Equipment:
Boar Spear: 5 gp, 8 lb. Eftil's first spear, retained for sentimental value and for close-quarters fighting.
Longspear: 5 gp, 9 lb. A very ordinary weapon, purchased by Eftil early in his career after being nearly defeated by several ranseur-wielding bandits.
Studded Leather Armor: 25 gp, 20 lb. A rather worn suit of cowhide, accompanied by a thin leather cap.
Backpack: 2 gp, 2 lb.
Bedroll: 1 sp, 5 lb.
Masterwork Tool: 50 gp, 1 lb. A false set of spectacles and a polishing cloth. Whatever their original purpose, Eftil uses them as an excuse to avoid eye contact. This usually helps disguise his lies, though using it too reliably can establish a pattern which makes the deception obvious. +2 bonus to Bluff.

TOTAL WEIGHT: 45 lb. Light Load (100 lb).
Eftil doesn't remember much of his childhood. He has a vague memory of an orphanage in the woods, and a clock tower, and he remembers being quite emotional. That last bit has stuck with him. He knows he used to be abnormally excitable, but he isn't now.
His lapse in memory has never really bothered him, though. Nor has he ever considered returning to the orphanage.
Eftil left when he turned thirteen. Or ran away? He's a bit foggy. He made his way through the woods, but stumbled upon a hornet nest.
That's when he discovered he's extremely allergic to bee stings.
Only the intervention of a wandering boar-hunter saved Eftil's life. Eftil remembers quite clearly (his first proper clear memory, in fact) being thrown into a pond, and drinking some odd potions.
The boar hunter took Eftil as a sort of apprentice, and Eftil learned how to wield a spear.
But Eftil wasn't interested in killing innocent animals. So he thanked the hunter for the help, promised to pay him back one day and got a job in a nearby city as a guard.
The work was extremely boring. So Eftil quickly moved on to taking mercenary jobs. This was much more exciting. Eftil began picking up jobs from town to town--though he avoided ever leaving Coraillan, as a practical matter--and has been doing so ever since.
And now Eftil's in Lord's Landing. And he's hit a bit of a dilemma.
He's met the hunter. And Lantern the cinder (Eftil refuses to learn his actual name) is trying to get him to fight for Coraillan in the civil war.
Eftil hates wars. He initially refused. But Lantern keeps pestering him, appealing to Eftil's fondness for codes and oaths. Lantern insists that Eftil could be quite useful, and that commanders would love his suicidal tendencies.
Eftil is looking for any way out, he is trying to find some sort of diversion...but he has agreed to consider it.
Personality/Appearance:
Eftil is a stout man, with thin black hair, dark skin and black eyes that mark him as a noctal. He wears battered leather armor and a worn leather cap--the only clothing he has kept in good repair are his fine leather boots.
Eftil has a great deal of scars. One would think, with all his scars, Eftil is simply not very good at dodging. In fact, it's Eftil's single-minded pursuit of danger that gets him his unpalatable appearance.
Eftil seeks out adventure with a drive that unnerves even his employers. He fears little, and that may be his greatest weakness in a fight. Eftil would do quite well if he fought with allies, but he's never slowed down enough to acquire any.
The truth is, Eftil is almost desperate to encounter interesting things. He is rarely genuinely excited or emotional, though he's gotten good at faking it. He claims it's 'a noctal thing', but most noctals don't have his problem. Eftil barely even fears death.
But Eftil doesn't let his anxiety over this show. He speaks calmly and slowly (when he speaks at all) and does his best to avoid social situations. He doesn't display much self-awareness, though, nor foresight, and often forgets that 'ban' when he sees someone he might like to talk to. Unfortunately, Eftil has a tendency to speak his mind about everything. When he thinks to lie, he's fairly deceptive, but he doesn't often think to lie. Hence the ban.
