M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Grafire heads outside via the front entrance to try a flank move to the outside back of the tavern. Once outside he will run to the back.

Rowan and Akahale are pretty much guaranteed success by the general uproar and kerfuffle in the Inn. Grafire goes outside to get in through the back.

Seram follow the dragonborn, Grafire, in the hope of chopping down whatever it is they are hunting.

MAnny looks confused.
{So, he looks pretty much normal, I guess.)

"Wait, what? Where are they going?" He asks IT.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Akahale pauses to enlighten Manny.

"Father Rowan has heard something suspicious," he hisses, eyes gleaming with enthusiastic paranoia.

"In the kitchen."

"It might even be that shrimp you talked about either way its worth finding out what else is out here," Rowan whispers.

"IT observes that 'they' are going in two different directions," IT offers unhelpfully.

IT will go whichever way Manny does

"Do they include mackerel? I hate mackerel!" Rowan quietly notes shuddering at the thought.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"Herring is the traditional component, but with careful smoking, mackerel may also be utilised."

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Grafire gets to the back of the inn he approaches the rear door carefully while keeping an alert status. He snarels, "Seems that somone or something is looking for trouble. Don't be afraid face your fate." The whole while he thumbs the sharpened blade of his axe checking to make sure that it will slice the thinest hair.

"This whole thing smells fishy to me!" The mage mutters as he starts to follow the others. Then he stops, and sighs.

"C'mon IT. Let's go make sure that no one sneaks out the front,... wouldn't THAT be ironic!?!?" He grumbles as he sloshes towards the front of the building, kvetching all the way about being wet, and soggy in places he didn't even realize he had!

Assuming amidst the comic banter, that someone opens the kitchen door...

Upon entering the kitchen, you see Piotr, the sour-faced proprieter of the Smooth Sailing, pouring some sort of foul ichor into the food and drink. He looks startled at the interruption and tries to run for the back door, only to be confronted by the rest of your party!

He drops to his knees and pleads, "I 'ad no choice! Please, don' kill me!"

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"What vile ingredients are you adding to the foodstuffs?"

Akahale advances on the trembling man.

"And why are you doing so?" he adds.

Intimidate check, please Akahale.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36 - Intimidate Piotr.

Akahale invests his simple words with a barely masked threat of evisceration.

Wow. Wotta roll!

Even though the addle-minded mage is not the subject of Akahale's intense gaze, the wizard suddenly finds himself struggling to control his bladder. He, quite deliberately, moves to place IT between himself and the frightening Dragonborn.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

He's always rolled ridiculously high intimidate checks. That's at least the second time he's critted an attempt to scare someone into submission. Matched by his frequent inability to hit anyone in combat though, so it does balance out.

Male Human Cleric of Bahamut 8th

"So... exactly how big are these shrimp?" Rowan asks taken a little off guard by how intimidating Akahale has just become.

"We better get rid of that stuff he just poisoned unless you want to threaten him with eating that stuff? No probably a wise choice certainly don't want the toilets backed up!" Rowan mutters as he proceeds to make sure thats all Piotr has contaminated...

other his trousers of course!

Just a reminder I won't be able to post after tonight since I'll be moving in about a week and my internet provider needs that time to switch over to my new home. Hopefully I'll be back online by the 25th but it might take up to the 30th with my luck!

I HATE moving,... HAve fun hopeless! ;P

The man looks startled but still keeps schtum. Perhaps Akahale was a little too scary!

Anyone else talking to him? Or Akahale again?

Don't know how long I'll be still able to post online so here goes!

"Perhaps you can start by explaining why you're doing this and please stick to the truth, my friend here has an unerring ability to tell when someone is telling porkies or in this case red herrings," Rowan gently coaxes the would be poisoner.

Diplomacy check1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

Diplomacy counts as a failure. The villagers are too fanatical.

Piotr shakes his head, tears starting to spring into his eyes, an odd sight in one so tough-looking.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 - Insight to see if Akahale can figure out a way to make Piotr spill beans. Probably not.

Akahale realises the man is afraid for his life.

1 further success and +2 to any PC's next Bluff or Intimidate check.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Akahale re-organises his face into a benevolent smile.

"Ahem. My apologies. It was not my intention to alarm you so extensively that you lost the power of speech. You already know that my comrades and I are well aware of your activities. It is my belief that you are rendering the hapless inhabitants of this inn malleable. Causing them to slumber deeply, so that Dagon's call may penetrate their subconscious minds. I believe also that you have doctored the breakfast kippers. Perhaps you could confirm?"

1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

What skill would that be?

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)
Fabes DM wrote:

Oops. Sorry. Bluff.

"Yes, yes, the leaders told me to do it. They're preparing a ceremony in the church."

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"Your leaders are now safely in the tentacles of Dagon, where they expressed a profound desire to slumber. What did you put in the kippers?"

N Warforged Fighter

"IT believes this is no longer correct, Innkeeper Piotr."

Intimidate check, please Akahale.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29

Akahale feels his flanges rising with irritation at the apparent inability of Piotr to answer a direct question. He reaches for his notepad.

3 Successes, 1 Failure. So far. :D

The man looks at IT, "But, what, I - we're all meant to be goin' there tonight for the gatherin'?! Aren't we?" he says in a confused manner.

"Innkeeper Piotr should not plan on attending a gathering."

Intimidate: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

MAndrake watches the proceedings thoughtfully. Occasionally he pokes around and peeks into cupboards, and more than once sniffs the herrings. The only change that he has to this behavior is when IT joins the dragonborn and Rowan in interrogating Piotr. He seems surprised, but not upset, about his bodyguards sudden talkativeness.

The innkeeper gets the hint and finally spills the beans, explaining that he was trying to poison the food and drink with a compound that would lower the willpower of anyone who ingested it. As so many had resisted the call of Dagon, he was afraid that as the guests at the Inn are his responsibility, that he would get the blame.

"It's the Alderman and Mother Sharallan ye want, not me!"

What? Just a simple statement of fact based on the likelihood of a meeting taking place. Not IT's fault if Piotr took it as threat!

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"We have already met them. Their arguments were not convincing."

Akahale's eyes whirl slightly as he remembers the exact circumstances of those meetings.

The man's eyes grow wider as he gets the implications of the words of the party.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Grafire step through the rear door way. "Ha, what do we got here? Need any help takin out the trash." Grafire looks at the inn keeper after hearing his story about the plans tonight. Grafire's thumb still rubbing across the blade of his axe.

After speaking his look draws down to the wickedly sharp blade and he enjoys scraping his thumb across it. "Hmm, seems that we could use a bit more information about this cerimony tonight. What might you know about that, inn keeper?" Grafires glance move slowly over to the inn keeper, and he looks sternly into the inn keepers eyes.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Akahale watches and waits to see if his egg-brother's threats produce any further information.

The ceremony will never happen because you ended up killing everyone underneath the church.

"Eh, um... Mother Sharallan and Alderman Ritter was gonna lead us all in a ceremony so we'd be spared from the Father's wrath..."

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Akahale taps his notepad thoughtfully.

"In your view, what would be the likely response of Dagon should the ceremony not take place? I must advise you that Mother Sharallan and your misguided civic leader are defunct and their participation is no longer an issue."

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

"Hehe, urgmph." Grafire tries to cover up his snicker. "Cough, cough, excuse me I had a scratch in my throat. As you were saying Akahale."

I couldnt resist, I snickered here reading it so its only appropriate I post it.

"I... uh.. I dunno," the man says. It is clear he is not privy to the inner workings of the Demon Princes of the Abyss.

"Oh, for crying out loud,..." Manny mutters as he closes the lid of a large pot after sniffing it's contents suspiciously.

"What he's trying to say is that we've removed your leaders, and taken care of several attempts to remove US by your fishy-face friends with 'extreme prejudice'. We're tired, hungry and WET, and it's making me cranky! With your main leaders gone,. whose next in line to be in charge? And do you know where they are? I know you've been told that we're your enemies, but we're trying to HELP you, you big oaf! Dagon is no one's friend, and he doesn't have partners, he has 'pets', or 'food'. So unless one of those options sounds good to you, you should probably help us to end this problem, or move,... to another town,... today." Manny gripes, rambling and waving his arms with every declaration.

Intimidate or Bluff (same +0 mod)

1d20=11

Manny isn't exactly intimidating,... is he? ;P

The man looks at Manny with a confused expression. It seems you have all that you're likely to gain out of him.

XP for a skill challenge to be allocated when I can get to the adventure again.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

"Alrighty, lets throw this stuff out and see what else is there to eat?"

perception check:1d20+4=12

Grafire finds some food that hasn't been contaminated.

Terza comes in, "So, the whole town is against us." she says calmly, "What's your next course of action?"
