i like the update about the info from DM Tallgrass.

Regarding Jerex's power question, i would say it seems fine (although i am not the DM, and i COULD see an argument for not allowing it as well). but it wouldnt also call ammo - that would be another power (Bolt) that would have to be modified if you were going that angle.

I would say regarding changing Bolt, that might necessitate a bump in power level since emerging guns puts the cost of ammo high enough for the PC to be saving a lot of money by using that power (even at the cost of a standard action every few rounds).

I just want to make sure that I can make an informed decision about it. I have had bad experiences with kneejerk rulings before, so I will make sure to take everything into consideration.

It just so happens that the confluence of everything busy in this year is happening in these few days, so I will get back to you. :D

This campaign prospect has me quite a tingle ^_^

Before I put all the crunch & background together.

LN Tiefling Monk (vanilla). Having a spell-like ability and caster level, affords eligibility for "Craft Wondrous Item" feat at character level 3 (CL3).

It's something I just learned of (in the FAQ), so making sure it flies in this campaign.

For discussion, not debate, and of course the ultimate decision is up to Jen. In addition, like you stated, it could be interpreted either way. Since there are no obvious stated restrictions of allowable weapon categories, this will mostly likely be Jen's call.

Call Weaponry

...

EFFECT
...
Effect One weapon; see text No limitations stated
...

Power Description: You call a weapon “from thin air” into your waiting hand (actually, it is a real weapon hailing from another location in space and time). You don’t have to see or know of a weapon to call it—in fact, you can’t call a specific weapon [weapon not defined and it could be any firearm type]; you just specify the kind [Kind can also include firearm, no limitations stated]. If you call a projectile weapon An example because we all know that you can also call other medieval weapons and not only projectile weapons], it comes with 3d6 non-magical bolts, arrows, or sling bullets, as appropriate [This could also mean rounds since this is only relating to projectile weapons and firearms are under category firearms, and it could also come with 3d6 rounds for the firearm that appears.]. The weapon is made of ordinary materials as appropriate for its kind. If you relinquish your grip on the weapon you called for 2 or more consecutive rounds, it automatically returns to wherever it originated.

In addition, you must have the exotic weapon proficiency, class skills, and feats to use the firearm effectively. Since firearms are emerging, perhaps add in the stipulation that the power manifester has had to use a firearm mostly successful regardless if the target was struck or not so he/she knows exactly what he/she is calling forth (aka did not blow up in their hand and kill them)?

ah i forgot it came with 3d6 projectiles.

It absolutely does fly, but I'm looking at the Tiefling page, and it says that the caster level of the spell-like ability is equal to your class level. So you would be able to take the feat at level 3.

Is that what you meant?

Yes, absolutely.

Jerex, I would be okay with that. The only thing is that there will be a restriction on obtaining advanced firearms for the very early levels through this method, since it seems that the main limitation of the power for balance is obtaining non-magical, which typically does not pick up 5000 gp rifle.

However, as we progress a bit, I would absolutely allow you to get advanced firearms through this spell, just not right away.

Wonderful, that's fine with me.

If you guys don't mind, I'm probably just going to use quotes for replies

Likewise ... ;-)

All that really remains is equipment which will probably be light and probably some refinements here and there.

Grand Lodge

Besides some armor a weapon and a traveler's kit level 1 equipment is easy :)

All complete.

Thanks, that's very easy to look through.

GM:
Alright, Mokshus and I have chatted about potentially linking our characters up but I don't like building a character specifically on a relationship with another while still in the recruiting phase of a game.

The central premise of the Ony character is one I have toyed with numerous times during my gaming years. Mostly his personality is an experiment in True Neutral in that he is not immoral but amoral. Ony could best be described as a high functioning sociopath who has spent many years looking out only for himself. He does not take any pleasure in mugging someone or breaking into houses and certainly would not be described as going out of his way to seek out that kind of work specifically but he is very good at it.

Essentially, while the majority of the population have sort of knee-jerk reaction that tells them whether something is 'good' or 'evil,' Ony never developed this reflex. The only subjects that matter to him are whether something helps or hinders his continued survival. While others with similar outlooks may try to ruthlessly rise to the top of their peers in order to better secure their survival, Ony is also smart enough to realize that unbridled ambition is likely to get you killed.

This is where the party, or a party member comes in. The fun of an Ony philosophy character is when he is exposed to others of varying alignments and beings the rocky road of trying to develop a moral compass. I was planning to attach him to a good-aligned character for two reasons. The first is that despite what some would claim, altruism is actually a sound evolutionary strategy and the second is that I do not enjoy playing outright evil characters. So he begins alternating between trying out goodness in a heavy-handed way and backsliding towards his more customary and horribly pragmatic methods.

Ony:

Maybe it's just the very late hour, but who is Mokshus?

GM:
The guy who submitted Bathus Libretto

With the number of quality submissions, I will probably run with 6-7 party members. I'll make sure to give time for background weaving and such before we start the adventure, and alterations to crunch can be made for even a few days after the start of the game, since no combat will probably directly result at the very beginning.

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

Sounds good. Are you going to be keeping recruitment open until the 8th or given the number of sound submissions will it be closing earlier?

I filled some crunch into the profile for my Savage Skald from the Ironbound Isles I am still skimming through it for errors and such. But the character is made and ready for adventure! I ad libbed details up to the point when he makes contact with the Caedmon faction. If I add any more details it will be for flavour and fluff and will not change his story. I hope you like him.

I am excited to see how this plays out.

Apologies for the delay, if I've not been excluded... I'll complete crunch & nifty background.

Was working under the no submission deadline protocol.

I applied over at Solrath, but with some of the names floating around here I'd like to toss my hat into this ring as well. As a side note, what sort of game is tossing hats into a ring, anyway?

I see things are a little different here. I apologize if my application is incorrect or too late. But on the hope that it flies, I hereby present:
Marckus the Lucky, half-orc positive energy cleric. Sword and board party healer, Marckus also comes with a sunny disposition and a major good luck streak. If a rabbit's foot is too fuzzy for you, try Marckus for your good luck charm! Half-orcs are notoriously un-fuzzy.

GM Jen:

Jen,

As is, Jerex is ready to go. Now, I am going to go over to refine, fix any mistakes, and purchase any last minute items. Are there any story gaps or lack of information I need to fix or refine?

Robert Brookes wrote:

I don't want to penalize anyone who was under the impression that November 8th is the deadline, so what I will probably do is that I will start compiling a preliminary party list, so decisions can be very fast once recruitment actually ends.

*IMPORTANT* For anyone that is still planning to submit, please just comment with some sort of mark to let me know that you're interested, even if your character is not done, so I will have a general idea to work with.

LN Tiefling Monk crafter, please. Comment, mark. :)

I think you guys have already made your characters. :P

I mean, for people that have not yet shown interest, so I can start doing the selection a bit early.

Hello everyone! I'm loving the concepts so far. I have a few comments or questions for each of you. Hopefully they will help you refine your character or think a bit about their motivations.

Essentially all of the psionics line of books through Dreamscarred Press is allowed. If it's not publicly available on the pfsrd for example, make sure you note the book.

I just want to point out that Tenro and Hutwil each do something very nice. Tenro has a wonderful story and...

MALKUS got up abruptly from the table for the bathroom, cutting off a Dwarven merchant story midstream about the problems with haggling with gnomes over alchemical ingredients. "Sorry good sir, I must unload some of this swill" said Malkus, referencing the dwarf's earlier story's punchline, while chuckling jovially and backslapping the dwarf in a friendly manner. Malkus thought while doing this stagecraft, his information seems useless. People sitting silently at a tavern alone draw attention so bad conversation seemed the order of the afternoon.

Malkus reached the privy and reread the note about this meeting in secrecy. Damn it all..... in his nervousness about meeting with the House, he had attended the wrong tavern. Worse he had spent the better part of the day, observing and making sure the place was secure beforehand at the wrong location. Now he would have to rush to the other tavern without any time for observing the place beforehand. He silently and smoothly exited the tavern from the back entrance and headed to the proper meeting place.

^

Excellent. If anyone wants to roleplay with one another to show how your character interacts, let's say at the tavern meeting place, you can do that here.

A house messenger runs up to the House Caedmon recruiter and whispers something into the recruiter's ear. Jerex looks away to give them quasi-privacy. The recruiter then looks at Jerex, "Mr. Derexhi ..." ... Jerex quickly interjects, "I recently changed my last name to Absylon." ... The recruiter begins again, "Very well, Mr. Absylon, can you please meet me at the Silver Dragon Tavern? Something has come to my attention and I need to take care of it first before we can talk any further. Do not worry, the Silver Dragon Tavern is reputable place and we actually do have recruitment meetings there more often than you think. Tell them that Samuel sent you and they will take care of you." ... Jerex nods, "Thank you Mr. Samuel, I will head over there now." Jerex strolls over to the tavern and walks in. This is not your normal tavern, this is a very nice upper class tavern. Jerex walks over to the bar tender and the bar tender acknowledges him, "Well met Mr Derexhi, thee name is Tibbs and what can I get you? ... Jerex replies, "Samuel from House Caedmon sent me here." ... Tibbs smiles, "Ahh, thinking of switching houses I see? Well what would you like?" ... Jerex being curious replies, "What do you recommend?" Tibbs looks at Jerex, "I suggest some Elven Mead and you get (1) free on the house. Here you go and Mr. Samuel usually meets people over there at that table." Jerex takes his glass of Elven Mead over to the table and starts drinking the mead. He is amazed how good it tastes and drinks the mead faster than he should. He starts feeling tipsy, stops drinking the mead, and he thinks to himself, "Wow what is this liquid?! I like the taste but I don't like what this liquid doing to me." No longer curious about the glass of Elven Mead which is 3/4 empty and being inquisitive of daily humanoid life, Jerex begins to study the other patrons of the Silver Dragon Tavern.

Unless psionics are special, detect magic/psionics, or psionic sensitivity:

Jerex is radiating massive amounts of psionic energy, this why his skin sparkles and eyes glow blue.

Cipher-3 reporting for inspection

A disconcertingly bright-eyed man walks in the bar and takes a stool at the end of the bar. He wears a bright scarf over an armored jacket that is embroidered with a number of elaborate geometric designs. His skin bears similar geometric designs by way of colorful tattoos.

He looks around for any games of cards or similar games of chance that are going on, but he seems distracted by something else.

Cipher, I think the background is wonderful, and it helps flesh out the House too.

My impression is that the only similarity between the cryptics is by class, so I am not terribly concerned about that.

Jerex watches a dark complected, tattooed, bright-eyed man wearing an interesting assemble of clothing and armor walk into the tavern and sit at the bar. Finding the man interesting from a "research" point of view, and without thinking or knowing he is doing something socially incorrect [One of the reasons why Jerex's Charisma is a whole (7)], he stares at the man (Eran) and grins while he watches what the man is going to do.

Yeah Malkus, you should have gone to the Silver Dragon Tavern ... LOL. If that is not the correct Tavern, by all means change it. I could not find a Tavern listed in Magnimar's list of locations. I need to still get the Golarion Campaign Setting guides.

I have interest in trying out for this. A Varisian diviner for your consideration; story in character sketch

Nanou Zeldana

Malkus enters the Silver Dragon Tavern. He notices a wizard (as best he can tell from the dress and geometric designs) at the bar and a tattoed man studying the man. Not certain if they are the individuals he is meeting or not and if the studying represents a potential risk for a bar fight or something else. He makes a decision to study the situation before approaching the individuals. He attempts to stealthily blend in with the crowd (with a Stealth Roll of 5+6=11) but doesn't do so very well. He notices he isn't blending in very well here with the crowd(Perc Roll of 12+4=16) and changes the plan and decided to approach the wizard.

A Half-Orc wearing initiate clerical vestments over a suit of unremarkable and somewhat well worn leather armor approachs Eran.
To the barkeep: "Ale, if you please"
To Eran: "How's it going goodsire? That Tatooed fellow a friend of yourse?"

Ali ibn Sabbah, here... LN Tiefling Monk (Hungry Ghost archetype if it's OK, seemed fitting).

He's under construction, but the nuts & bolts are there.

@GM Jen: Thanks. I really liked the idea of this class so it got me writing.

Eran is the tattooed fellow

In response to the half-orc (and rather willing to be distracted from the guy staring at him like a piece of meat), Eran says, "Eh, it goes well. Just looking for a game to pass the time, maybe make back what i spend in drinking money. What brings you here tonight?"

Anything you wish GM to be expanded in Cipher-3's profile?

A thick, stocky half-orc sits at a fairly central table near the bar, large mug on one side and a few plates of scraps on the other. His white robes, embroidered with silver spirals and sets of triple golden circles, suggest something of a clergy. His face and hands are clearly covered in ritualistic scars, pages of a vast tribal history written across his body in remembrance of his heritage. His visage is unsettling as he frowns a slightly toothy, orcish frown, the shadow of his brow darkening his face. He reaches into his robes and produces a set of dice that land hard on the table in his solid fist. He opens his hand to let them drop on the table, then scans the tavern with hard eyes. He stops, fixing an imposing gaze at a similarly large, dark-skinned, and tattooed human. He ponders him intensely, considering something. For a moment it almost appears as though the priestly half-orc would simply stand up and destroy the man, but slowly a smile breaks across his face, his posture becomes more upright, and he suddenly appears friendly and approachable, in spite of his tribal scars and in sharp contrast to only a moment earlier.

"Ho there, ox!" he says, beckoning with his hand in a broad and friendly gesture. "Want to try your luck?"

Does everyone here have tattoos or something?

Nanou and Cipher, your profiles/backgrounds are good to go.

The last thing I'm really looking at is the rp, and I'm already compiling the party list. If there's anyone that doesn't happen to make the cut, but I think they have a great character anyways, I will do my best to make sure that they see play in one of the other games in this experiment.

^

The last thing was not addressed to you two specifically, just something that seemed good to mention at the same time.

i have scribe tattoo as a class bonus feat at first level, and my character is all about patterns and such (hence his interest in both tattoos and games of chance). I will have my character respond to yours once Malkus replies to mine (dont want to ask him a question then walk away all weird-like)

Malkus drinks a great sip of ale, then says "Meeting some friends here shortly." before taking another sip. "Have you heard the one about the Forest gnome and the farmer's daughter...."

About that time or maybe before, a heavily scarred priest approachs (see above another player post of Marckus).

Malkus uses the interruption to look around the room for the House contact.

You aren't able to identify anyone in the building as your house contact. I'm liking this!

Among the bustle of the bar it is hardly unusual when another patron enters through the back entrance. He is greeted by name, and led to a table in the corner where a card reads Mr. Libretto. He stands by for a moment until a polished crate is brought and set in the booth, which the small creature climbs upon and sits with quiet dignity. As he ignites the lamp at the table light splashes on his form, revealing many creases and leathery skin of premature advanced age. His size and ears (and large head) obviously mark him as goblinoid, but his skin is a pale, beaten blue. He pulls out a pair of brass spectacles and polishes them with a weary sigh. Surveying the tavern, a favorite spot of his, he sees the beginnings of the dice game and smiles, he hadn't rigged dice since he was a whelp. The server brings him a dark, red, frothy, steaming beverage in a small cup. He graciously overpays. Reaching into his large purple sweater he produces a minute book, which he opens and grazes upon while he sips his cup and watches the room go by. Maybe he is expecting someone..
