Darinius |

Darinius focuses his attacks on the last remaining foe.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
And possibly misses.

Narissth |

My first pbp death was getting knocked unconscious fighting a boss, and then the party cleric decided to heal me to about 5 hp, you can guess what happened next.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

Well, even if not healed, I'm still grappled, that healing puts me exactly at 0, not a very comfortable number. Could I make a bluff check to feign death?
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 <- Respectable if I can, I'll even dismiss the disguise self to make it more convincing, as at this point he likely knows it's an illusion.

Thribden Malkut Diniya |

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to roll a 6. Anything less would have left her unconscious, but a lot more stable. Which is what I had been hoping for. And as much as I would love to redo that, redoing an action because the dice were better than I expected isn't much different than redoing it because they were worse.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

stabilize: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5 Shiori bleeds more, by this point the corner of the room seems stained in the woman's blood.

![]() |

Exiel sneers. Why don't you take on someone who's actually hurting you, you moron?
His stomach, however, is in a knot at the creature's relentless assault on Shiori. Come on, come get me instead.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Narissth |

Once more, Narissth fires at the creature, not really expecting the arrow to hit, but hoping nonetheless.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 - 4 - 4 = 19 <-- HIT, at last
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 + 1 - 4 - 4 = 5
Damage: 2d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 + 2 = 9

Thribden Malkut Diniya |

That looks like 2 or 3 hits for 11 to 22 damage. I'm going to run off the assumption that this killed the monster. If I'm wrong, I'll make another attack against it.
As Thribden sees the monster collapse, she quickly reaches down, grabbing Shiori and pulls her away from the fallen thing. Out of my way. Make some room. She drags the woman to a clear space on the floor and begins working immediately.
Rebuke Death: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Rebuke Death: 1d4 ⇒ 3 That should bring you up to 1
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Alright. Should be at about 7 now. That's my last spontaneous casting. We'll leave it there for now. But all this assumes the monster's dead, so let's see how that worked out first.
Attack in case I'm wrong: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Gorou Kaijitsu |

"Is she going to be okay?!" Gorou worriedly asks Thribden as she leans over Shiori and begins working. He pushes his mask back to reveal a pale, chubby, sweat covered mess. He looks very worried until he sees Shiori coming to under Thribden's ministrations. "Jie! Thank the gods..." After Shiori is back up and okay, Gorou will suggest, "We ought to search this place. I have no idea what that creature was, but there might be some information about what happened to Walthus in here somewhere."
Gorou will take 20 to search the house. It'll take several minutes at least but yield a 23 on perception.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

"Now I know what a boomerang feels like." Shiori says, dismissing the illusion of Shalelu, standing up and dusting herself off.
"So I'm taking it that wasn't really Walthus, so where is the real Walthus?" Shiori asks looking at the creature's limp body near her.

![]() |

Tripp is the first to speak, hoping that the sight of another halfling will put the ranger more at ease... He motions to the dead snakes and the dead creature (speaking of creature, did my K. dungeoneering check ever reveal anything?)
"It's ok! We killed it! I'd wager you must be the real Walthus? What happened here? Are you ok? What was that creature that was pretending to be you?"

MiniGM |

no it did not tripp
I was tending to my snakes...which I am sad to see are now all dead...when It came on me. We fought from the yard to the house, eventually it pinned me down and started to drain me of my life essence, I finally wriggled away and got to my safe room upstairs. I am glad you arrived when you did, eventually it would have found me or I would have run out of food

![]() |

Tripp looks shamefully at the snake blood on the tip of his sword...
"I... the snakes attacked us, I think that creature was controlling them! Do you have any idea what that thing was? Did you not hear us outside trying to talk to the thing?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Oh dear... I don't think I've had a decent roll this entire game! Can I take 10 on diplo?

MiniGM |

It was a faceless stalker, though an underdeveloped one. They can take on the form of virtually anything. I suspect my snakes thought it was me. I had passed out from the pain, I only woke during your battle, and it takes a good minute or so to get out of the safe room. I appreciate your freeing me from its clutches.
What brought you here to begin with? He asks as he puts away his weapons.
I am Walthus, and who might you be? Can I offer you some tea?

Thribden Malkut Diniya |

Thribden sits back, blood covering her hands. Her voice is tired as she asks, Then, you are hurt too? Let me examine you, I may be able to help. Some, not as much as I could have earlier, but some. Wary of her earlier experience with this face, Thribden waits for permission before she begins examining him.
Heal to find out what's wrong: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Thribden Malkut Diniya |

I am Thribden Malkut Diniya, but I go by Thribden. We came for help in finding the goblins in this marsh, and ending their threat, she says, nodding in acceptance of the tea.

MiniGM |

Yes, but tea first!
Walthus finds chairs enough for all, and gets a kettle heating, he returns in a few minutes with tea for all, and some scones.
I apologize for these being a bit stale, but I have not been cooking much the past couple days.
He makes himself a cup with a generous glob of honey and lets Thribden examine his wounds. Mostly they have scabbed over and are healing, mainly he seems to still be suffering from blood loss.

![]() |

"My name is Tripp Tumblefoot, it is good to see another Halfling in these lonely marshes, especially one skilled with a sling! This is Lucille, and she is my pride and joy"
He pats his sling staff and then eagerly stuff a scone into his mouth as he pours his tea. Halfings love scones and tea.

Darinius |

Darinius sits down awkwardly on the halfling sized chair, still somewhat stunned at how fast the party went from battle to tea-time.

![]() |

He delicately hands it to Walthus, as would would hand a baby to its uncle or some something like that.
"She is the finest. And she never tells you ta loose wait or drink less!!"
Tripp laughs like a hyena at himself.

![]() |

Good sir, we thank you for the offer of refreshments and shelter, and after the rather...eventful trip here we are most thankful. However, we were also sent to you by Shalelu Andosana. She told us that none know this area better than you, and that you would be the best person to direct us to the hideout of the Licktoad goblin tribe, whom we have been sent to...take care of. Are you able to help in that regard? Furthermore, anything you can tell us about their recent activities, their numbers and notable allies would be useful.
And I'll take Gorou's earlier advice if a diplomacy check is needed: Take 10 for 18. Hopefully mentioning Shalelu's name and that we're clearing out goblins will also give me a +2 circ. bonus to bump me up to 20? =)

MiniGM |

well unfortunately I am not in much condition to help physically. However the lick toads have been far more active of late, something big happened a few days ago though I never got out there to see what. Their village is a good days hike southeast through the marsh, though you also have to cross a large span of water as well, I isially swim it. Not too many dangers out there other than the soggy river monster, which I have yet to track to its lair, but I will eventually.

Thribden Malkut Diniya |

Thribden begins putting together some herbs she has together into a poultice for both Walthus and Shiori There is something I can do for you, but unfortunately, I have no magic for it. Here put this on your wounds, you too Shiori. I'll need to change it frequently, but it should help you regain what blood you've lost. she stops fire a moment and looks up at Exiel, this will be far more effective however if we are able to stay the night.
Long term care take a 10 for a total of 17. That is if we're staying.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

"I don't know, I could use some tea." Shiori says weakly.

![]() |

Exiel smiles reassuringly.
Not a problem, Walthus, we understand that you have been through much already and your hospitality to reinvigorate us for the journey and battle ahead is plenty of help already.
Turning to the others, he states:
Well then, a day's hike South-East, cross some water along the way and looking out for a soggy river monster. Though I see no reason we can't rest up for the journey before setting off, if...
and at this point he turns to Walthus with a friendly but tentative smile
it is not too much trouble.
Knowledge nature to know what a 'soggy river monster' is:
Knowledge Nature (untrained): 1d20 ⇒ 10

MiniGM |

What rock have you all been living under? In any event not much. It is a creature that lives out there in the marsh, pale skin, very hard to catch sight of. I caught a glimpse of it once. It kills things out in the marsh, fishermen that get off trail, animals that get lost, its fair share of goblins as well. No one knows what it is though

Darinius |

Well, whatever it is, it might have been following us on our way into the swamp. Darinius thinks back to whatever it was that the others thought they saw following the party during their hike through the swamp.

![]() |

Very hard to catch sight of, huh. I wonder...
Shiori, back at that mound, when you caught sight of something briefly...did it by any chance have pale skin? It's possible that the mound might have been the lair of the creature, or at least its hunting grounds. If so, it might be a good idea to take care of it there, rather than risk trying to fight it whilst we're trying to swim across the water, where it will have a greater advantage.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

Shiori nods, "I believe it did, however I only caught a glimpse of it, whatever it was it wasn't interested in staying still long enough for me to get a good look, and with the blood loss it's harder to remember it even more." She puts her hand on her forehead as she speaks trying to recall more information.

Gorou Kaijitsu |

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Do I recognize the description of the pale skinned soggy river monster?
"Thank you for offering your home to us Walthus, I am honored we were able to help you. I agree that if it is an entire day's journey we should first rest here." Gorou is happy for the tea, and sips it contentedly while he thinks about possible fits for the description of the soggy river monster.

MiniGM |

Gorou you have heard the tales of drunks wandering out into the marsh on dares and not coming back or finding animal corpses, but the description does not fit anything you have heard of (in any of your knowledges, you assume that the reality is that no one has gotten a good look at it and the descriptions are exaggerated
Please you must all try a scone, in fact I have a hankering to do a little baking. Cake or pie? He says this as he moves into the other room, andd rummages through the larder. He comes back with various things for baking. Then stops and looks at everyone.
I want you all to have this. He says as he pulls his cloak from a peg on the wall. This is reinforced with magics, minor though they may be.
1d7 ⇒ 1 he hands it to Tripp
Now as I was saying, cake or pie?

Narissth |

Narissth licks his rat lips at the mention of pie.
Pie would be wonderful. I have not had a good pie in a long time. My mentor in Ilsurian use to make a wonderful plum pie.

Gorou Kaijitsu |

"I could eat some pie...and some cake." Gorou says innocently, rubbing his portly belly. It was a long enough walk, that's for sure. Those trail rations just don't cut it. I'm starving. In the meantime, the younger Kaijitsu begins to eat scones. He shows little regard for whether the others get any, and will begin eating at a slow and steady pace, not stopping until all the sweets are gone. If anyone else wants to enjoy Wlathus's cooking, it looks like they will need to step in now.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

"That depends what kind of pie are you talking about." Shiori asks curiously, before adding, "If anyone else wants anything I suggest you get it now before my brother eats everything."

Thribden Malkut Diniya |

Thribden eats little of her scone. Instead, she spends her time fussing about Shiori and Walthus. At one punt she asks, Is anybody else hurt?
Once she is satisfied with the wounded in the room, she turns to Walthus again, I would love some pie. I don't think I've had plum pie since a few lives ago. That sounds delicious. She licks her lips, then frowns, of course if I remember right, I don't think I looked plums back then. She leans in computationally towards Shiori, That was back when I was called Diniya Trebar Han
