Sei, a young 14 year old boy born under the sign of the Gemini and in the land of China during the Spring and Autumn period. A short, lean boy with cropped black hair and dark brown eyes. To all observers, Sei is just a normal, everyday boy, betraying no hint of the painful past he has nor the extraordinary mind behind that impish face.
Sei was born with a keen mind blessed by the gods. Even at an early age he proved his intelligence time and again, surpassing any of the other boys in any academic task that they were given. However this blessing was also a curse. Sei started to hear voices. They would always torment him when he was younger, and little by little he realized that they were the thoughts of those around him. When his guardians learnt of this they conspired to exploit the boy for profit.
When Sei learnt of this he fled, becoming a beggar on the streets and wandering from town to town, searching for those who would be willing to take in an orphan. During this lean time Sei’s body grew thin and weak from the malnourishment, his mind also started to become more dim, regressing during those wild and lean times.
Sei grew up hard and grew up paranoid. Being able to hear the thoughts of those around him did nothing for his sense of trust in others. Instead it fostered a strong paranoia, fearful of every conspiracy. One day, Sei sensed a group of bandits tailing a mark, intent on robbing and killing him. Warning the man, Sei saved him and so the man, a wealthy merchant named Shoubunkun took him in. While he was no longer homeless, and indeed he now lived in luxury, his lean days stayed with him. Yet because of his ever wariness, he eventually left.
However, he had gained skills during his time with Shoubunkun, leaving a young man, capable and with money in his pocket rather than the penniless and hopeless kid he once was, now ready to take on the world known as the Spring and Autumn period.
