Milena studies the assassin while Vandrake presses him.

Evengi smiles jauntily at the woman.

"Well you look like a woman who knows how to have a good time. Tell me, if I were a rich sot like one of them Falrins, where would I go to grab a drink?"

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

Prison (Vandrake, Milena)

Milena notices small things which Vandrake is unable to pick up. A slight pause before speaking. Hands tightening when speaking. He is either lying, or is unsure of the truth. Argument from ignorance maybe? Either way, Milena can tell there is something that the prisoner is not revealing.

"Razgrizz sometimes requires Justice to be dispensed. Justice requires punishment. Punishments for the nations which defied him in the past."

Knowledge (History) DC15:

Nethys and the Khallan Empire have never had a serious, official dispute. Indeed, Algar Razinor - the Red Devil - fought in the defense of Nethys during the Gandian revolution.

City Park (Arry, Lysi, Eftil)

"You certainly had a battle yesterday though didn'tchu merc? Heard you almost had a building come down on your head. Folks are talking about it, y'know. And as for my travels, little girl... well. Once you've seen many things, it becomes much harder to get excited, especially about small things. Nothing in the world is special. No matter what you do, someone else has done it before you."

Rodrik's Flat (Rodrik)

"At least the Khallans never change. If they see something they don't like, they try to stop it, no mercy. I am surprised though. The work seems a little sloppy for the Inquisition. Speaking of the Inquisition, I must go, there is an interrogation to oversee. We could discuss the details there? I believe both the priest and the monk will be joining us. Going to be gruesome business if the Inquisition still has the same mettle they used to." Jobe starts an easy pace towards the Harbor, allowing Rodrik to keep up just fine.

The Hound's Hearth (Evengi)

"Well, got some coin you're looking to spend eh? I've seen that Lady Falrin down at one of them sheesha dens. The new one called Lyrian Rising. Sehlashi stuff's hard to come by these days, and I hear they have more than just tobacco down there. Stuff don't come cheap, and a handsome man like yourself should steer clear, were I you." A contented smile and a pull on the flask she's carrying indicates quite clearly that relaxing in this alleyway is exactly what she enjoys. "Rum is much cheaper than smoking - whatever you smoke - that's for damn sure."

"You are being meek. You are lying to us. How weak is thy faith that thou should equivocate before two that the faithful of Razgriz would view as weak and unworthy of fear. I see now that I shall have to reveal the strength of a new faith to show you the folly of your resistance."

Vandrake's hand drops to The Diamond Symbol about his heck. "Have you ever contemplated perfection of a flawless diamond? The rarity of such a diamond is nearly beyond comprehension, but merely attempting to comprehend is an laudable exercise. One that causes wisdom to grow within one's self as a tree in fertile soil. Slowly it grows at first until it towers majestically as it reaches for the heavens and the wisdom and power that lies therein."

"Bear witness to the power that such contemplation reveals. Lord of the Flawless Hierarchy, I call upon thee. Reveal thyself in glory before the eyes of this faithful servant of Razgriz. Reveal unto him the truth of thy power and allow him to see the folly of silence."

"So? How does someone else doing the same thing before you could make it any less special? People get married all the time, and that is special! People make friends, read books, travel, build, and create art and it's still special! I'm am not going to stop seeing what is special just because some else already has! I am not going to give up on that!"

Lysi nodded and looked at the man with pity. "I think that's probably the saddest thing I ever heard. There's miracles all around you and you're missing them."

Eftil shrugs. "He has a point. Isn't much new in this world. Even less exciting."

Good enough. Damn...I wish I had Eftil around...

Evengi smiles and flips the lady a silver, not waiting to see if she catches it, but whirls away on his boot-heel and heads out of the alleyway.

Lyrian Rising...the family must be fairly debauched if the Lady is wasting time in a sheesha den. Nothing like rotting the brain and sapping the will...well at least I know where this place is...its been the talk of the stock-room for the last few days.

Evengi made his way down the streets, his boots rapping on the cobblestones. Soon he stood across the street from the den. It was tucked in what was an old boarding house on the edge of the district, right were the houses of the upperclass turned to the shops of the middleclass. The building was nondescript, what looked like a normal house. Evengi wouldn't have even known it existed but for some deliveries of furniture and oddities from the shop, and the wagging tongues of the workers setting up the Lyrian Rising bragging to the stock room boys.

I don't think barging in going to work this time. I should just keep my eyes open for a few days until I see her go in.

Evengi found a doorway of a closed shop a bit down the street and tucked in to wait...patient as a hunter in the woods.

Opening her palms in a sign of peace, Milena approaches softly and speak as softly to the assassin: "Justice? What do you mean? I thought Nethys and the Khallan Empire never had a serious, official dispute. In fact, didn't the Red Devil fight in the defense of Nethys during the Gandian revolution? Please, what are you not telling us?"

She keeps studying the man. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Prison (Vandrake, Milena, Rodrik)

Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

The prisoner's attitude shift from cold, stiff hostility to a warmer if still stiff camaraderie with Vandrake. "As I was saying, Razgrizz does not wish for the alliance between Corail and Nethysia to exist, but his armies are currently occupied in claiming former Sehlashian lands for the Glory of the Empire. The undead abominations that wander the desert there are still quite fierce. I was chosen, as a member of the Inquisition to distrupt any negotiations between the two countries."

At this time, Jobe and Rodrik have arrived at the prison. Vandrake and Milena can clearly hear the door to the prison open, and Jobe's voice echoes down the hallway. "Warden, good morning. How's our prisoner?" The warden's voice is more muffled, but sounds conversational enough.

Rodrik:

The Warden: "Oh, doing fine. The two priests are already in the cell, speaking with him by the sounds of it."

"You know wha IS exciting? The tales of tha Champions of Silval. The brith an death of gods, powers tha rock tha world." The dark-skinned man looks almost wistful. "I'da liked to see that."

Lysi smiled. "Well, I can agree with that. They are very exciting stories. You should hear Diri tell them sometimes. He does voices and everything. It's awesome!"

Milena tries to lead the prisoner to open up some more: "The threat of Sehlashian is very real, and Khallan helps us all in addressing it.Tell me, how many of you were sent here? Surely a nation like Khallan could only spare but a few..."

"I hear a lot when I am away." Diri admits.

"He's one of the best storyteller's I've ever heard, and I've been to a festival. Course, he can't at the same time, but that doesn't matter, it only distracts you from the story anyway."

Male Tiefling (Devil-spawn) [Native Outsider] Inquisitor of Asmodeus (Infiltrator)

"That is noble work indeed. Where are the other members of the Inquisition? You must have a means of entering the city. You must have allies. Please, tell us more, friend. The Sister and I are intrigued. Perhaps we ourselves might be convinced to assist the Inquisition. Who might we talk to should we be interested? The plans of the Razgrizz are of interest to one such as myself, one of his faithful., says Vandrake.

"There was a time when I would've heard the sounds of an interrogation coming down the hallway 'round here. Seems like they've used a gentler touch than our captive would've." Rodrik replies, before turning to Jobe, "Let's catch the tail end of the interrogation, I'd like to see our friends' work." With a gesture, Rodrik orders Xander to stay. Xander lies down near the door, ears perked up at attention.
