T'wich McGruff |

"Almonds...do make a nice crunchy topping. Once 'ad 'em with pecan that was tasty too." A touch of drool forms on his neatly groomed bread. "Oh, look they changed directions."

Dragox |

"I'm sure they'd taste really good no matter how they were cooked. A lot better than trail rations, that is.". He smiles, "Kinda peaceful the way they are all zigging and zagging back and forth."

A strange malaise passes over the three companions who continue to gaze into the pool of fishes. Even as they conversation on best cooking techniques trails off, they see that the fishes are indeed swimming in a pattern, a pattern that at first seems simple, but which has resonances that indicate a deeper confluence, which makes you realize that there is a depth to their message with surpasses anything you could have imagined. Your minds are expanded by the revelations contained therein, by hints of the grandeur of the multiverse and your insignificance in it, by how even such a small pattern, when multiplied out to infinity, contains everything and nothing, reducing you to dust, to a bleating, blind, terrified, pathetic and contemptible piece of meat.
T'wich and Sargon both begin to laugh even as they draw out daggers and begin stabbing themselves.
Self attack: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Dragox, however, realizes just how much damage has been done to his mind, and knows that he has but seconds of lucidity before he is overcome.
We are now in rounds. Please roll inits. Sargon and T'wich cannot go this round, but roll inits regardless. I'll post a grid in a sec in the maps.

Dragox |

Init 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
"The fish...they're affecting my mind! I want to harm myself," the paladin's warns as he realizes he has only a scant few seconds. He grabs the closest of Twitch or Sargon, and tries to tackle them to the ground, breaking his and the lucky one grabbed' line of vision with the crafty fish.

T'wich McGruff |

T'wich slide out his dagger and jabs the tip into his thigh. He sees but doesn't quite understand why Clank would grab the sorcerer.

Sargon The War Sage |

Init: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
Sargon pulls out a dagger and attempts to skewer a fish but winds up stabbing himself

Turning from the mesmerizing pool, both T'wich and Sargon begin stabbing at themselves with fierce focus.
Omar tries to grab T'wich, but is unable to close his arms around him, while Dragox leaps at Sargon (Please give me a grapple check!)
Rey and Gauthier, you're up!

electricjokecascade RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16 |

I don't think Sargon would wish to attack you, though he's welcome to correct me if he does.
Dragox, feeling his own mind swirling and collapsing under the weight of the revelations from the fish, still manages to retain enough self control to bull doze into Sargon, sending both of them crashing down right next to the edge of the pool.

Sargon The War Sage |

I should have known the trap was with the "innocent" fish, sneaky little muddies.

T'wich McGruff |

"Must kill it...stabbity, stab." As the dwarf jabs at his chest with his dagger. "Fried fish."

Reyondelee |

Reyondelee summons her lyre and hopes against hope that she can distract her companions from harming themselves with her song. As deftly as she knows how, she strums her lyre with one hand cradling the instrument in her elbow, strumming a soft and peaceful tune. With the other hand she grabs her whip and begins to twirl it around her as she dances about, the whip creating intricate patterns as she dances, sings, and twirls.
Life and death, each have a song.
Life sings loud and dances strong,
Death's voice shudders hard and low.
His dance is distant, clumsy, slow.
Sing with me the song of life,
Dance with me an end to strife.
Hear my voice, and see the world,
Watch my whip in spirals twirl.
Sing the song of life for me,
Dance our dance with weapons sheathed.
Come and claim the kiss of life,
Death can hold his voice tonight.
In case it wasn't obvious Rey is going to attempt to release her companions from their confused state by using her distraction performance.
Perform Dance: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39

Reyondelle launches into an evocative and stirring song in the hopes of distracting her companions from their temporary madness, and her words and notes echo from the ceiling and off the limpid pools. Do the fish swim differently as a result? Surely a quick peek would provide an answer...
Inits:

Dragox: 1d4 ⇒ 4
T'wich: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Sargon: 1d4 ⇒ 4
1=Normal, 2=Babbling, 3=Attack self, 4=Attack others
Rey's song, however, does not seem to have had its desired effect. As T'wich, Sargon, and Dragox fall deeper into the swirling patterns in their minds, they are consumed by one desire and one desire only: to kill everyone around them.
This turn T'wich, Dragox, and Sargon must do their best to kill the person closest to them. Please consult the new map (scroll to page 3 for the combat map), and go from there. Since T'wich is grappled by Omar, and Sargon is grappled by Dragox, the targets seem clear.

T'wich McGruff |

RD 1: T'wich
Omar grapples T'which who immediately tries to escape the grapple, so he can kill the man trying to kill the fish.
break grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
"You want me fish, they are mine...mine...mine."

I'm going to post out of order, just because I doubt what happens will affect her ability to do what she's going to do. I realize that her request for Gauthier's assistance would actually come after Gauthier takes his actions, so please, Gauthier, do whatever you would have done before you heard Rey call for your assistance.
Gauthier, if you could protect my front, and DON'T look at the fish, I believe I have just the thing to clear their heads.
Reyondelee puts away her lyre and whip and begins the incantations and gestures of the spell break enchantment.
Here are the problems with this course of action: 1. This spell takes a full minutes to cast, that's 10 rounds of you all trying to kill each other. 2. There's no guarantee it will work, as Rey still has to make a caster level check against a DC of 11 + the caster level of the effect she's trying to break. So here's hoping!

T'wich McGruff |

'Bloody fish stealin' fool, I'll bite yer ear off you thief." T'wich's chompers try to bite Omar's nose off. this is for scene flavor, he's not taking a second action.. "N'ver did trust ye." He ramble on.
EDIT: I forgot that I get Freedom of Movement 3/RDs a day. I used one to get out of the rug. Technically, this goes off as soon at it applies, so Omar would not have been able to grapple him. That being said I hate to recon actions, so with the DM's permission I'll use it next round.

T'wich McGruff |

I believe Sargon is away this weekend, and he asked to be DMPC'd.

Sargon The War Sage |

oops, posted this in the discussion area by accident
Sargon attempts to escape and get back to his trout almandine recipe
I want to be free: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13...I'm guessing that's not going to be successful.

Gauthier de Nevereth |
Gauthier wishes he could just run away, but that would mean Dragox and Sargon killing each other...
So he stays, grabs his bag, then moves up to T'wich, still held by Omar, and tries to put the bag on his head!
Not sure what to roll, so her gos a CMB check, kind of a dirty trick...
CMB: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

electricjokecascade RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16 |

The wrestling and grunting fills the room as companions strive to break clinches or break bones. Rey begins her powerful incantation, and Guathier hovers around the edge, trying to drop a bag on T'wich's head. He's not incapacitated, so Gauthier give me an attack roll against T'wich's AC-2 due to the Dex penalty for being grappled. Then state your action this round.
Round 2 of Rey's casting

Sargon: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Dragox is filled with the same desire to tear into Sargon, whereas T'wich succumbs to fishy babbling while Sargon in turn seeks to attack himself!

Assuming he has not switched on the freedom of movement yet, he is pinned. Pinned is not incapacitated, but it is appreciably worse than grappled.
A pinned creature is tightly bound and can take few actions. A pinned creature cannot move and is denied its Dexterity bonus. A pinned character also takes an additional –4 penalty to his Armor Class. A pinned creature is limited in the actions that it can take. A pinned creature can always attempt to free itself, usually through a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check. A pinned creature can take verbal and mental actions, but cannot cast any spells that require a somatic or material component. A pinned character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level) or lose the spell. Pinned is a more severe version of grappled, and their effects do not stack.

T'wich McGruff |

RD 2: T'wich
Omar's attempt to really get a hold on T'wich fails as the fleet dwarf slips out of his gasp. Instinctively, he wiggles and thrust his dual short swords towards Omar. The FOM happens automatically and any grapple attempt automatically fails.

Reyondelee |

Reyondelee tries to remain calm as her allies are trying to harm each other. She continues casting her break enchantment spell hoping against hope that it will pull her friends out of their fishtasmic fishmaginations.

Sargon The War Sage |

Waiting for Sargon.[/ooc]
I attacked myself this round

Dragox |

Lol, oh. I forgot!
OK, DM. Question time as I'm not super familiar with grapple rules. If I have Sargon pinned, is there any way I can do damage to him now, or do I need to let him go to draw a weapon, if I really want to kill him?

T'wich McGruff |

DM - Dragox is Paladin he may actually be immune to effects. Aura of Resolve is an immunity to charm effects and others get +4 to saves. Aura of courage is immunity against fear (if that applies)

Round 2 action
As it dawns on Gauthier that T'wich is much too fast for him, he steps back and decides to try something else entirely.
5-foot step back.
Staying clear of the others, he invokes the power of the Mud ring and concentrates on draining the pools of their water, hoping to disrupt the fish's effect on his companions.
Cast Control Water from the ring.
