Han Jian as a rapier for my class abilities, then I wouldn't need to tinker around any more with that. Also, I'll save a feat for the Wudan Tai Chi Jian style feat, so let me know what the pre-reqs are so I can qualify.

Also, I take it that I'm approved as the Snake Zodiac? I will add that trait to my character and fill in what it does for me when you list it.

A dashing young swashbuckler with a mysterious past... is what Mitsuo would like to see when they look at him. His natural kitsune abilities make that a very likely possibility. With his (many) good looks, natural skill with a rapier, and flair for the dramatic, he hopes to have adventures the likes of which would be talked about for centuries.

He had heard someone was searching for heroes, and a hero he intends to be. He doesn't know much about where his destiny would lead him, but he bore the sign of the snake and he heard that whoever it was had been looking for people like him.

He's a charming individual, generally likable, and quite easygoing. He is rather usual colored, as kitsune go, but his human form is as varied as the people whose appearances he fancies. While he has a 'true' human form just like his natural kitsune body, he is unlikely to show it to someone he doesn't really trust.

Zodiac Sign: Snake
Zodiac Bonus: Some pursue their objectives with heedless abandon, but not you. You always carefully consider every action and step you take towards your objectives. Every move is deliberate and well-thought out. Whenever the DM spends a Hero point, you gain a Hero Point as long as you spend it during the current encounter.

Zodiac Penalty: The lap of luxury is where you like to be. Only the finest will do. You are never happy if you cannot stay in the finest establishments or dine with the finest food, drinks, and in the best of company. Once per day, the DM can assess penalties if you endure poor living conditions, friends or act without heed.

I also have a feat slot dedicated to the martial arts style so once I know the benefits it provides I'll include it in the character sheet. :)

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Change Shape (Su) A kitsune can assume the appearance of a specific single human form of the same sex. The kitsune always takes this specific form when she uses this ability. A kitsune in human form cannot use her bite attack, but gains a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks made to appear human. This ability otherwise functions as alter self, except that the kitsune does not adjust her ability scores.

Fast Shifter (Su): You were born with an innate talent for switching between your natural forms. Using your racial change shape ability is a move action instead of a standard action. This racial trait replaces kitsune magic.

Agile (Ex): Kitsune receive a +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics checks.

Natural Weapons (Ex): In her natural form, a kitsune has a bite attack that deals 1d4 points of damage.

Touch of Flame (Su): As a standard action, the shaman can make a melee touch attack that deals 1d6 points of fire damage + 1 point for every 2 shaman levels she possesses. A shaman can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier. At 11th level, any weapon she wields is treated as a flaming weapon.

Life Link (Su): Starting at 1st level, a summoner forms a close bond with his eidolon. Whenever the eidolon takes enough damage to send it back to its home plane, the summoner can, as a free action, sacrifice any number of hit points. Each hit point sacrificed in this way prevents 1 point of damage done to the eidolon. This can prevent the eidolon from being sent back to its home plane.

In addition, the eidolon and the summoner must remain within 100 feet of one another for the eidolon to remain at full strength. If the eidolon is beyond 100 feet but closer than 1,000 feet, its current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 50%. If the eidolon is more than 1,000 feet away but closer than 10,000 feet, its current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 75%. If the eidolon is more than 10,000 feet away, it is immediately returned to its home plane. Current hit points lost in this way are not restored when the eidolon gets closer to its summoner, but its maximum hit point total does return to normal.

Bond Senses (Su): Starting at 2nd level, a summoner can, as a standard action, share the senses of his eidolon, hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching everything the eidolon does. He can use this ability a number of rounds per day equal to his summoner level. There is no range to this effect, but the eidolon and the summoner must be on the same plane. The summoner can end this effect as a free action.

Shield Ally (Ex): At 4th level, whenever a summoner is within his eidolon's reach, the summoner receives a +2 shield bonus to his Armor Class and a +2 circumstance bonus on his saving throws. This bonus does not apply if the eidolon is grappled, helpless, paralyzed, stunned, or unconscious.

FEATS
Realistic Likeness
When you are in human form, you can take the shape of a specific individual.

Prerequisite: Kitsune.
Benefit: You can precisely mimic the physical features of any individual you have encountered. When you use your racial change shape ability, you can attempt to take the form of an individual, granting you a +10 circumstance bonus on Disguise checks made to fool others with your impersonation.

Fox Shape (Kitsune)
You can change into a fox in addition to your other forms.

Prerequisites: Cha 13, base attack bonus +3, kitsune.

Special: A kitsune may select this feat any time she would gain a feat.

Benefit: You can take the form of a fox whose appearance is static and cannot be changed each time you assume this form. Your bite attack’s damage is reduced to 1d3 points of damage on a hit, but you gain a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks made to appear as a fox. Changing from kitsune to fox shape is a standard action. This ability otherwise functions as beast shape II, and your ability scores change accordingly. (Low-Light, Scent, +4 Dex, -2 Str, +1 Natural Armor)

Extra Evolution
Your eidolon has more evolutions.

Prerequisites: Eidolon class feature.

Benefit: Your eidolon’s evolution pool increases by 1.

Special: This evolution can be taken once at 1st level, and again at 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th.

Special Qualities
Darkvision (Ex): The eidolon has darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.

Link (Ex): A summoner and his eidolon share a mental link allows for communication across any distance (as long as they are on the same plane). This communication is a free action, allowing the summoner to give orders to his eidolon at any time. In addition, magic items interfere with the summoner's connection to his eidolon. As a result, the summoner and his eidolon share magic item slots. For example, if the summoner is wearing a ring, his eidolon can wear no more than one ring. In case of a conflict, the items worn by the summoner remain active, and those used by the eidolon become dormant. The eidolon must possess the appropriate appendages to utilize a magic item.

Share Spells (Ex): The summoner may cast a spell with a target of “you” on his eidolon (as a spell with a range of touch) instead of on himself. A summoner may cast spells on his eidolon even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the eidolon's type (outsider). Spells cast in this way must come from the summoner spell list. This ability does not allow the eidolon to share abilities that are not spells, even if they function like spells.

Evasion (Ex): If an eidolon is subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex save for half damage, it takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw.

After i found the ones on the wiki, it seems that Rat is also the best fit for Sei.
Sei has high willpower, not easily swaying to the tune of someone else. He was even willing to leave his home and comfort instead of being controlled by someone else. However, Sei also has the traits of a master manipulator, literally changing peoples minds to suit his needs. He desires to control others using his strong intlect. However his is more of a cautious person, not wanting others to know that he is the one doing the controlling, preferring to do it from the shadows.

Now, if we are using these traits, then i assume that we are using the hero point as well?
