A lean man in his early twenties, with a disarming smile and always impossibly perfect dark hair, Gauthier carries himself softly, but with purpose. His grey-black eyes shine with a flash of perversity and cunning, framed by the smooth olive skin of youth.

He favors dark crimson tunics of leather or thick wool, cut at the shoulder to allow fluid movements, under which he wears ample white shirts, worn to the neck, with a "cravate" of silk. Underneath, he wears a tight-fitting lace of exquisitely fine mail, and over, a fine dark crimson cape sporting sinuous strands of gold, a treasured catch from one of his “negotiations,” protects him from the weather and hides his dueling sword. He favors strong coffee, smooth leathery cigars, and strong alcohol; never beer.

Born the fifth son of small nobility in Taldor, Gauthier de Nevereth quickly learned not to expect much from his position in life. As a result, he started to hang with the wrong crowds, at least according to his dear mother, and learned some of the arts of the stage, for which he was quite gifted. This vocation eventually proved too scandalous and he was forced to either quit the stage or leave Taldor altogether, which he did.

With his friend, he traveled to Andoran, where he realized there was much more to life than status or leisure. He joined Andoran freedom fighters and traveled by night to Cheliax and Isger to support those who would resist and oppose tyranny. Just a few days ago, while traveling in Isger, Gauthier follows a trail of strange rumours about a band of Hobgoblin raiders…

Gauthier is firstly driven by a hatred for oppression, be it subtle or overt. He is proud as well as joyful in his demeanour, quick to provoke, but also quick to befriend. Deep down, he firmly believes liberation to be achievable, but understands that it must come from the people. To that end, he travels to the depths of oppression to speak with the oppressed and to give them hope, as well as the means to break their chains.
