Tripp sits in a comfy chair by the fire (the comfiest one available, to the chagrin of some of the elder patrons). Casually pondering a book as he hovers over his mug of ale that is just about as tall as him. At mention of the heroes of Sandpoint, his head pops up for a moment before he continues back to his reading and drinking.
'Hmm... I never did get a good chance to talk to those folks... I bet they would make an interesting report...'

Darinius |

Darinius hunches over a table on the periphery of the room, intent on his project of what appears to be making a rubbing of something into a notebook.
He tears out a page in frustration and tosses it in the general direction of the first before taking his charcoal and trying to get the rubbing one more time. σβήνω αίμα!

![]() |

His ears pricking up at the sound of what is obviously a loud curse (thought he doesn't know the langauge), Tripp sets down his book and glances over at the source of the sound.
"Seems like you are having a hard time of it, friend. What're you working on there?"

Shiori Kaijitsu |

"Ok, who ordered the curried venison?" Shiori asks carrying in a couple plates of steaming hot rice accompanied by meat and vegetables, the smell consuming the senses as it wafts by. "Fresh out of the kitchen." She says, placing a plate in front of Darinius and then one near Tripp. "I made it myself, make sure you tell me what you think." she adds.
This was her first time currying deer, she'd curried other meats before, mainly chicken and she'd tried to make her sister's curried salmon before, but it was never quite as good as her sister's.

![]() |

"It seems you have your sister's knack for kitchening. I do not believe we have met, you were probably a little bit younger when I last rolled through Sandpoint. Names Tripp Tumblefoot. That 'Tee-ree-double pee tumblefoot'!"

Shiori Kaijitsu |

Shiori seems pleased to know that she didn't ruin the venison, knowing that Ameiko would not have been happy if she had.
"Shiori, Shiori Kaijitsu." The tien girl says with a slight bow, adding "Your name is Tripp, but there's no 'I'? Is there a triple pee tumblefoot?" She asks the small man, not entirely sure on the naming standards of the halflings.

Darinius |

Darinius looks up from his work as Shiori emerges with the curry. He sniffs appreciatively as it approaches and is places in front of him. This does smell good. Far better than any of the food in Korvosa. My compliments to the chef, Miss Kaijitsu.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

"Well, you know those Cheliaxians, they always cook with hellfire I say." Shiori says with a chuckle, though she's not entirely sure what set the halfling off as the little guy seems to be laughing enough for a doubleling. "And food just doesn't taste the same with cooked over hellfire." She smiles at her own comment as if impressed with herself that she could come up with such a line.

![]() |

whoops I meant it to be ARR and AYE, making it a bad pirate pun lol.
As if his own joke wasn't enough, the young Kaijitsu nearly sent him doubling over.
"Oh my, missy, that's a good'un. I sure love a good joke at the expense of those Chelish devils!"

Oops, I was still watching the recruitment page. Am copying/adapting my posts here.
Darinius, since you're already named your spear, does this mean you've worked out a tale for it of your own? Or will you still be waiting to hear the tale I've spun? I'll have Exiel note it, but he could still be mistaken.
------------------------------------------
A little ways away from the commotion, Exiel sits silently, sipping his tea somewhat disinterestedly as he maintains his vigil. He alternates between staring out a window to the street and back into the taproom below, blind to all faces save for that of a particular elven lass (ok she's probably significantly older than Exiel, but to him, she's a lass).
As evening approaches, he starts to take note of the exchange between Shiori and the large human in the flashy cloak, and it is not long before his eyes are drawn to the spear by the big man's side. A clink of porcelain-on-porcelain rings out from the balcony as Exiel gives a start and inadvertently drives his shin into a table leg. For the first time this evening, the whereabouts of a pretty elven archer are not at the forefront of his thoughts.
Barely noticing the throbbing in his shin, Exiel eyes the big man's spear intently. His right fist clenches tightly and presses itself firmly against his mouth as his brow furrows in consternation.
That spear... Could it really be THAT spear? What is it doing HERE? It should have been buried with him! He should have been buried with full honour, his weapon by his side... He of all people DESERVED that much...
Absorbed in his thoughts, he barely notices that the tavern has by now become packed with a disparate collection of colourful individuals, each seeking the comforts of food, drink and music as the cool of the evening sets in.
Food, drink, music, and perhaps a whisper or two of worthy ventures to embark on.

Darinius |

Darinius sees Exiel eyeing his spear from the loft and slides the weapon farther under the table. He flips the cloth wrapping back over the leather sheathe on the table before hunching back over his food, noticeably more apprehensive than before.

![]() |

Exiel flushes slightly as he realises he had been caught gawking. Regaining his composure, he does his best to act nonchalant and returns to his tea.
No, it has to be a mistake. It's too much of a coincidence, and though I saw his spear many times, it's not like I ever examined it closely. For all I know, there could even be several similar spears made by the same smith. You're imagining things, Exiel. You've been away from home for too long.
But even as he tells himself that, he finds that he can't help but continue to note the large man's position, and the position of the spear under the table by his side.

MiniGM |

The door bangs open and in walks Shalelu and Ameiko flanking Sherrif Belor.
The sheriff looks around and lands his eyes on Ameikos younger siblings.
Uncanny how much those too look like you Amy…
----
Except I am far prettier Sherriff.
---
Uh huh he says not really paying attention, he has already moved to hammer a notice onto the wall.
Folks as some of you know we suspended the goblin ear bounty after those poor fools got swept out to see a few seasons back. Well as you also all may know the lick toad tribe has been getting bolder, they managed to secure a crate of fireworks and they think they are gods now. I am looking around and I see many young faces here, be careful go in a group, unless you are Shalelu here. Good hunting folks!
The sherif turns with his stack of fliers and heads off to post more at the other taverns.
knock yourselves out folks RP away, Shalelu and Ameiko are present

Darinius |

Goblins, are you f%+%ing kidding me? Darinius rolls his eyes at the poster, then takes a look into his presumably depressingly light coin purse and looks back at the poster far less contemptuously.

Gorou Kaijitsu |

Gorou had just emerged from the kitchen when Ameiko, Shalelu and Hemlock walked into the Rusty Dragon. He was licking curry off one of his chubby fingers as he appeared. He nods to his fellow Pathfinder. "Tripp," he says by way of greeting. Wonder what's so funny? he thinks, having missed the joke. Then he walks up to Shiori and rests his hand briefly on her shoulder, "Nice work Jie, it's almost as tasty as DaJie's," he says with a chuckle, looking to Ameiko. He walks over to read the bounty notice curiously, holding one hand on the scabbard of spine splitter, his long nodachi, to keep it from banging into tables and chairs as he passes.
"Looks like it's finally time for some adventure, eh sisters? Lick toad tribe....hmm....lick toad tribe...." Gorou mutters to himself, trying to recall some useful information about the group.

Exiel's thought processes are quickly re-aligned at the sight of the golden-haired elf. Hastily straightening his clothes, he picks up a carefully-wrapped cloth package from the chair beside him and pads down the stairs to the taproom below.
Goblins, huh. Isn't a goblin within a hundred miles that doesn't tremble at the mere mention our Shalelu. Wouldn't surprise me if she's put down more of them than the Sandpoint AND Magnimar combined! I wonder if it'd get her attention if I went out there and put down a few of them myself, may be even deal with that goblin chief. But first things first.
Exiel smiles warmly at Shalelu as he approaches her and Ameiko.
Well met, Shalelu! Haven't seen you around town for awhile. I take it you're the source of the Sheriff's latest intel? Sounds like you've been busy!
In his preoccupation with Shalelu, Exiel has thoroughly forgotten to say hi to Ameiko as well. This is intentional on my (the player's) part, but entirely UNintended on Exiel's. NPCs and and PCs are welcome to point it out.

MiniGM |

Ameiko steps in front of Shalelu, Nice to see you to Ex. With that she winks at Shalelu and moves off to the kitchens.
Oh you know me always out and about, but today I was seeing my old friends from the excitement from a few years back. She says with a winning smile and twinkle in her eye.

Gorou Kaijitsu |

"If I recall correctly, the Lick-Toads live in Brinestone Marsh. Who else is ready to do some goblin hunting?" Gorou asks the others in the common room. His excitement about finally getting out of the Rusty Dragon is temporarily overcoming his normally reserved nature. He goes to retrieve his oni-mask helmet and to strap on his armor. He returns to the common room a few minutes later, geared for battle and a little sweaty.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

"Amei-ne!" Shiori says, giving her sister a firm hug before she makes it back to the kitchen. She then turns her attention to Gorou. "Gorou, you're back, how's the society been treating you?"
She then pauses for a moment before adding, "Why do we need to get the goblin's ears, that's just nasty, and the head of the chief, gruesome, people are eating here!"

Gorou Kaijitsu |

Gorou's been back for a few weeks...
"Well enough, actually. Sorry we haven't had much time to hang out since I got back, you've been so busy with the Rusty Dragon. That and well, you know how I need my alone time," he replies to Shiori. He chuckles a bit at Shiori's Minkaian nickname for their elder sister. He always thought the tri-lingual nature of their family was odd, especially since he'd become so much more used to Tien during his time in Goku. Whatever, it's all the same in the end. "So did you learn anything besides imitating DaJie's cooking while I was gone?"

Shiori Kaijitsu |

Shiori puffs up her cheeks, "So in the end it's only an imitation to you huh, well, I'm sorry I'm not as good as Amei-ne, but good luck finding anyone who is, and if you do, marry her, and quickly before she has a chance to realize what you're really like!" Shiori says in a pouting tone. She then turns to the kitchen adding "I hope nothing's broken back there, it'd be a real hassle to clean it up." she lets out a sigh at the end before heading off to peak into the kitchen.
"Everything all right in here?"

Gorou Kaijitsu |

Gorou waddles behind Shiori, curious as to what caused the noise as well. "I mean, it's only an imitation because it's curry. If you tried something totally new, that you made up, it might be better than DaJie's." He stands behind Shiori, and resting his hands on her shoulders peeks over her head at what's going on.

Thribden Malkut Diniya |

Thribden walks into the Rusty Dragon. She sighs heavily. She begins to make her way to a table but stops when she sees a group of people gathered around a piece of paper nailed to the wall. Hmph! It's about time, she says once she's read the notice. These goblins and their fireworks have been causing too much trouble. I suppose it is time they face her judgement. It is not clear who "her judgement" refers to, but the only explanation Thribden gives is the simple spiral she draws in the air over her heart.

Wha-? I, uh, oh hey Amei...ko... Exiel stammers to Ameiko's back as he realises what's happened. He turns his attention back to Shalelu, desperately hoping his face isn't as red as he feels it to be.
Uh, yeah, I remember those guys. I hear they've done pretty well for themselves too. They're fixing up Fort Rannick these days, aren't they? It's a shame Sheriff Hemlock forbade me going with them back then on account of "incomplete-training". But I suppose it hasn't been all bad either, remaining in Sandpoint near...um...my friends. Besides, it looks like I may get my chance at adventure this time. Exiel says brightly as he indicates the flier left behind by Belor Hemlock.
Swallowing a phantom ioun-stone that had somehow found its way into his throat, Exiel unwraps the package in his hands and proffers it to Shalelu. Within the green silk scarf lavishly embroidered with golden leaf patterns is a small box of maple wood carved with little images of woodland creatures, their eyes set with semi-precious stones that glint prettily in the soft ambient light.
So I...uh was at Ven's the other day, and I saw this. It's got some good camping supplies in it, and I was thinking that no one in Sandpoint would put it to better use than you, so I thought, well, um...yeah.
And at this point Exiel is absolutely certain that his cheeks have gone redder Shiori's hair.
It's a masterwork survival kit, and I've also deducted an additional 20gp for the decorations. =)

Narissth |

A minute or so after Shalelu and the sheriff enter the Rusty Dragon, a short hooded man enters the inn. Although he has been staying in the Rusty Dragon for nearly a week, he has met few people as his long ingrained distrust of others has been hard to overcome despite the generally kind reception that he has received.
Seeing the group looking at the notice on the wall, his curiosity gets the better of him. Narissth steps up and moves between the group to see what the commotion is about.
Goblins, I thought that most of them had been wiped out. At least most vermin know to stay underground.

Tripp listens intently as Sheriff Hemlock and Ameiko talk about the Licktoad tribe and the reinstating of the goblin bounty. He thinks back on his knowledge of the area, but finds the years of consistent travel and heavy drinking has left his memory... lacking at best.
Watching the sheriff leave, which is just as good, Tripp motions for Shalelu to head over, seeing the Kaijitsus engrossed in what appears to be some sort of happy family hoedown.
"Shalelu, you know these lands better than anyone I have ever met. Do you think these Licktoad runts are really any trouble? If so, what sort of resistance do you think we would face were we to head down there?"

MiniGM |

That draws a good laugh from the room. Well said! the man known as Sandru says as he saunters in from the back where he had knocked over a stack of plates in his search for food.
though I prefer sharp pointy things in the gut.
Ameiko comes out behind shaking her head at the mess Sandru has made.

Is this a check I can take 10 on? Also, any chance I could get that circumstance bonus mentioned in the player's guide? I have been leading up to making this gift to Shalelu from my first in-game post. ;)

Shiori Kaijitsu |

"I outta put something sharp and pointy in your gut." Shiori says moving up to Sandru, revealing the dagger at her hip. "You always make trouble for Amei-ne!" She fumes, heading back into the kitchen to help clean up the mess.
A moment later she comes back into the main room, angrier then when she left. "SANDRU! YOU.RUINED.MY.CURRY!!!" She grabs the Varisian man pulling him back into the kitchen. "I don't care if there are chunks of plates in the curry, YOU ARE EATING IT ALL!"

Well, at this point Exiel is holding out the gift hoping Shalelu accepts the gift, so I don't think I can add anything without spoiling the scene. XD
Exiel eyes shift nervously between Shalelu and the taproom floor as he tries his best to keep his hands from shaking too much.
Did I say it right? I'm sure I washed my face before coming. Is it the shirt? Maybe it's the shirt. I knew I should've bought a new shirt for this evening. Damnit Exiel, think these things through next time!

LOL looks like I 'take 10' anyway. XD
And exactly the minimum score I was hoping for too! =)
Maybe I should've gotten that green shirt I saw at Ven's. Or maybe the... whoa there, hang on, is she smiling? I think she's smiling!
A DC10 perception check would probably be enough to hear Exiel's heart stampeding away at this point. =)

Darinius |

Darinius gets up from the table, carefully placing the leather cover on his spearhead as he sees Sandru get hauled back into the kitchen to face his curry-based punishment.
I'll help you with that. I don't care if there are plates in my seconds.

Since the GM has given me license for this part:
Shalelu suppresses a grin as she notes Exiel's beet-red and beaming grin.
Silly goose. When did he grow up? Doesn't seem too long ago that he came to Sandpoint as a scared, despondent boy. But here he is, suddenly a strapping, handsome and confident young man. Well, ok, maybe not so confident - he's definitely still shy and inexperienced with the ladies, though there's something refreshingly honest about that. Still...there's still quite abit of the little boy still in him. Or maybe I'm just too used to seeing him as a child?
As she releases Exiel from her hug and pinches his cheek lightly, she realises that she's smiling possibly just a little more than she thought she was.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exiel beams brightly as Shalelu thanks him for the gift and hugs him. For a few blissful moments, all was right in Golarion, for he was held close to the most beautiful person on its surface, and the radiance of her smile was for him. The Tarrasque itself could have rampaged through Sandpoint and he would not have noticed.
All too soon, however, Shalelu releases him, and pinches his cheek, and whilst a part of him was thrilled by the touch of her hand on his cheek, his heart sank just a little.
She still thinks of me as a little boy. But I'm not anymore a kid anymore! I've trained hard, and am more than capable of taking on a few goblins myself. I need her to see I'm not that scared little boy she used to protect from the goblins in the woods. I...
As his thoughts run their course, Exiel remembers Sheriff Hemlock's recent announcement. The goblin bounty had been reinstated, and a call had been issued to take down one of their chieftains.
If I can do this, I'm sure she'll see that I'm not a kid anymore.
Smiling to hide his mild disappointment (but then Exiel had never found it hard to smile in the presence of the beautiful elf), he rubs the back of his beck nervously.
I...well, I'm glad you like it! I mean...well, you've done so much for all of us, and you've always been a good friend, and, well, I was just thinking that it'd make your life a little easier and more comfortable when you're out there hunting goblins. Um...you know, I'll be out hunting goblins too! I mean, well, there's that bounty that's back up, and I've been training hard for this. Sheriff Hemlock even complimented me whilst I was practicing the other day, and you know how rarely he gives compliments. So I, uh...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shalelu grins at the odd amalgam of shy determination in Exiel's voice. She puts a reassuring hand on Exiel shoulder and squeezes softly.
I believe you're ready. Make me proud out there.
I suppose there MIGHT be a part of me that wants to see just how much you've grown too.

![]() |

With Shalelu's encouragement fresh in his ears, Exiel nods to his angel and scales the nearest table.
My friends, hear me, I pray! Our good Sheriff has issued a call! The goblins are getting bolder, and with that boldness they will start to raid, pillage and murder. They will become a danger, and a menace to those we hold dear. And we've seen this, for it was not so long ago that they dared to raid our town.
He pauses for a moment to let his audience recall the burnt offerings lost to the goblin raid a few years ago.
But there arose heroes from our midst who took the fight to them! Heroes that stood for their loved ones in this town. OUR loved ones. And I say there are still heroes amongst us here today who will rise up to do the same! I for one will stand with such heroes. To take the fight to the goblins. To take the fight to them before they come to us, so that our HOMES, will not be torched. So that our CHILDREN, will not be terrorised. So that THOSE WE CARE ABOUT (and at this point he allows his gaze to rest briefly on Shalelu) will not have to suffer their ugly faces!
So I ask you, friends: who are the heroes I will stand with?

![]() |

lol exiel better hope that shalelu a boyfriend in my rise of the runelords dies...
Let's just call it a different continuity, and let Shalelu be a single lady at the moment. =)

Darinius |

I already know that I'm a hero and all, don't you think you're laying it on a bit thick? Save the drama for the flight of red dragons. Darinius heckles Exiel from the audience of that little speech.
Our HOMES, Our CHILDREN...Give me a break, it's goblins. the little f$@~ers are going to blow themselves up with their fireworks long before we get there. Then we'll all look stupid.
